Smart man! This has to the one of if not the worst open manager jobs available. Horrible team. Horrible farm. And they fire the managers after 1-2 seasons anyway despite them not really having a chance.
I can say yes and lead us to just under .500 with a smile on my face.
ARTE DM ME!!!
Why didn’t we just keep Ron… We were doing good with him this year until his health made him step down
Pujols asked for a real salary. Arte thought he had him on the retainer contract. This team will be lucky to win 70 games for the foreseeable future.
Albert wants an MLB managerial position
“The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Orange County California” was last-resort scenario
Suspect he now believes he has better options
As long as Arte owns the team it ultimately isn’t going to matter whose managing the team.
How many GMs and managers have we gone through with basically the same results with the common denominator being Arte.
All we’re hoping for now is for Arte is to get lucky and stumble onto the next great GM or manager until the team is finally sold
He would’ve been fired or would’ve walked within a year anyways. This is not a relationship that will work a second time
Good
Seeing the other offers on the table, it’s easy to see why Albert wouldn’t choose us.
We have a terrible short term roster with tons of questions, weird construction, and a GM who takes no accountability on it (Ron said Perry gave him chicken shit and wanted him to make chicken salad from it).
We have a terrible long term outlet for many reasons too:
1. We have a 27th ranked farm that is hard to build anything from
2. We have a cheap owner who probably refused to bring the staff Pujols wanted
3. We have a GM with 1 year left, and that doesn’t bode well for a new manager (add on the fact that there might be some issues between Pujols and Perry during his playing days).
4. Who knows the ownership situation in the next couple of years.
Pujols (even as this sub is trying to shit oh this guy) has made it very apparent he’s all in on being a manager, has cut his teeth in the Dominican league, and has a vast amount of connections to bring in much needed coaching help.
But this sub acts like he doesn’t care at all lol. Yet everyone here has been hyping up Torii even though this dude said he only wants a manager position and won’t cut his teeth in other coaching jobs because he cares about his restaurant and life in Texas more.
I mean not to be pedantic, bit if you hire someone you eventually stop “talking” and start hiring.
What other offers on the table? All that’s been reported is the Orioles and the Padres are speaking to him.
No one offered him the job save for the angels and that was cause it would be cheaper to hire him since they already are paying him.
Pujols has just about zero experience managing.
You also have to take into account hall of fame types who go into managing fail if not all of the time.
I don’t see any team seriously hiring him and the Angels were the only team.
Hopefully they post an open requisition, I’d apply for a cool Milly
How telling is it that most of the responses to this news related to Arte not wanting to A/C the weight room, spend money on (fill in the blank, etc.). I don’t understand why Albert would want to get his MLB managerial career started on the wrong foot by skippering the Angels. As some of you p;ointed out, it doesn’t matter who the next Angels manager is. Een if he’s a terrific manager, it won’t make a big difference because of the lousy organization around him that begins with Arte. What a shame.
