Really wish they involved DK more. I get the TEs are nice but come on man only 22 catches all year. Ja’marr almost matched that in one game against the Steelers.

a wr2 would help create more space for DK but we dont have one lol
There’s not a lot of teams that consciously don’t guard the #1 WR like we did. It’ll be hard for him to get targets when the WR1 to WR2 is steeper than the Duquesne Incline. Especially when Austin is out.
He’s currently on pace for his highest receiving yard total since 2020 and highest TD count ever. Overall it’s been better than I expected.
Metcalf’s game is explosiveness, he’s not a high volume catcher. Also, he’s a great player and capable WR1 but he’s not Ja’Marr Chase, almost no WRs are gonna look good using him as a basis of comparison.
They are making every concerted effort to involve him, the offense in general hasn’t run enough plays. They’ve scored too quick on occasion, they benefited from takeaways and short fields, we’re not gonna be 29th in total plays run the entire season. We’re gonna run into a couple two, three games where everything seems to be working and youre just playin for style points.
This happened with GP too, cause we don’t have a WR2.
I think he’s being hindered by not having a WR2 there’s literally no one to take the secondary threat off of him. He’s literally the only receiver right now. Until we get CA3 and another Wr……it’s probably going to be a 1000-1300 yard 8-10 TD season. STILL GOOD, but…….he could go for 1500 with 13 TDs if he wasn’t being double teamed by the CB and saftey overtop. He’s proven that he is definitely still a number one Wr, but he needs help.
I still think the Pickens trade was a major mistake. Just him being here opens up DK a lot more, just like Tee Higgins which is why we couldn’t double Chase. We’re in the exact same spot with receivers we were last year just with a different guy. And all we got was a 3rd for him which we would’ve gotten had he walked and signed elsewhere anyways. Just a stupid trade.
Bizarre routes to get the 2nd and 3rd string TE’s open are the hallmark of Arthur Smith’s offense. This is by design
DK is never going to be a high volume guy. He’s not a great route runner or contested ball guy. Very good player but he’s significantly better as a number 2.
I mean he’s being doubled and tripled every game 🤣
Jeez. If only we could play against the Steelers defense…
Bigger issue is our defense. Our offense can score
We should just sign Chase why didn’t they think of that
Thoughts? Too many drops that’s my thoughts.
Should’ve paid Pickens or actually prioritize getting the ball to DK, like 10-12 attempts a game. Get the TEs 4-10 touches and sprinkle on some Roman Wilson, he’s shown some talent even if they got called back from penalties. Also why were at why not start Kaleb Johnson? He’s built like brick shithouse and has the size you want in a bellcow back. I’d like to see what he could do with 20-35 carries a game.
I think it’s a long season and we don’t want to overload any one player that will mean a lot to our success if we are planning on winning a playoff game.
Theres no other big threats. It’s easy to take DK away most of the time. Especially since Calvin Austin has been hurt. Nobody else on the team is over 200 yards receiving.
5 of the top 7 targeted eligibles on this team are TEs and running backs.. if that tells you anything.
Both the picks thrown were in his direction
Ya’all that still live in Pittsburgh gotta calm down a bit. Rodgers is teaching Tomlin how to play chess.
Assuming the site Fantasy Pros is correct, no team has thrown less targets at their WRs than the Steelers. The Texans are the next lowest, and they’ve thrown 25 more. Wild stuff. Metcalf has 61% of the WR targets too.
With that being the way things are, I think the thing that’d help Metcalf most isn’t another WR, but for the run game to take off so teams stop defending with two high and an emphasis on taking away the deep ball. Feels like right now teams don’t respect the Steelers run game, so they dare the Steelers to beat them with short passes and running and make sure Metcalf can’t do it. So he doesn’t get a bunch of targets.
Hopefully the last two games are a sign of things improving there and balance returning.
That’s not the Steelers way.
The offense is the most productive it’s been in years. Who cares what WR1 stats are. We are a run first team that will run the ball 3 times in a row and punt if we’re ahead by even 1 point. We are not like the Rams throwing like we’re down by 20+ in the 4th even when leading by that amount.
So it doesn’t matter who the receivers are because they’d all struggle under this offensive system. You think another high profile WR is going to make the Steelers throw another 15-20 times per game? Because they won’t.
