Per Mark Bowman, Dodgers bench coach Danny Lehmann is currently the frontrunner for the Braves job. Other candidates being considered include Cubs bench coach Ryan Flaherty and Tigers bench coach George Lombard.

Notably, he reports that Walt Weiss and Eddie Perez are not being looked at.

  1. Well, I absolutely love the first line…

    > Now that the Angels have hired Kurt Suzuki as their next skipper, it would make sense for the Braves to name Tyler Flowers as their new manager.

  2. > Snitker’s bench coach, Walt Weiss, and longtime Braves coach Eddie Perez were seemingly the top internal candidates. But their potential candidacies seemed to die *when the Braves didn’t persuade Snitker to manage at least one more year.*

    Emphasis mine…Hm.

  3. George Lombard is a low-key dark horse pick. I think he’d do pretty well here.

  4. Three solid choices. Not sure how speculative Bow’s source was being. Definitely not like the Braves front office to show their cards like this. Wouldn’t be surprised if AA has an inside track on Lehmann but would like to see him move quickly if he does! I’m guessing all will be getting attention from the Padres, Orioles, Nats, and Twins as well. Personally, I’d rank those choices as: 1. Lombard, 2. Flaherty, 3. Lehmann. I value years spent in an MLB dugout and connection to the Braves over other factors.

  5. I’d like to apply. My qualifications: have watched several baseball games, can still throw a curveball, forklift certified, favorite movie is the sandlot. Waiting for the call, Mr Anthopoulos

  6. I wonder who his sources are. I’m not used to hearing so many details reported lol
