Lindy Ruff On Noah Ostlund Joining Sabres Lineup, Detroit Red Wings Matchup, & More
Is Jordan Greenway in a position that maybe you can get him by the weekend? Uh, I don’t believe so. He’s just uh he’s still in the u early stages. Don’t have a date for him yet. Colton Ellis, what have you seen from Colton Nell since he’s been here? His work habits and those types of things uh since you’ve been able to have him in round at practice. Uh, you know, everything’s been awesome. Yeah, extremely hard worker and um spends uh all the extra time with uh after practice with with the the extra guys and and uh he’s put a lot of extra work in. Noah Osen is looking like he’s going to slide in there tonight. What do you like about his game? What have you liked what you’ve seen of him? You know, got a small sample last year. Um so you know get another look at him. Um really put together a nice year in in Rochester and uh plays well defensively and hoping uh you know he can had something offensively with us too at the same time. I don’t know if we saw the you know the capabilities that that he’s got last year but I think it it’s definitely there. Did you see him? Was he maybe paying a lot of attention to his defensive game or maybe, you know, he didn’t really get the chances offensively when he was here for those? I I think it’s typical when a a young guy gets called up a lot of times. He’s, you know, cast in that a little bit different role. I think tonight he’s going to get a pretty good look really with us. So, uh, we may get to see a little bit more Paul, but I I think, you know, young guys that step in the lineup, especially, uh, you know, the first, you know, 10 games, maybe a lot of times you’re they want to make sure they don’t hurt the team before they help them. And I I think last year when he stepped in the position we were in, he he played a really good defensive game and we didn’t see the I think the offensive capabilities with UPL going to Rochester. What’s the plan for his conditioning purposes and what’s the timeline for his return to Buffalo? Practiced yesterday, had a had a real good day. Uh we’ll play in Rochester and then we’ll just evaluate uh from there. That’s the plan to see how how that goes. Hopefully it goes really well and we go from there. the difference in Yuri the last couple games is just he’s more authority um more aggressive just what’s been the difference in Yeah I think he’s really actually found his legs he’s really skating again uh if you look at u you know those first couple games uh didn’t notice his skating he’s got his legs again uh you know he had the one shift in Montreal went by everybody and had had a great opportunity and he’s been in on you know three or four opportunities every game since and and I’ve most of the time give it credit to his legs are moving. Last year Payton Krebs can do anything you asked him to do. Do you think struggle a little bit to start this year? Yeah. Uh for sure. I’ve met with him a couple times. You know, we’ve had conversations about his game. Um you know, and I think that there there is more there. I think he has struggled. Um, so I, you know, I think some of it is p managing the puck hasn’t been hasn’t been his strong suit. I think he needs to manage the puck better. His physicality can be just on the puck can be better. You know, that was a strength of his. Um, you know, so I think he’s he’s struggling a little bit to find his game. What do you need to see from Jason Zooker, especially if he’s, you know, playing with with Osland and Quinn? you know, some younger guys like to have a veteran down there. What are you looking to see from him? Just uh, you know, for a line to, you know, play well. Uh, you know, I think you’ve got a, again, with Austin, you’ve got a guy that can can skate through the middle, can make a lot of lot of plays. He defends well. Uh, you know, I look at it that Quinn, if you get him in the right position, he’s he’s a guy that doesn’t need some guys need four or five chances to score. He needs usually one or two, sometimes only one. So, I think uh just looking for a little bit of offensive chemistry there and u a line that plays well defensively. How have you seen Zack Benson evolve since you came back to Buffalo? Uh just, you know, I think compete his strength is better, his quickness, uh I think he’s improved in in all those areas this past summer and you look at last year injury I think kind of hurt him. the ankle injury that you took him out of the lineup for a good period of time was was kind of a setback. But uh I think since he’s been back in the lineup, you look at what he’s done with our power play and um his five on five play uh you know is good. He’s he’s like I said, he’s in on four or five great opportunities and I think some of those will start turning into goals here soon. Jacob Bryson still in concussion protocol. Yeah, he skated this morning. him and Keler Ring both skated early. Is Michael close to practicing? Maybe uh I you know I didn’t get a report after after he was postgame uh or postm morning skate uh workout. So uh I I can tell you I’m hoping by the by the weekend um maybe a long shot he could practice uh Thursday. Thanks

Go Sabres
Based on his skill set, Ostlund has to be in the top six. If not, he should be in Rochester.
