  1. This is not a negative update. It’s a positive one.

Good to hear Josh is seemingly doing fine.

  2. I’m pleased it’s taking care of family as opposed to mental health issues.

I don’t begrudge him taking time off either way. Gotta take care of himself as well as family.

  3. We have not placed him on the NFI list, which might mean we expect him back within 4 weeks… unclear though.

Edited: for clarity, we HAVE NOT placed him on NFI list. Sorry y’all.

  4. Good! Now everyone needs to stop asking about the poor man. Leave him and his family alone.. none of our business what’s going on. But that update is positive and that’s all that matters

  5. I’m glad for him but I don’t understand why the sports talk shows are so nosey or questioning about what’s he is doing. It’s personal…none of anyone’s business.

  6. But has he even considered the needs of the betting markets or the brands who bought ads for this monday?!

  7. Does this really need as much coverage as it requires?

Simply from the standpoint of, we’ve been given the explanation, it’s a private matter… Do we really need to be told anymore?

Same courtesy extended in real life, when somebody says private matter… End of story.

We don’t have to enter every aspect of the players lives, especially off the field.

Big Red says things are fine, things are fine.

  8. Good for Josh.

Dude passed on offers from Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, USC, Oklahoma and other top programs coming out of high school to stay in his hometown and play for San Diego State because his grandma was sick and he wanted to be there for her and his mom.

Family matters to Josh. A lot. He’s proven that. And as Reid says that’s a positive trait.

  9. The speculation on this is wild. We were told it was a family emergency and that Veach was handling it. I trust Veach, and good on Veach for working with Simmons on this one.

  10. Maybe now the 20-30% of Chiefs fans that think he’s in rehab, quit on the team, retired, doesn’t like football or whatever else will give him a break. I doubt it, but I can hope.

  11. While I am relieved that Josh is ok I’m simultaneously grieved that he’s going through it. Take all the time you need Josh. Chiefs Kingdom has your back!

  12. I always assumed it was something like this. Terminal cancer diagnosis for a parent or grandparents seems likely.

  14. Leave the guy alone. He’s obviously going through something personally. Let the team deal with it. None of our business

  15. Is everyone just being performative? I mean there are examples of people that have played the day after a parent has died. If it is the case that a family member is seriously ill that is not an excuse to miss multiple games in the NFL. There are flights back and forth.

  16. respect to the dude, there are people in my life I’d also drop everything for regardless of anyone’s opinion or consequences for myself & I hope if you can’t understand that, one day that changes for you
