TIGERS POSTCAST: STILL ALIVE! Detroit Tigers STAVE OFF Elimination With Win Over Seattle Mariners
This is the Tigers Post Cast, your instant game reaction for the Detroit Tigers, part of the Locked On Network. Your team every day. Baseball is the craziest, wildest, most unpredictable sport. Playoff baseball at Com Park. Never count this Tigers team out. Hand up. Listen, there’s no better way to start this live locked on Tigers post guest than admitting I was so wrong and threw in the towel. And that’s what playoff baseball does. Welcome into a live locked on Tigers postcast. I am your host Jake Rema. You can follow me on Twitter, Jake_Rma. And the Tigers stave off elimination 9 to3 winners over the Seattle Mariners. What a comeback win. We’ll take you through it. The bats woke up. Have a day. Javi Bayz. Oh my goodness. And how about Riley Green? There he is. He’s alive. There’s a pulse there. Riley Green with the go-ahad home run. We’ll discuss that. Of course, I’ll have my biggest talking point, our turning point. And we will look ahead to the winner. Take all game five in Seattle. Cannot wait for that. So, buckle up, dial it in. It’s the live lockdown Tigers post. Make sure you like today’s video. Go ahead and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. There’s no better time than right now. It doesn’t cost you anything. It is free and the Tigers and Mariners are playing a game five. Your comments are always welcome. Fire up that comment section. Would love to hear from you and let’s discuss. But right now, we begin with the biggest talking point. This is what you’ll be talking about. Com Park was dead. This team was dead. Playoff baseball, everything you could chalk up that went wrong in the beginning portion of this game did. There was no life. The fans had nothing to cheer about. There was a ton of empty seats, but somehow someway this team found its mojo. They found their tigerness. They found their identity. They they became big league ball players again. And I I don’t think you can make enough of that fifth and sixth inning where the innings where the Tigers score seven runs. The bats woke up. I don’t know what magic what what took over Kica Park, but it was incredible to see. It was inspiring to see as the Mariners and I think you could make the case the Mariners left some runs out there, especially in that fourth inning. uh with only the one run when the bases were loaded with nobody out. And listen, again, I tweeted this out and I take full ownership, full accountability. Today’s not about me by any means, but again, hand up. I’ll take full accountability. I tweeted out, “This team’s not likable. Kria Park is dead.” And that was all true in the moment, but that’s what we love about sports. And if you want to come at me for saying, “Oh yeah, you quit on the team you didn’t believe.” Listen, I’ll wear it because I wasn’t the only one. That’s for sure. and I was going off of what we had and I’ve never been more happy to be wrong. And again, I fully admit that. But you got to give it up for this Tigers team that refused to quit. They refused to die. And we’ve got a winner take all. But let’s go through those uh fifth and sixth innings for the Tigers. In the fifth inning, the Dylan Dingler double to score Zack McKinstry. Jamai Jones, who was pinch hitting, he gets the double to left to score Dylan Dingler. And then Jav Bayz. What a day for Jav Bayz. The first of three different RBI for Javi. He gets the single, scoring Jamai Jones. And the game is tied. Uh jump ahead to the six. And that is when Riley Green, that might be the swing we talk about for years and years and years to come if this thing continues, is Riley Green breaking that 3-3 tie with an absolute moonshot into right and the home run swing that yes, we talk about the strikeouts quite a bit, but every now and then it yields a big time home run like we saw from Riley Green. And again, they were talking about on the national telecast because when you look at this Tigers team, Riley Green is the guy that you think, okay, that’s this Tigers kind of quote unquote superstar. I mean, he’s an all-star. He’s the face of the position players with this teams. Obviously, Terub is the best player on this team from a pitching standpoint, but you just needed something from Riley Green, and he finally finally finally delivered and that was great to see. And from there, the floodgates open. Hitting is contagious. I heard several people say that and that is the case. Zack McKinstry gets the single to score Spencer Tolson, who by the way, Spencer Torqulson deserves a lot of credit as well. Two for four today. Two more hits. Zack McKinstry with three hits. He did get picked off uh first though that one time. So, of course, we got to slide that in. But my goodness, the hit parade continued with just incredible approaches at bats at the plate. And then Jav Bayas with that home run to left, a two-run shot to make it seven to three. And that basically put it out to re out of reach. But oh yeah, Glaver Torres with a home run in the seventh as well. And then Jav Bayas hustling out a fieldielder’s choice in the eighth to add a little exclamation point on it. So hey, the offense comes alive. The quick hook of of um Casey M was something we are going to discuss. I had that in my notes to get to at some point obviously, but hey, when the offense comes out and plays the way that they did and are able to fend off elimination and extend the series to a game number five in Seattle, that’s going to be the talking point of this one. So, let’s take some comments. There’s a million to get to. And what a whirlwind of emotions, which again, I’ve said this the uh pretty much every single playoff postgame show, but if you’re new around here, like the podcast or like the video and subscribe and everything else, but if you’re new around here, listen, that’s what this team is going to do to you. And I don’t think there’s any reason to make any kind of apologies for the roller coaster ride that we’re in. And we call it how it is. I mean, this team hadn’t won a home game since September the 6th. The nine runs in a playoff game was the most since the 84 team. I believe they said that on the broadcast. I’m sure someone will fact check me in the comments if that’s not true. But the improbable nature of the comeback. Listen, tip of the cap, curtain call, everything else because it was so unexpected, but this Tigers team finds a way. And that was uh I I still listen, I still feel the same way that I did. And in that moment, you know, the whole no regrets thing, I felt that way about this team being hard to root for. I felt what I felt when I said it on last night’s show about this being who this team is. But at the end of the day, there are Detroit Tigers and we’re going to root like hell for them. And that was what today was all about. Good point here from Gray Matter, and I haven’t mentioned it yet, and that might in fact be one of our turning points today. There was a lot of turning points, but the appearance of in relief from Troy Melton, absolutely incredible. Only 16 appearances in the regular season, and Troy Melton is looking like he belongs. Again, the three scoreless innings that Troy Melton provided, this game is not uh I truly believe the Tigers don’t win this game without Troy Melton’s three scoreless innings. So, you get Casey Me going three. He gives up the one earn run. And then Holton um even though uh you know he loads the bases with and loads the bases and they only score the one run off of it because Finnegan gets the double play which was really important and they talked about that. Should you have gone home with it? No. You’ve turned the double play there. You get the two outs. You give up the one run and now you’re down two nothing. And again, I felt like when the Mariners went up 3 nothing with that um Cal Raleigh single to uh score a Rose Arena in the fifth, it felt like this game was over, but in fact it was just beginning. Demetrius McNeil, he’s a regular. He says, “Come TGIF, one team plays for the American League Championship Series, the other you see next year. DJ, take us home from booze to cheers.” There were a lot of booze at Com Park. Again, I don’t blame the fans for for the booing. I really don’t. Okay, Ewurn is up next. Yep. Like I wrote yesterday, gritty tides had Mariners right where they wanted him. Overconfident. The booze after his previous at bat must have had a positive effect on Green. Jav 9 for 25. Yeah, Jav’s been tremendous this entire postseason. You got to give him a ton of credit. That’s for sure. Um, so much to continue to break down and I think Nate Harlo says it best here. What the blank? This team makes absolutely no sense. Laughing, crying emoji. Really looked like they were trying to lose in the beginning and they and hey, look, we forced to game five in the ALDS. I’ll take it though. Exactly. That’s that’s how we’re going to go to break because that is exactly how I feel as well. We’ll look ahead to game number five. The Tigers have Ter Scubble going in that one and we will continue to wrap about this one. Our biggest turning point and our player of the game is next. Now live lockdown tigers postcast. There is still a ton of emotions. The ups, the downs, the twists, the turns. We just call it playoff baseball. on the Tigers force a pivotal winner take all game number five back in Seattle 9 to3 the final another cross-country flight for both these teams we’ll see how that plays a factor in all of this but the end of the day the Detroit Tigers have TKO going on the mound Friday and the Mariners I’m not sure who who is that a word who who they will have but uh 340 first pitch pitch. Looking forward to that. And oh, by the way, that’s right. This Tigers team has all of the momentum if you believe in momentum. All right, deep breaths. Deep breaths, Jake. Again, I I love the Detroit Tigers. They make me mad. They make me happy. And everything else in between. And uh they’re forcing a game five ALDS. What do we got to do now? That’s right. It is our turning point. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. Let’s have a little fun with this one. Let’s break that entire little intro down. Time to re reveal where the game was won or lost. I think the game was won with the Riley Green home run. Now, the turning point, let’s get let’s really dissect this here. The turning point is in that uh fourth inning where the Tigers have the base or I should say the Mariners have the bases loaded, nobody out, and they get one run on just the RBI uh not even RBI because it’s a double play. You get what I’m trying to say? I’m just not doing a good job of articulating it. The double play that results in just the one run because then back come the Mariners in the fifth. They get another run and it’s only 3 nothing. Now, I say only for the Tigers and the way this offense is, it felt like three nothing might as well been 10 nothing. It really did. However, 3 nothing and the Tigers come back from it. That was a turning point only getting the one run there. And again, where the game was won, that Riley Green home run. And let’s just go ahead and continue the Tiger avalanche of runs. All of those insurance runs. We’ll see what kind of an impact it has on the team moving forward into game five. But if you believe in momentum like I do, this Tiger team now believes and I do too. So I kind of feel like Michael Scott, you know, I am ready to get hurt again. Michael Scott in the office, of course. Sign me up for game number five, 4:440 Eastern time. First pitch. I saw some uh comments about MLB figuring out their schedule. Hey, it’s it’s Friday, 4:40. um which I believe would be 1:40 Seattle time. So, a day game for the Mariners on the Pacific time zone there on in the Pacific Northwest. But, uh man, this this is crazy. And Jimmy Card Collector, I love the comment here. Epic collapse, epic comebacks. It’s all Tigers history. There you go. What a great game. That’s from my grandmother, Mary Joe Isacson. She facetimed me while she was at the game and I absolutely loved it. Great stuff all the way around. Okay, deep breaths. Here we go. Tigers, Mariners, game five for a trip to the ALCS. Terooel on the mound. And if you would have told AJ Hench, hey, you’ve got a winner take all game number five. And we’re sending out TKO. I think you’d sign up for that. So, just like we would sign up for that, we will see you on Friday afternoon eveningish for a lockdown Tigers postgame show. Can’t wait to bring you all the action. And Brilland Dennis here saying, “Put Jamai Jones in the lineup. Want to get to his comment.” Yes, Jamai Jones may in fact need to be in this lineup if the lefty goes for the Mariners because he has played a whale of a series. Um, there you go. And I’m reading all the comments. R1 VJ4 A-Rod the only one to predict Detroit to win. To hell with the rest. That’s funny. Yeah. Yeah, that’s kind of how uh that’s kind of how I feel as well. All right. Um, yep. Rick makes the comment here. Finnegan getting us out with out of the fourth with only one run was huge. Indeed, it was. So, thank you all so much for tuning in. What a roller coaster ride this postseason’s been. Wouldn’t want it any other way. Make sure you check out Scott Bentley’s Locked On Tigers daily episode. Always great insight from him. And oh yeah, by the way, we’ll have the postgame show for you on Friday. Lockdown Red Wings and Lockdown Pistons. Just check them all out because hey, we’re all in this together. Tigers get the win. How about it? 93 the final in this one. And hey, your winning pitcher, Troy Melton. Got to love that. Three scoreless innings. That was huge. Have a wonderful rest of your night. Thanks so much for tuning in. It’s always a pleasure to be on the air with you and we’ll do it again Friday. Winner take all. Trick Scooble on the mound. Love you guys. See you.

Let's go Tigers, win in Seattle
During the regular season, Javy looks like a guy who wouldn't make it in the minor leagues. But as soon as the pressure is on in big moments, he looks like a Hall of Famer. You love to see him step up when the team really needs it.
Cardiac cats! Where all those haters from yesterday?
⚾️ I was down on them a week ago 🥴 they got a pulse now it’s exciting for game 5 🤙🏽⚾️
That was the most exciting game in years!!! Lets GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I’m a Fan from AZ since 1968 first WS i watched ⚾️
In my opinion, Finnegan only allowing 1 run with the bases loaded and nobody out saved us. Mariners could’ve easily blown the game open there but didn’t.
Get next one for Skubal 👊🏽⚾️
"Never count this Tiger team out."
Except, of course, when it comes to the Central Division lead.
The person holding the sign in game 3 like 8/9th inning said it best “this Tigers team will not go quietly into the night”
Well I was hoping they would have put us out of our misery, but I guess we'll have to wait until Saturday for that..
Javy Baez – Detroit Tigers MVP of the 2025 post season.
No longer crying I see, that last show was cringe af
Ya, it felt like the tale of the "two" seasons we had. In reverse order. DEAD no hope, then boom first half hitting Tigers.
Dudes!!! Does riley wake up without clutch Jones???????
The bats were already in "contagious" mode. Baez and greene? Nah, Melton and jones (for his previous Mega Knocks)
Dont just read the instant comments while live. Most of them r cheerlead stuff, makes program dumbed down ya know.
For those that don't know, starting time is now 8PM local time.
