Scored my first beer league goal right around the time Finnie scored his first in the NHL last night.
Coincidence? I think not.
Give me the call, Stevie!
Emmitt Finnie truth of the day
Finnie is tied for 69th in expected goals among all forwards and tied for 13th in hits among forwards.
Hes tied with Debrincat for 2nd on the wings in xG and tied with MBN for 1st on the wings in hits
Larkin has more points than Kaprizov and makes just a hair more than half Kaprizov’s AAV. Just sayin’.

VIBE CHECK:
VIBES ARE THROUGH THE ROOF
This team may never lose again!
So glad our 3rd D pair isn’t basically a second set of goal posts out there anymore.
LGRW!
Like this week’s schedule coming up. 7 outa 12 points would be decent. Really liking next month’s schedule, 9 home games
Do we have the best goalie tandem in the NHL??? Experts (the vibes) say yes.
I watched the home opener and then haven’t watched a game since (YOU’RE WELCOME). Did MBN make it to the second line yesterday with Kane out? How’d he look?
AlJo is a legit bottom 4D, and our third pair with Bernard-Docker is ACTUALLY a good third pair.
For the first time in many years I am genuinely not nervous when icing our depth D. I have high hopes for AlJo and see him quietly develop into a solid second pair D in a couple of years.
we live laugh love the pride of Lethbridge, AB scoring his first *two* career goals against Edmonton.
Good stuff:
Prospect Postava, signed by the Red Wings in offseason, is now 2-0 on the season with 2.01 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. Sebastian Cossa, 22, has also started well with a 2-0 mark to go along with a 2.50 GAA and .914 save percentage.
“Bob Kaser says Nate Danielson has been skating and speculates he could maybe be back next weekend. Buium will be longer.” (8:31 PM · Oct 18, 2025)
I missed the game yesterday due to a family commitment and was happy that Finnie scored, but at the same time, I was pissed for missing it live.
Imagine not being first in the division. Couldn’t be us
Anyone have the length of time we went in the third yesterday without a stoppage? That had to be one of the longest I’ve seen in a while
Emmitt “Calder” Finnie
Through six games I think you gotta rank the rookies
1. Finnie
2. ASP
3. MBN
Which is crazy because Finnie is younger than ASP and just 14 weeks older than MBN. He’s been so impressive so quickly.
Anyone know the last time the DRW were first in the division at any point in the season?
I know it’s only been 6 games and haters will correctly remind us there’s still 76 games to go but it’s not nothing to be there at the start of the season.

Found in r/hockeymemes, so I can’t source it. It passes the eye test though, and it’s beautiful. 🙂
Larkin is leading the way, goalies playing well, and overall the team is playing pretty decent, but I hope to see Cat, Kasper, Copp, MBN start burying some shots.
There was a stretch, I think in the third period, where both the 3rd and 4th lines played back to back and dominated. Feeling like a solid lineup all around right now
A couple of the things I learned watching MSU sweep BU this weekend:
· Sparty’s going to win the whole damn thing
· Both Hutson brothers play like little punks
Gotta love 32 thoughts podcast. Montreal got half the show last week and this week 1st place Detroit is only brought up in the context of possibly trading depth defensemen lol
Larkin’s goal from Chiarot last night was a thing of beauty. Chiarot’s saucer landed right in Larks’ wheelhouse and he ripped it pretty much exactly at the point when it hit the ice. Bit of an awkward position to shoot from as well, just a remarkable goal.
With the focus on the kids being so strong I haven’t seen much talk about Kasper. How is he doing?
I hope the wheels are at least turning in Yzerman’s head about moves he could make to solidify the team as a playoff-likely. If you could drop in a top 4-caliber LD and a top 6-caliber F into this lineup, that helps slot players even better and gives us better insurance against injury. We’ve got a handful of prospects playing better than their original draft slot and there’s not really any room for more of them (outside of Danielson and/or Mazur) in the immediate future. I’m willing to pay up for quality if there’s any players we can shake loose.
Can’t help but think with watching McDavid and Draisaitl struggle that we’re witnessing a changing of the guard. Out with the old, in with the new.
Super excited with the wings at 5-1 and top of the division. However I still have some concerns, nothing crazy but things I see that makes me worry that the wheels can still fall off at any moment.
1. The wings are still not really getting any consistent depth scoring. Almost all of their goals have come from the top line. And while the top line is your scoring line, the past few years it seems like we ride one hot line for a win streak and once that line cools off we’re cooked. We need some more consistent and balanced scoring. While it’s cool the see Larkin scoring so much, we need at least the second line to get going.
2. That brings me to Larkin. My worry with Larkin is this is par for the course, he has a propensity to start the season hot, and then disappear at the end of the year. And it’s not just due to injury. Last year Larkin was nonexistent post 4 nations. Cat-Kasper-Kane carried a lot of the weight during that time…again as I said above, one hot line.
That said this is the best line up we’ve seen in the Yzerman era and I’m optimistic.
Dylan Larkin.
Buchelnikov should be going at 6.30 EST if anyone has hockey withdrawals.
How am I supposed to wait two days for the Red Wings?
High of off defeating the back-to-back Stanley Cup finalists, a five-game winning streak, and our awesome rookies, I decided to listen to my “Hockey” playlist while walking to work today. I hit “shuffle” and the first song up was the ESPN NHL theme. Nice start. Next up, “Hey, Hey Hockeytown!” The third song was somewhat Russian Five related, before moving on to “Gordie Howe is the Greatest of Them All” for a great start to the day. LGRW!
Y’know the Red Wings won again (bitch)
defense in front of the goalie has been consistently better during this (short) season so far compared to last year. that alone last year wouldve got the team in to the playoffs
and then add in the giant spark of the youth playing extremely well right from the start, and this team looks worlds better than last year. more engaged, more exciting, ready to compete.
a slump is going to come at some point. it almost always does for everyone. the real question is how the team responds to the slump and how quickly they break out of it.
nothing but optimism for this team based on the sample size so far.
Just watching the recap again, and thank goodness they corrected the goal horn.

I GOT RED WING FEVER
Rush will be at LCA August 26th and you know what? Hell yeah.
I wanna know what vision the shit coma guy has next
In a word I’d describe last game as stifling. They were always in the right place to disrupt the Edmonton offence, so many good active sticks. Stellar gap control for the most part on McDavid, he looked listless. Drai was pretty quiet too even though he scored his inevitable goal against us.
Hoping the couple days off helps Kane and Raymond. Raymond did not look himself at all even though he’s still so good he can get a couple apples at 75%. Not trying to damper the good vibes just slightly worried; shoulders are so finicky.
