Spurs DO NOT Extend Jeremy Sochan’s Contract!
Although it was expected, we have a lot to unpack here with the Jeremy So situation. What is up, San Antonio Spurs fans? Welcome to TSR Sports. I hope you had a better weekend than my New York Giants. It’s official. No extension for the Spurs and Jeremy Sohan. I’m going to talk about the positives with Jeremy. And yes, there are some for all the haters of Germany or dislikers, not haters, dislikers, but also the negative of Germany because there’s two sides to every coin and talk a little about what may happen in the future. And then also this situation reminds me a lot of another situation with a Spurs player from a few years ago. Let’s talk about the positive with Jeremy first. He is the second best defender on the Spurs. This is a team that needs defense. We saw some defensive issues during the preseason. So having Jeremy on the court is going to be a plus on the defensive side. Jeremy is willing to do what the team asked, whether it was point so or center so just went out there and did his best. He’s a guy that’s willing to do the dirty work. Die for loose balls, bumping into players, talk some trash. Not not a dirty player, Spurs fans, but just that guy that’s going to do that stuff for your team. Every team needs that guy. His efficiency went way up last season with a career best right around 54% field goal percentage. He was much better in the paint. Granted, his three-point shot was still not there, but he at least was doing better near the rim prior to his previous seasons, and he is still young. 22 year old this season. We do not know Jeremy Sohan’s ceiling as of yet. Flip it over. Negatives. He is getting to be injuryprone. This is four injuries in the last year. starting off with a thumb injury during the early season last season when he ran into Chris Paul. Fluke injury, I know, but nonetheless an injury. He had the on and off and on and off back injury throughout the second half of the season. Injured his calf during the offseason, so he couldn’t play with the Polish team. And now the recent wrist injury, which may be minor, but it is going to cause him to miss time. He cannot keep staying injured like this to stay with the Spurs or be with any NBA team for that matter. He’s not a good shooter. Though he has looked good in offseason workout videos, we need to see that translate to an NBA court. It’s one thing to be shooting in the gym. It’s another when a defender on you and thousands, if not millions of people are watching you. And last but not least, a negative, and it’s an odd negative, but I think it is one. Carter Bryant, I think Carter Bryant’s a negative player. CD might be a little smaller than Jeremy, but there’s no doubt my mind watching him play. He is more athletic and likely to be a better shooter. Sure, CB has struggled with the NBA 3 to this point, but the tools are there, and I think both players will be better at the three spot at small forward. However, Carter Bryant may have the higher ceiling. So, if Jeremy’s injured a lot this year and struggling and Carter Bryant as a rookie, looks like he’s going to be the guy the Spurs might sit back and go, let’s work on developing Carter Bryant. You try developing Jeremy So, it ain’t working. Let’s move on. And speaking of moving on, let’s talk about the scenarios that may play out with Jeremy San. The first one, of course, is easy. Just could resign after the season and stay a spur. Okay. The second one, and this would be a shocker, what could happen because we’ve definitely seen the Spurs make some big moves in the last few years, is he could be traded before the All-Star break for who for what? I don’t know. That’s out there. Or, and this is the worst case scenario, is he just leaves, contract expires, he gets an offer, the Spurs don’t want to match it, and we get nothing for him, and he walks. our ninth overall pick from 2022. The last man standing from 2022 because Blake Wesley’s gone, Malachi Brandon’s gone. He just up and walks. That would suck. It’s really going to depend on his play and of course if he can stay healthy, what scenario plays out there. You know what else is playing out? Just I feel like I’m watching this real time. What’s playing out for me that’s a little distressing Spurs fans is this is starting to remind me of the Derek White situation. Derek was looking good his first years as the Spurs. Had potential. Started struggling with injuries in the last what year and a half with the Spurs. Was not playing his best basketball. So what did the Spurs do? They moved on. Traded him to the Celtics for what has turned out into you pretty much just a draft pick. Josh Richardson. I know he traded Josh, but I don’t think we got much in return. Romeo Langford, not even the NBA anymore. Then we had that first round pick swap in what 28ish I think. I think it’s top two protected maybe. Anyways, we trade Derrick White and he goes on to play his best basketball ever and wins an NBA championship. Now granted, he was on a stack team, but he is an NBA champion. Could we see something like this play out again, which would be a nightmare for Spurs fans. Jeremy Sand’s injured, can’t stay healthy, Spurs move on from him, and next thing you know, he is the second coming of Dennis Robin or whatever and playing fantastic ball for a contender somewhere else or a championship team. Time will tell. Last thing I want to go over with you guys. This Jeremy, this player is the last of the pre-WY guys. You got Jeremy Sohan, Kell Johnson, and Demisel. All three players drafted before we got WBY, which means they were not drafted to compliment WY. And that is the direction of the Spurs right now. Get the guys that can bring the best out of Wemby. That’s why they drafted Castle. That’s why they drafted Harper. That’s why they drafted Bryant. That’s why they traded for Fox. They’re trying to get players that they think could fit and complement Wemi. That doesn’t mean Kellman and Devin and Jeremy can’t, but they are the last of the pre-Wing guys. And there’s been a lot of turnover the team over the last few years. I’m just saying these guys were not brought in with WBY in mind. And to date, they haven’t seemed to be the best pieces with WMY. Deon’s been on and off with WY on the court. Kelly’s coming off the bench and not as a big of an issue and Jeremy as played well times with Wendy and other times not so much. Of course, the big question mark is when you have a bunch of non-shooters, can you have another non-shooter on the court and Jeremy Sohan? And let’s also not even forget the recent surge of Julian Champeni also still young. If he keeps develing, keeps playing well all year and stays healthy, could he affect Jeremy Sohan not coming back to the team? There’s a lot of stuff happening with the Spurs. Jeremy, stay healthy number one. Two, I hope your game has improved. And number three, to the Spurs, play him in position. One of the forward spots, the three, the four, I don’t care. Don’t be putting him at the two. Sure as hell, please do not put him at the one. And we have enough bigs. Obviously, he’s not going to be playing the five. But for him to succeed, he’s got to stay healthy, and the Spurs need to play in a position. All right, that’s a lot to go over. What do you realistically think is gonna happen to Spurs fans out of the three options I mentioned? Do you think he gets resigned after the season? Do you think he does get traded at the All-Star break? Or does he just walk? And that one better not happen. That one can’t happen. So, I’m gonna I’m going to cross it off. I cannot see any scenario where he just walks. That would be a disaster. At least get something for him. Right now I am 5015 because I haven’t seen him on the court. And right now, I hate to say it, I can’t trust he’s going to stay healthy this season. So Jeremy, prove me wrong. Please, for the love of Spurs nation, prove any of us wrong to think you’re not a Spur for life or maybe you don’t have it or in my case, I just don’t have confidence he can stay healthy or his three-point shots improved. I I don’t know yet. Prove me wrong. Prove us all wrong. Will you get back on the court, play 80 games, play your best basketball ever, and show Spurs nation I belong here. I am going to be a Spur for life. That’s all I got. Hit the thumbs up if you enjoyed the video and you want to support the channel. Subscribe to become part of our awesome Spurs community. I thank you and as always, go Spurs go. and stay.

What do you think will happen with Jeremy? Will he be a Spur next season? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!
Definitely need to wait an see what he does this year because last year he looked very replaceable
How bout Jeremy win your spot or lose it.
Dude take your hand off the panic button. 1. Many guys did not sign rookie extensions as more cap space will be had next year. 2. Dwhite was traded to help us tank, he was too good and we needed to lose. 3. A good motive for him to ball out again. 4. You cannot trust for any player to stay healthy.
Bryant is 10x better
Its about winning…not feelings…i like his personality, but the facts are last year were were a winning team with him not playing, and a bad team when he plays…especially starts…huge reason wemby was stuck taking tons of threes, because Jeremy doesn't space the floor, so wemby could never attack the rim consistently…not shocking that last year wembys best games were when Jeremy wasnt playing
"What if Sochan develops into a better player on another team? Good luck to that other team. The same thing happened with the Fox trade, We picked a good no brainer trade at the time at a discount, and got Double rewarded with Harper unexpectedly. If we trade Sochan, the Spurs are tactful enough to make sure whoever is replacing Sochan is a better fit on the team TODAY than Sochan is. The spurs are not future tellers. They make the decision today with the best interpretation of the information today. Good luck to Sochan if he recovers and has an excellent career somewhere else.
So keep a poor player for years in hopes that he finds a 3 point shot? Makes no sense…plus he is too small…small ball doesn't win….big teams win
Carter Bryant has a higher ceiling than Sochan . Sochan has charisma and he's a likable guy. However his play has been subpar . I do believe we haven't given him a chance to play his natural position and he lacks an offensive game . Idk what he thinks he's wourth but I'd say 10 mil a year and maybe less . We can't over pay for him .
Luke Kornet has made zero 3s on zero attempts this preseason, and we all think he’s a great signing . Let the perimeter players be perimeter players and the bigs be bigs. Sochan can finally play in position getting passes from Harper, Castle, and Fox. Let’s watch him earn his next contract.
You forgot to say hes good at turning the ball over at the end of games. Hes declined every year, so now he goes shooting in off season. Hopefully we can package him and get Giannis
Bryant’s ceiling is a lot higher
Big Sochan glazer here. But he just can’t stay healthy and that is hindering his development. Still hoping that he finally stays on the court for the majority of the season. I wish he stays as a Spur after all is said and done on a team friendly deal.
Realistically, Spurs will trade him at the trade deadline no matter what…. if they honestly thought he had potential to stay with the team, they would have extended…. We need another solid shooting SF….
I hope they don’t get rid of him yeah I know the injuries been on & off while also needing to improve on his 3 point shot.
But his defense and slashing ability is good to the point I rather have him instead of Keldon who’s not a good defender also his 3 point shot hasn’t been consistent either. If anything we should be looking to trade KJ.
With all the talent the spurs have i think they trade him
Give him the minimum already.
Be honest? Was it actually green hair?
Keldon Johnson and Vassel are next! These guys already gave what they had to offer and it isn't enough to contribute to a championship team!
Your giants one upped the ravens buffalo week 1 L
Being a great guy is not enough. You have to be great at basketball which us a shooting sport first.
He is not the second best Defender on that Team
Why would they put him at the 1 or 2 when we have all these guards
Dude , he gets injured alot because, as you just said, he is "that guy" the guy diving for the balls and doing the dirty work.
I think they’ll let the year end and talk about the new contract. But I think spurs are hoping to have him accept a smaller contract
The spurs are business savvy enough to get something for him but honestly I’d pay for someone to take him we went 5-0 without him and he’ll just gunk up the works
You didn't go over the future contract situations as the Spurs want to keep free enough to throw a massive contract to Wemby and they have Fox and Vassell, and Castle and Harper are likely going to have big pay days too.
They aren't going to keep him as he's going to ask more than what the Spurs can pay out. They already have Vassel and Fox and need to throw Wemby a big contract and Castle and Harper look like they will also want nice paydays.
Jalen Williams is already an all-star. Sochan needs to step up.
Sochan was the main person looking off wemby in his rookie year 😂😂 wemby wide open….
Jeremy: (looking wemby dead in the eyes) I didn't see him coach 😂😂😂
Trade Sochan and Vassell for picks. Focus on Harper and Bryant.
Trade him to wizards for krispert🎉🎉🎉
He will get a year to determine his contract. I think we keep him. I sure hope we do
Before Jerm got injured last year, he was looking much improved. Spot on, being the second best defender. Thats major for a team that has been poor defensively. He can have a successful career being a guy who is an elite defender, rebounds especially well, and hits a three every now and then. I think he’ll be a Spur. A crazy thought would be to package Jerm and Fox for a player or picks. Jerm, go out an average 20 rebounds a game! Affect the game in different ways!
Don’t tell Clan the Spurs fan
looking at the RFA market this summer, I am not that worried about losing him next summer.
accept Wemby is the cornerstone, settle with being a role player, he unlikely to be A1/A2 in other team anyway
just need to work on a team-friendly deal, then he can be part of the Spurs team that will be a play-off team for as long as Wemby is with us (hopefully Wemby will follow DR, TD, Manu)
Would like to keep Sochan, but I do see him gone. While he is a good defender, the offense is not there. But pains me that we keep Keldon when dude is a shot chucker and a cone on defense taking minutes from Bryant is staying
Shit.
First off this does not mean SA. Does not want him it only means that his agent N da team could not reach a deal in other words they don't want to pay him whatever his agent is asking. Question is how much diff is the math? If it's way off then he gong sign elewhere it not much off they work something out. If can't reach agreement trade him otherwise we lose him for nothing.
Also not only Sochan leaving the entire team will leave in 2032 bc so far early voting is negative -46 for new arena. Congrats SA Keep voting 4 da Democracts so others profit. Losers
I agree that it would suck to lose him for free but also at the same time, if someone gives him let’s say 22mil a year how can we justify that? Since he will be a bench player this year, you can’t be paying that much for a rotational guy. I just think he’s better suited on another team that doesn’t have aspirations just yet and he can continue to develop. I just don’t think that place is SA
Derrick White had less injuries than Sochan
offensively I notice the problem that sochan brings when he is with wemby. he needs to be near the rim to be effective he is blocking wemby attack space. since he is not a shooter his defender does not move out when sochan go to the perimeter suffocating wemby airspace.
