David Pastrnak on Marchand tribute: more emotional than what I expected
So, uh, so many one goal games recently, loss is discouraging, encouraging, a little bit of both. I mean, uh, it sucks, but can you can sit on it, you know? I mean, it does it happen a little bit too often? Yes. Um, but, uh, showing fight is the positive, you know, uh, every night. But uh at the same time you you know going to question yourself why we are in that position that we are and most of the nights it’s our own doing. So that’s something we have to fix you know and can’t be playing from behind or or making those mistakes every night. I know it’s early but uh you know we we wanted to have a good start and and and we did. So we just have to remember the way we played you know uh early on and obviously uh uh when you know the losses uh get stuck up on each other. Um it’s always harder to get that win and come out, but and we’re going to have to put it together and you know uh it’s going to take a um team effort. So um have to you know come back and and ready to work tomorrow, fix the mistakes. What’s the message from the leadership group to make sure frustration doesn’t take over for you guys? Um yeah, I mean I I think I’m pretty much set now. You know, I just when I have to show up and and and ready to work can be much better, you know, that’s the positive. But at the same time, uh we can talk much we want, but we have to prove it out there. We have to be smarter and make uh focus on details. You know, the at the same time, you know, we were down two nothing. But if if you look at it how we were down to nothing, it’s two 1 second mini breaks and and mistakes that uh you know goes to the details and and that’s when we have to you know be dialed in because it takes one second uh in this league and you know you already playing from behind. So uh just going to have to u maintain the focus I think for all the mini plays like face off and and details. What adjustments did you guys make power playwise in the third period? Just there just hit some shots. too much uh getting around nothing happening. Uh it isn’t a good thing I think of uh people and for PP group as well. What can you say about the energy that that V and Castle and really that fourth line brought today and just always Yeah. Yeah. It’s u it’s awesome to see them battle every night. You know, they did it all out there and um um on P and playing very tough minutes and and you know they they’re here every night. So, uh, uh, it’s fun to, uh, watch them and and, you know, sometimes you have to make sure you bring the rest. What was going through your mind like a video actually? Uh, I mean, I, you know, obviously ready for that, but at the same time, uh, really, uh, caught me by surprise or was much more emotional than I thought I would be. So, um, yeah, it was good to see him, you know, back at the Garden, but at the same time, yeah, I think it was, uh, a little bit, uh, more emotional than than what I expected and obviously welld deserved and, you know, we we know the way he feels about the Boston and and the city and and you know, raised his family here. So, um, it is uh for sure tough for him. Uh but uh you know he enjoyed it uh on a human being level and tonight and had a good night.

Pasta is such a class act. He is thoughtful and well-spoken. Great player and a great spokesman for what hockey is.
