NFL is cracking down on All-22 film analysis for some reason.

  1. Sure would be a shame to have fans gain a deeper understanding of the game. Keep up the good work, NFL

  2. The recent trend across sports of “be openly hostile toward people who want to consume your product” is confusing to say the least.

  3. I’m guessing the NFL wants to try and corner the market on this type of content. Or, they want to try and license out the footage in a new deal that ensures they get a cut of revenue people make from analysis videos.

Community analysts may have to turn to using still images in place of clips for their videos. Or go to more traditional articles using many stills to properly help people understand the subject.

As someone who has loved dissecting film and learning more about football, this fucking sucks.

  4. They’re following the MLB method. They want to control the flow of clips so that they can then monetize it appropriately. That crackdown was part of why MLBAM is worth so much

  5. Shame. Wasn’t it just last year that they opened up all 22 access? The content has been amazing.

  6. Dang. This could put Greg Bedard out of business, his site does all around coverage of the Pats all year but the real highlight is his extensive all-22 work every week.

  7. For the same reason they fined the JSN dunk and then promoted it – they’re a bunch of nepo baby petty tyrants that wouldn’t be successful in any venture where they didn’t have a product that sold itself. Roger Goodell has the IQ of a brick.

  8. Makes sense. It takes views away from any content they put out. They’re greedy fucks, they want their cut.

  9. I think this is pretty short sighted. One of the best things about NFL-fandom in recent years is finding creators who breakdown film on your favorite team. It’s made me a far more invested and educated fan. Now the NFL is going to try to find a way to get their cut from this space… by ruining the space lol

They already get 12 bucks a month from each of these creators!

  10. Can’t understand the reasoning behind this unless they’re offering a higher tier subscription to post on social. It promotes the game

  11. orlovsky recently said he wasnt allowed to post anymore either, its a shame cuz his breakdowns are really good

  12. Peak greed/capitalism. Brought in 13 billion last year but it’s never enough for these people.

  13. What the fuck are we doing man? I don’t understand how this benefits the league or the fans (although it’s clear they don’t give a fuck about them)

  14. I’ll never understand why leagues do this

Like why is someone spreading your game bad, even if your aren’t *directly* profiting off this particular guy posting stuff you are *indirectly* profiting from allowing the popularity of the sport to grow. It’s not like the NFL is hurting for money, feels like they’re shooting themselves in the foot

MLB is the worst at this. Why is the NBA the only one to figure this out

  15. wonder if this is going to kill youtube channels like the QB school. Thatd be a tragedy

  16. How long were Taylor’s clips? I’m assuming they were longer, and he gave commentary?

I’m trying to clarify because JP Acosta and Nate Tice show clips of plays on Bluesky pretty regularly.

  17. This sucks. I pay for all22 and i can analyze it myself, but it takes time. People are building livelihoods rn doing breakdowns.

  18. I remember Dan Orlovsky pointing out that he couldn’t post footage anymore, either.

I guess that’s why some folks are now running all-22 footage through various weird filters. . . .

  19. I have a sneaking suspicion it’s “Please stop analyzing our players and pointing out how they are doing things wrong or well so people are not so informed and make better bets.” Why the hell else would they care?

  20. I got a notification from the nfl fantasy football app I could see this weeks “all pro 22 film” but I’d have to pay.

I assume this is because of that

  21. Cant have educated fans. What the NFL needs is more “analyst” yelling over each other

  22. Big surprise that the NFL doesn’t want anyone to show proof of their CHEATING. Disgusting.

  23. This isn’t surprising. Literally state that you can’t use their film. People will just get better at putting shaders on etc and get around it. This weird era of not doctoring NFL footage was bound to end.

  24. Why would the NFL do this? The most obvious reason would be to avoid people reviewing plays and seeing missed penalties or penalties that shouldn’t have been called. Couldn’t be the most obvious reason though because that’s too obvious.

  25. The NFL is using the same tactic as politicians. The dumber your audience the easier they are to control.
