On This Day in Baseball History – October 23

  1. What a stacked lineup

Olerud, Carter, Alomar, Rickey, Molitor and an aging Dave Stewart and Jack Morris at the back of the rotation

  2. I only remember Sean McDonough’s call on CBS…..”Long drive left field way back and GONE!……Joe Carter with a three run homer…..the winners and still world series champions…..the Toronto Blue Jays”.

I was pulling for Philly of course so for me ….my heart sank. I was still mad over the ALCS in ’92…..and here were Rickey and Dave Stewart on THAT team.  At that time my loyalties were still evenly divided between the A’s and Mariners.
