Blake Wheeler passes the torch to Mark Scheifele 🀝 #gojetsgo

Well, Sh, the day that we knew was coming has come. I remember in 2019 when I broke the record and we got back to the bench and you were congratulating me and I let you know that I was going to hold on to this one for you for a little bit. And now that time has come and it’s only fitting that the first ever draft pick in Jets 2.0 history is now the leading scoreer in franchise history. So, here’s to many, many, many more points to come. I know you still got a lot more left in you. And just know that the Wheelers are your biggest fan. We’re cheering you on from afar as always. And I’m so proud of the teammate you’ve become, the leader you’ve become, and most importantly, the friend that you’ve been to me and all the boys in Winnipeg over all these years. Uh you’re the best. We love you and I hope you have a great night celebrating, pal.

  1. Never forget this man ruptured his nut in a regular season game… And THEN RETURNED TO FINISH THE FRICKEN GAME.

Not even a playoff game. If ANY injury means you shouldn't have to return to a REGULAR SEASON game… It's that imo…

Say what you want about Wheeler otherwise, so many Jets fans seemed to vocally dislike him and blame him for a lot of things without any real evidence at all… Like it being his fault Laine left and didn't work out here, etc etc…

But just like Maurice saying he wanted the Jets to win the next cup after winning it himself, Wheeler holds a special place in my heart over SUCH a clear example he gave a shit about this city and this franchise.
