Mariners ALCS Game 6 Reaction + Game 7 preview w/Jon Morosi | Seattle Sports

We are about to have a game seven of the American League Championship Series. The first ever game seven in Mariners history. The first game seven for the Blue Jays since they lost game seven the 1985 American League Championship Series over at Exhibition Stadium 40 years ago this week. Simply put, the Blue Jays played a better ball game tonight than the Mariners did. They turned three double plays. The Mariners committed three errors. Treya Savage was sharper than Logan Gilbert. A few pitches that Gilbert left up. The Blue Jays stung them. With their season on the line, it was the Jays who had the momentum since it seemed the ceremonial first pitch that was thrown by famous slugger Jose Bautista. Now we talk about game seven. The expected pitching matchup, George Kirby against Shane Bieber. for the Mariners. The biggest question I have right now, how many innings could they potentially have Brian Woo in game seven? Here’s why that’s such a question. Because the Mariners went to Matt Brash when they were trailing here in game six. Brash did not pitch especially well. His command looked a little bit off relative to where he’s been for most of this postseason. That’s a little bit of a concern. Brash faced a lot of the key hitters from the Blue Jays and certainly the Mariners might not want to have those hitters get too many good looks at Matt Brash during the course of this series. So keep an eye on that in game seven. You would expect Andres Munoz available for two innings. So maybe the plan is Kirby for five, Woo for two, and then Munoz with a potential brief appearance from Brash Bazardo and Spire mixed in there. The Jays meanwhile they could have future Hall of Famer Max Scherer available for them in relief along with Chris Basset. They restored a little bit of confidence to their bullpen. Louie Barland I thought was excellent. It was a very very good night for the Jays all the way around. Addison Barger with a big home run. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. tied the all-time Jays home run record for the franchise in the postseason along with Jose Bautista and 93 hero Joe Carter. So, it was a lot of good vibes on the home side after the Mariners had a very similar sentiment in game five. In many ways, this series deserves a seventh game on Monday at Roger Center. It’s going to get one.

  1. Do not despair Mariners fans. George will go some distance and Luis, Bryce and Brian will also be ready. The same strategy. If the starter struggles, we pull him right away. Please wear grey. Teal jersey not too lucky. The Game 7. Here we go.

  2. Embarrassing loss – not Mariner baseball and certainly not World Series caliber. They better have their overnight epiphany or they’ll be odd man out from the dance.

  3. In this playoffs, the M's are 3-1 when they outlast opponents. They are 3-4 when they got blown up or they blew the opponent up. So the best chance would be not allowing or giving up so much runs. George, Luis, Bryce and Brian will all be ready to pitch in this do or die game. This is the game of the five centuries in the Pacific Northwest history. If they don't give up runs and outlasts the opponent, we will remove ourselves from the only team that never went to the World Series. Keep the ball down and mix up the breaking balls. Base on balls is better than let them swing. You will see Dan Wilson outmanages John Schneider.

  4. M’s will break our hearts again tomorrow. Jays will put up 6-7 runs by the fourth inning off of Kirby. But hey at least we didn’t get swept like the brewers did and at least it’s not the Yankees🤷‍♂️

  5. First off.. why are they playing Canzone? I don't care about match ups of left vs right.. Robles would've been better.. been saying this since last game

  6. I'd be shocked in Kirby goes 5. One time through the lineup for him and Castillo to get thru the 4th and go from there. Woo, Speiers, Bazrado to get to Munoz and of course hopefully with a lead.

  7. Everyone saying the Mariners are going to go to the world series must be new Mariners fans …..this is literally the worst sports franchise in the history of professional American sports 😂

  8. Mariners need to jump out early in Game 7 if they want a chance. This lineup is too undisciplined and hasn’t shown it can overcome any significant deficit. If they get down by more than 2-3 runs it’s over. They need to jump out early, take the crowd out of it, then play add on.

  9. I predict Springer sits due to injury, Lukes moves to his lead-off spot, and Davis Schneider slots in. Y'all haven't seen him play yet. He's the kind of player that can be the hero with timely hits.
    Jays 5, Mariners 2.

  10. Whoever wins both teams were great at times. They gave us their all and it as fun to watch. That's playoff baseball. Thanks Mariners and Jays. Just make sure the winner gives the Dodgers massive trouble.

  11. In 1985 the frst year the ALCS was a best of 7 before it was abest of 5. Jays had a 3-1 lead in games with the lst two in Toronto and lost to Kansas City who went on to win the WS. Same in 89,91 and 2015. The team they lost to went on to win the World Series. In 1992 and 1993 they won theALCS and the WS.
