That’s a big line up with a lot of rebounding. They can clean the offensive glass almost every time someone misses a shot
They’re going to be underwhelming. Especially since Vanfleet is injured. Regular season team if I’ve ever seen one.
Tbh the rockets will probably not use this lineup every game . But yeah the spacing is going to be horrendous
The Rockets mitigate their poor spacing by generating a ton of extra possessions with elite rebounding which the Spurs starting 5 isn’t really built for outside of Wemby.
Yes
That’s an ugly lineup imo. No one’s really a ball handler. Good luck playing against a fastball tempo and navigating screens with that bigs lineup. They probably go zone defensively or man to man. Sure they own the rebound department, but that lineup right there is meant to be destroyed by our team’s dynamic pacing.
If true, Rocketts are a lot more desperate than I thought. Just play Sheppard. OKC getting a W on Banner night
Kevin Durant doesn’t need space. He can make a jumper inside of a broom closet. Wemby is going to get the ball swiped away from him if he tries to drive in a crowed paint.
Amen Thompson is 2nd most athletic player in the NBA. I’ve seen him attack a double team buy just jumping in the air, in then gap between the two players. These are not apples to oranges. Still time to delete this.
Yes.
Spurs Fans 🤝 Thinking they now better than the spurs staff
I was arguing with some random “spurs fans” on spacing yesterday. I’d love to hear that guy’s reaction to this lineup…
We won’t know the spacing is bad (for any team) UNTIL we see some offensive schemes this season. I am never a fan of any type of spacing related posts because when you ask for tangible examples nobody ever responds.
Ime’s offense has some similarities to Spurs Motion offense, but gravitate more towards the 1-3-1, High PnR, and iterations of the high stack 1-4.
Spacing issues shouldn’t be a huge concern because both Smith and Sengun have the ability to shoot within the mid range and three point zones.
People always like to call out spacing because it sounds fancy and technical, but in the rockets case in particular the question is if they can score consistently with this lineup while managing Sengun and Adams fatigue through the course of each game.
kornet-adams, fox-durant, wemby-sengun, are imo the only things that matter. everything will feed of them.
You would so run sets for Smith and Durant to get over screens.
I just know this lineup ain’t gonna work. Watch them run this lineup in 20 games and have like a 8-12 record before they make changes.
