A Young Jets Fan Said That?? Team Owner Woody Johnson Just Said WHAT?!?!? | The Rich Eisen Show

Okay, listen. Everybody stop texting me this video. Okay, everybody’s texting me this video. That’s all I’ve been getting. Susie sent it to all of us just to make sure we talk about it on the air. But hey, Suz, uh, I’d already received it from three different people this morning. Three. Eric Stone Street sent it to me during the show with the text of saying, “I’m sure you’ve seen this, but I sent it anywhere.” Someone tweeted us, “Hey, have you talked about this yet? I didn’t I hope I didn’t miss it.” I don’t know who this young man is. I don’t know where who interviewed him. I don’t know anything about the origins of it other than the fact it is all over my text inbox today. But it’s a young kid in the metropolitan area watching his Jets go to 0 and7 and getting interviewed after the game. Get your thoughts on the game. I hate this team. I was born into this and I I’m not going to ever I’m always a Jets fan, but like I just I hate this team. I mean, can he put down the microphone and give that dude a hug? You know what I mean? We need that as a drop. I just I feel like honestly I feel like, you know, they went back in time to the early 80s for me. You know, I’m just bar freshly bar mitzvah. Hey, ask me ask ask me about Dan Marino’s fake spike. I’m coming out of the game. Here you go, Rich. Here’s a microphone. I’d be I hate this team. I mean, I I was in I was born into fandom of Judy Garland. That’s what my dad was into. My brother was the Jet fan, the Jet Met fan in the family. And I just knew again when when my kids started coming into this world and you know, I I just knew with Tom Brady being the quarterback of the uh New England Patriots and Susie’s from New England. I’m just like, fine. I’m not going to sit. I cannot. That’s wise parent. I cannot subject. I cannot subject them. That could have been I mean Lee, my nephew, my brother Jeff subjected Lee. I know. Poor Lee. And he’s constantly texting me. So that’s Lee. Can’t do that. And so I sent this video to Cooper this morning. You’re welcome. And I sent him this best parenting decision I ever made was shielding you from this as your existence. That was almost as what I texted him. That is fantastic. Poor, you know, we need to have Lee call in just has the read receipts on. Huh? By the way, I watch the Yankees. I respond like that. Except there’s there’s a word that I can’t say on air. But in the middle, Mike, it’s not even they’re not. They’re not saying, you know, how they’re saying cuz it just cuz it matters to Mike. That’s all it is. That’s the only thing that’s connective tissue is it matters to him. That’s it. Yankees suck because the Yankees have nothing and the Jets at all in the same area code of existence as fans and it’s terrible what they’re going through right now. And Woody Johnson was asked at today’s owners meeting in New York about the current state of affairs cuz there’s people thinking about is Aaron Glenn going to eat it here and I hope not. Let’s hear the answer from Woody on this. What’s your confidence level in Aaron to turn it around? Well, he’s turn it looks like he’s turning around parts of it. You know, it’s hard when you have a quarterback with, you know, okay, with a rating that uh that we’ve got, you know, I mean, he has the ability, but something just is not jing. But if you look at any any head coach of a quarterback like that, you’re going to see similar results if you across the league. Wow. Somewhere Justin Fields’s ears are burning. Wolf just a Whoa. Whoa. Nice blow dark. Listen, it’s I don’t know what else to say. Was he going to lie? I mean, that’s I mean, Justin Fields had a great week one. He he won a couple of fantasy weeks for you. Maybe. Yeah, maybe. But I I I mean, you know, I he was in London just like I was in that stadium in Tottenham. Listen, I’m glad to hear that he feels that Aaron Glenn is doing the job appropriately. The guy started 010 and one with Dan Campbell. Look at them now. Look at them now. Can they win a game this year? I I think they they should. Their defense is good enough. I I I I just don’t know. I’m looking in college right now. Do you want to have the first overall pick in next year’s draft? Like, who’s who’s the guy to replace Justin Fields as the new hope of the Jets? Probably going to be Mendoza from Indiana. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, I don’t know, man. Ty Simpson is is rising. That’s the point is who are you who are you going to get like how what are you earning with all of these losses, but all I’m just going to say to this kid in in in New York, New Jersey, wherever you are, um I feel your pain and I wish the guy who was interviewing you would just give you a hug because this year it’s going to it’s not going to get any better, pal. It is just not. And I have been there and I My nephew Lee has been there and I saved my kids from being there. Sorry, folks. Well, the park’s closed. It’s not closed yet. I mean, at least it’s not closed for Aaron Aaron Glenn. Uh, I mean, let the guy do his gig. Let him instill the culture, but I mean to say that Justin Fields is going to hear that. And I don’t know if that doesn’t light a flame under him. I don’t know what it is cuz Rich Tamini is saying it’s going to be Tyrod Taylor. this week. Well, there you go. Wow. What an absolute total disaster for Justin Fields and the Jets halfway through. Total disaster. Total disaster. And Sauce was limping off and Garrett Wilson wasn’t playing. I mean, Hall has been subject to trade rumors for the last Well, then they should trade him. Yeah, they should trade him. Just trade him and get something cuz you are rebuilding. I I He’s been He’s been terrific. But I’ll tell you what, one of the teams that I heard that the Lions jumped the line four years ago for Jir Gibbs was the Jets. Oh, really? Yeah. Good for you. To put him put him I mean I I don’t I don’t know again like at some point the Jets are going to hit on a draft choice that is going to turn the franchise around. They hit on two of them. They got the rookies of the year and offense and defense and still and Quinnon Williams and Quincy’s coming back. He’s been a terrific player that the Jets have missed on defense. They should win some games this year. I mean, yeah, they should win some games. And then they got to get the quarterback right. Woody Johnson is not wrong. They did not get the quarterback right. And Justin Fields has got to look around and you know he said he told us in the broadcast meeting he is his own worst critic is what he said. And it has just been brutal. Terrible. But also again who’s the other receiver? Josh Reynolds was receiver too. The one of the stats I had in front of me for that game Jets and the Broncos. Garrett Wilson was the only wide receiver on the Jets going into that game with double-digit targets. Josh Reynolds was number two on that list with eight going into that game. Alan Lazard, one of Rogers BFFs coming in, has been one big massive free agent disappointment. I think he dropped another one this past week. Mason Taylor looks good. Yeah, he looks all right. But this poor kid, I hate this team. Just pick a new one, bro. He’s born into it. You’re born into it. You’re a kid. Show him how to root for somebody else. He’s born into it. The Giants seem fun. Like, just roof for them. Oh yeah. Oh my god. I’ve been there and done that. But everybody, stop texting me that video. I’ve seen it. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. Rich…my dude…its Woody. Literally that simple. I see a possible 0-17 by years end no matter the QB even with a D playing OK but not really that good to compensate. By the way you noticed what Sheppard has done with the Lions D this year? Is AG really the guy to turn around the Jets?

  2. "I was born into this". This is me being a Minnesota sports fan and a lifelong Vikings fan. This hits hard understand the pain. We're the worst sports city in America. 30 years old never once seen any of my teams ever win anything.

  3. I'm sorry but being a Minnesota Vikings fan is the worst. Most snake bitten cursed team of all time. It's worse than the Jets. They give you hope every year and it gets torn down. Highest wins and hall of famers than any other team not to win. 10 NFC Championship losses, 4 Super Bowls. I'd rather be a Jets fan at least they have a ring.

  4. Jets will win 2 or 3 games this season. Second half of the season is easier on paper anyway. The defence last 2 especially have been better and I think they need a big defensive play and TD maybe to get over the line.

  5. He should be thanking his stars hes not a Giants fan. At least you know what you're getting with the Jets. The giants think they can actually do something every year, and always think they're "only one piece away". When if you zoom out a bit you realise the whole organisation is a dumpster fire since Coughlin retired.

  6. I think the Jets should skip a QB in the draft and pick up one of the "rehab" QBs (think Darnold, Gino, etc.) instead. Oh, wait, most of them are already ex-Jets….

  7. Rich Eisen is a waste of time he would have a hard time saying Justin Fields isnt a good player he wants everyone on his show instead of talking facts

  8. I think its unfair to blame Justin Fields and in that same interview, Woody Johnson states the defence is doing good. How so? Three games have Jets kept opposing offenses under 20 points and Jets lost all 3. Every other game the Jets have gave up 27+ points, its not Justin Fields fault.

I feel bad for Fields, every year of his carear he has had a different playcaller and a different playbook to learn. Yet he was blamed in Chicago, he was benched after 4-2 start with Steelers, and now blamed in New York.

  9. Just don’t compare the lions and Dan Campbell to what the Jets are going through. The Jets had way more talent in the beginning but the Lions have way more ownership, management and coaching talent now that Glenn is gone than the Jets

  10. I don’t see how the Jets will get the picks that will turn the franchise around. If they got both the defensive and offensive rookies of the year in the same draft and still can’t win means it is the organization.
