So, we going we gonna break down every single part of this game as we typically do. Um, we can’t just fast forward to [ __ ] crunch time. I mean, it’s the same [ __ ] It’s literally the definition. And hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. We about to We about to We about to Justin. We about to We about to look listen. Let me read something to you real quick. The Pelicans The Pelicans were tied with Memphis in assists. Pelicans had less turnovers and they won the rebounding battle by eight tonight. How did the Pelicans lose this game and what happened? Really great. Um, so literally, like literally it’s I don’t know how many more times you got to see John Mar cook your [ __ ] tea. Like literally I am scream. There’s five minutes left. It’s a tie game. It’s automatic as soon as John Morant crosses half court, you’re doubling. You’re doubling. Get the ball out of his hands and and play four on five or play, you know, three on four, whatever it may be. But to watch John Morant again cook your [ __ ] team and you sit there and just there’s just he just doesn’t ever think. He he he never thinks and he’s always a step behind. And you go back to the third quarter again. You had a 14-point lead. And Chaz is talking about this too, but like he had a 14-point lead. They go on a 190 run. You know, it’s just the same [ __ ] over and over again. I’m just so sick and tired of watching this man coach this team because they’re actually fun to watch. They got good players. Jeremiah Fear is going to be [ __ ] awesome to watch this year. I liked what I saw from Derek Queen tonight. I like I mean Trey Murphy really was bad tonight. He struggled, but he’s going to be fine. Jordan P was good. Z Williams down the stretch was good. He’s missing was good. There’s a lot of good tonight. But you can’t get over the hump with this guy coaching a team. It’s every [ __ ] game. Every crunch time situation. It’s the same thing. It’s the definition of ins insanity. It literally is expecting a different result. I’ve watched the same game. I watched him lose the same way for four years. For four years. The fact that you started to double jaw a minute and a half left in the fourth quarter. Not not with 5 minutes left is insane. And Chris, you brought up a good point. They doubled Jaw the first possession of the game. They blissed him. Yeah. Yeah. And late and late in that in that fourth quarter, the last time that they that they sent a double his way, it ended up being I think a corner three that Memphis ultimately missed, the Pelicans had an opportunity to uh to come down next possession and score. But uh five I I mean similar question here, but a little different. At what point did is there a certain point certain sequence certain possession that you would say that the Pelicans lost this game who were up double digits multiple multiple times tonight? Certain sequence double digits whatever. Yeah. Go ahead. It it was it’s usually like there’s 12 minutes at like the third quarter. That’s usually where they lose it, right? 12 minutes third quarter and something being said between the second the end of the second quarter and that moment. Whatever is being said at that moment translates to losing every time no matter what. Like we’ve seen this story over and over and over again. You can change players, you can change jerseys. Shout out to two lane. Fire. You know what I mean? You know, before I continue, man, hit the damn like button. 405 people in here. Let’s get the likes up. At least get halfbe, you know, half, you know, subscribe. But yeah, man, it’s the same thing. I don’t know what this man is telling them at half, but it is uninspire, right? Uninspired. I don’t know. I don’t know, man. That that loses the game. Chaz, um I know you had some you had some thoughts. you uh you of course had the live stream. At what point do you think the Pelicans lost this game? Is there I I I think before we started to record you there was a sequence for you that mattered in the in the third quarter when Pelicans were up about seven or eight. Um how did the Pelicans end up losing this game against a thin Memphis team? This is the game where the the box score is is a little bit dishonest to me. This is where the Pelicans lost this game. JR Jackson Jr. has four fouls in the third quarter. 10 minutes 55 sec. No, I’m I’mma go I’mma go ahead. Right. This is the sequence. 10 minutes 55 seconds. Zion steals. Zion bucket. Pelicans up 13. John Morant pull up jump shot. Pelicans up 11. Z turnaround hook. Pelicans up 13. Turnover by Jock Landell. Zion gets to the rim again. Free throw line. At this point, Jock Landell has four fouls. Jared S. Jun for I’m trying to be respectful. No. No. No. Herb Jones just goes totally [ __ ] rogue. Just really the whole team went rogue, but Herb went extremely rogue. All right. Wells misses a three. Her rebound. Cool. Misses a three. Bad shot in my opinion. Herb rebound. Her bad pass turnover. John steals Herb goes down, commits a terrible foul on Wales for no reason. No reason. Didn’t have to foul him at all. Fouls him. Herb ensuing possession, Herb drives the ball. Mind you, during all of this, Jiren Jackson Jr. has four fouls. Jock Lando has four fouls. Zion just scored what, like four, six points in a row. Herb Jones goes down, gets blocked for the 19th [ __ ] time, right? Herb is the rebound. Trey Murphy misses the layup. Jiren Jackson Jr. scores. Trey Murphy misses the layup. Now the lead is down to eight. Y’all notice who name I’m not calling during this entire stretch. Zion, the dude who the best player on the team on the floor at the moment. What the [ __ ] Like what? what what are we doing here? and and and Chaz, the best part is like Beth about so you see Zion go on that run and the Grizzlies it’s like an 86 point game the Grizzlies sub out J and then the scheduled substitution of Zion Williamson they Zion Williamson subbed out and then immediately immediately Memphis goes on like a crazy runo so I did the math here the the Grizzlies played four bigs Between the four of those bigs, they had 19 fouls. 19 fouls. Two fouled out and one was on the way. Amida had five. Lockdale fouls out. Uh Triple J fouls out. And Prosper, who shout out to him making them clut free throws at the end, um had two fouls. How do you how do you lose a game like that um in that way where at that point it’s literally just trying to find a way to get the ball out of John Mor’s hands? I mean, I think you answered the question when you said that last part of your sentence, trying to find a way to get the ball like you you just found out today you were playing John. You like there was no scheme to get the ball out of his hands. Like we you you we just realized who John kills the Pelicans every time they play. Every time they play. I tweeted this tonight. I think this is the first time I I can remember seeing Willie actively trying to trap a play. I I I don’t ever recall seeing him ever being like, “We got to get the ball out of this guy’s hands.” And the and the dude, you know, so Chris, I t bro, I missed six minutes of the game in the third quarter. I came back, I text Chris, I said, “What the [ __ ] happened?” I like I’m like what what what’s going on here? Like I I I just Chris to answer your question though is Willie. Willy’s a Willy’s a very bad coach and we got to talk about Zion at some point. Okay. So I mean let before we talk about Zion, I do want to I do want to talk about Trey. Um we talked in the Sunday show leading up to him about him um this this this moment being for him. not necessarily this game, but um just the way that this that this team is set up, right? Zion had a slow start, but ended up picking it up in the third quarter and had some moments in the fourth. 279 and five in 33 minutes, 10 for 21. I mean, for the most part, he did what he was supposed to do. Had five steals. Not talked about enough, but Zion did as much as you can ask. was gassed. You know, we we will talk about that at some point. But Trey, five for 15 tonight, 13 points, seven rebounds, one for six for three, did not create a turnover. Uh had four fouls himself and seemed to be frustrated at every foul call he did not get. What the [ __ ] Okay. Um, Chaz, you said that you felt like this was this was Trey’s worst worst game that I I don’t want to misquote you and say it was the worst game as a Pelican, but let’s just say the worst game you’ve seen him play in a, you know, in a while. What What went wrong for Trey tonight? I think Trey just didn’t have plan B tonight a lot of the times. I thought some of the shots were a little bit erratic, but him his inability to finish at the rim was it was kind of bizarre honestly cuz it was like the refs had an interesting whistle. It was because it was a physical game in the first half in the fourth quarter. It kind of tightened up a little bit as a whistle but it was like not really finishing through contact and kind of saw Sadique Bay had a weird issue with that early in the game. It’s like is this a new basketball or something? It’s like they can’t catch the ball. Can’t catch the ball. They look erratic going to the rim. The balls is like kind of fly. It just looked bizarre. I thought Trey took some some Oh, what up, Derek? I thought Trey took some some questionable shots. I think and I think he was a part of that run in the third quarter to where um Sorry. Go ahead. On a flight to Turkey. Shout out to Chef Dan. Hold on, man. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on, man. Sorry. Well, hop was two for two, right? But, um, I I think I think for Trey tonight especially, like I said before, bro, you could be bad, but what you can’t be is god [ __ ] awful. He was god [ __ ] awful. And I say this and I wore my my Trey Murphy shirt. So, but he was god [ __ ] awful. I can’t wear that shirt again. Uh, I can’t wear the shirt again. It’s the shirt. Yeah, it’s it’s the shirt. Hold on. Yeah. Hold on, Justin. five. You you had a tweet about Trey pressing and we were going to talk about it. Well, tell me what you mean by that. Why was he pressing? Where did it show in his game? He just didn’t want to make the easy play. Everything felt difficult or he wanted to it to be like some kind of highlight. Like you have a step on J but yet you take a step back to Hezi for what? Just go just like what are you making it difficult for? I don’t care about your [ __ ] bag. I don’t get the bucket. You making [ __ ] hard. You You the one said you were going to be an allstar. You know what all stars do? Make the simple play. You doing too much, bro. I rock with you. I [ __ ] with you. But I’mma be a real one and tell you you doing too much. Make it simple on yourself in due time, bro. You’ll be able to show the work you put in. You don’t need game one to do that. Like Jordan Pool having a game. Feed him. You looked him off multiple times for what? He got it booming. You don’t know what that pass might do might do for you. We’ve all been in them situations where we got somebody else to rock that’s on the heater and sure as [ __ ] we we in it too. Now it’s Now I got the rhythm because I gave you like the the basketball guys will reward you and you wanted to do it on your own. You didn’t have to big dog. You didn’t have to. So yeah, man. Calm down. You got My bad. Five. If I can just add to F’s point. There was a lot of selfishness to like tonight. There there was a high and the crazy thing is the person you need to be selfish, he’s just not selfish enough. So Chaz, you make a great point cuz I wanted like bro like um Jordan Pool was cooking tonight and like how you don’t feel like a good team feeds a hot hand. I mean he had it going the first quarter and like I don’t rem to be honest I got to look back at it. I don’t know if he took a shot in the fourth quarter and that’s the issue. That’s that’s where the coach comes in like yo I think he had he did on a back door. There’s a beautiful, beautiful back door, beautiful play, beautiful set. Boom. Back door. But it’s like if if if the players are not recognizing to feed the hot hand, then it’s the coach’s it’s the coach’s responsibility, and this is the problem with Willie Green to make sure that Jordan Pool is getting touches, make sure that he’s in rhythm. And I also felt like Jordan Pool was out way too long tonight. There was also a moment like I cannot believe this was a [ __ ] lineup, but Zion Williamson, Jeremiah Fear, Hunter Dickinson, Sadique Bay, and Jordan Hawkins, you know, like like what you you can’t tell me y’all sat in a conference room was like, “Hey, this lineup here, we’re we’re going to surprise him for the second quarter.” I’ll tell you what, Hunter Dickerson, they they I I tell you what they’re not expecting. Um, look, guys, I know in the chat, man, yo, it’s 586 people here, man. Please, if it’s your first time or your last time here, please hit the like button right now. Hey, a fan Chris, I’m sorry. A fan of the show just said that uh Jared said, “You making [ __ ] hard.” Uh, and none of y’all caught that. Was crazy. Okay. Well, I mean, you making [ __ ] hard [ __ ] though. I don’t accountability in front of the show. Hey, three likes. Okay. Um, Chad, Chaz and Justin, you guys, you guys made comments about Zion not being not being selfish enough. I think I’ll say Leo, I think in early in the third quarter, he was a little selfish after he kind of adjusted. He had a um you know he you know we don’t we don’t get a because of the games play we don’t get a chance to talk enough about his instant like his possession possession processing his ability to like make self adjustments where in the first half shout out to Amed appreciate you dog um in the first half he seemed kind of be you know observing trying to see what he could and what he couldn’t do and in the third quarter he adjusted late in that fourth Leo I can’t really I can’t be mad at him because this is what you get paid to do and this is and this is your team now. He was gassed. I mean, he played he played 33 minutes. He was clearly clearly tired. Um I think they were down Pelicans were down two after his previous layup. He tries to go coast to coast. Ultimately ends up missing it. But unbalanced floor maybe as an opportunity to swing, but ultimately you’ll live and die with Zion trying to make the play. Didn’t ultimately it didn’t work. you know, couple couple turnovers off of off his foot throughout the game. Those things will take care of himself throughout the year as long as he stays healthy. What are your overall thoughts about that? He seemed rusty. Talk about it. I I This is probably really nitpicky and again this his game once, so take this with what you will. I I didn’t like his game tonight. I I didn’t like I I Okay, let me give you what I liked first in the I looked up in the second quarter. He had six rebounds. Quarter was almost over and I was like, damn. You know, like the one thing he talked about a lot in the offseason was rebounding. I thought it was important to do and he was setting the tone. I think he ended with nine. He ended with nine. Herb had nine and Trey had seven. I I want I want to talk about her rebounding too, but Zion to me uh was Zion’s rebounding was important, but the thing to me the first half he was way too passive. He was way way way too passive. There’s there was about four or five different times where he got the he got the ball, kicked it back out, reset, kicked it back out. And I’m like, bro, it’s it’s Alama on you or it’s Londale, it’s whoever. like you got like why are you throwing it to Sadique Bay with Jaylen Wells on him? Like it it it didn’t really make sense. I felt like I felt like uh Chaz talked about the files, right? How uh you know Lunddale had five or JJ had five. Like to me if if if you if you backtrack the game some those times where Zion was being passive instead of attacking where he should have attacked, that’s the six file. That’s that’s the six foul. That’s penalty. That you know what I’m saying? That’s free throws because you got to think about you got to think about the long game like a boxer, right? You you you throw body shots early in the round early in the fight and then you know the he broken down at the end of the fight. So it’s like I I really hate that we got to readjust. He has to readjust like the man who I’m not gonna say his name, but he ain’t here. Three ain’t here no more. Like it this is your [ __ ] It should it shouldn’t be a game where I he ended up taking 21 field goal attempts, but it was at a certain point he was stuck at 13 for the longest. Yeah. So, um let let’s talk let’s talk some of the good, Justin. Some of the good. And I mean, we got to start we got to start we got to start with the rookies, man. We got Yes, sir. We we like Jeremiah Fears. I don’t think any of us could have even if you thought he was gonna have a good game. I mean, the brother looked J in his first NBA game, 19 years old, looked Jared in the eye multiple times. Now, J had a had a slick line to him at the end of the game and told him like, you know, told told Zion, “Yo, he wearing my shoes.” That’s mean, by the way. That’s really mean. That’s one of the meanest things you could say to somebody, dog. You just you just beat the rook and you telling you you won’t even tell him. You you talking to your man that you got my shoes on. That’s mean, man. All right. But um great game Justin. I mean 17 17 points and I mean almost by himself it felt like when the Pelicans had that stretch where they couldn’t buy a buck in the end of the third quarter that down 10 points, 12 points, eight points. We’ll talk about Queen at some point as well, but for right now Fierce almost by himself tried to will the Pelicans back. Um was incredible. Without Jeremiah Fears uh with that late run there in the third quarter, I think they could run out the gym. I’m serious. without Jeremiah Fears and Derek Queen like piecing together, Jeremiah Fears kept that game at bay and like kept it from getting out of hand. And what Kelvin said, I am, and we’ve talked about this in Nauseium, I am shocked with how under control he is for a 19-year-old kid. Like he is 19 years old, first game, and this dude was like, “Yeah, I belong here.” He he bel he has some type like he has like that swagger to him. Like he’s not scared. He loves a good chat. Like he’s going at it with Jaw tonight. I think whatever the ball gets flipped in the back court somehow someway with like 5 seconds left on the shot clock. J tries to chase him down and Jeremiah just like just beats him to the rim with a lefty with a lefty leg going going towards the baseline. Like this dude is special, bro. Like he is like I said tonight when it’s all said and done, I’m not going to say he’s going to win rookie of the year, but he’s got I feel like he’s gonna be in the running because like that kid belongs. Chaz, he kept I mean, you’ve been you’ve been talking about about Jose as of as of late. We didn’t see Jose Alvarado play tonight and and I honestly there was no reason to with the way Jeremiah played. Um what do what are your thoughts about his performance? Hell, I mean after me goes out, Pelicans go small, who they throw back into the game? Jeremiah Fears. That’s that’s telling, right? Yeah. And truthfully, I I agree with Justin as far as like with them uh with Jeremiah Fizz not putting on the performance he put tonight. I think they get run out of the gym. You can make an argument that he was the best Pelican tonight or at least second best design. Like you can make a real argument. I thought he was excellent tonight. Um didn’t look overmatched, played with poise, played under control, only had one bad turnover that he was trying to get the ball to Zion or like one of the Lonzo dumps. I hate that pass, but it worked earlier for Hunter Dickerson. It just didn’t work that time. But um yeah, I I thought I thought he played extremely well. As far as Jose, I I kind of think the writing on the wall. I I think I think Jose’s menace is kind of dependent upon how of course how Fierce looks, but more so how Hawkins looks. And um yeah, it just really there’s no need to play him like no need for him. No disrespect, but it’s his no Leo. I um I mean we we you me and F broke down Jeremiah Fears over the over the summer. We watched summer league. We watched uh we watched him in preeason. He has a I mean we saw like the like the confidence and like the and like the bully, but there’s a possession and I I think it’s it’s the beginning of the fourth. They the Pelicans like I think J tips the ball. It goes like close to half court or beyond like for you to pick up the ball. No, it’s five. You have five seconds left and get to your spot. He got this odd like to like to be 19 and have that level of like confidence but like poise like control it’s kind of rare dog like like we he looked like he looked like him he looked like man like like what when we when we I mean I don’t want to I don’t want to over I don’t want to overreact over over one game dog with the mind dog like that’s like he a little different bro he he he just like up here he a little He looking like the kid out of badly though. He looking like the kid out of out of Wake Forest. That’s what he’s looking like. Like the poise. The poise. Just just personally. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like look look at Reed Shepard in Houston last night, right? He didn’t want the rock. They had a man point guard. Like he did not want the basketball in his hands. Jeremiah Fierce wants the basketball in his hands. No matter who gardening, it don’t matter. Nah, bro. I want the rock. Uh D Nola 60 man just became a member. Shout out to you bro. But like you you can’t it’s too late in the game to teach somebody how to be a point guard. Either you got it or you don’t. And you can tell this kid got it. And it don’t matter who guarding him. He trying to beat pressure. If you if you do something silly like that where you trying to guard me, you know, 70 feet from the basket, I’m just blow by you. I was dying for Kyrie Lewis to do this. You know what I mean? Like I used to talk about that like, yo, just you’re the fastest cat in the gym. Just one move and go. But this dude mentally like nothing is shaking him. And there’s going to be a point in time in the season where he’s going to fall on his face. I hope he gets to that point soon rather than later. So that way he I I know by the the way he’s rocking. Oh, damn. Shout out to Sam. Appreciate Santa Sam, you know what I mean? being gifted, but I know he’s going to overcome that really quickly and u he’s going to be better for it. Leo, uh I want to hear your thoughts on fears though, but you know, we we also, you know, I want to lead into the Derek Queen conversation, too, man. like, you know, we we you know, I was we were we were texting about like u how some of the the breakdowns that we watch that they you know, they come to life in some of these little situations that, you know, you see like just certain sequences and possessions and the first time he gets the ball, Derek Queen, he gets it on the uh I believe like the the left baseline, they immediately blitz him. First possession like of of his NBA basketball. Like if he didn’t play preseason, any of that, he’s getting double team. He’s getting Blissina a double. What does he do? I believe a left hand opposite corner pass on the money. Like we used to see we saw we would see Brandon do that quite often, right? Derek Queen first play ain’t barely practiced just got cleared. I mean, you know, we we outside I think he scored one one point. I think he had he had hit a free throw in the first half, but the amount of attention that he required immediately like is telling for some for a rookie and somebody who hasn’t played at all since July. That’s the best uh pass the city seen all season. That was that was that was like no no disrespect Spence, but that was a dime, bro. That was that was a dime. like where he where he caught well he caught first of all like you said the blisser rookie it just made me so mad saying that out loud because then I’m like John Moran like a multiple time allar oh my god can’t bliss John though but they like 22 we cannot allow him to see this basketball imagine imagine oh that oh that that that makes me kind of mad bro I think that piss me off that pisses pisses you off and now piss you off. No, it ain’t just pissed me off, but it’s like I said it out loud. Like they they blissed a rookie, a 22 year old rookie who hasn’t played a bit of preseason basketball and they not too proud to double him. But but we got a dude who beats your team every time they play and it’s him making a last second shot every rip. You know what I’m saying? But anyways, bro, Queen obviously is rusty. Hasn’t played in a long time. He was pacing. He was pacing a lot, trying to figure out how to get into the Florida game uh for a little bit, but then he settled down. He got really good feet. He got he got really really good feet, bro. And it’s like he he not one of them type of athletes where he not going to impress you in a shuttle drill, but the fact that his his skill is so high, bro. Uh see what I’m saying? His skill is so high that Chris, we was talking about that pass and then we talked about the the breakdown and then you text me the pass from when he was in college like same type of pass. Bro, I’m going to tell you this. It was a couple rebounds tonight. He had five of them, but it was a couple of them where it looked like he wanted to look on and just take that [ __ ] down the court. One time, one time he did. Yeah. One time he did. One time. One time he did. But no, I’m with you though. He And he was like, “Let me follow the money. Follow the money, man. Here, man. Here you go. [ __ ] it. Here. Here, bro. [ __ ] Get out of the way. But fears, fears, fear part, I hope y’all kids sleep. Fears don’t give a [ __ ] Fear Fierce don’t give a [ __ ] He don’t understand. He don’t understand pay scale regime pecking order. He don’t give a [ __ ] about none of that [ __ ] [ __ ] I’m here. This is This is me. This is all me, bro. I dog. You know how long we’ve been waiting? We want a a guard that could just dribble. Like that was the bare minimum. What you mean? What you mean, Leo? What you mean, bro? Five five talked about this earlier, brother. We had a guard in Ky Lewis who got ripped one time and was scared to dribble again. Dyson still ain’t dribbling. Yeah. Like is we we just we bro like I mean it’s a long list of it’s a long list of guards, bro. But just to be competent at dribbling this this this dude got that plus more plus the the mentality like he was looking at Zion and like oh you ain’t gonna shoot it. All right. Come here. Yeah. I’mma take care of that. Sky’s the limit. Justin, I got a couple stats for you here. Kid from Grub, man. Shout out to Grub. We got um Pelicans had just 20 assists tonight under Willie Green. and the Pells are 8 and 32 when they have 20 or fewer assists. Uh also have here the Pelicans allow Memphis to shoot 51% from the floor. They are now 24 and 92 says 21 and 22 regular in the regular season when opponents make at least half their shots. Um man I you know some of this points at Willie Green, some of it doesn’t. You started the show talking about talking about Willie Green. Uh there was a comment in here about Micah Peavey. Uh of course we didn’t see Jose tonight. Now Eves who uh I think played a really solid game, you know, I mean not showing on the box score, but he hurt his ankle. Not going to see him for a little bit more than likely. Carlos on the men like what it we saw five minutes of Hunter Dickerson. Derek Queen just got back with what Willie does have going for as soon as Friday against San Antonio. What adjustments would you like to see him make? Is there anything in the rotation? Um, as a coach, what what adjustments would you would you be looking to make in like immediately? Yeah, it’s a fair question. Um, I think if you’re Carlo’s got to play like like if Carlo’s healthy, he’s got to start. Uh, if not, you’re have to go with Queen. Hunter Dickinson like I mean like I guess you can match him up against WBY, but like you like that that’s just that’s not going to work. You see, like, so like you can’t like you can’t play them. So like your your It’s unfortunate, but your your backup centers, right, or your two centers are hurt. You got to play as fast as possible. Like that’s that’s what you have to do. You have to make it a track meet. And I thought you saw spurts tonight. I thought you saw some lineups. And look, I really like he is who he is. is like I don’t think he’s a very good coach and like his adjustments are obviously awful. But like other than that besides the second that second quarter substitution I didn’t mind, you know, most of the lineups tonight. Like I thought they had a little lineup there with Queen and Queen and Zion. And look, Queen battled, man. Like he he’s not this sevenfooter, but like as long as you got guys that are battling and Jared talks about all the time gang rebounding, that’s when you’re that’s when you’re best. And so if you can really lean into those lineups on Friday and just try to gang rebound against Sant, get out and run, like you’re gonna be in most games. Most I’ll say this, you have a defensive-minded head coach, but you’re only going to win games by outscoring opponents like in the 125s, 130s. You’re not going to have these 101 90 games anymore. Like the the Pelgans defensively are just not very good. They don’t have much rim protection. And I just think you have to lean really into your offense and like make sure that you’re out in transition as much as possible. That’s like that’s the adjustment I would and they were playing fast and then they went to the Hun Dickinson lineup and that was just a nightmare. Chaz, what adjustments do you think uh from watching this game and you think that they need to make is game two and do you think even if it would have been marginal rewards um do you think Micah Pee could have made a difference tonight at all? No, because to me, if I want to give any grace, period, it would be that some of your players, your better players don’t necessarily play like this. So, at some point, things tend to balance out and you missed a lot of free throws. Missed a lot of free throws. But the thing I was saying during like my live at halftime was Memphis was still leading in defensive rebounding. And to me that just shows you like you should have went and got a center this off season because there was a play, right? There was a play. There was a series of plays and um I [ __ ] it. Let me just rip the band-aid off. Look at these two plays because to me this is the game in the fourth quarter. Just the eighth time Miranda and Williamson have played in the same game. It’s four apiece. Herb Jones. Oh, what a blocked coward. Mor attacking and Williamson have played in the same game. Chaz Murphy is wide open in the corner. Wide open. Make the play. Move the ball. That’s what they did all the preseason. Chaz. See, I just don’t understand that. That’s why to me when I say the box for it kind of lies because I just don’t want her with that amount of freedom in my offense. I would just much rather if I had to do this because you’re not stopping nobody anyway. And that’s the that that was kind of my argument. Nobody really stopping J but you’re not stopping nobody anyway. So what’s the point? Like what what’s the point? I would much rather my better players take You got blocked at least five times. I would much rather my better players or the players that I’m kind of like I need to get this guy going. Take this shot. I I I just would rather that. And there was another play. Oh my god. This had to be like appreciate you, brother. Well, thank you, Dino. Man, I I gotta find this highlight. This was so [ __ ] terrible. Is this the second play? Is this the second? No, I I gotta find it. I thought that was it. I’mma find it, though, bro. Herb is back. J coming straight at Herb. Herb steps out of the way like J’s about to pass the ball to the right corner and gives her gives J a free lane at the rim. Easy layup. I’m like Herb, go sit down. Just go sit down after that. What? What? You could what? What the [ __ ] You gave him a clear I’m talking about clear clear in the next next attempt you filed out anyway. You could have just filed him there way. Not that you was going to stop him. I just don’t understand the line of thinking there. Like what was that about? So it was just though that’s why look the Pelicans had the talent advantage on the floor tonight. They just underd delivered. But honestly, this is when you don’t have quality coaching. You got to your guys got to show up consistently. And even though like that’s not really her role necessarily, the Trey Murphy’s, you got to show up. Like design, you got to go get 35. Um, uh, Sadique Bay didn’t play well until the second half, well, like the fourth quarter. Trey Murphy never got around to playing well. Herb started all hot but then it kind of faded early. I mean, you know, faded in the second. It was just the [ __ ] even. I I just don’t get it. Herb played his role perfectly in the first half. I let I know Jared and Leo, I know you don’t play, but I thought Herb did a great job in the first half, then just went nuclear in the second half. He went Birmingham. He went Birmingham and it was like, no, go. All right. So, I do understand a line of thinking when J’s going downhill because you’re going twoon-one. Trey Murphy is actually the help side defender. I think Herb was thinking he’s coming here. That way he can go to the the short corner three because you really want to protect that because that’s the easier three to take. You rather give up a layup in that situation anyway. Um, also I think it’s all about mentality when you talk about Herb now. He’s the initiator. I mean, we’ve been thinking about this for like three to four seasons at this point. Um, but the mentality hasn’t really been taught to him. So, the idea about him driving isn’t just a drive to score. It really is to get some kind of two-on-one or get somebody out of position. Right. With Trey Murphy, right, open in a in a corner, you’ve done you’ve done your job. You just have to make the right play to do so. But Herb’s mentality has been slashing, right? So, you’re trying to change that like on the fly. So, again, Joe Misilla talks about this all the time, getting two ones. Like, that’s what you’re trying to create at a at a possible rate at all times, creating two-on-ones. Who can you get out of position? Who can you get eyes locked on you that isn’t necessarily guarding you right now to pitch to their man so that creates a better shot. Again, going from good to great. Herb going on going to the rim against three defenders. Trey Murphy wide open. That’s your good to great. You just got to make the right play. Go ahead. Y I I feel like so I want to answer a question about the rookies, right? You you was talking about pee. In my in my opinion, the first run where they were it was a 150 run. In my opinion, 18. So, so the the first the first minute of that the first minute of that run, Hunter gave up a layup and then he had a turnover the first minute of that run. Oh. So, in my opinion, if I’m the coaching staff, I’m looking at who I’m looking at how tall Grizz lineup is, right? And I’m I’m thinking we gonna get rebounded outrebounded anyway. Like, I I don’t feel like if we look at the categories of the game, that’s probably not a battle we going to win. even though they did end up winning it. But I’m just saying like that was the outlook I would have. I would have played Peavey because Styles make fights. Peavey is a good rebounder. He’s a good shooter. It’s it’s it’s this is where in my opinion the the Pels is their downfall because it’s all about coaching and creation. And if if the lack of Wow. Uh the lack the lack of the lack of coaching, the lack of creation and coaching from the head coach creates these pockets of ineptitude that makes it really look like comical. The way they lose is comical. It’s like you put some funny music behind it and you think [ __ ] will be falling down. I it it it’s like that type of feel. It it it’s Chris one one thing before we move on. If you look at, we talked about the preseason game, the last preseason game, we talked about Willie and the 40 threes that he wants, right? You know, I mean, they 27 27. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, but I mean, but even like, you know, you watch you watch other teams play sometimes, you just turn into a you turn into a hater. Happy birthday. Uh, I we only got one LA, but I a bag nail, Mr. Bagnell. Happy happy birthday. Um damn, where was I going with that? Oh, I mean the the the Ps went zone in the fourth quarter and every single play Jiren Jackson Jr. went to the paint and the Grizzlies threw the ball to him every single play until he missed. Y’all go we y’all getting in his zone. Jiren gonna get right right in the right at the free throw line and he gonna shoot these. He gonna shoot these runners. He gonna shoot these little these little pull-ups until you adjust. And you know, Justin, you want to see the Pelicans when they when when blood is near, there was a couple points in this game, specifically in that third quarter where they had a chance to really really really like just take out all the air out the building. And it Yeah, it was the [ __ ] moment me and Jazz been talking about. It was like this back and forth where like it was it was kind of sloppy but you can see the Grizzlies were creating some momentum and you’re still up like eight or 10 points and the Grizzlies sub out. It’s like 650 720 left in the third quarter. It’s been kind of sloppy but like you’ve maintained the leads eight or 10 points around that area and then you take Zion out and it’s like dude for once in your [ __ ] life can you go against the grain? Can you just not do a schedule substitution and and save me with all this oh you know it’s game one you’re overreacting. No, it’s year seven. Okay, it’s year seven. I want to see him [ __ ] play. I want to see this man literally win a basketball game and take this team to the playoffs. Okay, I’m sick and tired of this whole scheduled rotation, all this other [ __ ] Let the man play. If he’s got to play 36, 37, 38 minutes tonight, then let him [ __ ] play 38 minutes. But [ __ ] man. Every single time we do this, we’re like, we got to sub out Zion at 7 minute mark and blah blah blah. Dude, the game was right there. You’re up eight or 10 right there. You lost it. We’re We’re almost at at the 45 minute mark. Appreciate everybody’s there, man. 500 plus people. I don’t know where the likes are at right now. Last time we checked about maybe 20 minutes ago, it’s about 200, man. Somebody give us a like count real quick. Um I’m going to I mean at the KCP wide open three that shouldn’t have been. Yeah. I mean, he was really the only the only person that you should have been fearing from three. Oh god. Come on. What y’all doing? What y’all doing? What y’all doing, man? What What we doing right now? what they know like they know I’mma I’mma I’mma open up the floor here um guys and I’m just gonna you know ask whoever whoever wants to uh take the question or take you know give their opinion on Jordan P’s night 17 points two assists got off to a really good start really good start I think he scored the first seven points or first eight points something like that shooting 30 foot threes like it was nothing I mean you you know he had the he had the rhythm he was the offense in the beginning Um, and then the best defender in the league got him. Yeah. I I I mean I don’t you know preseason was kind of same thing. You know, you look felt like he’s on the bench for like a whole quarter and okay there goes Joe Pool again and then he and he’s out for a long time like oh there goes Jordan Pool again for a team. It’s not like they’re I mean they don’t have this luxurious you know selection of guards to go through off the bench. Jordan Pool finished with 31 minutes tonight. What are you guys thoughts? I think the best defender in the league got him. The the the best the best defender in the league got it. He got he got he he got enough. Who’s the best defender? Oh man, Bill Green. Bill Green defend you better than you name a defender. Lou Dort, uh Herb, Jose, whoever you got, uh Wimby, he ain’t got nothing on Bill Green. Once he set his sights on an offensive player, it’s over. Hey bro, Bill Green ain’t never seen the kind of creat it’s a it’s locked up. Oh, you can shoot. Oh, he holl at you. Let me let me let me talk to you. Say, bro, listen. Bill Green ain’t never seen the the type of creativity Jordan Pool was doing out there tonight. He thought Joe Pool was doing witchcraft. He was like, “We we got to get this brother out of here. What is he doing? this ball going what’s happening man like bro it’s so this man this man had an excellent start he was three for three I think he ended up three for four I think in the first quarter and then it was just crickets it was crickets bro wow in the first half guys hey dog when Cass was looking looking Jordan pull off dog I was like yeah it’s it’s curtains like what are we doing like are we trying to win or we trying to win my way or we trying to win a certain way. I just don’t get it. Chaz. Chaz, everything all right? You know, I don’t want I I just don’t want to I just don’t want to take the show in this direction. So, I’m just not say I’m I’mma just say Wait, what street we on? Come on. We going Let’s go. Damn. Everybody just need to know their role, bro. Everybody just need to know their role. And you got to be comfortable and confident in your role and excel in your role. The minute you you get out of get out of, you know, your your wheelhouse with the like to dog, I couldn’t agree more tonight. And it might seem like I’m picking on this person, but dog tonight. Herb looked like Jordan Hawkins in certain instances. And what I mean by that was you can’t just turn the ball over. You can’t just get your shot blocked. It got to automatically turn into points. It immediately turns into a scoring opportunity. And it’s just like why the ball just can’t go out of bounds? Why? Why the [ __ ] the ball gota it just it’s just too much dog like and you know I I get it you know I get it like because personally I would like to see more of that with her on a staggered second unit at at times I would on the second unit I’m with you let’s do it but brother brother brother some of this [ __ ] just looked insane to me though and it’s to the point where I’m just like look Man, I don’t care what relationships nobody got on the team. Care relationship. Hurry her played the most minutes of the starting unit and he fouled out. How is that? Has that ever happened before? He had 36 minutes and he fouled out. Not that he was necessarily a negative because I don’t think he was. I just think he was just doing a little bit too much and and Trey didn’t do it. He to me he might as well had not played. Honestly, he might like you might he might as well had not played. Chaz, what do you five talked about it earlier, what do you what do you attribute to to the way, you know, I know F mentioned Jordan Pool getting looked off, you know, you know, we just, you know, we watch Trey Trey miss, you know, uh I’m sorry, her her miss Trey in the corner, some of the possessions that Trey had. What do you what do what do you attribute? Right. We’ve got all these conversations about how about how much they’re together. we, you know, saw the the uh it being a an essential po part of what they wanted to do. It appeared moving the basketball, having as having as playing a certain pace. What do you attribute to, you know, just just feeling like guys trying to do too much on their own tonight? Multiple players in terms, you know, [ __ ] it. Because I I might sometimes crash out. [ __ ] it. I I attribute some of it to the illusion. There was an interview, a post-practice interview I saw the other day with Trey. Someone sent me this, right? Not with Trey, with her, right? And I think it was Ali asked him, “Hey, you know, what what do you make of, you know, guys working after practice now kind of building chemistry and Herb to me had the most this tonedeaf response.” So he was like, “Oh, you must not have been here.” No, I y’all look like [ __ ] And if you had been working together, it wasn’t working. Obviously, it didn’t work. Obviously, something’s arrived. Like, it look it looks like [ __ ] Okay. It looked like [ __ ] [ __ ] Like, you know, all the like it just look man at the end of the day, people again, people got to lock in with their roles. I loved loved loved Herb’s defensive rebounding tonight. Nobody gonna stop John Morant. Thought he did the best he can. But what I’m saying is again, when you fit into your role and you excel at what you’re doing, it allows everyone else to do what they’re meant to do, right? Not saying Trey would have ever found his rhythm because who knows? I again, I thought it was god awful, but maybe Jordan P takes a couple more shots. Maybe he gets downhill, gets to the rebound, get gets to um the free throw line. Maybe um maybe uh Queen gets a look in the post while Jiren Jackson Jr. has five fouls. Maybe Zion with Jared Jackson Jr. having four fouls and Jock Landell having four fouls gets the [ __ ] ball going downhill. Zion and Jamar squaring off in the fourth quarter. Zion scores, Josh scores. Zion scores, Josh scores. And here come her block. Then ball go. It’s like, come on, man. Get out the way. Nobody getting a Jawe like that [ __ ] Whose whose responsibility is it is it to to define a player’s role? Whose whose responsibility is that? I would say it’s the coach. But here’s the thing. I once you get paid sometimes you feel a little empowered. And you know to me it’s like I don’t mind again I I think Herb should have been gotten the freedom to do some of this but I just think I don’t want you doing this with the wands. I want you doing this with the backups. Yeah. And like well to my point like you’re and you’re completely right Chaz, but like I was just trying to get at like if you see a player that is out of control. Yeah. Once again, one of your main responsibilities as a coach is to hone that player in and or take them out, time out, whatever. And literally, literally, you never see this with Willie Green. And like wouldn’t go for it. It’s like it’s like I feel bad for like picking on him, but like there’s just so many instances where it’s just like I watch the same product and nothing has gotten better. You lose we really lose the same way every single time. Man, me and me and Chaz did a did a recap after the Orlando game and we talked about how the Pelicans made a run in that in that preseason game late third quarter. It’s the final preseason game for both Orlando and New Orleans. At that point, it’s over with. Everyone’s putting in putting in, you know, G-League guys, bench guys, defense guys, got turkey guys, you know what, you know, wherever they going, they’re playing. Jamal Mosley was so mad at the way his team performed. He put his starters back in the game in the fourth quarter against Hunter Dickerson in the game. Like like like like that’s that’s what that’s that’s coaching to me. Like coaching is is is immediate accountability. It’s a It’s conversations. It’s relationships. It’s It’s Hey, you can’t you can’t do that, bro. It’s not Jose’s job to go run on the floor, have a conversation with Derek Queen, even if he wants to. I’m looking like like like bro, it’s you having this conversation with me. What are you doing? Not like we can’t have that right now. This ain’t Maryland, brother. You know what that’s called, dude? You keep that [ __ ] back in Baltimore. Please talk about No, you know what that’s called? That’s called You [ __ ] It Up. Fix it. That’s what that’s called, dog. Look, to Chad’s point about Herb. Look, man. I tweeted this tonight, man. I text y’all, too, man. He was shooting the ball too much. Like, the thing the thing with her like and and I think he was like three for five from three or something like that. And that’s great. That’s great. But the thing is, I agree with that, Monk. I I do agree with that. I [ __ ] if argue [ __ ] I mean, He ain’t playing [ __ ] He might as well. I mean, he’d be He’d be better. He’d be better than the guy who who they got there. What yall think he’ll do? Hey, man. Look, brother was in a warmup the whole night. I ain’t seen that since since his rookie year. And he was co coaching his ass off tonight, too. I Hey, man. Look, the thing with Herby is like his his threes is supposed to be like the cherry on top of a win. It’s not supposed to be the catalyst for the win. Like I’m not supposed to win games on the back of Herb Jones because the thing is honestly when it all matters like nobody’s gonna leave Zion to guard Herb Jones or Trey Murphy or or Jordan Pool, right? Because the thing is is like obviously these are the guys. He’s a complimentary player. Like it it was way too it was way too reckless. It was too much. Who’s supposed to take control of that? Justin, I agree when you said the head coach, but that’s not going to happen. So, you know who’s supposed to take control of it? One. One. Yeah. I look to Leo’s point, bro. I’m looking at these numbers for the the game still going on. Wimby is has the leading shot attempts on the Spurs with 20. The next closest player on that team has 14 shot attempts. Right. On the uh Mavericks, Anthony Davis leading with 21. Cooper flag and and Clay tied for 13. Yeah. if Kyrie was playing or if Fox was playing, maybe they would have about 18 shots a piece at this point. May maybe more. Who knows? But the point I’m making is it should never be a situation where your least offensively skilled players playing the most minutes. That’s and that’s an indictment on the players conditioning. Again, Jordan P didn’t play a lot of minutes in Washington, so he got to get he got to get used to it as well. But there’s that and it’s just like man what is we doing here? Do we not recognize like this the clash of the titans right here bro? Like John is dying going at it though. Why you why why you in this why why why you in this right now? Like why you in this conversation? It were just a couple times that happened to me where I was just like nah. It’s just too much every It’s just too much freedom like HB dive. HB dive you know you know took the most shots on the gr who he’s probably about 20. He had 20. I think Triple J had 14. But but you see the you see the progression in the in the in the like I don’t know man. Hey dog it’s it’s wild to see but that’s why I don’t like this this free flowing offense [ __ ] right like it feels like pickup cuz when you play pickup yo you can do whatever. Whoever get the rock you get to make the decision. So I get to pull if I want to. I could dribble dribble dribble dribble try to go to the rim if I get try to get fouled. some [ __ ] like that. But it’s never it’s never advantageous for the team. You know, there is no backside movement unless a set is drawn up. Like you don’t have like we used to just have a natural plane. Like we had rules. I dribble at you, cut. If I fake a pass at you, cut. If I get a ball to the If I pass, then I like there’s there’s a ton of movement going on. You see this with um Golden State a lot. If you watch OKC, you can go to any level. Yeah. Go watch any level. Boston like like I’m just I’m just name NBA teams, but everybody moves. Like to say this team is like they don’t run anything, but yet they they’re stationary. You’re easy to guard. Yeah. Predictable. And that makes it hard. That makes it so difficult, Justin, when when you have a player like Zion who is so I mean where everything is in the middle of the everything’s in the middle of the paint. All of it. Everything’s an angle. Middle of the paint, left hand finish nine times out of 10. You know, it’s, you know, you know, the last thing you need to be is predictable with someone whose game is at the at the position that Zion Williams’ game is, especially in the half court. You You know what I hate? I just It just hit me. You know what I hated about Zion’s game tonight? I was talking like what Lita said. He took that that jumper early on. missed it. And like you can’t have this mindset. Zion’s got to get over this this mental, you know, block that he has. Like if he misses a shot, like bro, like nobody’s yelling at you. Like shoot that thing at nauseium because then what’s going to happen is if you go three for four, three for five, four for six, that guy’s going to come out now and contest. And guess what? Pump fake, one dribble, you’re there. But now you’re not. Now you’re not playing. Like just shoot. Believe Justin. No, I need him to believe. Like everyone believes in him. He’s got to believe in himself. You know what is and I’mma I’m gonna stall I think I’ve been I’ve been real hard on bro this show. I’mma stall her about with this Jiren Jackson Jr. Jiren Jackson Jr. is that’s why to me bro it’s a different level to defense. Think her is an excellent defender but it’s just a different level. This dude was a [ __ ] beast out there. All world defender to me. So, and to me he always like to me he be have his eyes spooked to be honest. Yeah, that’s just me. He be have his arms spooked. But, you know, I guess it ain’t too much you could do. You know, you’re going up against him and unless you about to just go into his chest because clearly he’s going for the blocks every time. But I just think from a strategic standpoint it was bad. I think the guys turned it on when it was winning time, but by then you should have already had been up 10 12 points. you you had a a clear opportunity to run. There was points in the game where Memphis was demoralized. Once I see Jaw hit two shots in a row, I’m like, “All right, wait. Now it’s time. They they they alive now.” So, what I don’t need is people going off the reservation and taking taking the team’s destiny into their own hands in that situation. I need you to pass all the wheel, dog, and just just go and go on about your business, dog. Was just it was bad. Yeah. All right, let’s get to these Let’s get to these super chats here, man. Uh because you you got to see Wimby on Friday. Home opening though, man. I hope I hope everybody that’s in the city, you know, or you know, that’s in the area that’s watching. I hope y’all go, you know, uh if Listen, if the Pelicans lose, you get to see Wimby live. And if it’s if tonight’s any indication what you going to see. Good luck. Chris, before you get the uh super chats real quick, the the line tonight on FanDuel was plus four and a half for the Pelicans. And since Willie Green is inept at drawing X’s and O’s, that turnover that happened led to two more free throws for Memphis and so they won by six. Pelicans would have either made or missed a buck and that would have been the end of the game. So Willie Green also cost me money tonight. So I really appreciate Also, why did they foul at the end of the game? Exact pointed at fears. John pointed at fears, whatever. And then like they foul with like 1.4, you know, Willie, I’m sorry. Before we move on, this last thing was 8 seconds left. Pelicans have one timeout left. They don’t even call a timeout to advance the ball. They give the Zion. They wasted time there. They would They could have gone two or three. Quick hitter. Boom. If you miss the game’s over anyways. Why waste that valuable time? I mean, just stupidity. Yeah. All right, man. Let’s get to these super chats and get and get everybody out of here, man. So, we going to start Michael Morgan. Always on time. Always always showing us love, man. Michael Morgan, same coach, same team. Hey, man. This what we here to do. Michael Morgan. How many back. How many games we do? Our dog e dog man for seven months, man. We really appreciate that, brother. Uh the boobirds got to be out full force for Bill E. Green Friday. Hash fire Billy E Green. All right. Um our dog B Thomas here. This team ends half so bad and start third quarterback. Uh five. What do you attribute that to? Man, whatever happens in between that time, there’s a there’s a period of time that happens, they call it halftime. And when they what h something happens in between there, some voodoo going on. I don’t know. Uh Alto Alto, real quick, what you think Willie Willy’s telling the guys in uh uh halftime? ISO. Floor is yours, bro. He’s singing Barry White to him, telling them they got to practice what they preach. Uh he he talking about who who took the cookies out the cookie jar. Like he’s singing nursery rhymes the wheels on the on the basketball. Yeah. Tight type. All right man. Victor man. Dollar n man. We appreciate it, man. The two-piece, man. Victor again. Two-piece 10 total points from all three bigs. Disgusting. Did Hunter Hunter Dickerson had two points? Can I say this? And yeah, this guy’s my dog. Uh oh. I didn’t think Mei played very well. I I I really didn’t really I I I just think that I I didn’t think he played bad. I thought he was inconsequential. Okay. Like and like because I for example you got he first like his first possession jaws on him. He he does some type of weird move. I forgot he need to travel to file J. It it was something weird. I think he traveled like calm down. You you ain’t got to do that. Relax. Calm down. And a part of it probably was that they really weren’t looking for him like talking about it. Then my god, this just popped into my head. Got a perfect alley thrown to him from Fierce. Just that’s a tough one though. Same side though. But hey, it’s it’s Jawan Johnson. Ball hit your head. Yeah, it’s like you touch your head. No, I Hey, I understand. I’m just trying to give grace. Yeah, if he’s my dog. I hope I hope he’s okay. He He But it’s like, man, these matchups ain’t ain’t going to get no easier for you, dog. Yes. Yes. Yes. This this this one he had before he sprained the ankle, I think he got an offensive rebound or something. He’s right there. Nice feet away. Yeah, he did. He did. One of the possessions. Yeah. Yeah. I think he takes a baby hook instead of more like just going to dunk the ball. I don’t know if that’s just him, you know, trying to be too finessed still or maybe not want to go to the free throw line. I’m not sure. But you got to start dunking the ball and being a little stronger, man. But hopefully the ankle heals up soon. Godamn. I can’t Hunter Dickerson. All right, Shane. Our dog Shane, man. One of my favorite Willie the best Zion defender. Put him out there with Dickerson and then pull Z in the third when he’s heating up. Man, that was the time to go for blood, man. You up four. He’s not a shark, though. No, he’s not a shark. Yeah, I know. It’s like like you can increase it to 20. Like this is I don’t care if J’s being taken out of the game just cuz J you we don’t have schedule substitutes. Okay, J’s out. We can take Zion out. You know what happened when J got taken out in the first half. Memphis went on a run and the same thing happened in that third quarter. Just like get this lead up to 20, man, because you gonna need it. And you know, hey, we ain’t going to will you. All right, who else we got here? Devin, my small piece of silence is that I think UK Joe won’t allow this for long, but I know I agree with that. Devin, I I think I ain’t man. You know, there was some positives tonight. There were some positives cuz the positives I point to are that all right, you didn’t have a second option emerge tonight. Jordan Pool was kind of, you know, swatted by the coach more, you know, they sat him down and obviously I say Herb didn’t necessarily help the situation with kind of cannibalizing the shots and traders didn’t show up. Cannibal the the guys the guys the guys showed up for Memphis, right? And Jordan, I thought Jordan Jeremiah Fears looked great. Um, Queen, it was good to see him out there. He didn’t get many rebounds, but he was battling down there. I would like for you to get some rebounds, though. But his first game, it is what it is, right? Um, I think Mei getting hurt, why is super unfortunate, I just wanted to force Joe’s hand to go get a Rashawn Holmes. Go get I don’t give a [ __ ] He get Dwight at this point. You need some people that look and play like they’re seven feet tall. Hund [ __ ] that might be 72, he don’t play like it. Queen, he looked kind of small out there to me. I’m not going to lie. He he he looked a little short out there to me. and Jon Jackson ain’t seven foot one or nothing like that. So, you just need some imposing people in the front court. That’s what I I really took away. Michael Morgan here again. I mean, you feeding tonight, man. All the players look checked on Willie already, man. I you know, my my first uh suggestion or well, my first guess would be Sadique Bay. U but that’s just Oh, yeah. N was upset a couple times himself. Yeah, I think when he got checked out like well he when he got no pun intended he got taken out the game he was like [ __ ] like and yeah chef Chef Dan the the comment earlier two piece said Hawkins on a flight to Turkey tonight I Hawkins is still a is still a minus on defense you know he kind of is what it is turned over the ball again his first possession he’s done that like four games in a row now but he made both his threes thing I liked about Jordan Hawkins Jordan Hawkins never got inside the ark I’m I like it. Just stay out there. Hey, stay out there. That that’s all that’s all we need you to do, bro. Just just knock just knocked down a couple threes. What up, Leo? Pelicans need a guard, bro. They need a point guard. Yeah, they they could use a nice table setter. They need a point. How they going to do that, though? They in the same position of Rockets. I think How they going to do that though? How they gonna do that while playing while trying to play Fierce and and and um you know, playing Jordan Pool and company. Honestly, I think Queen can take over some of those duties, but I think a table, someone who can kind of set the table a little bit better, kind of neutralizes people going rogue somewhat because, you know, all right, this guy needs to touch Jordan Pool. He just crossed the [ __ ] up, the dude hand, touched the ground, knocked down a three, plucked his eyes out. Hey, let’s go back to that guy. But no, everybody want to be a hero. But yeah, and I think a table setup would take some of the responsibility away from guys like I I don’t want to shoot at all. Here you shoot the ball. Like I I don’t I don’t want to shoot at all. I’m just here to help you get a good shot. I I think that would be nice to have you, you know. And they even took the ball out of Jordan P’s hands. So he could he didn’t even have the the ability to even facilitate. You only had to assist three play three full plays in a row, right? And the thing is like so you look at and not this is not a knock on her but I I love Herb to death but it’s a big difference from somebody the quote unquote this guy can play point guard versus this guy is a point guard or this guy is a league guard. It’s a it’s a huge difference. Yeah. But I mean but but let me ask you how do you h how do you manage that right? You one of the issues you can’t one of the reasons you can’t play Jose right is because you want to play fears as often and you can’t play those two together. Um, how would you manage how do you manage having pool? Um, having some of the other basketball handlers that you have, but knowing that you are going to play Jeremiah Fears and then having a point guard, how how you able to manage all of that? I was about to answer your question initially, but I felt like I was about to be disrespectful, but I’m going to say you can be disrespectful just I mean I mean like like you got to get a better player. Like it ain’t the fact that you can’t play him together with him because one is like it’s it’s like they just both small. Like Fierce is actually good. Like he can hoop like he’s that are unbelievable. No, leave coach Jose alone, brother. Like that. He’s about to he’s about to give unbelievable dividends on that [ __ ] I mean to be disrespectful. I thought it was he could actually walk. Because yo, think about this, right? We seen like for example, look, Zion and Fierce play well play well together from what I’ve seen thus far. So that tells me Fars don’t really have a problem with another ball handler on the court. It just might be who that other ball handler is. You try, you know, no disrespect. I’m not saying nobody name. It just might just need a better player, man. Like we don’t say I don’t know. Can I read a quote from Jeremiah Fears? What he said in the postgame pressure real quick? Yes. Yes, of course. Uh Jeremiah Fears on how he grades his first NBA performance. I’m kind of hard on myself, especially if we don’t win. It was all right. There’s always room for improvement. I got to go back home and get back in the gym. Love that. Love him. Love that. That’s a hooper, dog. And that’s a that’s a dog, too, man. Like, like I could tell I could tell by the way J treated him. Not at the end of the game. He seen it. But when but when Jeremiah was going on that run cuz you know J could be a little talkative to you if he don’t respect you. You know what I’m saying? End of the game. You know what I mean? You know, hey know whatever y’all won. You know you talking [ __ ] But J was quiet. Was quiet. Guarding fears. He was quiet. J was quiet even when he got fears on the opposite side of the floor which is where you know he’s supposed to take advantage of the rookie. Um, that’s telling that when Jeremiah was going on that run, J was like, “Okay, I can’t tell you how good you are, but I see it. Go ahead, V.” And this is what I thought was going to happen where they would make Fierce a primary defender on J. That way, her can play help side. M it you’re not stopping J anyway but at least have your best help side guy with you know mei out be in his best position to help you. Um yeah it just that that line of thinking just would have would have been positive five for those who don’t know when you say when you say having help having having herb helps out what does that mean? Yeah, like having him as a low man, having him not the not the strong side corner, but that way because you can’t help from there. Like you just having him in the vicinity that way J wants to drive middle, right? Like that’s where he wants to be. Having him at the at the nail free throw line uh to to play helpside that way he has to give the ball up and Herb’s so good at recovery and he’s not guarding an elite another elite guard. So it’s easy for him. Like you you’re making it easier for your best guy and then you’re allowing fears to really just try to be straight up with John. If he gets past you, you have help. You’re fine. Damn. Fears isn’t Dyson. But that’s what they that that’s why those two work so well defensively because Dyson would take whoever the lead whoever the lead ball handler guard is. He take that responsibility away from Herb. And to your point, Herb could play helpside and just be we call him Ed Reed, right? He’s not a shut down corner. He’s more of a safety. He’s more of a He’s more of a reactor. He’s more of an instinct guy. He’s more of a when the ball is in motion, you know, that’s why I make the plays. And his in the first quarter where he had like it felt like he forced like four turnovers in a row, it was all off of closeouts. It was all off of being in motion. It was all off of when there was a scramble. was all off of him helping versus him just locking up or forcing the steel uh you know pickpocketing chase you know blocks whatever the you know you know him being the uh the uh on ball defender. Justin, you had something? Yeah, real quick. Uh Zion versus Grizzlies tonight. 27 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five steals. He’s the first Pelican since Demarcus Cousins with a 2555 game. Damn, Cousins. And he wasn’t even at his best. He and Leo leader said he looked rusty. So, what does he look like when he’s good? Yeah. So, look, let look, let me clarify that when I say when I say I don’t fault, but No, no, no. I’m saying I’m saying I’m g I’m viewing him from the gaze of a superstar. So, like if you don’t win, the the the effects of the numbers don’t matter. You ain’t do enough. I agree with you. I agree with you. I totally agree with you. I didn’t think you look great tonight. You know what I think would have helped a lot? Still put up that number. Before we move on, Springer, I would have said Springer, you got job, bro. Because I get to the point where I just I just too skinny to be manhandling the Pelicans like this every time. That just show that you ain’t got no physicality out there. You got to knock this dude down, bro. What the [ __ ] Like, come on. Um, what is this name? Chung. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Definitely. Uh, I want to give a shout out to the two-piece here. Video running. Shout out. Yeah, fear ceiling grown daily comp. I think we we we kind of gave comps throughout the throughout the uh off season of like Jeff Teague. There was some like they hated Dar. They hate it. They said Jeff T. That’s the best. You got Derek Rose. Like he gota be Why Jesus? They hating Jeff Rose. Jeff T was nice. Christ is Derek Rose. I’m telling you, dog. I don’t think it was like they were straight. No, it was it was Kyrie. It was Kyrie first. You got what? They got two. You got two years to be MVP of the league. Okay, we’ll run that back. Jesus. Uh Justin, how the hell did y’all get a lot? Um is that sound like hate? Is that heat? Yeah, Jeremiah. What the [ __ ] I feel like you count. We’re professional. We’re professionals here. What’s your name? Professionals. Pool deserved to win this game tonight, dog. Jordan Pool deserved to win this game tonight, bro. He did. Jordan Pool was pulling off some [ __ ] X. Who was Wait, what was the guy’s name? Um, for the comment that asked about John, dude, when you send him a hat, we need to send him John. Jeremiah Cole. Jeremiah Cole. Jeremiah Cole. It was a super chat. DM. Yeah. You know what? You should do a super chat. But yeah, Brad Labor, y’all some business, man. This was the same game we’ve been watching since Coach Paul Tylers. What’s up, Brad? RP Dola. Do y’all believe Willie Green can can make any good decisions? I do. I think I think nice shoes. I think the decision to trust fears and fears it paid off and the decision to pivot away from Hunter Dickerson fast it paid off and I think that might be a Joe Dumos decision. Might be Joe Dumos decision. Or or even if or even if Willie like kiss an ass even if he trying to save his job. Like one thing I will say about Willie Willie Willie like he gave Hawkins the opportunity Hawkins you know it was it was hit or miss but if you if you trending in the right direction if you trend in the right direction he’ll he’ll keep giving you opportunities. I think Fears is uh making the most of his opportunities. Aside from that and I uh I yield my time. Okay. I think uh I think I think he can choose between a threequarter zip pullup and a polo. I I think his decision- making in that area. Kimberly franchise problem at this point. Uh 520 to nothing run in the third. We are a first half franchise, not just a first half team. always flock up. But this is wild. Sheesh. That’s why you need an older winner on the roster, dog. Like this somebody that can settle things down a little bit. Feel like the Pelas missed Looney tonight. They missed him a lot cuz they couldn’t get an easy shot. They could not get a nice clean shot. They needed somebody who could set a screen. Yep. One of the one of the best screens that was supposed to be set by Mei that opened up I guess one of the cleanest looks that Jordan P had tonight. Yep. It was a movie. [ __ ] screen. Yeah. [ __ ] too. Yeah, I thought it was a boy. Well, shout out to you, man. Being a member for 21 months. Ain’t nobody getting by Willie Green. Bill E Green. Let’s see. Uh, let’s see. We still got a couple more super chats and we out of here. Will chill. I like I like this comment. Herb is a product of his environment, Justin. He watching Trey go invisible and Zion passing up shots. Fire Willie. Watch Trey. I mean, Like I thought so Herb had two different halves tonight clearly. Uh he was very efficient in the first half. Good look at his shots. Shot selections were all threes. Uh I think he went might I want to say he might have gone three for four from deep d in the first half was moving the basketball making extra passes. That’s when you saw the ball movement and the Pelicans were playing free and fast and then the second half it turned into an absolute [ __ ] show. Uh the Grizzlies went on the run. They took out Zion at the wrong time and there was nobody like when Zion went out of the game and Willie and Bill Green was playing defense on Jordan P. They didn’t have a guy. They didn’t have a dude and so Herb was like I would be the dude and he’s it just wasn’t there. I just they’re I think they’re going to make some adjustments there. And look, it’s game one. Um, but it’s really year five of Willie just seeing the same [ __ ] like he had a like I think the biggest moment that the guys have talked about your moment was there seven minutes left in the third when you’re up 10. You could have left Zion in just gone for the win right there, but he didn’t. To to your to your point uh or to Justin’s point here, Chaz, Herb took too many shots cuz Willie set JP for too long. You agree? I I don’t agree with I I thought I thought Willie Green set Jordan Pool way too long. Shout out the prospect. I just think this is the what’s the word I’m looking for? The game plan for her this season. I I I didn’t see a much different player that I saw from Birmingham. I just thought the shots went in earlier tonight. But like cuz to me it ain’t about him missing shots. Like that that’s like he had missed all his threes. I like damn that’s [ __ ] up. You got you got to make these, brother. You got paid. But the thing is, you kept getting blocked at the river. You just kept getting blocked and it wasn’t like you ain’t even tried nothing different. Like you ain’t really have a clear lane to where you could elevate and try to yam on a [ __ ] But you would think, wait, he’s blocking my [ __ ] every time. He at least pump fake, try to get draw some contact and D. And if you look at the the numbers, what it was like I think like 17 points on maybe 14 shots with two free throws. It it was just like nah. You don’t do that. 14 shots. Holy. Yeah. That [ __ ] just to me that kind of confuses the offense because it’s one. Yeah. To me it’s one thing if you got three scores like but when you got another guy who kind of like yo I could do this too. They’re like, “Nah, wait. You’re not really accounted for.” That’s why I think you need a dirt player and like a low usage dirt player that just all I want to do is rebound and defend. I don’t need the ball. Give me 10 12 rebounds, eight points. That’s how I play. And I just Yeah. You know what I’m saying? Somebody like that. I just thought it was it was uh it was tough. It should never be for 14. Him him and Jordan Pool having the same amount of shots, bro. Well, get get used to it. Uh we going we gonna close here, Leo. We gonna close with you. And I think I’m pretty sure we know who he’s talking about here. He’s the dog. My bad. With a uh my dog Trauma without super chat. Where it’s at? Where it’s at? What’s that? Right. Last one. DJ. Imagine going to a Pel’s game with a five piece. Appreciate you, dog. Imagine the Pel game and no matter what the lead is, you don’t feel safe for the entire third and fourth. I don’t think I could do this no more, sir. It’s game one. Yeah. I don’t think I could do this no more, son. Be back here Friday. Oh man. Well, Kai, I thought Kai Alto said he’s the franchise. Get the rest of those losers away from him. He talking about Jeremiah Fierce. I mean, I’m not gonna call the rest of them losers, but but I agree with the franchise comment. I think you got your guy for the future for sure. Um, but man, you got to get that you got to get that defender. Got to get that defender away from him, bro. That defender, he gonna focus on him. Telling you that rookie wall gonna be crazy. He’s playing too good. He’s playing too good. Yeah. Let me start building these bricks. All right. Well, we going to see what game two looks like, man. The home opener, man. Look, good luck. Whby just dropped 40 uh in Dallas. Put put uh spoil spoiled the uh the number one overall pick, Cooper Flags uh debut, Anthony Davis’s return in company. I don’t think that game was close. I believe the Spurs won by 20 or something like that. You got a Friday, but we’ll see, man, as the Pelicans look to get back to 500 in front of the city. Man, appreciate all y’all pull up. Still 410 people live here. We will see y’all Friday postgame. As always, y’all tap in with everybody, man. Tap in the comments, please. If you don’t do it now, after the show, go like, go hit the like button. You ain’t do it now. Go after the show. Hit that hype button as well. Um, and yeah, man. We will see y’all Friday. Holl at y’all.

  1. TMIII is a great role player. BI haters overhyped Trey as a way to undermine how good BI is. That overhype did Trey a disservice. He's not all-star caliber. When he gets back to understanding he's a good role player/6th man he'll settle in.

  2. Willie Green is not a good HC constantly blowing 3rd quarter leads over and over. This team needs a new HC Green should have been gone last season. His rotations are terrible.

  3. One thing I felt was really bad was our lack of ball movement offensively. We are extremely reliant on self creation and just don’t move the ball enough. In the 2nd half at one point I had to look up to see if TM3 even played in the 2nd half since I couldn’t remember him touching the ball.

  4. Man Zion should easily avg 7/8 assists just let Zion start at point I get letting Herb bring the ball up some but it’s no way Trey becomes a corner guy with that why not use Zion with Trey/Poole in 2 man actions or 3 man actions with those 3 the offense in the half court is trash and it’s no real movement with a purpose

  5. Transition defense is nasty work too idk how the hell we never back on defense and the worse part it happens after we score lmao I think fears should start and let Poole come off the bench and run that second team with Jose bey queen and peavy
