Honestly the offer was probably something ridiculous. As good as Giannis is, I’m glad we stuck to the same core.
they only say these things so they have ammo if we get knocked out of the playoffs. manufactured drama so they can say we should have done this or that.
Conventional thinking says you go for the superstar and figure everything else out after, but when I look at what OKC built and Boston the year before that, I think what the Knicks have currently is much more meaningful.
Think of it this way: if this current lineup doesn’t work out you can tear it down and try to go after Giannis in the 2027 free market. If Giannis comes and that is a failure (which sorry is at least as likely with presumptive roster construction) you need to deal him for a boatload of FRPs and start from scratch. Holding their cards and betting on themselves is actually less of a gamble.
I’m happy we really can’t make moves. I almost wish we were over the second apron just so we didn’t have to hear ridiculous trade talk all season.
I still want Giannis I don’t think we are athletic enough to compete with younger teams like the Thunder.

We would get Giannis but the Bucks would just try to fleece us. I don’t want Giannis unless we get a sweet deal like the Lakers got with Luka. 1 player and a pick is the precedent.
The people in this subreddit seemed to have no interest in Giannis. They didn’t even want to give up OG for him.
We should seriously be having a conversation with the Bucks on how to get him. We have prospects and a deep roster. If we get him at a good deal we are the favorites for the title.
