Aaron Glenn Press Conference (10/17) | New York Jets
Good morning. Morning. All right. We have three guys that’s really under the same uh designation, which would be Garrett, Stiggers, and Cam. Uh those guys will be doubtful. And early on in practice, those guys will be working with the trainers and then we’ll see how that goes when they transition into practice. Uh Michael Carter, he’ll be at full practice. He’s in the last stage of his protocol. Um and Josh Reynolds, he’ll be in full practice also. So, um, other than those guys, I think we, uh, we’re good when it comes to this week. The focus of this week is, um, winning this game. Um, hands down, point blank. Um, but also making sure that we improve. There’s no way to consistently win without improving. So, um, the guys have done a good job of that. We know we have a lot of work to to do and running away from where we are. Um, but again, uh, we’re looking to improve. Uh, even today, you know, we’re going out there for this red zone practice and improve. So, um, any questions? We, um, we spoke to Justin Wednesday, I guess it was. Yeah. Said, uh, he had a confusion at the Miami game that was kind of bothering on his leg a little bit. Yeah. Do you think that affected him the last couple of games maybe that he might be able to use those legs a little bit more this week? Well, he answered you guys questions on how he felt about that. Um, but anytime we have a chance, if you’re out there, we’re going to try to use his legs. Uh, every game is different. Uh, I think I said that earlier in the week. How we want to utilize him. The thing we don’t want to do is um put him in a situation where um we have to make sure we protect him from himself a lot of times too. So um he’s our quarterback and we want to make sure that we utilize him the right way. With the pass protection uh moving forward, what can you guys do to shore things up against blitzes because a lot of teams are doing that against you guys. Yeah. Well, first off, we just have to execute the right way. And there’s a number of things we can do as far as keeping guys in um when it comes to protecting our quarterback, too. Um and we we utilize some of those things. But what that also does is is not allow guys to get out into a route. So, and it’s really some of our good players, you know, for Bree Mason. Sometimes we keep those guys in for extra protection. Um but there are other times and we just got to get the ball out of our hands, allow those guys to to make catches and space and and go to work. How how important is it going to be to get Reese a little more involved in the pass game? I know that was a big topic coming into the season that you said you wanted to make sure he got that. Absolutely. And that’s something that we um that we look at every week and does it always work to that point? No, it doesn’t. You know, it goes to what the question was just asked. Sometimes we got to keep him in protection. Um so he’s not able to get out in the route and be to receive some of those passes that we want to get to him. Um but it’s always important to try to get the ball in his hands. He’s one of our better players. Um, I’ve always said that when it’s either running the ball or throwing it to him, uh, we want to try to make sure we do that. Aaron, what have you thought of Will McDonald through kind of the first six games and just what have you seen from him? Yeah, obviously he started on fire the first game, but having the two sacks in that game, um, the thing is we got to try to do everything we can to try to get him involved as much as we can as far as the pass rush is concerned. Uh, he’s a special athlete. We all know that. Um, he has a trait that we want to take advantage of. Um, and we just got to try to utilize that as much as possible. But I do think he’s been doing a good job. I mean, obviously there’s some things that he’s need to work on just like any other player. Um, but I’m happy with where he’s at. Last year he had I think it was like seven sacks for the first six games or something. Just when when he maybe doesn’t get those at the same rate, how have you maybe tried to help him navigate that or how have you seen him sort of navigate maybe just not stats being there? Well, you you don’t panic for one and the thing is you just don’t go outside of your defense to try to make things like that happen. Sometimes you try to get them as many one-on- ones as you can uh just by utilizing sever several fronts uh that would get them a one-on-one. And the more you can do that, the more those sacks come um and even pressures too. You know, you know, we still have a long way to go as far as the season’s concerned. And um we’re still looking forward to him getting those sacks. Uh Justin talked about this, you talked about this also, just getting the ball out quicker. He said like you got to go like one, two, three, get it out. Yeah. Yeah. Is there anything that you could do or that he could do really at this point in the season to like work on that and and really get it out and make it fast enough that process? I know that’s a huge topic that everyone talks about, but sometimes um there’s a lot that goes into that and when you look at um the time he gets the ball out, you know, some of those have been some of his best games when he’s holding the ball, you know, 3 seconds or whatnot. Um, and it’s who he is and sometimes it’s it’s play calls and and the way that he see things. So, um, and I’m not sitting here saying that he doesn’t need to get get the ball out. There’s some quick game, you know, where the ball has to come out and you work on those in practice, but there’s also an element of we know who that player is. You look at Lamar, I think Lamar, his um, his numbers getting ball a lot is higher than Justin. I think Jos Allen’s numbers are higher than Justin’s. Um, but I think everybody tends to see who those guys are and understand that and for some reason they don’t understand um, Justin. But listen, I’m not sitting there saying that that there’s some times where he got to get the ball a lot. He knows that. Um he articulated that to you uh you guys and um and we’re going to continue to work on that as much as we can. How have you felt overall about the offensive line play? Um listen, I really like, you know, where our guys are at. I I I really do. Um but just like any other team, just like any other player, uh there’s room for improvement. And I think, you know, from last week, man, there were some things that we got to improve on when it comes to the pressures and things like that. Um, but there are some weeks I thought, you know, we were very dominant as an offensive line, and we have to get back to that as much as we can. Um, but listen, I I do like where we’re at. Can we improve? Absolutely. Um, and those guys have a lot of pride about themselves and how they go about practice and how they go about in the game. So, I’m expecting them to improve from last week uh when it comes to the pressure that they received. Take a couple more with Arian Smith. Uh with Garrett possibly not playing. Um what are your thoughts on an increased role from this weekend? He has four catches in six games. Is he still learning the router? Is he still getting comfortable with the offense? Why not a little more from him so far? Well, I think he’s just learned in general as a as a rookie. And just there’s there’s only so many balls that can go around when you have Gary, when you have Breeze, when you have Mason, when you have all these guys, um, some people tend not to understand that part of that. Everybody can’t get the ball, but he’s doing his job well. Uh, again, just like anybody else, there are some things he can improve on. And, um, we’re not saying Garrett’s not playing, all right? But if Garrett doesn’t play, we have other guys that have to step up, and he’s one of them. So, uh, that’s one guy that can get more action when it comes to that. We want to make sure that man Bree gets it, Mason gets it, obviously Aryan, Josh, Lazard, all those guys get a chance to to get the ball at some point. I assume Garrett, you know, obviously wants to get out there. Do you have to, you know, kind of protect him from himself and just make sure you don’t allow him to do that? Well, that that’s a lot of guys. Um, we have a a number of competitive guys. Um, but I’ll let him and the doctors handle that for the most part. If you’re curious, you know, you’ve delivered the message here a few times. Yep. This is an instant coffee. You know, the ship’s going to take a while to turn around. Yep. I think when you’re coming in here, you’re talking to us, you’re talking to fans, when you’re talking to a guy like Quinn Williams. Yep. Right. It’s in his seventh season. Hasn’t had a playoff game yet. You know better than anybody. Leaders are not forever, right? Yeah. How do you how do you talk to Quinn about that? That’s That’s a really good question because those are the hardest conversations to have. Um, especially when you’re talking to a group of of of young guys and and getting them to understand that, man, there has to be a foundation that has to be set. And before um before you can consistently win, I keep saying that word because there’s there’s things you have to do to consistently win. And before you can do that, there are things there’s groundwork that has to be laid. Um, I mean, I experienced that with, like I said, with New Orle with Detroit. experienced that as a player here and when you’re talking to a player like that, like he he’s a huge part of what we’re doing and his leadership um will continually help with that. So, kind of directing that message more on man, your leadership, the way that you operate, the way that you influence the other guys. And I know that you’ve been in the league seven years, but who says we can’t get this thing going by this week? Who says we can’t get this thing going going in by this week going into next year? because I experienced that. You know, we started 010 and one, three and 13. Listen, that’s not good. We started 1 and six at the beginning of the season, then we go 8-2, end up nine and eight. That’s a turnaround. That and we’re fighting for the playoffs. So, though that will be that’s a meaningful game for him to be a part of. So, I’ve been a part of that and those are my conversations with him is um just like I tell the fans, like I tell you guys, don’t let go of the road because there’s still a lot more time to get this thing done and we are building the foundation to make sure there’s stability and what we’re doing. I understand we’re 0 and6 I’m with you, man. But we’re trying to build something to move forward. with Michael Carter here. With Michael Carter coming back to practice, uh, and with Jarvis Brownley, his performance, how do you sort of weigh a player that’s been in your system now for a few months and someone that’s relatively new, but had such a great game the previous week? Well, both of those guys will have packages where they’ll be playing, you know, but the thing is we got to make sure that Michael Carter finish it out his stage as far as protocols concerned. Um, but when it comes to practice, we have packages for both of those guys. Listen, we can’t deny that Brownley uh did a really good job last week, but we also can’t deny that Michael Carter has done a good job, too. So, um when you have two players like that, you just make packages for both of those guys to be on the field. Thank you very much. No rights.

Justin had the best release in the first 6 games last year in the first 6 games of ALL QUARTERBACKS in the NFL. This COACH is IDEAL to lead the SORRY FRANCHISE out of the ABYSS. The Jets are STARTING FROM ZERO and JUSTIN FIELDS is FRANCHISE. IT TAKES TIME and the RIGHT PLAYERS. Jets FANS, BE PATIENT. You have some of the PLAYERS.
Fire Glenn!!!!
1-6 ✈️
I will always support you AG #31. Ignore the noise and keep grinding
Can we not turn on AG yet yall
"Well, Dan Campbell started off 0–10…"
Let’s not forget — Campbell took over a Lions team fresh off the Stafford trade with a completely gutted roster. That was easily the worst roster in the NFL.
This Jets team? Way more talented. From a pure roster standpoint, this is a playoff-caliber team.. Starting 0–6 with this level of talent isn’t just disappointing — it’s flat-out inexcusable. That’s on coaching.
Pen15 licking and circle jerking it’s crazy he’s out his mind
He’s such a badass. Lmfao
Bla Bla Bla Bla. Word salad
Just stfu.
At this point the season is over
A win against Panthers ….. it's possible
the “Quarterback” can PROTECT HIMSELF by getting RID OF THE BALL quickly!!
Glenn’s obsession with Fields is fucking insane man, this dude just tried justifying him playing like ass by comparing his stats to Lamar and Josh who are top 5 QB’s. Please one and done Woody
KEEP POUNDING !!!!
This idiot is really mentioning Lamar and Allen with fields. Smh.
That bill to the cap is tucked down quite low… lol
Same old platitudes.
We haven’t hit rock bottom yet somehow
Why is he covering the shame with a hat? The only choice you have my brother is to take it like a man. Trust me there are a lot behind you that you don't know. And they can be very painful if you find out. Unfortunately.
Lets go jf7. I believe in yall . This jets fan base already jump ship. Coach already told yall it take time to build. Only the man first year and yall already want him gone. This systèm put together is still in the first year dam . Give it time . If next year is the same way
Then yall can say what yall want . Until then stfu. Cause before he got here . The jets aint been good. So give the man time . Im just saying the backlash need to stop . Let the season play out and if it end in a positive way . That something too build on . Facts. I dislike a bias fan base.
This is his first year, and I am giving him time. I'm trusting the process. I was never looking for us to be in the playoffs this year
its not just about getting the ball out, Fields can't process quick enough to be an NFL QB. He can't throw with anticipation or into tight windows and sadly you need to be able to do that in the NFL. Just being physically talented isn't enough. There's also a reason they never call screen plays, his accuracy won't allow for that. That's a problem. They tried in pre season and saw he couldn't consistantly do it. The Jets woes are not all his fault though, team talent and coaching are against him also.
GARBAGE
This guy is DROWNING!
