Brewers on the Brink of Elimination

Hope for Milwaukee in the ninth. Two hits in a walk. Got him. Ball game. The Dodgers win it. Sasaki closes the door. Los Angeles wins it three to one. They are 8 and one in this postseason. Steam rolling their way through this playoff run. Oh boy. Well, that’s certainly not what we wanted and yet we’re here. The Brewers lose game three to the Los Angeles Dodgers in LA by a score 3 to one and they fall three to zero in the series. Let’s talk about it folks. Let’s talk about it. Welcome in. My name is Josh Alrech. That’s Mitch Thunderellis. We are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. What do we say now, Mitch? What do we say? Crowd is here about to blow waiting for me to start the show. Okay, the curtain lights go up. I’m home. Whoa. I don’t know what to I I I don’t know what to say. Like I I I I’m so at a loss of I’m just I’m sad. I’m bummed. I’m frustrated like everybody. I’m starting to turn on Murf and I don’t want to turn on Murf. Whoa. I know. I hate it. I hate that I’m secondguessing Murf because I love Murf. I love what he’s all about. Um and and and maybe you’re just overmatched and money’s an issue and all those things. H But man, I don’t feel good this morning. No. Hard to feel good this morning. And uh as we have multiple times this week, I’m going to go to the Micay Law fan talking text line, which is of course 4146771250. We hope you join us throughout the show. Let us know your thoughts after that game three loss. Justin from Port multiple multiple times start. Well, he puts us to bed and he wakes us up. That’s what Justin from Port does. He’s like my mommy. And he said this was this was nine hours ago. He said again, “I’m sulking and bitter about tonight’s loss, cautiously hopeful about tomorrow, but I know the odds are low for a comeback. Nonetheless, I still dream about a day when I can say the Brewers are World Series champions.” Then fast forward to 13 minutes ago and Justin from good old 550 after sleeping on it. Brewers, I think, peaked early and whatever they may have had left was used to beat the Cubs in game five. Trying not to be down on a Friday. But man, this is tough to accept. I’m already nervous for tonight. Bring on Sewing with Nancy. Wow. Oh boy. Wow. An early That’s an early sewing with Nancy reference. It’s an early sewing. We learned something amazing yesterday, which we’ll get to. Which we will get to. Uh but first of all, if if you’re listening to the show this morning and you’re like, “Okay, what is this sewing with Nancy thing?” Maybe you were uh you had a different route yesterday or you missed part of Yeah, there was a there was a listener who texted in to the Nicay Law fan talking text line and said, “I’m already fearing for the worst for tonight. Not even going to watch the game tomorrow. If they lose, right, I’ll just watch Sewing with Nancy on PBS.” Neither Mitch or I knew what that was. No, knowing that, of course, that’s reruns because Nancy passed in 2017, correct? Um and uh but but uh ran a national sewing show on PBS uh from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. I don’t know if she did from Beaver, but she lived in that’s where she lived. Yeah. So anyway, that became the joke and uh and you should know that when we talk about Yeah. Um so that will be a recurring theme today. Yes. Agreed. Yeah. So here we are and um man. Yeah. That’s that’s that’s that’s right. I poop. Where do where do you where do you start? Uh, can I start positive, please? Miseroski is a stud. I know that Murf and we’ll hear from Murf. I know that there were shadows. I know that it was afternoon at Chavez Ravine and all those sort of things, but and I know and I don’t want to go back to Sparky’s text about, man, no matter what happens, the future looks good. Blah blah blah. Yeah. But man, Miz is good. Miz is whoa. like he was awesome last night. He was on one last night and he he’s electric, man. And he looked like he looked his first month up. And I’m beginning to think based on how he’s pitched in the playoffs that his bump in August/september was the apparition. And that awesome Miz is really the real Miz. And and I’m excited about that. I know it’s not going to help this year. Correct. I know. And it and it helped for a while because I I don’t even want to talk about Murph and Ashby. Okay. But Miz was awesome. Yes, he was. And there will be opportunities, plenty of opportunities to discuss for next season what this team’s going to look like, the differences in this team from what it is right now. Yep. But in this game, everything was exactly the same as it has been through the entire NLCS. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. The Brewers bats couldn’t couldn’t get runners home. They just couldn’t do it. One run. It didn’t matter how. It could have been a leadoff home run from Jackson Cheerio. It could have been a single from Jake Bowers. Doesn’t matter. It was only going to be the one run. And you were never going to beat this Dodgers team with one run, right? It just wasn’t going to happen ever. Now Mitch, you were on record saying What did I say? That the magic number that the Brewers needed to score was four. I’m not I’m not on record. Tommy’s on record. Earth is on record. They’re like 90 and 20 this year, right? When they score four or more runs. And we made that clear like in May, right? Like we knew that in May. And so we talked about that all summer long on the Mason Crosby Show. Every single day. If they get to four, they win. If they don’t get the four, they lose. That’s it. That’s the list. Uh uh Josh, I don’t know. I I don’t know math that good. What would What would the series be right now if the Brewers scored four runs in all three games? Uh two to one. Two to one who? Brewers. Wow. Yeah. So, so you’re telling me there’s some science to my science? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, absolutely. Just checking. And boy, would it have been fun if it was two to one. Oh my Josh, would we have would you and I have a little different energy right now? I mean, it would be we would be jumping out of our shorts. Like people on the radio right now can hear it, right? Like like Kirsten from Green Bay who’s listening on one of our brand new affiliates. So awesome. Thank you, Kirsten. Just feeling uber disappointed. It feels like they’ve lost all their spark. Not just like Yes, I agree. Agree. So have we. So have the fans. Like we’ve all lost that spark. But how do we not? That’s my That’s my big thing. Okay. Like they’re gonna thing we shouldn’t have. I know there gonna be some people this morning that still text in and go, you know, well, listen, the fans didn’t even after game one, they they all blah blah blah this team blah blah blah. This is this was a very difficult stretch of baseball to watch as a fan. Mhm. It wasn’t that they lost, it was how they lost. Y you watched Pat Murphy put together pitching lineups that were frustrating. Yeah. That were nerve-wracking. Yeah. That for the most part held their own through the entire postseason. They held their own. The offense never was there. And I am so sick of having that be the reason why the Brewers can’t advance and advance and advance in the postseason. I’m sick of it. I’m not over the the Craig Council days where the bats went cold either. It’s just it’s exactly the same. Why Why is it exactly the same? Why is it always exactly the same? It doesn’t matter who’s on the team, who was hot then, who was hot now. Yep. They’re just gone. They’re always gone when you need them the most. Yeah. I I I would have been I I promise you I’d be feeling 100% different if we lost these three games. Seven to six, eight to five, and you know, five to four. It’s but but one run, one run, one run, constant strikeouts, all three games. That is frustrating baseball to watch when you won 97 games doing the opposite. When I hear Brian Anderson say this team, you know, third in pitches taken, uh, second in runs scored and putting all the saying all these stats as they pan pan to the dugout of them all just grumpily sitting standing there after striking out. Thank you. Striking out. Striking out. 12 strikeout. Yell three times. Terra two times. Freelick two times. I sent a tweet last night and I don’t know like I I I mean we’ve all been feeling this, but I literally wrote, “Is it just me or is something just wrong with our lefty hitters except for Jake? The three main guys seem to be really broken slashflailing right now.” And that’s how I feel like Freelick, Terrain, and Yellish. Like something’s wrong. Is something wrong in the water with our lefties? I don’t like did something happen because everybody else not not every time but is having competitive at bats. I mean Shurio wasn’t good last night and then he got hurt and we’ll get to that. Contraras didn’t hit well last night but has had competitive at bats. Vaughn has had competitive at bats. Durban hit well last night. Yeah, Durban of all people, right? Our lefties have been absolutely abysmal. Freelick Turing and Yell. And none of them are above reproach. None of them are out of the spotlight. They are all have the spotlight. I mean, Yelich, I know he had the one hit. Okay. And so I want to ask you about that. Yeah. Yeah. So he has So Yelich has this blooper. I mean, not even a blooper. Didn’t even make it. Yeah. Yeah. Dribbler in the infield, but there’s no way they were going to get to which he had a bunch of this year. Sure. Like and that’s the thing about this Brewers team, right? Even on those, they run hard. They make you make the throw. Yeah. Right. And so that was a perfect example of what this team has been. That’s how they peck away. Mhm. It’s not a strikeout. You get the ball in play, you give yourself a shot. That’s what they did. Yep. Yell does that. He gets on base. Yep. I’m like, there’s a hit. First hit. We spent what, two days? Two days almost straight feeling calls and texts of Yell sucks. This guy 0 for 17. He gets this dribbler. He gets on base. Mhm. Did a little part of you go, “Here we go.” Yeah. Yes. Oh, totally. For me, tonight’s going to be different even even though he didn’t hit the ball hard, but that’s what Yelich did this year. I mean, Brian Anderson said it as Yelich hit that ball. They led the Major League Baseball in 167 infield hits. They had more dribblers than anybody because they put the bat on the ball and that gets, you know, and the way that that in infield positioning works nowadays. Like a lot of those are hits and they just got hit after hit after hit all season long. And yell, it’s like maybe just getting that bat on the ball, getting it fair, not hitting a grounder to second or to the pitcher, just hitting it the other way, just getting on first maybe just felt a little different and it felt good for a second and then, you know, and and then they weren’t able to capitalize. It gave you a little bit of hope, right? And then and then and then Ashby took all that hope away. Yeah. Yeah. And and listen, Otani, that hit he had in the first inning, I mean, it was way outside. He just threw his bat at it. Like I don’t blame Ashby for that. No. But then the first pitch to bets just the the you know just right down the middle RBI double and then it’s like ah here we go. Yep. Right back to it. Right back to it. And then the Brewers listen they had their chances. I mean we’re I feel like we could do a whole segment and actually we we might we might on what what happened with that leaving from third running home from third with with Bowers. I don’t I don’t even know how to feel about it. The the point is the main takeaway is all of these games have had frustrating moments. All of them overall have been very frustrating to watch as a fan. It’s been very difficult to sit there and have hope throughout all nine innings of baseball. And now they’re down 3 and 0. Yeah. To the team with the most money and the most talent. And and let’s and let’s also let’s say that, okay? It’s not just the most money like these they spend money on these talented players that are they’re really good. Okay. Absolutely. It’s not it’s not even that we’re just saying, well, yeah, they got a lot of money. They do. They do. But they spent their money wisely as well, which as we know from the New York Mets, right? That doesn’t always work, right? There are a bunch of teams that have money, right? And not wisely. Correct. Exactly. Uh Kirsten in Green Bay writes into the Nicola Law Fan talking text line just to correct me. actually listening s watching via YouTube and have every day since Josh returned to the radio. Hey, uh, should we tell should we tell Julie about that? Um, go ahead. Uh, 262 says, “I’m the most negative guy.” Oh, I’m sorry. Ryan in the Falls. I’m the most negative guy there is, but let me tell you this. The movie of the Brewers coming back from 3 is going to be epic. I’m sorry, Ryan. I thought you said you’re the most negative guy there is. That was the complete opposite. DK and NB, which I assume is New Berlin. New Berlin. I love when people say New Berlin. Tell me tell me you’re not from here without telling me you’re not from here. Yeah. Wish um DK in New Berlin says couple things. Dodgers are better. Brewers hitters have been exposed. Dodgers are throwing 65 to 70% changes up change up curve changes up change ups and curve balls. Baseball is a cruel game. The crulest of them all. Yeah. I Baseball is the crulest of them all. Is it that’s a good You know what, man? Not for today, but that’s a great topic. I was going to say, how negative do we want to go? Which sport is the coolest? How negative do we want to get today between baseball, basketball, and football? Hello, Darkness, my old friend. Um, did you did you just go Simon Garuncle or Aaron from Stained? No. You know that heavy metal version? That’s not Stained, isn’t it? Aaron Lewis. I thought Aaron Lewis from St. Disturbed. Oh, it is Disturbed. You’re right. My bad. Hello, Darkness. My old friend I’ve come to you know I hum that song all the time doing the dishes. Do you? Yeah. Not that that’s not Do you just stare out the window as you’re doing that thinking of a different life? Yeah. I do now. Yeah. I do now. Yep. Absolutely. I love you, Mrs. Thunder. Uh 414 says, “Yeah, I agree, Josh. This is lifeless. If Murf doesn’t dramatically change the batting order, I’m laying this all on him.” Also, what is this obsession with Ashby? What leverage does Ashby have on earth? Got to start Ashby tonight, right? Got to start Ashby. If you don’t start Ashby, right? What are you doing? Should you even believe in life and earth and love if you don’t start Ash? Listen, listen. I love I What’s What’s one of the main things we don’t do on the show? We don’t tell people out of fan. Right. Right. Right. The the amount of people that have gone after Murf and the pitching staff and the decisions on pitching is incredible to me. You’re allowed to do it though. You’re allowed to do it and people have done it and I get it. But none of it has mattered. None of it has mattered. All NLCS. Anyone who thought this pitching staff was good enough to blank the Dodgers is insane. And that’s what it would have taken to win every single one of these games because the Brewers scored one. Not just every single one of these games, any of the games. I take one shut out at this point. You know what’s really hard to do in baseball? Shut out. As good as the Dodgers pitching staff has been, they haven’t shut out the Brewers, right? The Brewers have scratched one across in each game, which is nothing, which is chicken scratch, which is bump kiss, right? But at least they haven’t gotten shut out. I mean, but that’s that’s all that the offense has provided. Check my pub kiss. I I did. I just I don’t know how your number one takeaway analysis overlooking is not on the offense and the fact that this offense struggled. It wasn’t even like there was one person through the entire LCS that was hot and the rest of the team wasn’t. I mean, Durban Durban who who had Durban being the guy in game three. I bet somebody did. I’ll bet some people did. People love Durban, man. Come on. Durban’s one of those one of those dirt dogs. No, he just he just gets dirty. He plays hard all the time. Absolutely. I give it to Durban. I like that kid. And he plays solid D. Yeah, he’s real good at third. Yeah, listen, good defense from this team. All right, so here’s my question about Derban. Okay, if they were, you know, in a different universe. Yeah. If they were able to get Alex Bregman just opted out with the Red Sox, he’s an all-star third baseman, has been for the past six, seven years. If they were to get an all-star third baseman, would you would you make Durban just a utility guy or are you like married to Durban? I’m not married to Durban. Okay. And let me tell you, I’m also not ready to have the who am I married to conversation with this team because that’s going to happen. Yeah, that’s an offse. I know. Who who do we bring back? Who’s our starter? Who are we? Blah blah blah. Oh, I’m not ready for that. I love the Cub hate on Twitter, by the way. There’s a Did you see the new shirt? No. You don’t want to? I I promise you I don’t. Okay. No, I don’t want to see it. Let’s let’s uh let’s save that for tomorrow. Um I appreciate everyone by the way tweeted last night by the way is saying I’m not well. I’m not well. Did you see what I tweeted last night? No. Multiple times I was even replying to people with my tweet. No words, just an image of the cover of the book Good Night Moon. Good night Moon. That’s it. That’s it. That’s a wrap on the series. Good night mittens. Good night kittens. Good night. Good night Durban. Good night Ortiz. Good night, Flurban. Good night, Brewers. That’s it. Good night, Moon. On their knees. There’s no There’s Listen, it’s good. Well, I I don’t even know the stats. Has one team come back from three? I think one team, right? Yes. One team ever. Very famously. Yeah. 2004 Red Sox. Yeah. Yeah. Weird that you’d know that, but weird that I was in St. Louis. Yeah. when they won game four after winning eight in a row to beat, you know, um, so I mean, one team’s done it in history of baseball ever. It one team in the history of baseball, which by the way, there’s no league, no sport that’s been around longer or kept stats longer than baseball. And there’s been one team to do it. Hockey, I think it’s happened three times because a hot goalie changes everything. Sure. I don’t think it’s ever happened in basketball. I don’t uh, no. Once in baseball. Once. ever. 2004. That’s what you have. 21 years ago. Tommy Tommy and Charlie weren’t even alive yet. No, that’s not where they were. They were in diapers, were they? Yeah. It’s weird that Tommy was still wearing diapers at four, but you know, would anybody not believe that? Listen, still wearing diapers. He’s still sleeping, so it doesn’t matter. That’s right. Oh, we have a lot to get to today. We have a jam-packed show. Andy Herman is going to be joining us at 7:20. We have our morning mind dump, which boy oh boy, I cannot wait for that this morning. That’s going to happen right before him at 7 o’clock. We have I have questions coming up next, followed by the most electrifying sound of the day. And Trevor Thomas will be joining us again at 8 a.m. You are not going to want to miss it. Be a part of it. Let’s get it out together everybody. I’m Josh Albert. That’s Mitch Dunellis and we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. [Music] Welcome back in. I’m Josh Alrech. Mitch Dunn and Ellis across from me. Here we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. You know, we talked we talked already this morning about things that happened on Twitter. If you’re confused by that, you should be following us on Twitter. That would that would help you know how would how we’re talking about. How would someone do that, Josh? Well, I’ll tell you how. I would tell them what our handles are. Like, for example, mine is on airsh Mitch. Yours is thunderke. See, that’s how you do it right there. And uh Oh, and that music’s going to go out. You can also watch us live on YouTube. Okay. Do you know that you watch us live on YouTube? You say, “Hi.” So, I I’m watching me on YouTube right now. Yeah. See, uh, you can also be a part of the conversation on the Nickel Law fan talking text line, which is 414-6771250. Lot of people up early this morning. Lot of people up early. How do you do it? We appreciate you guys. I hate it. And yet you’re here. I don’t Do I have a choice? I mean, I guess I could have not come, but when Sparky says jump, I say how high. Yes, I I’ve heard you say that in response to him. Oh, we should volume down. Yeah, that would be good as well. Listen. Uh, so this segment is called I have questions and it’s where we have questions. We ask them, we also answer them. You can ask your questions on the niclay law fan talk and text line which is 4146771250. You can do that as a talk or text. Brian from Maguano said, “I’m going to do that as a talk.” He joins us now. Brian, how we doing? Hey, good morning guys. Hey, I know it’s depressing to watch this, but you know what? You can’t blame the Brewers pitching staff. Um, they’ve been solid. I mean, this is a borderline. I mean, they they’re gonna have some Hall of Famers in this lineup on the Dodger side, but it’s the hitting. And one point I really wanted to call is why is little Jolie always comes into play with men in the scoring position? The guy had cannot even get the ball out of the infield. And Contrarus and Yell are really pressing. Before the ninth inning last night, they were one for 27 combined. You match that against Freeman, Yascar Hernandez, Joey Atani, he’s having a bad series, but they they get walks. And I think that the Brewers, if you notice, they’re doing something this year. I mean, in the playoffs that they did not do all year is they were gap hitters. And when they would drive the balls to the gaps, the balls would somehow find the wall barely, but it would get over. Now they’re like swinging for defenses because they’re just I mean, even yesterday’s game, it was pretty solid for the first five innings. And then all of a sudden the Brewers, it’s like they’re just waiting for the Dodgers to get a home run, explode, get a couple runs, and then they all feel like they got to swing for the fences. They are just totally out of sync. They’re not playing Brewer baseball. They’re totally trying to play Dodger baseball, and that’s not their game. I appreciate the watch. Because up and down the pitching sty pitching pretty solid and nobody’s gotten schmode in any any outing. That’s Brian. Yeah, that’s Brian. Thanks, Brian. Uh, a few things. So, Brian, first of all, he got his I have questions and morning mind dump all in on one call. Uh, so he took care of that, but we appreciate the call. I’m going to answer his question in I have questions. Okay. And his question was, if you didn’t hear it in there, was why are we starting little Joey? Oh, yeah. Who then ends up being at the plate every time with men in scoring position. True. All right. Well, a few things. First, where where would you put him? I’ll I’ll you know well otherwise in the line it’s not like you know M just gets the ability to choose who goes up there with runners in scoring position. I think the question is does Mon did Monasterio earn a start at some point probably before now. Sure because you trust his bat more than Joey’s. Although Joey’s glove is I mean he’s a gold glove shortstop, right? I mean that’s why he’s in the game. That is correct. But can you can you can you compete in a sport when you’re playing eight on nine or like when when uh Ajax is on the court for the Bucks and you’re four on five on offense? Like can you can you play down a man and you know in the playoffs you can’t. In the regular season you can you can but in the playoffs you can’t. Like Joey either needs to figure out what’s going on at the plate or they need to move on from Joey. That’s it. That’s the list. Yeah. Listen, you can’t you can’t be if you’re a serious contender. Yeah. You can’t only be good in the in the field. Yeah. There needs to be more than that. That is correct. I mean, maybe back in the day and if you were a pitcher, right? Maybe that was then the conversation, but they don’t have that anymore. The whole league went DH. Yeah. Now it’s you have to hit. You have to be able to hit, right? You ha you have to be able I mean he what was he first or second in Major League Baseball this year in batting with the bases loaded like number of plate appearances and if he was just an average hitter he’d have much better numbers because of how many times he comes up with guys in scoring position because one through eight again play Brewer baseball they put the bat on the ball they and Joey’s put the bat on the ball a little bit but like it’s just not enough. It’s just not enough. Mitch I have questions. Yeah, Josh, do we did we overlook as Brewers fans the injuries that the Dodgers had in the regular season when the Brewers played them? Did we over because we knew we knew at the time, but we still said, “Yeah, but that’s just their pitchers. Their all of their money bats were still there and we beat them. Otani wasn’t out. He still bat. We beat him.” Did we overlook though the importance of those guys that were injured? I think I think all of Major League Baseball did in terms of under undervaluing or underrating how good the Dodgers are. You know, we talked about this on our show. Uh re just this week, Blake Snell missed four months. Tyler Glasnau missed two months, three months. Otani spent the first half of the year not pitching and then pitching one inning at a time and two innings at a time and building up. Um, and so we saw we did see a Dodgers team that was different than Yamamoto made every start. He made 30 starts just like Freddy did. Um, but besides that, this was a different starting rotation. And and you know what’s nice? You know what must be nice? Yeah, tell me what must be nice. 29 teams would love to have the luxury of having your three best pitchers, not have to pitch half the season, still be good enough to get into the playoffs and get them healthy. Listen, I’m going to argue against that. I’m going to argue against argue against whatever you want because the Brewers tell you how to fan. The Brewers had a very similar path. The Brewers found a way to win some games when they had a lot of pitching injuries. How long at in the first two months of the season, right? Was it the first two full months of the season? It was, you know, piecing things together however they could, finding ways to win games, waiting for our our pitchers to come back. And I understand then they got injured again. We had the injury bug at the end of the year. I mean, mostly with Woody though, right? It’s mostly just Woody. But I still think a healthy Woody changes this whole playoffs. I don’t Woody wasn’t going to bat. No, but he would have. But pitching in that Cub series means the Cub series is in a fivegame series. Means the team has a lot more confidence. And I think part of what’s going on, as much as Murf is Murf, and I love how he approaches the press conferences, I love how he talks. I think this team is pressing, I think they are feeling the pressure. Absolutely. Even though they played in the playoffs last year, like they know what it was like to lose to the Mets last year. So they should have a different mindset this year. But I think in a way having the most wins in all major league baseball, um having homefield advantage throughout may have set them in a place where they set up expectations for themselves like, hey, we’re going to play in the World Series like we and now that they get down to the Dodgers 2 from at home and now down 3 0, they put this pressure on themselves that it’s just no matter how you try to get out of a funk or get out of putting pressure on yourself, if it’s in your head, it’s in your head. Mitch, do you have a question? I have more questions if you don’t have a question. Um, I have a question that has nothing to do with anything. Okay, then I’m going to go again. Yeah, that’s what I figured. I have a question. Yeah. The Brewers when they win 96 games in the regular season or more have made it to the NL to have made it to the LCS. Okay. What do they have to do to make it past the LCS? Because because they haven’t they they’re not like the Orioles were. at all. Listen, it it’s not like the Orioles, right? It’s not it’s not a situation to where they’ve won 96 plus games and not made it to the LCS. To my knowledge, every time they’ve won that many games in the regular season, they have made it to the LCS. So, there there is some consistency there. What What do they have to do to get to the next step, to get back to the World Series, to get through the championship series? I I think they need to I I I don’t know. I mean, I think they need not necessarily Fragent. I think they need some of their bats to develop into major bats. And And when your best bat, your your top hitter throughout the season decides to noshow in the playoffs completely, Christian Yelich. I think that’s hard. I think that Jackson Cheerio before last night had shown up, but he’s hurt. And he’s not quite that guy, right? He’s not the 37 home run guy. He’s like a mid20s home run guy. They need a couple players in the middle of their lineup who are, and listen, I know Suarez has been horrible for the Mariners. He’s not the guy I’m pointing to, but they need a balance of the Durbans and Terra and Felix and the little engine that engines that can with the big boppers like they they need Alonzo in the middle of the lineup. They need not Aaron Judge but that like those types of players and maybe they thought Reese Hoskins could have been that guy. Christian Yell is supposed to be that guy. Exactly. But that’s my point. You need your not you need your your best offensive player. This very well could not stink. The the Mets thought the same thing. Like that’s the thing. You could still have a team where you think you have those pieces and then it it doesn’t work. And that’s and that’s what’s so frustrating about looking the the mindset of the Brewers. I hate I hate and I’ve made it known the bites of the apple quote. I Oh, it drives me nuts. But this I I feel like that’s the only way to do it. And I I I hate it because this is this is just proving the point of you need the bites of the apple because this team won 97 regular season games. They found ways to be the best team in baseball. All I heard when I was trying to when I said I don’t want the Cubs and I’m analyzing who the Brewers are going to have to play on their path to the World Series. All I heard from fans, including Trevor, who we’re going to talk to at 8:00, was why are you worried? It doesn’t matter who we play. The Brewers were the best team in baseball. Champions fear no one. Brewers play Brewers baseball. Champions fear no one. You just said they can’t run into a buzzsaw. Well, so so so then you’re you’re saying there is luck involved. There is luck involved with this of how it falls out, how it how the plan lays out. Any playoffs in any sport has luck involved of matchups of who you get matched up with. Yes. Of who? Yeah. not of matchups, but of who you get matched up with. Because again, like the Packers in 2010 were a six seed, but they were the buzzsaw. A lot of times we’ve seen that with wildcard teams, both in baseball and in football, because that’s the team that’s hot, right? And the hot team, it doesn’t matter how good you are through 162 or it doesn’t matter how good you are through 17 games in football. If you are the hot team at the if in the in December, you come into the playoffs hot, that’s a lot different than starting six and 0 and then going whatever it is eight and three the rest of the way. So you’re 14 and three and you think you’re great, but you’re not as good as you were when you were six and0. The Brewers are not as good as when they won 11 in a row or when they won 14 in a row. And the Dodgers are a lot better than when they got swept in six games against the Milwaukee Brewers in July. It’s not July. No, it’s October. These are different teams. And that’s why Well, and I said that, too. I swear I said that yesterday that these are different teams. And I got told, “No, these are the same teams.” I believe you said that with Trevor. I believe that Trevor was on. I’d have to go back and check the tape. But of these, Josh, are these the same teams? And I said, “No.” And you both said absolutely they are. No, they’re different teams. I’m glad at least you’re redacting that. It’s not a takeback Tuesday, but I’m glad that that happened. I want to know and please help me on the niclay law fan talk and text sign. I’m going to bring this up multiple times today. What does the Brewers organization have to do to to get that extra step? I know a lot of people are going to say they got to spend more money. They got to spend more money. I don’t know that that’s it. A lot of teams spent a lot of money this year and they didn’t win 97 games. They didn’t make it to the LCS. True. The Brewers did. For the third time since 2011, they’ve made it to the LCS after having 96 or more wins and the result is still the same. No World Series. I want to know. I want to know. Help me out, please. Nico Law fan talking text line. 4146771250. Coming up next is the most electrifying sound of the day and it comes from football which man I was hoping maybe be a Brewer highlight but comes from the world of the NFL and that is coming up next. Brought to you by our friends at Best Electric. I am Josh Alrich. That’s Mitch Thunder Nellis and we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. Welcome back. Josh Albert here. Mitch Thunder Nellis there live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. Got a lot of texts to get to on the Niclay Law fan talking text line. Appreciate your participation this morning bright and early. Hey bud, there’s going to be a lot a lot of people texting in today and I’m here for it. I also am looking for that answer. What is this what is this Brewers organization have to do differently to make it past the LCS for the first time since 1982? What do they have to do? Cuz they did a lot. All right, hold on. Hold on. They did a lot. Hold on. This reminds me, yeah. of the same question. What do the Badgers need to do to not just be 10 and two every year, but make it to the national championship picture? And what did they do? The they hired a high-profile coach who came in and destroyed everything. Yeah. Okay. So, that’s not it. So, it’s not that. I just want I just want to caution people as we are unhappy with where we are today. making sure we remember what happened to our Badgers and not you don’t just hit the panic button because the Brewers aren’t doing exactly what we want them to do. Nice hat by the way. Thank you. In this segment, we do the most electrifying sound of the day and it is brought to you by our friends at Best Electric. Remember, no job is too big or too small for Best Electric. Don’t stress, connect with the best. Call them today or visit bestelectlect.com. Blacko down the sideline. Caught and sliding to a stop at the six is Higgins. Brilliant. Just brilliant. Snap. Good. Hold good. Kick. Good. What a night. What a night. What What a What a football highlight that happened last night. Listen, uh, full disclosure, the Brewers lost that game and we had talked about on what’s up Wisconsin yesterday. True. That what was going to happen after the Brewer game, what I was going to end up watching was going to be based on what happened in the Brewers game. Y, it didn’t happen. It didn’t happen. It became um it became the Brew the Brewers lost and then sports were done. Yeah. For the day. For the day. Thousand% I agree. It was it was not choosing between the two. It was No, I’m not watching any of this. I went to bed. Yeah. It was like I had I had Big Rumble’s choir concert last night. Yeah. How’d that go? It was great. You know, it was good. The the you know, in between every song, the uh Mr. Johnston was like, “All right, what’s the score now?” Oh, that’s awesome. He was like, “I was at Mumford and Sons.” Oh, that’s great. And and they were great, but like let’s respect the music. Let’s respect the kids. Let’s give them their attention. I’m sure everybody’s on their phones, but let’s also be present. I love I love But he leaned into it, right? He leaned into it. And then once once the game ended and there were groans in the crowd and he knew what happened. Um he was like, “All right, sucks. We’re all bummed. Let’s concentrate on the rest of the concert.” We got home and I was like, “I’m not I’m not w I I I’m trying to think. I don’t think I even turned on the television. Like I didn’t turn on the ALCS. I didn’t turn on football. I was like, “Got to finish cleaning the kitchen and go to bed.” Yep. You find other things to do. Uh but we should have turned on the football game because it was a hell of a football game. uh if you’re just a sports fan and uh and that that little uh sound right there was our most electrifying sound of the day brought to you by our friends at Best Electric uh contact them. They are the best. You don’t have to stress. Nope. You can connect with the best. Love them. Um in that game, the Bengals, the same Bengals that the Packers just beat, uh then went to play the Steelers and they beat him. It didn’t look like they were going to, but a hell of a finish there. Uh, I heard on Maggie and Pearlof this morning. Aren’t they a law firm? On the way in. Yeah. Maggie Pearloff and uh, Western Meer. Maggie Pearloff and Associates. Yes. Um, Joe Flacco threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the second half last week against the Packers. And obviously he kept that going. He threw for like 342 yards and three touchdowns. If you picked him up in fantasy this week, you did a good job. Um, I had the Pittsburgh Pirate uh, Pittsburgh Steelers defense playing. I was going to say if you had the Pirates, they also did terribly losing 0 to -4. That’s good. Yeah, that’s I’m happy about that. Hey, at least the Brewers also lost. Uh that’s great. But anyway, so the uh Yeah, that ended up being exciting games. T Higgins with a huge catch and then slid down, which is got to be one of the hardest things to do in the NFL when just having that ability to to switch that mindset to not get into the end zone when you’re wide receiver. everything has to be trying to get in the end zone. Uh but he did it. They ended up being able to burn the clock and not give Aaron Rogers much of another chance. Aaron Rogers four touchdowns but two interceptions. Uh again, I didn’t see either of them. I heard one was terri one was like like a Favre just like he threw it as far as he could. Yeah. Into coverage and it was like almost like a punt. Sure. Where he just like threw it to the other team. Yeah. I I I have to say I was impressed. He did have like a Hail Mary at the end toss. He had the opportunity but it was like I was surprised. I mean it got there. Yeah, your boy still has an arm, dude. Aaron Rogers. Aaron Rogers, bro. Yeah. I mean, he he launched it. 414 with the tweet of the day. Okay. I’m hearing about Bengals Steelers and the NLCS and I’m confused. I thought the show was all about sewing with Nancy. Yeah. There. Do you want to play the clip? There it is. Should we play the clip? We’re going to get to the clip. All right, we’ll get to the clip. We’re going to get to the clip. Uh the in the 7:00 hour, something incredible happened yesterday that cannot be ignored. It has to be brought up because it is literally insane. I agree. Second time I’ve said that. I’m glad that you’re not questioning me on this one like you did yesterday. Um, we got a lot coming up in the rest of the show. In case you missed it, 7:00 morning mind dump. That’s coming up next. Tons to get off your your brain this morning. Go ahead. Morning mind dump. Get them in now on the nic law fan talking tech sign. 4146771250. Then we have Andy Herman at 7:20 today. And then we’re going to have at 8:00 Trevor Thomas joining us again giving his thoughts on everything that happened in the NLCS game last night. I have to also point out just really quick before we get out here in the ALCS. Yeah, the Blue Jays tied it up. Yeah, the Blue Jays did everything that we were hoping the Brewers could. Um, anyone who was like, “After 2, it’s over.” The Blue Jays said, “No, we we’re proven. We’re proven right now. It’s definitely possible for it to not be over.” The Brewers just couldn’t do it. They couldn’t be that team. Is Is there anything to, and I hate to say this, but averaging one run a game, is there anything to kind of what I said in the last segment, that they don’t have a difference maker in the lineup who can just hit a home run when you need a home run? And I know you can’t do that in baseball. And I know Yelich was kind of that guy this year, but he wasn’t even I mean 29 home runs is a lot of home runs, but it’s not 44. Sure. Right. It’s not They don’t have power hitters in the middle of their lineup. They just That’s the thing. They haven’t been that team. And I did say at the beginning of the postseason that you need that, right? Right. Because the pitchers are that much better. You need to have a guy that can swing and hit it out of the yard when that pitcher makes a mistake. I was told that this Brewers team is different and they can do things different. I’m still waiting for things to be different. Yeah, for this Brewers team. All right, coming up next, morning mind dump. Get them in right now. 4146771250 is the Nicollay Law Fan talking text line. I’m Josh. That’s Mitch. And we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. [Music] Caleb Durban is the last hope for Milwaukee in the ninth. Two hits and a walk. Got him. Ball game. The Dodgers win it. Sasaki closes the door. Los Angeles wins it 3 to one. They are 8 and one in this postseason. Steam rolling their way through this playoff run. Yeah, they sure are. Ba, they sure are. Brewers fall in game three to the LA Dodgers in LA 3 to one. We’re talking about it. We’re venting about it. We’re getting our feelings out. You guys have already been doing that on the niclay law fan talk and text line bright and early this morning. Be a part of the show 4146771250. You can of course also watch us live on YouTube. Follow us on Twitter on air Josh and Thunder MK for Mitch which Josh and Mitch that’s both of us. We’re live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. And this segment is the morning mind. This is where we get it all off our chest. You had your coffee. You woke up. You stretched it out. Now you just got to you got to you got to get it out. Got to get it out so you can enjoy your day. And there’s a lot there’s a lot to get out if you’re going to enjoy your day because uh of just how frustrating game three was. After games one and two of the NLCS, we kept waiting and hoping and holding on to something. Yeah. That this Brewers team might be able to provide and it hasn’t. It hasn’t happened. It hasn’t happened. And now they are one game away from elimination and a sweep by the hands of the LA Dodgers. Uh it is um yeah I I feel like I have no energy and no words this morning. I’m just I’m bummed. I feel bad. I feel bad for everybody. Like I feel bad for the guys even the guys who are start like I feel badly for Christian Yelich because you know who wants to play better baseball right now? Christian Yelich. You know who wants to be hitting doubles all over the field and going the opposite way? Christian Yelich. Bill Contr. You know who wants to be healthy? Jackson Shurio. Um, you know who wants to pitch shutout innings and Aaron Ashby. Like they they all want to be succeeding. And you know who wants to make every right decision? Pat Murphy. Like he wants to make every right decision every time that’s best for his players, his team, and gives his team the best chance to win. And it’s just not coming together right now for any of them lit except for the Miz. Ex Miz Miz is who it’s coming and and and I started the show by saying I got to say something positive. Uh Miz if this is him and if this is who the Brewers have for the next six years before he goes to the Yankees or Dodgers or whatever baseball looks like in six years, I’ll take this Miz because he is special. He is awesome. I know he had a bumpy road the first year. Um, but if this is him and he has an off seasonason to get stronger uh and to get uh mentally and physically tougher, man, he is going to be special and awesome and I’m here for it. So, that’s my that’s my morning mind dump right there. They as much as we are frustrated and upset and angry and sad um so so are they so are they they and and I do feel like they care. I don’t think Kyle Tucker cared. Kyle Tucker was on a last year of his deal with the Cubs. Didn’t care about Chicago. Didn’t care about the Cubs. Totally emblematic of how terrible an organization the Chicago Cubs are. He did not care. I think the Brewers I think they all care. Yeah. I think you’re right. I think you’re right. Um, that’s what I got for you. Hi, Josh. Hi, buddy. Did that feel good? You feel a little bit better? Yeah, it did feel good. And I know we got a bunch of stuff. I’ll get to the YouTube stuff. You get to the text club. Yeah, I’m going to get to the Nicole Law fan talking text line uh and some of the morning mind dumps from all of you listening out there. Jason in Win Lake says they need to make built for October shirts. That’ll do it. Oh yeah. Oh, that’s a that’s a fun level right there. Way harsh tie. harsh tie. I I I like it. I like it. Um, let’s see. 414 said, “Why can’t the Brewers ever pay quote one of our own unquote great players? If we had signed Adamus there, uh, there’s the bat we needed to be competitive in the series.” We let Adamus’s bat leave and put Ortiz’s bat in the lineup. Not great. Um, I can Well, do you want to do you want to start by with the TV money? Is that where you want to start? Listen, this team, this Brewers team has to be different. They have to do things different. They don’t have the money to pay these players. That’s the whole thing with the salary cap. My whole argument against people that said, “Hey, well, there’s a chance that maybe they get a salary cap if the Brewers lose this series and then baseball will change, blah blah blah blah blah.” No, that’s not happening. It’s not happening. It’s it’s wishful thinking. The the Brewers are one of a few small market teams that have to just play differently, and they have. That’s why he’s been so impressive with these bites of the apple, etc. That being said, uh then we go to Louis Thomas is really good, but I don’t know he that he cures everything. He did have 30 home runs this year, but only 87 RBI. He did strike out 179 times. Uh his OPS was 740, which is barely above league average. There you go. So for to think that Willie Donis couldn’t go through a fivegame stretch where he just strikes out every single time, absolutely could. He could have been right in there with everyone else. This Dodgers pitching too and then we would have just been mad at him. 612 Bob in Minneapolis says, “No, this proves that the bites of the apple will never win a World Series. Luck is an excuse.” Um, if you think that luck is an excuse, you have to you can’t go against the bites of the apple. That’s the whole point is that you get yourself there. If you give yourself the opportunity in the postseason, then you’re giving yourself that bite of the apple, that that opportunity to get lucky and be hot at the right time. Or are you content to just make the postseason and lose in the postseason because you the bite of the apple’s getting to the postseason, but then you need a better apple in the postseason and someone else is always going to have a better apple than the Brewers have. It’s true. Jose from Tossa writes in on the YouTube channel. The Brewers tied the record held by the 1906 White Socks. Nicknamed the Hitless Wonders by only managing nine hits through the first three games of a postseason series. That’s bad. Yikes. He says, and then he says it’s not the pitching. No, that’s what I’m saying. It’s not the pitching. More people I think that’s I think more and more people are starting to say that. Kirsten again from Green Bay says, “The return dancing with no music is so epic.” Uh, for those of you who are on YouTube, we don’t play our music on YouTube because you can’t uh you can’t what what’s monet you can’t monetize your YouTube channel if you’re playing music. Um, so the music you just get in trouble period, right? The music that we play on the radio is not going on YouTube. Um, so you just get to see us dancing. Still sing and dance. Yeah, that’s it. So, so just you know, Q says, “Happy Friday.” Happy Friday. You just had to dunk. I mean, or at least it is Friday. It’s Friday. Ryan from the Wood says, “The series is not over, but it’s over. The defeat on the Brewers faces they showed around the eighth inning is all I needed to see. Bottom line, our talent and play are not matching that of the Dodgers.” Listen, I I agree with you, Ryan, and I said I said this is what future Hall of Famers do. future Hall of Famers find a way to flip that switch and just play better when they need to to find that clutch gene. It’s just not that easy though. My bigger thing is that it’s it all goes back to the hitting. It doesn’t matter how the the Brewers pitching held future Hall of Famers at least in two games to manageable runs. Yeah. I mean, how many times after games did Pat Murphy say, “If you would have told me that we only allowed two runs and we only allowed three runs and that we we lost these games, you know, I wouldn’t have believed you, right?” He’s admitting our bats aren’t there. They haven’t been there. That’s what the problem was. Q says, “Josh, that is such crap. Stop defending this cheap owner. They had the biggest merchandise sales season in team history, according to your guest last week. Marcus profit first onfield success never.” um the biggest merchandise sales season ever doesn’t come close to making up a $300 million gap in TV contracts uh between the local contracts here in Milwaukee and what the big market teams are getting. So, yes, it’s nice that they probably made $10 million more in merch than they ever had before, but when LA again is getting $330 million for their local TV contract and the Brewers are getting 30 million, that’s not a gap that can be made up by selling seven more t-shirts. Correct. There’s there’s no comparison. Nice hat, by the way. There. Thank you. I got I got this for free. Oh, did you? Yeah. Well, people don’t know on the radio what you’re talking It’s the Giannis uh Brewers giveaway jersey from two, three seasons ago. Yeah, Luke. Two two three uh 67 the 92. If there was a salary cap, it’d be a hell of a lot easier for a team like the Brewers that don’t have to face a pitcher making more than the entire pitching playoff roster every game. Yes. Again, I understand that it doesn’t stop the fact that the Brewers could not score runs. It was not that narrative only exists if the Brewers are losing these games 8 to7 and it’s and it’s we’re still hitting out of our minds. Yeah. If we’re scoring one run, it doesn’t matter how we pitched period. 414 said can’t go in with bullpens against the Dodgers. Really? Because we did and we did all right on the mound. Right. The the pitching the p the I I do believe that the pitching is an issue. because I believe that the power of friendship and the way this team is constructed, everything affects everything. And I I do believe that. So, I do believe Woodruff’s injury affects the hitters. I do believe seeing Ashby give up a run in the first inning affects the hitters, but at the end of the day, one run per game in the NLCS is not going to win baseball games. So yes, I do believe that it that all these things are interrelated. I really do. Yeah. Because in an ecosystem of 25 guys, everything affects everything. But at the end of the day, you can’t blame the pitching and Murf’s weirdness on who’s pitching when. Like he told us before game two that Canana was going to pitch game three, maybe even game two. Guess what? He didn’t pitch either. No. And he You know what? Gett is going to pitch a nine inning shutout tonight. Oh, is he? Yeah. Yeah, he is. Josh, he is. Wouldn’t it be ironic if they gave up one run and they got swept and they lost the game one to zero? Uh, I don’t think that would be ironic. That would be like it’d be laughable. Devastating. I would cry in the 414 says, “I agree with Mitch from earlier.” Hey, look at No, that that cannot be. No one agrees. He does. He says that that Mitch guy’s an idiot. He said it’s Murf. There’s regular season Murf and playoff Murf. When Ortiz wasn’t playing well, he sat him. Yelich is playing is uh isn’t playing well. Sit him. They should have sat him down a long time ago. Regular season Yelich and playoff Yelich. There’s a lot of young hungry players on the Brewers. Play him. Um that is the question. That is a question I of of I think it’s a lot harder to make that decision to sit someone when it’s the LCS in comparison to the middle of a regular season. Um especially when it’s your star player and and like you said Mitch what what is what is Murf supposed to say? What is Murf He goes out there. He says he’s going to figure it out. Y’ll figure it out. What is he supposed to say? Yeah, I know, right? What’s going on with that guy? That guy stinks. Yeah, man. I almost wish we didn’t have him. Like, what what do you want him to say? No. Zach writes in, “Offence has been brutal, but I have no idea what Murphy is doing. Why managers overthink things in the playoffs is beyond me. Why change what worked? Dance with the one that br you.” And I hear that, but they’re just not dancing right now. Like, you can dance with the one that br you, but they brought you and they’re not dancing. So, I’ll dance with them, but they’re not dancing back with me. It’s kind of like when we dance to no music on YouTube. It’s almost exactly the same. It’s totally the same. 92 said, “I’m going to chime in here. A few minutes ago, you guys were talking about, and this was you, Mitch, you said the eight players versus nine and saying that Joey is not performing.” It’s very true. Now, we’re talking about Yelich. Um, that’s two players the team is not hitting. Don’t say eight versus nine and blame Joey. It’s the team. I’m just like you guys. Love the show. I wear the bee. Uh or I wear the Brewer blue all the time. Very frustrating, by the way. Oh, uh Josh, he wants to let me know he had a 700 series last night. Hey, good bowling. Nice. That’s good, right? Yeah. I don’t know math, but that’s good. All right, I got to read this real quick. Go ahead. Give me one second. My friend Gabe All right. I I was roommates with him sophomore year in college. Um he bonafi like every I watched um one of the Packers Cowboys losses at his house where after the Packers lost he went catatonic for 45 minutes just sat on his couch not moving his mom started yelling at him because he had like a group of guys over and he just wouldn’t move from the couch huge huge fan always goes negative he sent screenshots of his emails from past seasons to me today to read on the air you ready for this Josh okay this is from 2021 won. Um, what a complete and utter collapse. Yelich is a bonafide bum, but this series was a total team effort at being as bad as possible. From council to Adamus to Garcia to the bullpen. No one did their job well. It’s amazing how they just ceased to be a good team after the series in September. What a waste of a year. That was from 21. Now from 2023. Oh my gosh. Pathetic. Six months and 92 wins and this is how you play at home in the playoffs. I don’t care who comes back next year. It’s not like any of them produce when it counts. Okay, that’s from 2023. From 2024, it’s pathetic. Two outs away. Our all-star closer fails again. This franchise will never win a World Series. Snake bitten cheap and choke artists. Wow. That’s 2021, 2023, 2024. And from this year, he says, uh, you know, he just says he’s just he’s just mad. He’s just mad. I mean, no. I I need him to come I need him to come with some heat. Yeah. Keep this going. Come on, Gabe. Uh Nick and Westb says, “Before yesterday, the Brewers had 14 hits over their past four games. Worst stretch in franchise history.” And by the way, Yelli is now what? One for 21. The Brewers should refund fans their ticket money. Well, if they did that, Nick, they’d have less money to spend on players to make the team better. Do you ever think of that? Your logic is logicing, Josh, and I don’t like logic today. I want just emotion. Mark and Eagle, uh, Mark and Eagle says, “I’m trying not to be the guy that doesn’t give credit to the opponent, but I feel like there have been pitches to hit and the Brewers have just missed them. I think I feel like Thunder. I’m not mad anymore. I’ve accepted our fate. I feel bad for the players that are trying as hard as they can. They’re all They’re all trying, right? No one isn’t trying. They built the team to be uh contrarians and win with small ball. They have actually proved that you need to hit home runs to win in the postseason. Um you know, the the Dodgers had three runs last night. Did they have a home run in that last night? They did not have home. Oh, they did not have home. Yeah. No, they did not have homer. Uh Mary writes in on YouTube channel, “The sun came up in Georgia, guys.” GA I assume GA is Georgia. Georgia, Wisconsin. Uh, or is there like a garden acres Wisconsin? I don’t know. I think it’s Georgia. Um, I think they put all their energy in the winning streak and into game five. Murf smiling at the start of the presser didn’t sit well with me. Start the bench and let them get playoff experience. Oh, wow. You wanted to clear the bench. Yeah. And and that’s the white flag. Monasterio. Yep. Collins. Um, I don’t know who I mean, Danny Jansen’s a veteran, so you don’t have to start him. You want You want to know what I’d like, Mitch? Um, h I’m gonna go with a fudgle. Uh, no. I would love a fudgle. I’m sure you would. So delicious. Um, I would like them to put out the same lineup that they did in one, two, and five of the NLDS. I know this is the first time I’m mentioning that today. Um, but they still haven’t done it. You know what this reminds me of? This reminds me of after the Bucks won the championship with Holiday and Giannis. and Middleton and those big three and then because of injuries and other things and then they traded Drew and I sat there going those three never fully got another shot. That’s true. To prove that they could do it again and never would and frankly this lineup and frankly never would have as we saw from what Middleton and Giannis ended up doing. Correct. It never it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway because Middleton and Dame and Giannis never got to play together either. True. So, like I don’t know, but specifically those three that won the championship, I wanted them to get another shot to prove, right? Hey, as long as these three are together, you’re fine. Hey, as long as that lineup’s in, we can win. And you said there’s a 100% chance it’s not going to happen. And guess what? Didn’t happen. Did not happen. I’m not saying I don’t know how the magic works, but maybe it needed to be that lineup. All I know is it wasn’t. Hey, I want to make sure that everyone knows after this program, there’s one called 9 to Noon with Yes. At 10:00 a.m. today, they’re going to have Wayne Laravey on the show. Yeah. Wayne Laravey is going to join him. You’re not going to want to miss that. Stay with me. There is. That’s his line. Oh, we can’t say it. I don’t know. I Do you have money to pay him royalties? He’s not Michael Buffer. Oh, let’s get ready to No, don’t do it. Give me toilet. Also, uh, you can make sure today to see the guy talking right there, Mitch Thunderellis. Yes. On the Mason Crosby Show, they’re going to be broadcasting on the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network live from the uh, Verizon store on West Blummont Road in Brookfield. I will be there from noon to 2. Yeah. On top of that, Packers legend Clay Matthews is going to stop by for his meet and greet, be a part of the show, and then he has a meet and greet at 2. Verizon is hooking you up with an amazing afternoon. Plus, they’ll have some awesome giveaways just for stopping by and saying hello. It all happens today at the Verizon store in Brookfield on West Bloom Road. Come see the Mason Crosby Show with Mitch Thunder Nellis, who’s right there. My phone on YouTube because I have Verizon. And you can also say hi to Clay Matthews because he will be there. All right, coming up next, we’re going to talk to our friend Andy Herman from Packad Podcast. Absolute best. Can’t wait to ask him about his feelings on the Brewers. Not gonna be happy. No, we’re also gonna talk some football because now it’s time. And now it’s time to to talk about the Packers. Uh even though there will be another Brewer game this evening. Andy Herman Packad Day podcast is coming up next. Stay tuned for that. I’m Josh Alrech. That’s Mitch Thunderellis. And we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. Why are you playing my song? For those of you on YouTube, we’re playing Thunder Struck right now. Andy Herman, I don’t even know if you can hear the music, but I cannot. Struck is just in our regular bump rotation. It’s in the bag of bumps, man. I feel like it shouldn’t be in the bag of bumps when I’m here. Why? because it’s literally one of my theme songs. Yes. So, I feel like it should be there when you’re here. What should Andy Herman’s theme song be? That’s what I want to know. I’ll tell you this. Maybe we’ll ask him. I’m Josh Alrech and that is Mitch Thunder Nellis. Hi, Josh. And we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatam Sportsbook. Make sure to uh follow us on Twitter. I’m on air Josh. Mitch is thunder MK. And you can be watching us on YouTube. And if you are, you’d see our next guest here, uh, who is on the fan guest hotline powered by Gruber Law, one call, that’s all. And his name is Andy Herman. You can follow him on Twitter at Andy Herman NFL and of course, Packad Podcast, which he does. Welcome, Andy Herman. How are you, my friend, fellas? I am fantastic. I’m actually I’m going to hijack the show for a sec. I have a question for you guys. Mitch, you’ve got you’ve got Klay Matthews coming on, right? Why? Why is Klay Matthews not a more revered Green Bay Packer? This is a Super Bowl champion. A first team AllP Pro, a second team AllP Pro, a six-time Pro Bowl, Buckus Award winner, Packers Hall of Famer, threetime Rose Bowl champion, 91.5 career sacks, 86th most in NFL history, has a unbelievable Super Bowl defining moment in that 2010 Super Bowl. Played all but one year in Green Bay. And again, I I would argue that it’s basically like a legendary Packers career. I don’t feel like he kind of gets that status sometimes. I’m always confused by it. I think he’s a Andy, I’m going to answer I’m let Josh go. I’m going to answer your question with a question. Oh, what makes you think he’s not revered? Who Who is talking down about Clay Matthews in the state of Wisconsin? N talking down. I think enough, right? Who’s not talking him up? Yeah. Every I don’t feel like every I don’t feel like Klay gets his flowers the way that other Packers legends get his flowers. like you don’t ever really like see him. I don’t know. He did do the draft thing which was awesome. That was the first time where I felt like all right that that was a awesome moment for Clay. I don’t know. I just feel like he doesn’t quite get the the respect and and uh you know reverence that he deserves. Well, maybe maybe he’s got to be here more. I have a theory and you just touched on it, Josh. All right. Um, so Andy, we I I often said that the difference between Brett Favre and Aaron Rogers was that while we gathered every Sunday to watch Aaron Rogers and that was amazing and he was great while he was a Packer, it felt like we watched the game with Brett Favre on our couch every Sunday when Brett Favre was a member of the Green Bay Packers. and Brett Favre and his whole gang of guys and then Rogers and his whole gang of wide receivers. I would argue they all embraced Green Bay and embraced Wisconsin in a way that it feels like Clay Matthews never quite did. I don’t know if it’s the SoCal hair or attitude or whatever it was. I don’t know if he was around in the offseason or not. you know that better than I do. But but I I just get the feeling that he never embraced Wisconsin in a way that so many of our athletes that Giannis has, that Yell has, that even Braun did, even through some of his issues, that so many Green Bay Packers did, who weren’t from here, that it just seems like Klay Matthews never became one of us, and so we never fully accepted him into the family. is that and I might I could be wrong. Like maybe he tried, but I feel like he always just had a little edge to him that wasn’t quite I’m one of you. It was always like I’m me. I’ve got my attitude. I will abide you plebeians and you idiots in flyover country. But but I’m never going to be one of you. Don’t put don’t put words in his mouth. Right. Do you think Charles Woodson was ever all in on Green Bay, though? But it feels like he I mean Charles was better than Clay. Uh Charles was better than Clay and and he wasn’t a lifelong Packer. Like there’s nothing to hold against Charles Watson cuz he came in and won a Super Bowl. Like he and like and yes, even doing that was more seemed more invested in learning about the community, being a part of it, whatever that might be. Listen, he left the Packers in 2018. Klay Matthews did. Yeah. Okay. It’s 2025. I I mean, listen, there there are new players. There are new people that Packers fans are focusing on and talking about. If you’re not showing up here, if you’re not in the news doing something in Green Bay, I might not be talking about you. It’s not that I’m mad at you. It’s not the fact that I think you were a bad player. It’s not that I’m not trying to give you your flowers, but I’m just saying, you know, when I see Charles Woodson uh doing a a pumpup, you know, video that they’re showing at Lambo, I’m thinking about Charles Woodson. it. If I’m not seeing Klay Matthews’s face anywhere on anything, doing something, I might not be thinking of him. It’s not that I’m not reveling in what he did. I’m just, you know, I got something else top of mind. That’s I don’t know. Hopefully hopefully Mitch can ask him today. Mitch say. Yeah. Yeah. That’s that’s the first thing I’m going to ask. Yes. Hey, do you think enough people are putting respect on your name? Uh Gabe in North Carolina, who is a Wisconsin native, says uh Packers fans love Clay. So if Gabe up Yeah. then that’s then that’s how it goes. Andy. Uh, yeah. Hi Andy. Hi Andy. Hello. Sorry to hijack. Are you okay after uh the Brewers game last night? There is a large difference in losing when you can see it coming from a a ways away and like last year’s Met series where as Bob Uker so perfectly said, that one had some sting on it, right? There’s a large difference between just getting your you know what handed to you for three games and having your heart ripped out like a 2014 Seahawks game or even the last time the Brewers and Dodgers played in the NLCS where everything was super competitive and you felt like this is the chance to go to the World Series and you have your heart ripped out um at the end of that series. This one has just been an absolute annihilation through three games. So, it’s not that that feels great. It’s really disappointing. It’s super underwhelming. It’s really frustrating. It sometimes, I think, makes you question a little bit more of like wh why am I going through 162 games in a playoffs just to ultimately get to a place where you face a team where you had probably zero chance against anyway. I think it’s demoralizing in that way. But, um, yesterday was so much more of an easier watch in a way because you could sort of see it coming from a mile away than some of those other playoff series that I mentioned where you’re just literally getting your heart ripped out in real time. So maybe that’s a way to Yeah, I don’t know that interesting. I’m I’m I I like that. That’s your point of view. I don’t know that I could look at it that way because I was too busy focusing on everything this Brewers team did all year that made them different. Breaking records, beating team streak, having the most wins in the regular season, beating the Cubs in five, going in with all that motivated, you know, energy, and then crap in the bed. It it don’t get me wrong too like the first two series the first two games especially game one definitely had that like heart like it ripped your heart out especially when you had the ending the way that it did like cuz you you went into that series feeling like this is going to be different. This is their year. This this does have a chance. I just think by the time I got to game three last night I kind of already felt like I was holding out hope. I really was trying to stay as optimistic as possible. If ever there was a Brewers team that I thought could come down from O2 and maybe make some magic happen, it was this one. But I mean, the team can’t hit right now. Their pitchers are uh, you know, just completely worn out. Um, the the the injury to Woodruff is brutal. And then you get the Jackson Cheerio injury on top of it last night. It was just, man, just everything that could possibly go wrong through three games has basically gone wrong. All right. Well, let’s go from bad news to bad news. Uh, Andy Herman here on the power by Guber Law. Um, uh, you want to take us through the injury report if you would? Uh, any any new any any new updates on the offensive line? Uh, I know that Devonte Wyatt did not participate. Lucas Vaness did not part participate from the defensive line. Um, is there any reason for optimism on the Let’s start offensive line. Yeah, I think overall what I will say is I know you look at this this injury report and you see Devonte White, LVN, and Brandon McManus who are not practicing and you see a laundry list of other players that are uh limited or you know even full participants in some way and it’s it’s really easy to get frust if I’m sitting in the middle of the season at any point and there might only be three players that don’t play. Unless one of those is the starting quarterback, I feel like it in a way that’s an acceptable injury report at this point of year. Um, so the fact that, you know, it’s LVN, Devonte Wyatt, both are on the defensive line. You would love to have both of those players. You would obviously love to have Brandon McManus. You don’t want to ever have to go in with a backup kicker, even if the kicker went five for five a week ago. Those are concerning, but I feel like if you’re playing injury roulette and you only have to spin the wheel three times and you get, you know, a backup defensive end, a starting defensive tackle, and a kicker, that’s kind of an acceptable outcome on October 17th of an NFL season. I think you also have some level of optimism that Zack Tom was able to practice yesterday. Uh Aaron Banks continues to practice, Anthony Belton has practiced. Um, and so that offensive line looks like it it might be able to go out there and actually have back-to-back games where you’ve got the same starters out there and have depth in Shawn Ryan and Anthony Belton. So, there’s some optimism there as well. And and there could be the possibility that we get our first Christian Watson experience this Sunday as well. So, I think there is some optimism report. Interesting. What What percentage would would you put that at, Andy? I think it’s a true coin flip right now. Honestly, I I here’s here’s where I’m at. I think Christian Watson was like ready to play like week one. I think if you would have asked him, could you play week one, he would have like, yeah, I can play week one. If it was a playoff game, he would he would have been ready. Yeah, potentially. I think that that maybe would have been a more interesting, you know, situation. I think the Packers I mean, we’ve heard Matt Laflur. He’s like, he looks incredible. He’s like like Matt Laflur is like waxing poetic about how awesome Christian Watson has looked so far. I think everyone looks at it and is like, man, this guy looks 100% ready to play. He’s raring to go. He’s And then I think they just look at the injury timeline and they’re like, he’s not supposed to be this ready yet. And we just like the last thing we want. The last time Christian Watson hit the field, he got hurt when they brought him back probably too early. Not probably, they brought him back too early, right? So I think everyone wants to avoid a situation where he’s ahead of schedule. They bring him back and all of a sudden he has another injury. Even if it’s not related, it’s just like, oh my god, do we bring him back too early again? So I think everyone’s using an abundance of caution, but I think he’s ready to go. I think it’ll be a really interesting decision. I think he might go and maybe play like 10 to 12 snaps in this one and that might be okay. I don’t feel like the focus right now going into this game is on the wide receiving core. I think, you know, it’s still of of all of the different narratives you can have with this Packers team and analysis going into this game against the Cardinals. I don’t know that the wide receiving core is the one that you’re focusing on. I wanted to know um did you see or hear the comments from Micah Parsons uh on the refs and you know what what he had said there and I wanted to get your thoughts on those comments. Yeah, I did. I think he’s spot on. I think I think NFL officiating is always in a tough spot, you know, with what they’re emphasizing, what they’re not emphasizing. I do think, you know, some of the false start penalties by offensive linemen. I think those are bang bang plays in real time. You slow it down, you can see obviously some of those offensive linemen are clearly moving early. Guess what? Green Bay is usually pretty good at that as well. David Baktiari was a legend at doing that and and and jumping the the snap count exactly on time. Um or maybe just a smidge early. I do I mean I think his his argument of like what they’re calling defensive offsides every time it’s like well yeah you’re like literally in the neutral zone almost touching the player sometimes. That one I have less of an issue with overall. I think some of the offensive defensive pass interference and some of like the targeting for offensive players absolutely is something that the NFL needs to be a bit better at. And I just think the the thing with Micah when it comes to the holding penalties is I get he seems to be an unstoppable force sometimes and it almost feels unfair if you’re going to call holding penalty on every single play, but at some point on the plays where it’s egregious when you can see him getting tackled on the play. I mean, you’ve got to call. I will say this, um, in the Dallas game specifically, he got held on multiple occasions. Green Bay’s offensive lineman also got away with a lot of holding penalties in that game. In this last game, there was a Rasheed Walker play where he did basically did almost the same thing where he tackled the player similar to the ones that we’re showing with Micah Parsons. Rasheed Walker got away with holding on that play. So, I’m not saying it’s equal. I’m not saying it’s apples to apples. I would honestly, it’s just like the the pitch the the the you know, balls and strikes in baseball. Yeah, that that pitch last night in a key moment uh where Freddy Freeman it’s a clear strike in the top of the zone and they call it a ball. I would like that to be called a strike. Guess what? The ones that the Brewers got in their favor, too. I would like those to be called the correct way as well. I just wish it was a little bit more consistent and right now in NFL and in Major League Baseball, unfortunately, it’s not. Andy Herman Packaday podcast joining us here on uh the fan. Uh Mitch Nelson, Josh Alrech with you. Um so going into Arizona, um do we know who’s playing quarterback for Arizona? Does it matter? And uh as we saw the Steelers clearly looking ahead uh past the Bengals to the big Sunday night matchup. How did the Packers avoid that? Yeah, I I think the first of all the Bengals only winning by nine thing looks a little bit different after last night for sure. Uh the second thing is yeah, that is going to be a fun game with Pittsburgh coming up. It’s always unfortunate when the other team gets a little bit of a rest advantage, but it is what it is. You deal with it. And then yeah, I think from a quarterback standpoint, it seems like this is leaning Jacobe Brassette, but I think the Cardinals have done a really good job of holding their cards close to the vest and making it so that Green Bay can’t read it. And while I don’t think it should matter ultimately of who’s starting in this game that Green Bay is going to be, you know, the favorites and should win either way, I think the one thing that does make this more challenging is this is not a situation where like in San Francisco for example, you’ve got Brock Pury and M. Jones. They’re going to run pretty much the exact same offense whether or not it’s Brock Pury or M. Jones in Arizona. The Kyler Murray and Jacobe Brassette experience is two totally different experiences and you have to sort of, you know, defend now against are you a mobile roll out super speedy laser rocket arm quarterback or are you going against more of a pocket passer who’s got a little bit longer of a windup um and is just again a totally different player that doesn’t have the the running ability that Kyler does. So, I think they’re the the fact that they have to prepare for two very different types of quarterbacks, I think makes it definitely a unique challenge. I think Green Bay is going to be up to it. I think they go into Arizona. I think there’s going to be a lot of Packers fans there. I think they take care of business and set up a really really fun matchup with Aaron Rogers against the Packers next week in in Pittsburgh. Well, we sure hope that it goes exactly that way uh this weekend as the Packers take on the Cardinals. Thank you so much, Andy Herman from Packaday Podcast for joining us today. We look forward to talking to you hopefully about a Packers victory next week. Talk to you guys on victory Monday. Good stuff, Andy. You’re you’re the absolute best. All right. Appreciate you. That’s Andy Herman. You can follow him on Twitter at Andy Herman NFL and of course Pack a Day podcast. All right, coming up next. It’s uh it’s an absolutely incredible story. I can’t believe that it is a real thing. I’m so excited. We all talked about what happens if the Brewers lose game three. One texted in yesterday on the Niclay Law Fan Talk text line and said, “Well, if the Brewers lose this game, I’m going to end up watching reruns of Sewing with Nancy.” Boy, do we have an update for you there. Stay tuned. You are not going to want to miss this. My name is Josh Albert. That’s Mitch Dunder Nellis and we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. [Music] Did you send me that audio? Yeah, it’s in. I see you there. Lawyers of trust lawen. every help. How much you love? all over Wisconsin anytime, anywhere with the free Odyssey app. All our shows, Reviews power. So, you probably didn’t see it. Hey, it’s Josh Alrech and Mitch Nellis. How you doing, bud? I just didn’t know if you were going to turn your mic on or I was eventually. I was going to let it get three more seconds in to where it just calms down, cools down right there a little bit. But as you said, yes, I’m Josh. That’s Mitch. We’re live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podwani Sportsbook. Make sure to follow us on Twitter. I’m on air. Josh Mitch is thundermka. You could be watching us live on YouTube right now as well. Be a part of the conversation. Nic on the nickel lawf which is 4146771250. Make sure to tune in next segment as well as our friend Trevor Thomas will be back as well. You’re not going to want to miss that. Get Trevor’s thoughts on everything. But right now, I’m very excited. Who’s anonymous on Twitter? Uh, I don’t know. Weird. Listen, uh, we gota we got to talk about this. If you miss a show yesterday, okay, we had someone texted into the show and said, “If the Brewers don’t win tonight being game three, yeah, I it’s over. I’m not even watching game four. I’m going to watch reruns of Sewing with Nancy.” Sewing with Nancy. Didn’t even know what that was. I asked Mitch. Mitch also doesn’t know what that is. What are we talking about? They said it’s on PBS, right? It was only on for 35 years. Based out of Wisconsin. M Mitch immediately goes to the interwebs and Wikipedia. We find out all this information on Sewing with Nancy from Beaver Dam. Okay. It’s a It’s an actual show. People are texting. They’re going, “Yeah, Sewing with Nancy. It was on PBS. We’re making jokes about following.” So Sewing with Nancy is going to be Auto Parts with Pat. It was a lot of fun. I thought, “Okay, but that’s the end. That’s the end of this auto parts with Pat, by the way.” Oh, 100%. I thought, “Okay, that was fun. That was a fun joke. That’s got to be it.” I get a text from Mitch yesterday and it says, “Can you call me?” Yes. So, and I immediately went, “Uh oh, what’s going on? Something something has to be up for him to say that.” I call him and this is what Mitch said. So, I get home from work yesterday and almost every day when I get home from work, Mrs. Thunder and I make plans either lunch and or walk and or lunch. Very cute. Adorable. So, so yesterday it was we walked after lunch. So, we had lunch together. Then we’re on a walk and I’m telling Mrs. Thunder about what we talked about that like oh you know this sewing with Nancy thing. She’s like you know I was on Sewing with Nancy and I’m like wait like I froze like what are you talking about? She’s like yeah yeah. So Mrs. Thunder in a past life was the director of education for the Jewish Museum Milwaukee and they did a whole exhibit um where they made had dresses made of a seamstress uh who unfortunately perished in the Holocaust and and they and so because they made these dresses she was they were asked to be on sewing with Nancy and so in uh Nancy passed away as we know in 2017. Yeah, as we all know in 2014 Mrs. Thunder was on um and there’s like a six minute she was like on NY’s Corner. Yeah, of course. Staple of the show. Right. Right. Um and so I edited like the the the intro and the outro. So 30 seconds of it. So here we go. You can find it on pbs.org. Today’s NY’s Corner guest showcases the legacy and life of a fashion designer in Prague who along with her husband tried to escape the onslaught of Nazi Germany in 1939. but their memory lives on in a letter, fashion sketches, and a museum exhibit that honors the stitching history from the Holocaust. Please welcome Ellie Ginger from the Jewish Museum Milwaukee. Good to see you, Ellie. Thanks for having me. Well, what a great way to honor a legacy and to honor HDI and tell a story. And this exhibit will travel and perhaps some of our viewers will see it in different cities. We would love that. Well, thanks for joining me, Ellie. I appreciate it. And thank you for watching Sewing with Nancy. Is that not insane? Yes. That Mrs. Thunder uh 11 years ago on an episode of Sewing with Nancy. Now, here’s the As you tell me this, by the way, via Skype. She was on not via Zoom. Zoom wasn’t a thing yet. Via Skype. Were you married to Mrs. Thunder at the time? Okay, that’s even more crazy. You need to understand, people, this sewing with Nancy thing came out of nowhere. Someone just texted it. It started this whole thing to then lead to the fact that Mitch’s wife who he was married to at the time was on that show. And Mitch didn’t even know what the show was yesterday. We had a four-year-old and a one-year-old at the time. And so we’re walking yesterday and she was like, “Amazing.” She was like, “How’d you like you don’t remember that or anything?” I’m like, “Well, I didn’t know you really well back then.” I said that to her. I know we were married, but I didn’t really know. We have two kids already. Oh my god. 12. Yeah. Incredible. Just a random guy texts in about some random PBS show that he’s going to watch tonight, by the way, reruns of because he doesn’t want to watch game four of the NLCS and see the Brewers potentially get swept. And it turns out that Mitch’s wife was literally on that show. TV star Ellie Gettinger, aka Mrs. Thunder. Insane, man. Small world, crazy world. Insane. Um, fantastic. I just I couldn’t I couldn’t believe that. And I felt like if we don’t let people know that we’re that’s a disservice because that is the most crazy I can’t believe it example situation whatever you want to say uh that I could think of. So you never know what you text in on the Nico Law fan talking text line what that could lead to. It led to us not only learning about Sewing with Nancy but that Mrs. Thunder was on Sewing with Nancy. Absolutely incredible. Um real quick before we get to uh the top of the hour. Yes. Uh the LA Dodgers in early September, Yamamoto was one pitch away from throwing a no hitter. They ended up losing that game to the Baltimore Orioles. Okay. Since then, they’re 23 and six. Okay. So, so it’s not just the Brewers that they have dominated. No, no, it’s it’s everybody. And it’s been everybody this postseason as well. Listen, we have Trevor Thomas coming up next at the top of the hour. And Trevor, he literally said yesterday he was like, I need to bring some optimism to this show. And then he ended his night with a tweet that said, “I am not well.” I am very interested optimist and it’s not working well for him. I’m very interested to see which Trevor Thomas we get this morning. On the show, what Trevor Thomas is going to join us, we will find out soon enough. We want you to be a part of our conversations as well on the Niclay Law Fan Talk text line, which of course is 414-6771250. You guys have been doing uh incredible all day. I’m still looking for an answer by the way on my question of what this Brewers organization needs to do differently to get over that hump. Let me know there as well. I am Josh Alrech. That is Mitch Thunderellis and we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Network Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. Okay. particular amazing Oh, what? Hey, wait. Caleb Durban is the last hope for Milwaukee in the ninth. Two hits and a walk. Got him. The Dodgers win it. Sasaki closes the door. Los Angeles wins it 3 to one. They are 8 and one in this postseason. Steam rolling their way through this playoff run. They sure are. They are sure steamrolling their way through not just the Brewers, but the entire postseason run. The Brewers now down three games to zero to the Dodgers in the NLCS. Boy oh boy, not uh a good situation. Not a lot of fun to discuss, but yet plenty to discuss. I’m Josh Alrech. That’s Mitch Thunderellis. We are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sportsbook. Make sure to follow us on Twitter at on air. Josh at ThunderMK. You can make sure to uh watch us on YouTube as well and be a part of the conversation on the Nicollay Law Fan Talking Text Line, which is 414-6771250. And right now, as you can see on the YouTubes, joining us surprising me live in studio this morning in the same studio that I am standing in right now is a 6’8 man who very soon is going to be able to shave his head. The beast incarnate, Trevor Thomas. Hi, buddy. Hi. Good to see you. How are you? It’s so nice to be here in person with you two IRL, baby. In real life. Love it. First time ever. Uh, now I do see that you’re wearing a quarter zip. Do I have to worry about you throwing it out? I’m wearing a quartz zip. Full zip. Oh, it’s a full zip. Okay. So, you’re not going to throw that one out. You’re going to hold on to that. Did you bring one of those for all of us, by the way? Uh, I did not. I see that it’s branded. Uh, it is branded, but this has been branded for a minute. Yeah, we got branding money over there. That’s what that is. Must be nice. We call that a budget. It must be nice. Yeah, it must be nice indeed. Thomas on your side. So Trevor, Brewers are down three games to zero. True story. You came on the show yesterday and you said what? This show needs some optimism. You guys are all in your fields down blah blah blah blah blah blah. I actually didn’t think I was that bad yesterday based on who I am as a fan. That bad. Um and then you texted at the end of the night, I am not well. I’m not well. How are you doing today? You know, I’m optimistic still, but this is painful. Let’s be real. I mean, the bats are apparently non-existent. We’ve we’ve summoned Joe Buu. We’ve offered rum and cigars. Yep. Now, it’s time to for them to just do it themselves. What What is the problem? Listen, the problem is that they went cold and they’ve gone cold a lot in past postseasons. That’s the frustrating thing for me watching this team. It’s not the fact that they are going to get eliminated. Listen, we did our predictions before the start of the postseason. I said that the Brewers were going to lose in five. That’s what I said. But I said that they were going to lose to the Phillies in the in the NLCS. But that was my guess. I said I think in the NLCS that’s where the magical run ends. I also said that they were going to beat the Cubs in five. Up to this point, besides the opponent, I’ve been pretty darn good on the NL side of things. But the way that they lost those three games is what was so frustrating because it wasn’t they played their game and it wasn’t good enough. They’re just not playing their game consistently. Not brewering. They’re not doing what this Brewers team has done to get those 97 wins to get through the NLDS. And it’s been really tough to watch as a fan. I think their confidence is gone. Like really gone. I think you’re right. I don’t I just don’t see them having especially the lefty hitters. I don’t see magic. I don’t see the power of friendship. I don’t see Uker magic or brew magic or all of it. The magic is seemingly gone. That doesn’t mean there’s not a little bit left and that’s all you need in order to make some magic happen. But at the end of the day, this seems really just non Brewerike to your point. And it’s not that they’re not pitching. I mean, I listened to you guys on the way down this morning from Green Bay. They’re pitching. It’s not terrible by any means, right? Which, by the way, if we just pause and notice that for a moment, we have one starter, correct? One. And yet we’re still feel like that’s not enough. Well, but we’re still pitching really well. Yeah, pitching’s not been the problem. It is the hitting. Yeah. And or the lack thereof. Yeah. We don’t have any of them. Or the brewery. You know, you guys were talking about Yelli’s little dribbler on the uh infield last night. I’m not happy with that. That’s not why we’re paying Yelli what we’re paying him. No, but he did that a lot this year, right? He got a lot of those. That led to a lot of next things. That that’s that’s what they did. They’d peck away. They put the ball in play. They would find ways to get on base even if it was a dribbler. So seeing that I gave me hope. It gave me hope this team can go back to not striking out, can have good at bats, put the ball in play, and then make something happen. That’s what the magic of this team was. It wasn’t the long ball. It was finding unique ways to get on base and then making other teams pay for it. And just like with the Cheerio home run, it was like, “Hey, here’s some hope.” And then just squandered the rest of the game. So, in comparison to the regular season though, guys, what changed? Literally, what changed? That’s good. They didn’t they didn’t pace face this Dodgers pitching for 162. Also valid. That’s part of it. Yep. We talked yesterday that it’s not the same team. Here’s the problem. It literally is the same team. No, I understand. Well, no it’s not. No, no, no. Figuratively, I understand that you’re saying it’s not. But literally, these are the same exact No, no, because they’re pitchers. The Dodgers pitchers were not the same. Not the Dodgers. The Brewers. Oh, you’re talking about the Brewers. The Brewers are on the same correct team. Correct. So, what happened? That’s the question. And listen, the the thing is this has happened in the past. This has happened many years. Many bites of that apple, which man, how many more bites can you take of one apple? But that that’s been the frustrating thing. I brought up I think yesterday, might have been today. Sorry, getting the days confused. about Rowdy Tles and how it wasn’t that long ago that we had Corbin Burns and and Woody going and we were like lights out pitching but the only guy that could hit in the lineup was Tles and which didn’t make sense then lineup with Christian Yelch and William. Correct. Correct. And so it was the same thing. Well, the bats went cold. The bats went cold at the wrong time. That’s why when this team was kicking butt in the regular season and I I was cautious and a lot of people got on me when I said I but are they peaking too soon? Are they going to get hot? We they need to get hot at the right time. This is exactly what I was afraid of is that when you get into the postseason and you’re this type of team that can’t rely on a one through nine lineup of guys that could hit and be amazing players on any of the other teams in the MLB, you have to be the hot team. Their bats just went ice cold. Can we pinpoint though what we played in terms of the baseball that’s missing during those streaks this year? 14, 11, and eightgame win streaks. Mhm. I understand that that was when the Woodpeckers were well. Yeah. And they weren’t broken beaks. Yeah. That’s that seemingly left us at the end of that 14game win streak when we lost to the Reds. And then thereafter, I believe we went 20 and 22 over the next 42 or something like that. 500. That’s not terrible baseball. 500. That’s 500 ball. It’s not good enough to beat this Dodgers team in the postseason. Would you all agree though on the offensive side? This is terrible baseball right now. Of course. Yeah. Hitting 197 in the playoffs. That’s what I’m missing. Right. Even in the end of the season, Josh, when you were super worried about the momentum going into the postseason, which I very much appreciated. That team is still even different than this. And yet, it’s the same guys. Well, so here’s the difference that I that I saw, and I brought this up after the game two loss, and I hated that that the thought entered my mind. Actually, as we were losing, as we were leaving the game, I said to you, I know I I’m I don’t want to say it, but I know what the the line’s going to be for tomorrow, and it was was the series against the Cubs our World Series. Yeah, boy. Was that gross last night? I I absolutely hated having that thought, but I’m Listen, after game two, I was like, kind of feels like the team forgot that there was more baseball to play. Well, shame on us then. I mean, that’s we’ve been here before. It’s not like Absolutely. There are teams that have never been here before. Have you ever heard the saying, act like you’ve been here before? Right. When I was in a softball tournament called the Pink Flamingo in Green Bay, my team didn’t win a game for 10 years. Wow. 10 years. You You need a guy. Uh I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m I’m I’m okay, man. If that isn’t No, no, no. I’m better I’m better than Okay. Okay. Yeah. He Well, the year we won though, that first game, I slapped home plate. That was the the winning scoring run and I literally slapped home play. Did you have a foot still on third base and you’re just so long like that was it? He just touches it. No, but literally somebody came up to me and said, “Geez, act like you’ve been here before.” And I looked at him and said, “We haven’t.” Mhm. That’s the problem. That’s why I’m as unoptimistic right now as I’ve been in my maybe life in regards to the Brewers. I’ve always had a lot of hope. I would call that realism. Well, I don’t like it. I don’t like being here. You live here. I’m not a fan. There are cloudy days in realism world space. But that’s the problem. And systematically now I’m worried. Yeah. Like this has been a repetitive nature specific in the Antonasio piece. That ties in Trevor to the question that I’ve had of the day analyzing this team and I did not want to get to this point yet. And I understand they’re still playing baseball tonight. They have not been eliminated. The season is not over. I get all of that. But I I came into the studio this morning and I went, they won 97 games. The last time they were in the NLCS, they won 96 games. The time before that they were in the NLCS, they won 96 games. You You score You win 96 plus games. Yeah. This Brewers team’s making it to the NLCS. Okay. What does this team have to do? What does this organization have to do to get past the NLCS and get back to the World Series? And when Josh brought that up, do you know what I immediately thought of? 10 wins, 10 wins, nine wins, 11 wins, 12 wins, 10 wins. Badger football year after year after year being competitive, winning the Big 10 West, getting to the Big 10 Championship game because the Big 10 West was horrible. Usually losing badly in the Big 10 Championship game. Not always, but sometimes. Still getting to a New Year’s Day bowl, but never in the national championship conversation. Okay. So, what do you do? You fire everybody. you hire a nationally respected coach and everything goes wrong. And we none of us want that to happen with the Bruge. None of us I I don’t think it’ll happen with Murphy, but none of us want a a a um not regime change, but a a mental focus change where we just throw everything that the Brewers have built aside and sign three huge free agents who end up sucking. Like, we’ve seen what the Mets have done. We’ve seen what the Yankees have done over the years. We’ve seen what other franchise, what the Red Sox have done, what some franchises have done that win intermittently, but aren’t consistent winning. We don’t want that to happen. We saw that happen with the Buck, you know, the Bucks as well until the Bucks finally went allin. We saw that with um, you know, you could argue the Packers this year. The Packers never went, you know, no Randy Moss, no Tony Gonzalez, no this player, no that player, no that player. Finally, Micah Parsons. We’ll see what ends up happening for the Packers this year. Um, but there’s you you have to find that balance in Yeah, they won 97. Yeah, they’re they’re consistently really good. How do they get to great without losing their like their personality and we’re not done yet. Adam McKelie last night on Twitter, stop totally saving your line for yourself. Listen to what he said. Uh teams that have fallen behind 3-0 in any best of seven post series have gone on to lose 40 of the 41 times including 31 sweeps. That’s baseball. Yep. In baseball. In baseball. The comeback belongs obviously to the 2004 Red Sox and the ALCS against I get my sweatshirt right now if you want me to. I don’t. It says right here the comeback belongs to Dave Roberts. Yes. Yes. And the 2004 Red Sox. That is correct. He stole the base that ran the place. I understand that this is very unlikely. I’m just not willing to give up hope. We have the rest of the off season to dissect what went wrong. Yeah. Now, what needs to happen tonight? Did Kintana Did we come out and say that he’s pitching tonight? Does it matter? Yes. No. No. It doesn’t matter as much. It matters more about the hitters. That is correct. I noticed something last night in regards to the hitting. Okay. When the guys got on base all season long, they were doing the you can’t see me thing. Yeah, John Cena. When the Dodgers are on a bit of a rally or a run, they’re having fun. They’re energetic. And I told you, Josh, that that’s what I was afraid of with the Cubs team was that they were having fun and they were energetic and they were full of life. Do you see any life from the Brewers dugout right now? Durban. Well, it mean at the plate, but I’m saying like even from the dugout, like they just don’t seem to have the energy, the life, the friendship. If we’re gonna Well, no offense, it’s a little bit difficult. It’s difficult that it’s the same thing as the fans, everyone getting on the fans to be loud and and clap when their team is getting destroyed at home. It’s the same thing with this team. When everyone’s striking out, having terrible at bats, you expect them to go be all jokes and laughter in the dugout and doing the hey, you can’t. No, they’re going. They see us. They definitely see us. Game two at Amfam when we were there felt dead. It was great. That home run was fantastic. But even that was like, okay, like now what now? Uh the 715 on the Nicollay Law fan talking text line, by the way, chiming in saying it’s not as much that the Cubs series was the World Series, but getting past one round was the World Series because that was the Achilles heel that we needed to get past Peter Lonzo as this. I mean, you can keep going. I know, but Peter Lonzo, uh, Corbin Carroll, uh, Charlie Morton and the Braves. I mean, yeah. Yeah. You can you can keep going and going and going and that this was what we needed to get past. The difference for me is this team wasn’t supposed to be like those other teams, right? And it wasn’t. This team wasn’t this team and wins. This team did what was necessary to get 96 plus wins, which has led them to an LCS the three times that they’ve done it since 2011. Okay, that brings me all back to my question of apparently that’s not good enough because in those situations, it’s not good enough to get to the World Series. Correct. Well, is that not what we want? Sure, but a lot of franchises would just want to get and I get we’re not other franchises. I hate when people say that about the Packers. Well, Bears fans will switch play. Yeah, but we’re not Bears fans. We’re Packers fans. So, I’ll strike that from the record. Um, is is 97 wins and a loss in the LCS good enough? No. Ever. No. Okay. Anymore? The answer is anymore. Okay. We in 2008 when the Brewers made it back to the playoffs, that was good enough at that moment. Absolutely. Sure. Yeah. Same thing with the Packers. How many wins did they have that season? don’t care. No, but that’s got 104. That’s my point. This team didn’t just win the division, right? Okay, they were the best team in baseball. They had over 96 wins. Looking at this team since 2011 when they’ve done that, they have gotten to this point. Okay. So, I want to know that’s a consistent. They’re getting to that point. They’re getting to that 105. That’s what I’m saying. Is that it? Is that the answer? I I don’t because I legitimately don’t know they could win 89 in the regular season, but if they make the playoffs, they need to be better built for the playoffs. This offensive lineup is not built for the playoffs. Christine Yelich is not built for the playoffs. So, their offense isn’t good enough. What do they need to do better? They need to build a better lineup that can compete in the playoffs, knowing that playoff baseball and regular season baseball are two different things. It’s not a fully It’s not apples and oranges, but it’s definitely bananas and plantains. It’s definitely not the same. And it’s kind It’s kind of like for years Pat Riley would get the Miami Heat to the playoffs. Yeah. And they’d lose in the playoffs, no matter how well they play in the regular season because they played with maximum effort for 82 games. They had no next level to get to. Meanwhile, every other NBA team knew they had a next gear to get to in the playoffs. They were playing 82 to get to the playoffs. They the Brewers didn’t have a next gear. The Brewers were maxed out. The Dodgers weren’t even close. The Dodgers were let’s get in and then we got five more gears to get to. The Brewers need to put in place a a starting line a a starting lineup day in and day out that isn’t ma max effort for 162 that knows how to get to the playoffs and then goes max effort. Sewing with Nancy doesn’t have a stick to shake at this. This is fantastic. We woke him up. I know. We woke him That’s what I literally had to turn his mic down a little bit once a week because I’m talking about Trevor right now. You do this day. I’m done. That was it. Right now you guys are good, right? That’s it. Take a nap. Not quite. Monday hopefully. We’re done. Um what’s your what’s your thought, Trevor, on what this organization has to do different to get over the hump? You and I talked on the day we went to the game. Was that Tuesday? It seems so long ago. Yeah, Tuesday. It was wild. Days run together. There are high highs and low lows. And that seems to be the way that this Brewers team felt this year. Super high highs, super low lows. Right now, we’re one of those lows. My question now, because I don’t like talking about this is over, because it’s not. It was It’s over, Johnny. But well, it was but it wasn’t over. It wasn’t over the day that Giannis still had a playoff game and everybody and their mother in Milwaukee wanted to talk about Giannis being traded. McFly, there’s still games to be played. So, pause and go. There is at least one more game to be played tonight. I have And I do love baseball. I love baseball. I And I will watch baseball. I’ll watch this through the World Series. I will cuz now I don’t care if the Brewers don’t win. I don’t hate any other another team as much. I don’t want the Dodgers to win. And I was really hoping for a Seattle Pilots Brewers World Series. It could It’s plausible. We’ll see what happens. It is plausible still. I mean, like I understand that’s that’s the whole you’re saying there’s a chance. Yep. Yes, sure. 92 texted that in. But at the other side of this, let’s still play baseball. The Brewers have shown that they can snap out of a slump like that this season. And I understand that this isn’t the same team. And Cheurio had something happen last night that looked horrible. Yep. Although Murf did say that he thinks he’s going to be fine. It’s just cramping. That’s what Cheurio said through his translator, which by the way, I I ended the night last night watching that clip. Yeah. of Cheurio talking to the media through his translator, which he does. Whoa. That is a job that I have very much underappreciated. I totally agree with that. It’s not just that you know Spanish and English like you need to know how to re like because sometimes they talk for sentences and sentences. You need to know how to like extrapolate it and get all the right information question then spit that to Churio in his own language. Then Churio is going to give you the answer back. You need to interpret that and give it back to the media and have it make sense. Right. Very much underappreciated that position. Very true. Good point. Listen, I’m It’s not over. I understand that it’s bleak and let’s just bring everything we have to this game tonight. Let’s wake up the bats somehow. I don’t have the answers. And maybe that’s the position that the Brewers need to be in, guys. We have nothing left. So, is that a good spot? Like, we have nothing to lose other than going home. I I just it’s difficult based on how the last three games have gone for me to think that if if the Dodgers get two runs, it’s going to be the same thing. I just I’m I’m not seeing this offense all of a sudden light up. And and I think there’s a little bit of what we talked about as soon as we knew it was the Cubs and we were talking about this Brewers team of, you know, I and I said it a ton with Tommy on the leadoff show of just talking about, hey, this is different. This is the playoffs, okay? In postseason baseball, these pitchers are great and you need to take advantage of when they make a mistake. That’s why home runs exist so much in the postseason because these pitchers don’t give you a ton of opportunities to get hits. They pitch really well. I don’t know that the pecking away mentality works because it hasn’t worked thus far. One more thing for me and I know we got to get to a break and I’m so excited to be back with this here program. Yeah. On Monday. Yes. What I’ve been told that’s what’s happening. We will be together again. The band is back together on Monday. Mitch gets to sleep in. Mitch gets to go to bed. Let’s just Hey. Hey. Can we figure out once a week? Can I do a segment with you guys once a week just to keep the Maybe not. Only in the 6:00 hour. Yeah. Done. 6 to 6:15. I’ll wake up and go back to sleep. There’s There’s no You got to come into the studio. You guys, we have a lot of money a lot of money in bats that aren’t batting right now, including Reese Hoskins. So there is something plausible that means we can get some money back and maybe go get a bat. You mean future Red Sox Reese Hoskins? Yeah. Yeah. He’s got No, see that’s that’s what I’m not ready for. But even but even Reese Hoskins like wasn’t the same player after his injury like last year. And he he he did carry the offense in May, but he was not Reese Hoskins who was hitting 30 plus homers for the Phillies at any point during his Brewers career. It’s very true. So just saying that. True. You’re out. Thank you. I’m out. All right. Thank you, Trevor, for joining us. Yes. Packers prediction. One of these games we have to win big. Okay. This might be it this weekend. Okay. Score. Uh 40 to 14. Wow, that is big. I don’t have to give you the godzers, my friend. I don’t have to give you uh my score prediction yet because I’m I’m going to come back in the next segment. Thank you, Trevor, for being here. Look forward to talking to you on Monday, buddy. All right, we got more coming up next. We got all of your reaction on the Nicollay Law fan talking text line. Get it in now. 4146771250. I’m Josh Alrech. That’s Mitch Thunderellis and we are live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatami Sports Book. The lights are Welcome back. I’m a little fired up right now to having the big guy in here. I’m Josh Aubric. That’s Mitch Thunder Nellis. Hey Josh. We’re live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podwatami Sports Book. For everyone watching us on YouTube, appreciate you doing so this morning. For everyone participating in the conversation on the Nicollay Law Fan Talk text line, appreciate you too. You can be a part of that on 4146771250. You can also make sure to follow us on Twitter. I’m honor Josh Mitch’s thunderm. True story. Um, yeah. I listen, I love the conversation and I understand that they still have a a game tonight that the Brewers are not dead yet. Uh there is baseball tonight. It is at um 7:37. Okay. I mean, listen, it matters. Yeah, we’ll talk about that next. I mean, and what’s up, we’ll talk about that. I’ll talk about that all day. Yeah. Well, that’s true. I I know you’re like a segment guy. I am. I’m not. Well, that’s what we do. Yeah. Um, but I do appreciate everyone being a part of the conversation and venting about the the game last night and what this team has to do. I think it’s an interesting conversation because this team, this organization rather, has proven, especially over the last two years, that they can do things differently. And this season, this regular season was a lot of fun. It’s a lot of fun, man. Absolutely. It was a lot of fun to watch. and and I know I know that depending on when that final nail is put in the coffin uh on the Brewers season that we will have our conversation about the season that was at that time. But after the game last night, after it was a third consistent game of elite pitching by the Dodgers, okay to good pitching from the Brewers, and nothing from the Brewers bats, it just has me remembering the past, man. And I just can’t I think the the reason that I’m frustrated with my own question of what this organization has to do is because I don’t know that there is an answer. And that’s what makes it so frustrating. I feel like they’re doing they’ve attacked the postseason so many different ways. Yep. In this stretch of of times that they have been there. They’ve won the NLDS three time or the the uh the division three three years in a row. I mean, they’re they’re playing good baseball when they need to in the regular season. They’re finding ways to win. They’re finding ways to get the bites of the apple. They’re going in many different ways. Mitch, it is not consistent year-over-year of how they’re getting there. Sometimes it’s with elite starting pitching, sometimes it’s with elite bullpen pitching, sometimes it’s with hot bats, sometimes it’s with power, sometimes it’s with pecking away. It just that’s why I’m sitting here. I’m like, okay, but so so what is it? What’s this magic formula to do it? And some people I know and they have been, you know, you guys have been lighting up the talking text line. People have been saying the difference is we don’t have money. The Brewers don’t have money. They haven’t been able to spend money the way that the Dodgers do. Blah blah blah blah blah. Okay. But look at the Diamondbacks. Mhm. That was very recent that the Diamondbacks came and they were kicking everyone’s butt and and making it as far as they did. I’m just saying that it’s not if the if it was true that in Major League Baseball every year one of the teams with the top two or three salaries wins the whole thing and it’s been that way for 10 years. Then yes, baseball would have had to do something. Every year a team that doesn’t have the largest salary finds a way to get that magic and make that run. It just dwindles that narrative, that storyline, that issue that Major League Baseball should have to handle with a salary cap. I’m just frustrated that in all of these years, the Brewers have never been that team to go against that narrative. Sure. And I just don’t know what it is. I don’t know what they could do. And that’s what’s depressing to me is that I really don’t know that there’s an answer. Well, I I have good news and bad news for you, Josh. Okay. It’s not your job. It’s not your job. That’s Matt Arnold’s job. Okay. It’s Mark Octinazio’s job. Um that’s Pat Murphy’s job. So, do you think they know? Do you think they know? Um I think they they know that they want to keep making this team better. As good as 97 regular season wins feels as good as winning an LDS against the Cubs feels, I think they look at the season and say, “All right, what can we because I think every team does that. you know, whether you won 57 games or 97 games, what can we do to make this team better? And part of it’s simply going to be let’s start the season with Chad Patrick, Jacob Miserowski, Logan Henderson, we’ll see if Woody’s there, Freddy Peralta, and whoever whatever other pitchers you throw in there. Tobias Myers. Tobias Myers last year had a 300 ERA. That’s basically a full season starter. Yeah. Like, can he get back to that form? We don’t know. Um DL Hall, Robert Gasser, if you if you come into that. All right. So, so let’s so let’s start there. Okay. Then let’s look at what we do with our our offense defense. Like does Joey Ortiz have a place as a regular baseball player? Is Bryce Dang our platinum glove second baseman or does he have to move to shortstop and Caleb Durban moves to second and then maybe we get an Alex Bregman to play third base or something like that? Do we is there money for a big one free agent signing which would probably an be an offensive player and maybe there’s not maybe the Brewers are not going to make that but were you upset with the offense this season this regular season through those 97 wins were you upset with the offensive performance because statistically speaking they kicked butt. No no statistically speaking they kicked butt in the regular season. Absolutely. and every statistician, every baseball person who there’s a reason like we can make fun of all the analytics people and we can make fun of all the baseball people, but there’s a reason that every baseball person starting in July started saying this team doesn’t hit enough home runs to win in the postseason. Like they literally said that to us like we read those stats over and over. How many teams haven’t hit 200 home runs in a season and have won in the playoffs? The Cubs in 2016 hit 199 so they weren’t at 200 or whatever it was. Every team hits 200 home runs. Okay, that’s what they do. Who wins in the playoffs? We all knew that. And we all said, “Oh, yes, but this Brewers team is different because they they’re they for a while they were leading the league unit runs and they finished second or third. They finished second in batting average.” And those are all great things to do in the regular season, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to a five or seven game series where if you have three bad days where you don’t hit, it’s over. You’re not getting saved by a home run because you don’t have the right personnel to hit that home run. The talking text line uh blowing up right now. The Nicol Nicole Law fan talking text line. 4146771250. Adam from Glendale says, “Money is a factor in Major League Baseball, but it is not everything. At least two of the four teams in the Championship Series right now do not have big payrolls.” And I have to double check Toronto. The Brewers are not playing good baseball right now. The offense looks horribly lost. And this is not the team that we saw for much of the season. If it were, I would argue that we would have a minimum of one victory right now, possibly two. Yes. Listen, Adam, I agree. I agree. The question isn’t what the problem is with this team currently. It’s how they how they get past this this whatever this is in the championship series because this team the way that they played for 99% of this season was way above good enough to be here but then when it mattered the most like it has for the last six years it’s not there. Yeah. Uh the our friend Brian Quick here says this team needs Cheerio Terrain and Freighic to take the next step. The problem you have with this team is that you are assigning the failures of the 2018 20 to 2023 squads to them when most of these guys were in the minors at that time. Right. The the the hope and we talked about this earlier in the show is that you hoped last year’s loss against the Mets would have given those guys at least a little bit of that experience to help them this year. And listen, Cheurio, I think Churio’s special and I think this team is hurt by his injury. Um, but overall, you know, we haven’t seen that jump from what they learned from last year to help that offense for this year. Um, the Dodgers were second in Major League Baseball with 244 home runs. The Mariners were third with 238. Uh, the Blue Jays were tied for 11th at 191. Now, I know 1991 isn’t 200, but it’s still a pretty big number. The Milwaukee Brewers were 166. They were 22nd in home runs. And I don’t think home runs is everything. I don’t I think you can hit 166 home runs and win in the postseason. The Cubs hit 223 home runs and the Brewers beat them in a fivegame series and they ought homerred them frankly in that fivegame series as well. I think the I think those teams can compete, but you need when your hitters go cold, your hitters go cold like that. Like again, I tweeted it and I talked about this in the six o’clock cover. I don’t know what’s wrong with the lefties, but it looks like something is wrong with Terrain Freelick and Yelich. Like they they are they are the bottom feeders right now. They are killing this team. And if they don’t break out of their slumps literally tonight and cluster hits together, it doesn’t matter if other guys get a hit or a walk here and there because it’s not going to amount to to anything because they just don’t have the cluster in their batting order to make the Dodgers pay regardless of how good the Dodgers pitchers are. We know they’re great. We know they’re nasty. They got class now out of the game last night and Durban literally answered that with a double like and then they couldn’t get that run in, right? And and I know Yuribe ruined that. Two out of three games in the series has let in an insurance run which is absolutely un You can’t have that happen. It’s killer. But it’s still just one run, right? It’s still just one run, right? But does Jake Bowers have a different bat down two-1 than down 3-1? Maybe. Right. Does he? And so I just I just worry that they max out their effort in the regular season, don’t have a next level to get to, and the other teams do. I’m very interested to see what happens in our next segment. What’s up Wisconsin? Where we ask you what’s up for today and your weekend? because some people already said they’re watching someone with Nancy and they’re not even going to watch game four of the NLCS where the Brewers trail three games to zero. Apparently there was some switch that was just turned. Let’s go. Decided to not be negative anymore. It’s a Let’s win tonight. There you go. At win tonight. One game at a time. Uh thank you for being with us all show long. Uh, and uh, now it’s time for what’s up Wisconsin. What’s up, Wisconsin? What’s up? This is where we find out what do you got going on tonight? Yeah. When are you watching the game? How you watching the game? Are you watching the game? What are you doing tonight and this weekend? I’m going to go first. So, first Blue Jays Mariners is at 508 on FS1 followed by Brewers Dodgers at 7:30. So, there’s still post 738 7:38. Two postseason baseball games still being played tonight. Tonight, that is still great for sports fans and lovers of postseason baseball. Agreed. Tomorrow, yes, is going to be an exciting day. But before I get there, I got to let you know it’s Friday. And on Fridays, I go to Natty Oaks and I get that big old bowl of chili. Big old bowl of chili, baby. I had like two people text in and say, “Man, Josh seems like he needs a big old bowl of chili.” Well, good thing for me it is Friday cuz that’s when I go and I get myself a big old bowl of chili. Love that. And that is Love that for you. Love that. Saturday. Yeah. Is Jord’s birthday. Wow. Yeah. Turning 9 years old, which is insane. Yeah. It’s exciting. And we are going to some I don’t know theme park to New York. I did. I did. I did. I did. What? But it’s like the kids party, you know? It’s going to be one of those things where uh you know, it’s just kids running everywhere and I’m going to be super stressed. It’s going to smell like sock. Yeah. You know, sweaty sock. Um so that is happening Tuesday. uh Saturday and then Sunday I will be watching the Green Bay Packers play football. Nice. Nice. Uh as you mentioned uh Brewers Dodgers uh Brewers if necessary I think it could be necessary tomorrow night uh they would play at 7:08. Hopefully that happens. Uh tonight uh number two Miami plays football against Louisville. Number 25 Nebraska is at Minnesota. Tomorrow Ohio State at Wisconsin 2:30 on CBS and number 11 Tennessee at number six Alabama. I’m excited for that. I I know we hate the SEC, but LSU is at Alabama. Um I think Miss is at Georgia. There’s some really good SEC football tomorrow. Also, shout out to our friend Hannah. It’s her B mitzvah tomorrow. Oh, so we will be there celebrating. Um her mom uh her mom’s a huge Brewers fan. Her dad’s from Toronto, so there’s a lot of baseball theme going on, but shout out to Hannah. And then on Sunday, um I don’t know if you know this or not, Josh, but I will be watching the Packers game at 3:25. Packers. Yeah, I’ve heard they’re playing. Yeah, they’re playing at 3:25 at Arizona. Uh Scotty Tiffany texts in on the Nicollay Law fan talking text line to let us know, “I’ve been distracted this whole NFL season by the Brewers and playoff baseball. This weekend, it’s time to do what I normally do every fall. Make the NFL a priority. I’ll reluctantly watch the game tonight, but I’ll be putting 100% of my fandom on the Packers starting Sunday.” Uh Josh, I forgot to mention, do you know where I’ll be at noon today? Where will you be, Mitch? Well, today the Mason Crosby Show with me, Mitch Thunderellis, will be broadcasting live on the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network from noon to 2 at the Verizon store on West Bloomman Road in Brookfield. Packers legend Clay Matthews will stop before his meet and greet. His meet and greet begins at 2. He’ll stop by hopefully around 1:40 and we’ll get to interview him. Verizon is hooking you up with an amazing afternoon. Plus, they’ll have some awesome giveaways just for stopping by and saying hello. It all happens today at the Verizon store in Brookfield on West Blue Mountain Road in Brookfield. Come see the Mason Crosby Show with me, Mitch Thunderellis, and come say hi to Clay the Maniac Matthews. Yes. What else you should be doing today, Wisconsin, I want to let you know is you should be listening to 9 to Noon with which is coming up next because Wayne Laravey, the voice of your Green Bay Packers, is going to be joining them at 10 a.m. You’re not going to want to miss that. Wayne is always a good interview. He’s a good time. Uh I love that man. Love daggers. And that is going to be an awesome interview. You’re not going to want to miss that. That is on 9 to noon with which is coming up right after this. Uh, doesn’t have the same ring. No, it does not. Uh, love him though. Brad, spooky sus says, “It’s spooky Sussex tonight. Zoo trickor treat Saturday and on Sunday, I’m eating my feelings about the Brewers with pizza while watching the Packers.” Hey man, that ain’t bad. That’s a jam-packed weekend for you. I like that. Says, “I’m driving to a house closing right now, moving all weekend. Mark A can’t get me down.” All right. Okay. All right. Yeah. What about uh Otani? Can he or um He probably can. He probably can. I mean, because he he’s got a lot of impact on how you might feel uh later. Yeah, that’s fair. That’s fair. Later. All right. So, how fun was it to see Trevor today? Yeah, that was great. He’s so tall. He’s I mean, he’s taller than me and you. He’s tall. He’s He’s handsome. He’s got the deep voice. Great head of hair. Oh my gosh. Listen. Wow. Listen. We got to find some flaws in that guy. I don’t know how I’m going to make it for the rest of my life doing a show with him. Um, it’s prediction time before we get out, Mitch. Oh, okay. Packers. Uh, yep. Uh, we did this on the Mason Crosby show yesterday, so I’ll stick with the same score. I’ve got 2716 Packers because they always score 27 in a win. Yep. Um, but I do think the the Cardinals will have the ball with 30 seconds left and there’s a chance for the back door cover. I’m going to go 2413 and I’m going to do that just because I was also going to go with 27 but then you said it. You could go 2713. I decided 24 and that’s but I’m letting everyone know that’s literally the only reason is McManus going to miss a field goal. Is that why? I don’t know because they have to they would have scored 27 but McManis is still a little banged up so he missed a 51 yard. Could be. I’m just guessing. That’s what this is. That’s what predictions are. All right. Thank you everyone so much for listening to the show today. We appreciate it. Um, as I mentioned, make sure to stay tuned for 9 to noon with Wayne Laravey going to be joining them coming up next. I am Josh. That is Mitch. We have been live from the Wisconsin Sports Radio Network studios powered by the Podawatam Sports Book. Stay tuned for 9 to noon and come on in on Monday because we are not done yet. See you in Brookfield everybody. Just go ahead now. And if you want to buy me FL

  1. maybe you should call the Phillies, they will explain to you the how and why they couldnt score with their line up either then you will understand

  2. The Brewers fandom and some media analysts had the Brewers owning the Dodgers before this series started because they swept the Dodgers in the regular season. There was no mention of payroll until the losses started coming

  3. So the dodgers payroll only allows them to put 26 men on the roster just like Milwaukee the same team that beat the dodgers 6 in a row

  4. The nine players that are on the field aren't getting it done they're choking just like the manager hey what did you have for lunch today

  5. So now the Brewers have a chance to do something historic and reverse sweep the Dodgers but they need to hit the ground running and chase Ohtani out of the park or this one is done-zo.

  6. Dodgers just have better pitching. Snell: 8 innings, 1 hit in Game 1. Yamamoto: 9 innings, 3 hits in Game 2. Dodger relievers: 3 scoreless innings in Game 3. Do the math.

  7. thank you for acknowledging that the Dodgers spend their money wisely and it’s not just about the payroll and more resources and any other team. I mean we have resources but the fact is that we re-invest and there’s a bunch of clubhouse out there that don’t shout out to this broadcast.

  8. It wasn't how they lost it was how they won by narrowly beating the cubs by the skin of their teeth. Up 2/0 and barely winning that series. Says alot that did the right team deserve to advance.

  9. ny skankees, muts and phillies had high payrolls like the DODGERS but they’re out of the playoffs. Stop making excuses scumbag milwaukee!

  10. As a Rangers fan I really don’t know much about the Milwaukee Brewers, but they look like shit in the playoffs. They even look worse than Cincinnati and the Phillies did against LA. I think the Cubs could have put up somewhat of a battle against LA. I hope the Milwaukee Brewers don’t make it to the playoffs again any time soon. They’re pathetic.

  11. I remember a really shitty World Series a few years back between the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies. Every game was a blowout and Boston cakewalked to a championship. Colorado looked like they didn’t even know how to play baseball. This playoff series is the same thing. LA is about to sweep and the Milwaukee Brewers scored all of 3 runs in 4 games. I just hope they don’t stink up the playoffs by getting in next year.
