  1. Of course Montreal won once again in OT. They have the easiest possible schedule to start the season here

  2. Sucks to have lost last night, but we have already had a five game win streak this year. From 2019 to 2024 we only had 4 win streaks of 5 or longer.

  3. This season is better and changes have been made. However, the roster still is incomplete.

    In all honesty, the roster will need a Genborg. Another big bodied forward that is not afraid to lay hits and battle in corners.

    Then the Red Wings need Kiiiskinen who does the same, but is more of a shooter.

    Add Buchelnikov who has high talent and skill.

    Finally, Bear who has talent and digs in the corners.

    Sure, we can add Plante in there as well.

    Add Anton Johansson on D and Wallinder.

    Here is my point. These guys will play with more energy and feisty forechecking consistently.

    We will be waiving goodbye at some point to Rasmussen, Compher, and Copp. JVR will be retired. Right now, I am hoping Danielson makes the team by late December depending on when he comes off IR and gets some games in GR.

  4. Detroit notoriously struggles with the Sabres. Doesn’t help starting the first 5 minutes shorthanded. Hopefully they respond with a cleaner, more energetic game tonight.

  5. Still need a legit partner for Seider on the top pair D. Hes developed some bad habits knowing he has to cover for Chiarot.

    Thats the delineation between playoffs or not this season. The rest of the roster is good enough. But you cant have chiarot at this stage in his career be on the top pair all season.

  6. Very early to tell, but do the Red Wings have another Dylan Larkin at Center?

    Kasper and Nate, I think will need to at least be 25 goal scorers consistently (yes, I know I it takes time).

    Outside of those two and Lombardi, the Center depth is weak. Teams typically do not forfeit Centers via trade.

  7. Would’ve preferred a win, but the 5 games against playoffs teams is a better sign of this team than a rough game against the Sabres. On to the island!

  8. I like that we seem to win more face offs than we loose. I think there has been several games where we are at 56% wins. Last year I think we were constantly loosing in the circles.

    We need to get some goals from the second line. I can’t watch games only highlights and it seems Debrincat are snakebitten. Chances but no goals.

  9. I don’t know if there is a team I hate to watch the Wings play more than the Isles. Every game is an absolute snooze fest.

    Hoping Cat can bury one tonight, dude just needs to get that first one in and hopefully that will get him into a goal scoring groove.

  14. The wings didn’t play well last night. It definitely was different than the previous 5 games but not as bad as game 1.

    It was their first road trip after their first two day break.

    Also they didn’t lose to a rookie goalie, they lost to the sabres defense making sure they protected their rookie goalie (except the break aways).

  20. Yesterday was unfun, but unfun in a Wings meets Buffalo way and not in a disaster class way. I hope they can bounce back quickly tonight. MBN is due for a goal and so is Cat.

  23. Depth scoring needs to get going. Outside of the top line Larkin, Raymond, Finnie, Appleton (when he was up there), as well as PP points (Cat and Kane), we have virtually no production, through 7 games the most a player has is 2 points.

  25. I’m pretty sure Rasmussen got scratched a few times last season. I want Soderblom in for him tonight.

  26. Came to NYC from SEA for a birthday vacation to see the Red Wings play tonight…hope it goes better than last night

  28. Ya know it doesn’t suck that we lost, we are going to lose, to be disappointed after losing a game after winning 5 is just kinda stupid.

    What’s disappointing is how we lost, and who we lost too, it’s also disappointing seeing Soda and Berggren scratching ass to get playing time when Marshmallow Rasmussen keeps getting ice time.

  29. Well I know the true cause of the loss last night….i watched the game.

    As I promised last night if things went bad I’ll find some mountainy shit to do tonight while the game is on. Itll be cold and dark on the trail tonight, little lonely but we all have to do our part.

  30. Ras is playing like he wants traded, it almost looks intentional now. Can’t blame the guy with the new blood making him basically irrelevant. Maybe Steve will indulge him.

  31. Send Rasmussen to GR to learn how to hit and finish.
    Bring Mazur up, he’s hungry and productive.

  33. The back-to-back penalties at the beginning of the game killed any chance of creating momentum or even driving the play in the first.

  34. At $3.2M a year, would any team take Ras? Ideally getting something in return would be much better than another future consideration to toss onto the pile but he seems so checked out that if im a GM of another team, why would i bother?

  35. Team just seemed disjointed yesterday. Hopefully they have a better start and can get back to what was working.

  36. I’m scared of tonight I’m ngl. The style of game the islanders play might really stop our young team from getting their game going and it might end up looking something like last night

  37. Does anyone else think Ray is still banged up?  He looked a bit off last night.  

  40. Raymond looks off, likely the injury is still lingering. And the loss of Kane made the power play look disjointed last night, like they couldn’t get things settled down for long. When Kane has the puck on the power play it seems to back off the other team’s PK forechecking quite significantly

  41. I feel like Kasper and Ed are going through sophomore slumps. I really hope they can snap out of it quickly because we need them both on their games and producing.

  43. Does anyone have any strong feelings on the Red Wings Fan Fest at Motor City Casino?

    I’m kind of torn – it looks like the tickets are on sale and I live pretty close to Motor City Casino but the whole thing seems kind of lame unless you are really serious about getting autographs.

  44. Cat needs to get it together, 0 goals in 7 games is a tough look. Had several chances last night and couldn’t finish. Hope he gets one tonight and goes on a hot streak

  45. There are two silver linings from last nights game. One is Finnie scored on the only look he got really and made it count, can’t teach that. The second is the PK continue to looked good.

    Even on a off night they were still in it and ya a lot of that is Buffalo but part of that too is the team is learning how to grind out wins

  47. I think last night was the first time I’ve ever seen someone from the Wings organization openly admit that Ken Holland was just trying to extend the streak (and not necessarily win cups) toward the end of his time here. Cheli basically said that on TNT

  48. Yesterday just goes to show that no matter how bad you think a team is or how bad of a start they’ve had, they can still beat you. The gap between teams isn’t that large and any of them can win any given night.

    I hope this group finally takes that lesson to heart. There’s no such thing as an easy opponent. Sucks that it happened against a divisional opponent, but maybe that’s the slap in the face they needed.
