Anaheim had the edge everywhere except the scoreboard, but it took a gift power play and a blast from Mason McTavish with 35 seconds left to earn the Ducks a point. Observations from afar of Ducks' 2-1 OT loss in Chicago ⬇️

  1. There was no “analytical prowess”. The analytics said it was about a dead even game. The Ducks peppered them with low chance shots, and Chicago had a bunch of high danger chances. We definitely dominated in spurts, but we really took our foot off the gas.

  2. It comes down to the ducks being unable to create a net front presence. We can have all the possession and power plays in the world but that’s not going to beat a great goalie. If they want to be a playoff team that’s the only way to score in the playoffs and they can’t or are unwilling to do it because as far as I could tell there was a mandate at some point in the game to adjust to that.
