Steelers to Consider Signing Aaron Rodgers for Another Season

  1. If Arod’s up for it, might as well?

We need good QB play and our young guys need a capable mentor. Who better than Arod?

  2. Wow, very insightful story.

    >Graziano writes that if you ask people with the Steelers whether they’d consider bringing Rodgers back in 2026, “the answer would be a resounding yes.”

The question isn’t whether or not the steelers would want to retain him, it’s whether or not Rodgers would want to return to football.

  3. They should as long as Rodgers wants to. Dude has been absolutely fire so far. He brings so much to the offense and is tied for the league lead in touchdown passes. He’s a tremendous leader. The players love him, and it really jumped out at me at training camp how he was still pretty involved even on his veteran rest day. He was in Mason Rudolph’s ear the whole time, and Mason was hanging on every word he said. He was helping Will Howard too although Howard was working more closely with Tom Arth based on what I observed, and that’s normal.

This upcoming QB class looks even worse than last year in all honesty. I liked Dart a lot last year, so that’s been a bit validating, but I don’t see anyone I like even as much as Dart yet, and if I did, they are going to be a New York Jet, Cleveland Brown, or Las Vegas Raider as we’ll be drafting too late. Run it back with this squad next year and see what happens.

  4. Steelers can consider it all they want. Will the 42yo play anywhere but Minnesota and does the team need that kind of off-season?

  5. It’s a no-brainer if Rodgers still wants to play past this year. He’s far and away the best QB we’ve had since 2018 Big Ben.

  6. The best thing for the development of Will Howard, or whoever we try to turn into a franchise QB, is 2-3 years under a great. Add in our o-line getting more cohesive, if we can resign Arod we need to

  7. Lmao. Same shit every year. Keep telling yourselves they’re ever gonna spend real fucking capital on a franchise QB

  8. I’d kill for him to play in 26′ as well. Gives him another shot with hopefully an even better rebuilt team than this years. Right now it looks like the defense is going to be own downfall, giving up 30+ in half our games to bad offenses.

  9. Well there goes my Rodgers retires and Flacco signs for a year to complete the King of the AFCNorth achievement hopes.

  10. I’m fine with Howard learning beside him for another year before getting his shot.

I don’t think he comes back unless we go deep into the playoffs though like if we lose 45-31 in the wc (as per the standard) then he walks

  11. Right now it sounds like a great idea, but when QBs fall, they fall HARD. Brady, Manning, Favre, and others went from MVP candidates to absolute liabilities within the span of a year or two. Does Rodgers want to still be playing when he hits that tipping point? This first season isn’t even over yet.

What if we have a rookie on the roster next year who outplays him in camp? Does Rodgers want to be a backup or play under the pretense that he could end up benched? I doubt it.

If we could get Fall of 2025 Rodgers for another season and a half and there’s no QB of the future next year, then sign me up. But there’s still a lot of uncertainty.

  12. The football equivalent to leaving the shampoo bottle upside down for the next shower so you can squeeze the dying drops out of it because you’re too lazy to go buy more

  13. The best reasonable scenario for the Steelers is that Rodgers continues to play at this level for the rest of the season and decides he would like to continue playing football next year. Provides a clear starter for 2026 and a mentor for whatever QB we draft.

I firmly believe 2026 is the year to draft a QB but a playoff win could open the door to delaying on a QB. I mean if we drafted a WR+CB and packaged some extra 2026 picks for earlier 2027 picks it wouldn’t be terrible.

  14. Is Arod can keep this level and health it’s a no brainer. As long as Arod can accept you drafting a 1st round QB and be ok to be benched mid season depending on how the team looks.

Also there’s a good chance he might just take another 10 mil per year contract. Steelers getting Rodgers this year has been a very underrated deal.

  15. I fucking love Rodgers with this team. People are sleeping on him so hard because he’s old, if he was playing exactly the way he is now but was younger the narrative around the league would be that he’s a top 10 QB in the league right now. He is playing great football, and I am thrilled with it.

  16. I was hesitant at first but he’s playing great. It’s the defense we need to worry about.

  17. I wouldn’t mind signing him to another year or two, his been a highlight to this team, and it’s perfect time to use next years picks on defense since there aging out. However we can’t keep kicking the can down the road with QB.

  18. Like an idiot, i was anti-rodgers before he signed. But besides the few mistakes and/or bs calls that turned the ball over last game, i would enjoy having rodgers another year if he can continue to click with the offense

  19. Where the Rodgers haters at? Some of yinz dipshits said you wouldn’t even watch this year because of Rodgers lmao

  20. Curious what happened to all those fans who said they’d stop watching if he was QB lol. Another year off I guess?

  21. until he cant anymore. Brady retired at 45, won his last ring at 43. Why the fuck not?

  22. ~~Can’t believe i’m fuckin saying this~~ Hell yeah. I hope he can ball out for us for another few years and let howard develop under him

  23. I’m from NYC, so admittedly, I fell for the A-Rod slander in the press and wasn’t stoked on him signing with us. But man, it feels great to be wrong.

Dude can still ball, and his football IQ is unmatched. If he’s capable (and willing), then I’d happily take him another year. So long as he continues to match the first half of this season, of course.

  24. I’m not falling for this again. Last year we were ready to resign Fields AND Russ after a few good games. He needs to keep this play up the entire season before I’d even think of entertaining this.

  25. I’m all for it based on how he’s played this season. This is the best QB play we’ve had since Ben injured his elbow however many years ago that was.

  26. Idk why he’d want to tbh. With the inconsistency of the o line (admittedly been improving , but nearly got him murdered to start), the atrocious defense, and one decent receiver.
