Leafs make multiple SURPRISING moves… HUGE Leafs Updates | Toronto Maple Leafs News

We have some breaking news to go over today as the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a very surprising move. And in the midst of what has been a crazy past few weeks of changes and moves surrounding the roster for Craig Breub, he’s made one move surrounding their top prospect that has fans split. We’re to break that down as well as discuss multiple other major updates ahead of their big game tomorrow night. But before we get into it all, if you’re part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel, quick reminder to hit that subscribe button. Your support’s been absolutely unbelievable. It’s starting to get very busy very quickly surrounding the Leafs, so you’re going to want to stay tuned and make sure to hit that subscribe button. Tears a lot to go over today. the least have yet another off day. A couple days off here in between games, but they do have a pretty big game tomorrow. Hoping to get back on track after that Seattle Kraken loss after Anthony Stler has called out his team. And we have some updates that have dropped surrounding Eastston Cowan and the Leafs continue to make moves here. And you can see officially that Eston Cowan has been dropped from the Leafs lineup and is now skating as a scratch with Max Doi moving to the first line. Matias Machelli up to the second line and Cali Garcrook back on the fourth line. We’ll dive into what the lines look like now in their entirety and a ton of other updates. But Darius, I want to get your thoughts on this after a few games with Een Cowan on the top line and ultimately getting moved down in the middle of the game, but always sticking at the top line in practice. He’s now just been completely dropped and he at least according to this and all signs point to Een Cowan not playing and being a healthy scratch in tomorrow night’s game. And now we have to ask the question again. Does Ethan Cowan eventually be sent down to the Toronto Marlies if he is going to be, you know, a healthy scratch again at this point. But we’re going to monitor this closely. Obviously, they play tomorrow against the Devils. We’ll get to that in a second. But I think it’s pretty interesting that they’re experimenting with some stuff again like Max Doi up on the top line. I don’t like him as a centerman on this team. And if anyone watched Saturday, that third line was all perimeter play. Nobody was driving the net. And the other thing with the Leafs, and we’ll get to the power play in a second, is the power play hasn’t been very good because they’re not uh or they they haven’t even had opportunities to go on the power play. And when they have, they haven’t been very good. And the reason for that is because they’re not making things happen. There’s no chaos in their game. Everything is on the perimeter and everything is safe. And that third line was the epitome of that on Saturday. So they’re moving away from that. Maxdom is going back to the top line. When practice opened up, it looked like they were shuffling things around and Cowan would be, you know, in the bottom six. That’s not the case. He’s not even in the lineup at this point. And one of the most shocking things to me in this entire lineup is you have a guy, and we talked about this, you know, last week. You have a guy who’s not a natural center playing center now in Lorent, and you have Robertson on the fourth line, which is it’s a little weird to me. Maybe it’s a matchup thing against the Devils. I don’t know exactly, but this is a little weird to me. I think you’re lacking some size as well. uh on the fourth line at least, but you know, Joshua and W are back on the uh third line. So, that’s pretty interesting with McMahon. You know, exactly what you’re getting out of that third line. So, Bub’s uh putting everything into the blender. He’s hoping that that third line can create some, you know, chaos, drive the net, stuff like that, because that’s something that Stallars was talking about, not just them not defending the net, not getting to the other team’s net, and not doing anything in front of their goalender to uh to mess with his vision, to mess with his game, all of that stuff. So, pretty interesting decisions here. And again, if Cowan’s going to be on the outside looking in like this and he’s only going to be put on the, you know, maybe the fourth line or even when he’s been on the first line, Nick, the last little while, they’ve taken him off, right? Like throughout the game and then it’s knander and they’re trying to score a goal because the goals, uh, the games are tight. So, pretty interesting moves to me. Yeah. And obviously Ken, you mentioned it. He’ll probably get sent down at some point, but you never know. He missed the first couple games and ultimately got in. Here are the full lines, at least in the forward group. The top line is the same on the left and middle, but of course you have Max Doi is coming in there. Machelli, Tvarus Neander, they’re going back to that. That’s something that they’ve been using a lot, has worked at times, but not really. Machelli has played a little bit better as of late. Dakota Joshua coming off of a pretty uh probably his best game as a Leaf with Nicola Watt and Bobby McMahon. Now, we did see in the preseason and in camp Dakota Joshua and Nicola Watt together. So, of course, with Een Cow in there at that time, but they’re not going to run that today. And then Robertson, Lorent, and Yarn Croak is interesting as well because I can’t imagine Robertson’s game is suited great to the fourth line. However, we’ll have to see what happens with that. He’s obviously paired with Lorent who isn’t a natural center. Eston is going to get scratched, but also Sammy Blade has yet to play a game for the Toronto Maple Leafs and just continues to remain on the outside looking in. And regarding Max Doi, I think it’s honestly he’s been playing like not great, but he also has played with some energy lately. So maybe throwing him into the top line will give him a burst of energy the team needs. We knew there was going to be some major changes, especially after Anthony Stler completely called out and blast the uh the team. Now, are these the changes I was expecting? Not at all. It’s pretty surprising to me. I didn’t expect how to be taken fully out or Nick Robertson to be on the fourth line. The rents in the middle makes things very interesting, but also they need to change something. And looking at the power play now, of course, you see here it has been really bad. And we had a video covering a few days ago. It’s been like the one of the worst in the uh they haven’t been above league average since 2016. I don’t even know if they were even in 2016. before then since the core four which is now not a core four anymore any thoughts on what needs to be done the power play again they’re keeping the same PP1 they just need to actually score the goal score goals but at the end of the day here they have the talent to do it and it’s uh puzzling that they can’t get it done year after year yeah and maybe it has something to do with the fact that they’re not going on the power play that often right they’re not even getting that many reps to put it to good use going into Saturday they were one of the lowest drawing penalty teams in the entire league if you look at the Florida Panthers they’re well they’re almost at 30 penalties drawn already this season. Leafs weren’t even touching double digits yet. So, you know, they got to get that going. And again, like I mentioned earlier in the video, aside from the power play itself, they have to get that going. They have to start creating some chaos, uh, you know, uh, puck possession in the offensive zone, not just being one and done, which is a lot of their chances so far this season. They have had some puck possession. They have looked good at times this season, but a lot of it is off the rush, a lot of it is just one and done, all of that stuff. So, they have to get that going. they have to draw some penalties and get momentum going in the game. Um, and then again on the power play itself, it hasn’t been good. And I mean, Riley’s been putting up some power play points. That’s really good. And just points in general, that’s been nice to see this season. You need more points from your back end. McCabe last week as well. So that that’s been good. But you have to get going on the power play here. It just feels like they aren’t very and a lot of people are talking about the zone entries and mi missing Mitch Marner in that regard. I don’t think that’s necessarily true. They’re gaining the zone. It’s just this lack of like effort and caring again that we were talking about on Saturday that Stallars was talking about. They gain the zone and then they’re just kind of like we’re on the power play. We don’t want to waste energy. Like go out there, have that killer instinct and get to work, score a goal here. And they’re not showing that. They’re just not showing that. So that has to be a lot better, too. But I think they just besides the power play itself, they have to draw more penalties so they can get on the power play more often because they have been somewhat good at that the last couple of years and it just hasn’t been going so far this season. Yeah, make no mistake, Morono’s playing really well for the Vegas Golden Knights so far this year. So, that’s always going to be a narrative. And then, of course, Stallars we assume will factor into the net. And just a quick look here. These were the lines at the at last practice. Just kind of give you guys a comparison. You can see again Yarn was in for Matthews, Matthews, but these have been the lines similar to over the past couple games. Pretty, you know, big difference here. Again, they’re moving Nicola Wa up, Dakota Joshua up from the fourth line in general. So, just to give you guys a bit of a clearer picture on what’s changed. A lot has changed here and it’s going to be interesting to see how they actually go ahead and adjust. This is the will be the first game tomorrow after the call out of Anthony Solar. You’re going up against the New Jersey Devils and familiar face Sheldon Keef. So, there should be a lot uh a lot riding on this game even if it’s early in the year. It kind of feels like this has been the early they always struggle in October, but it feels like the sky is falling down for some people here. Even though at the end of the day, they’re still 32 and one with with seven points. They’ll be in good shape. Let us know down below what your thoughts are. Are you surprised at Eent count being sent to the healthy scratchless? Do you want him sent down to the Marley so he gets some more reps? And also leave down below what your thoughts are on his play as a whole because it’s been pretty up and down, but overall I think he’s been pretty decent. Thank you guys for watching. See there?

  1. This is the most logical change yet with Cowan. Get him on the top line in the AHL. Domi on the 1st line is the best we’ve ever gotten out of Matthews. Not because Domi is the key but it allows Matthews to do more but not all the playmaking as well.

  2. The Leafs are sending the wrong people down. Domi and cronchok (how ever it’s spelled) should be traded or sent to the minors. Cowan has to keep playing. He’s second best on the team with the goalie being the best. There are a lot of players that should be traded including Matthews.

  3. What's with these former tough players turning into softies when they are in management?
Shanahan was a power forward and iced a soft team, Berube was a goon and became a complete soffty as a coah. You are sitting Blais and Cowan and playing Robertson and Jankrok on the 4th line, which is usually made up of physical, energy guy. What a joke.

  4. As I said last season. Fire the powerplay coach. The guys they had and even the guys they have should make them a higher producing threat. They have 2 guys that can blast the puck in Matthews and Nylander. have them on opposite sides if possible so the pp quarterback can pass to either side. Keep Knies in front etc. Morons paid six figures should be able to construct an effective unit.

  5. they have enough quality players to make 3 solid lines , do it and stop messing around even if it means sending cowan down do it stop f ing around patch a 4th line together for now just limit their ice time man this team is frustrating

  6. Maybe they moved Cowan out to avoid him catching the soft and lazy disease….Leafs badly need to add some nasty, they play like hitting is wrong,, tough is wrong, they have a captain who doesnt lead, its a damn mess.Smarten the ** up for gods sake.

  7. Said it in a previous video, pick up bertuzzi again. This team is soft and lacks “hockey” emotion. The goalie is doing everything back there too. Let’s rotate some Marlies in too. Might need pezzetta back. This isn’t a team, it’s a club

  8. It's sad when the toughest guy on the team is the goalie. McCabe, Benoit and knies are the only guys who try to stickup for teammates. After a while you stop playing that way because nobody on the ice has your back.
