A legend," Pujols said. "Just an unbelievable hitter. But I think for me, he [Gwynn] was a better person, with everything that he accomplished in the game vs. off the field. What he's done, and what he did through his career in San Diego, it speaks for itself."
[Koke] Albert Pujols talking hitting and referencing what Tony Gwynn always preached: "swing the knob, not the barrel." Pujols has mentioned on several occasions that Gwynn’s 1990s hitting clinic video played a significant role in shaping his approach at the plate.

Im coming around to the idea of him coaching
I think I’d like Ruben to continue being the pitching coach. He doesn’t need to worry about day to day managerial things. Pujols would be a great Hitting Coach and I’m warming up to him being the manager.
But if not making Ruben the manager is going to ruin that relationship, then I think you have to promote him because he’s just too valuable.
I mean if he’s trying to say things that will resonate well with this fanbase, that’s a good start
I don’t want Pujols. I would not be against DeRosa though
One dude has 700 home runs the other dude almost hit 400, yeah knob is probably right.
It’s great that he was inspired by Tony and speaks to Pujols’ curiosity and willingness to learn new things. Unfortunately, I don’t think Machado or Tatis have that trait. They’re both extremely talented players, but when they hit a wall with that talent, they are not capable or willing to respond to help. Their MO is to work through their struggles themselves, and as we’ve seen for multiple seasons now, that approach has its limits.
His swing was always consistent that’s for sure. Also mentioning Tony Gwynn.

“Alot of hitting coaches won’t agree”
Well they are dumb then. Who isnt going to listen to Gwynn and Pujols hitting advice?
New hitting coach
I watched that video so many times when I was a kid!
Is it me or do I see Pujols being more of a hitting coach than an actual coach ? & I’m kind of worried that this guy will be doing some questionable decision making during critical moments in the game
i love that he got himself a beer belly
People saying he should be a hitting coach…he isn’t going to take that job. Someone is going to hire him as Manager.
I’d rather a Catcher be manager; e.g. Yadi or Scioscia
Is he rocking an A Lange un Sohne? Great taste. Hire this man.
Tony Win <3
F it, hire him now…haha.
Long Beach legend Tony Gwynn! Tony loved attending Dodgers games!
