Padres and Rockies SCRAMBLE for Offseason Solutions | Who Will Make the BOLDEST Moves?
A lot is going to happen this off seasonason for the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres’s. Who is going to come out in a better spot at the end of the off season and spring training? Plus, World Series is set. I have to watch the stupid Dodgers again. But is Toronto actually a really good matchup? And unfortunately, we have to commiserate with the Seattle Mariners cuz we got to ask most cursed franchise, Rockies, Padres’s or Mariners. You are Locked On MLB Crossover, part of the Locked On podcast network. Your team every day. Rock on Rockies fans and Padres’s fans, welcome into a special locked on MLB crossover episode between locked on Rockies and Locked on Padres’s. Two of your longest running hosts in the NL West right here bringing you all sorts of great action. One team unfortunately a frustrating postseason exit after another kind of weird season I would say the Padres’s still weird and the other team historically awful and uh you know but still somehow lost big to the Padres’s but also stole a win or two from them as well. The classic fun. We’re going to talk about a massive offseason for both of these teams as both of these teams are seeing big time changes coming to their organizations. How much will they impact? How much does it matter? Because on the backdrop of it all, the World Series is set and the dreaded evil empire is back in action there as we all knew for a while now because they swept their way and the ALCS needed a few more games to catch up. We’re going to talk about that and more. And uh of course, unfortunately, we’ll have to play a tough game of most cursed franchise, Rockies, Padres’s, and Mariners. Joining me is Jav Reyes, the host of Locked On Padres’s. Javi, how are we doing, my friend? I’m doing great. you killed it on the intro as always. Um, I love our crossovers because it’s usually you being like, “Yeah, we stink.” And then I’m like, “Yeah.” And you’re like, “Yeah, but I’m also happy for you guys. You’re finally good cuz you used to stink, too.” And I’m like, “Yeah.” And then we end up here where we’re both eliminated anyway. It wasn’t even a matter, right? But, uh, I’m super excited to talk about it, man, because I I I really think that the the division is in many ways like the most electric division, uh, in the sport most often at worst, right? Like, at least it’s exciting and interesting. And electric is a good word to use because it’s also a lightning rod when you’re talking about talking points coming up for contract, you know, CBAs where you’re talking about the state of baseball. You know, people, you know, Jav, I don’t know if you heard about this. Dodgers spent a lot of money on their team and they’re back in the World Series and some people have issues with that. Uh, we got lots to talk about. So, before we go any further, today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel. Right now, new customers can bet just $5 and if your bet wins, you’ll get $300 in bonus bets to use across the app. Download the app today. Jav, I need you to catch me up on everything uh and that has already happened for the Padres’s this offseason. But just for the Padres’s fans on the other side, Rockies moving on from GM and president of baseball operations Bill Schmidt. The Rockies currently committing to an outside the organization search for that answer. We’re supposed to have a list of finalists this week. So, the Rockies still forming their their front office. Uh but this could signal one of the biggest shifts and changes in Rocky’s history. All depends if the owner is actually going to let these people execute their vision and actually let them do their job of fixing what I think could be an interesting uh job. So Javier, I want to kind of start there. I will I want to do Padres’s in a second, but I want to start there. Are the Rockies an interesting job? Are are the Rockies like the next, you know, is Brad Pitt going to be at 20th and Blake in a movie one day because they fixed the Rockies in the next great baseball film or, you know, I I I just think the Rockies are are a team that is that’s that really is untapped potential. I think they’ve got an electric fan base. It’s a great ballpark. Clearly the fact that they have been as bad as they’ve been and people still go. We love making jokes about this all the time that that’s why people sometimes the only reason they go to games is because of like beer deals or whatever. But I don’t know. I think with that owner it’s hard for me to say that they’re an appealing place. You’re going to want to go there, but I just look at it as this is he’s got the Nepo stuff with his his kid that was doing things and you know the the Aronado trade obviously which I imagine you’ve used for many in episodes of Black Dog Rockies. I just think I just don’t know with the owner. I don’t know. They are bad enough that they can tank and get some draft picks and whatnot. They have they can’t though. They’re they’re in that position where they they can’t draft in the top 10 next year. Oh my god. I didn’t Or coming forward, you know, whatever because there’s that rule that you can’t be right. Right. And the Rockies are not So the Rockies coming off this historic season there there is no I mean that’s I I think kind of just just to jump off your point there, Jav. You’re in such a mess. It it isn’t just you’re gonna be, oh, I can just come in. I got all the ideas. You have a lot of work to do at Yeah. every level. And it’s not just the baseball. It’s the baseball ops. It’s the management. It’s the coaching. It’s the analytics. It’s literally every last detail. So, I I don’t I don’t doubt I don’t see a reason to doubt your your hesitation there. That That’s my only thing, right? If I knew that there was a new odor, I would be applying right now, right? Like, I just think that that team has a juice. It’s a decentsized sports media market, right? Like there is stuff there to count on. I bet you could attract free agents as long as you just kind of get out of this funk. But one of the things we just see consistently throughout baseball is ownership. It determines so much, frankly, all of sports. It’s one of the most common things. We got the New York Jets, their owner throwing their quarterback under the bus today. Uh, you know what I mean? It’s like that’s like not helpful at all. And I just think that, you know, you you just have to hope that the owner leaves. And I don’t know if that’s the case. I mean, look at the Padres’s, right? Padres’s got new ownership. RIP to Peter Sidler. But that group, which ironically enough, had Dodger ties, came in, got into the Padres’s, and look what happened. They bring on AJ Per, they sign all these deals. And don’t get me wrong, they haven’t been taken to the promised land or anything. But I just think that it’s just not a coincidence, right? Look at another football thing. Sorry, football’s on my mind, but Washington Commanders, they got rid of their their owner who was horrible in um um Snyder, whatever his first name is. um immediately made the conference championship the very first year. Like I just don’t think I think that owners interfere. I think in the case of baseball, they refuse to spend when that’s one of the more tried and trueue ways to at least just get excitement, at least get some momentum building. Not that you have to go out and sign $400 million contracts only, but just do a little bit. Go out there, make smart moves. I just I I don’t see it right now for the Rockies. I don’t know if they’re the worst team to go to because I think the White Socks exist, right? Like White Socks exist. There’s also a bad team, but but you know, record-wise, the Rockies missed out on the White Socks from last year by two games. And let me just let me just real quick about to ask you that. Uh I I and so they didn’t they didn’t miss it by a lot. And the White Socks here, I’m trying to uh quickly look up their uh their record here. Mhm. 60 and 102 this year. That’s a phenomenal swing. If you I mean, if you’re talking about again a step in the right direction, for seven straight seasons, the Rockies have gotten worse. They have not improved. This has to be a rock bottom moment where you have to look at yourself in the mirror and everything does get completely re-evaluated. But there is the reputation for the Rockies that it’s not because this is a team I mentioned the record right they just barely missed that thing. But if you look at the long list of infinite the worst run differential of all time not by a little by over a hundred. No team in modern baseball had a minus400 run differential and the Rockies finished in the mid400s. Oh my god. If I if I recall correctly I but it’s it’s over 400. I know that. I’ve honestly started to kind of push some of it a little bit out of the brain. Yeah, they had the worst starting rotation statistically of all time. So, this team is going to need a lot. I mean, it’s again, there’s a lot of work and just by bringing a person in it is is just not going to fix it. And and there is a path to success here because I think, you know, you point out these teams where where they they get new ownership, but it’s also just changing the philosophy. Just I know we go across sports, but the Florida Panthers were a laughingstock. They’ve won back-to-back cups. Yeah. The Denver Nuggets were basically a middling team with a couple of flashes in the pans now, and they have now turned into a championship contender and made that the norm. I mean, every other team in Denver, professional me men’s team in Denver, they have all won championships. The Rapids, the Nuggets, the Broncos, and the Avalanche. And in the Broncos and the Avalanche case, multiple titles. Yet here they are sitting there like how Dick Mumfort can’t go over and work with one of the most powerful owners in sports in Kroni and and and and or and and go work with the freaking Walmart. How are you not going over there going to your buddies at Walmart that own there and be like, “Guys, we have a you have a beautiful ballpark with a long-term lease. smack dab in the city that people flock to from everywhere cuz even if the Rockies are bad, guess what? Padres’s fans are going to come to Colorado and and watch their team in the summer. Everyone is. And then when Showi comes to town, you want to go see Show. There’s just so many connection. It’s just like the Rockies could be this thing, but the changes I I I don’t know if they it it they have to show us so much before we can buy into it. And let’s uh let’s put a pin in it there. We kind of know the Rockies a mess a lot. But one thing that it will be interesting too to just kind of to be a nice segue into uh to talking about some Padres’s here and let’s tease it a little bit and then we’ll go to the break. But um Rockies did operate under an interim manager all this year. Uh and I wonder if that inter I personally believe the interim tag will be removed. It’s what the Rockies do. Um but maybe with this new president of baseball ops, GM, it could be different. Padres’s are going to be looking now for a a new manager. And what did you hear think of those comments after? Again, you know, maybe we’re like thinking too much. I mean, I kind of just fall back on the default of, yo, this game, this sport is exhausting and no matter where you are, it’s a grind. It’s huge. It’s a lot. So, let just give me your brief thoughts and then we’ll go into a break and we’ll dive into more about what’s coming up for the Padres’s in the offseason. Brief thoughts. Um, I mentioned that ownership is always a problem. One of the bad things, one common denominator with the Padres’s is AJ Peller, who I don’t want fired. Let me just That’s a spoiler of my thoughts on it. But another manager leaving doesn’t reflect well. I do kind of believe it. There’s been a lot of conspiracy theories on the Reddit boards and all that stuff from Padres’s fans and and what’s being reported that oh, they forced him out. This was actually a firing and all that stuff. Uh I don’t know. And then we’re hearing every manager under the sun, former catchers, Albert Pooh Holes, right? Scott Service, all these sort of people being mentioned for the job. Um, and it’s going to be a big one and I think that it’s going to be a another big offseason for the Padres’s. Not necessarily in terms of the scale of the things they do, but the scale of the things that they have to do. Uh, I think and figuring out the manager and figuring out, hey, are we going to cut back on payroll again? That’s going to be, I think, the big sort of question for the Pods this offseason. Yeah. And let’s let’s dive in a little bit more to that question is what do the Padres’s have to do? They’ve been a team that’s made moves. They’ve done things. You can’t criticize the Padres’s for standing pat. Maybe, you know, you you know more than me probably in certain situations, but it’s a team that usually doesn’t have a quiet off season, and this will be no difference here. That’s what we expect around here. Javi, coming into the break here, we were talking about the managerial position for the Padres’s and it being an enticing one. Yeah, really interesting names. I mean, especially for us when we’re talking about players that we saw, you know, we’re Yeah. Right., you know, signaling a little bit of a a changing of the times in our lives where, you know, you might be wse a little bit. We’re Oh, Albert Puos is managing now. Okay. Gotcha. We’re we’re already at this phase. But, uh, you know, the Padres’s are a fascinating team. a team that every year that really since I can remember since, you know, I it feels like 2007 really, but since they made that that change in ownership and made that commitment to we’re going to go out and get big names, we’re going to get Machado, we’re going to do things way differently than than we’ve normally done. They haven’t they’ve had great moments. They’ve had they’ve they are a team that is that has shown that they’re capable of beating the Dodgers, but they haven’t ever been able to get out of their own way or get over the hump and and get to that next gear. So, you you you mentioned this this position, you know, what do the Padres’s need to do? What what I mean, is it and and obviously it’s not just in the manager thing, but but what what what is I mean, is it something different every year that that that is the missing piece for this team? Look, look, I’m going to run through like my list, right? Like just really quickly. Obviously, manager, right? We got to figure out for sure if AJ Per staying. We got to figure out if there’s an international free agent or some way that the Potters can retool their farm system this off season. They need to figure out what’s going on with Udarvish. There’s been little mumblings about retirement. Can they retain Michael King? I don’t know. It’s looking unlikely at this point. Is there any type of decent starting pitcher that you could get available? Can you get Mel Kelly? Can you get Eric Feed? Can you get those, you know, Reese Hoskins level free agents? What degree is the payroll cut back going to be? Because they might be saying, “Hey, we were record in attendance. Maybe we’re not going to do that.” They did have them sign Nick Paveta last year. They didn’t do nothing. Um, but they have all these big contracts up there. So, at the same time, look, you and I both love to criticize ownership when they don’t spend. In fairness, the Padres’s, they are spending. Um, and you don’t have to spend the most to win. You just have to be able to spend a decent amount. And you have that to to work out. You also have, you know, Joe Muskroof coming back from Toby John’s surgery. You’ve got uh just there’s so many things. The Shield Sidler uh lawsuit, which we haven’t heard about for a while. I believe that’s going to go to Texas court, I believe, this off season at some point. I could be wrong. Don’t quote me on that, but we’re going to see if that results in anything. I don’t really know. I usually believe that things like this and then a settlement of sorts. But um it’s it’s just a I don’t know because because on one hand I’m almost like all right it’ll be manager and then they’re going to sign Eric Feed and that’ll be the offseason, right? But it’s the Padres’s and that’s how I felt last year. Remember the Roki Suzaki sweep stakes? Everybody was upset about that for good reason. Uh mostly and then you had the Nick Paveta signing and they brought in some guys. So I think that it’s going to be certainly not a boring off season. Um, but the trend of late, es especially ever since Peter’s passing, um, has been a lot more low-key, I think. But it’s going to be interesting, man. It’s going to be really, really interesting how he’s able to navigate things because this is a team that while they can still be contenders, I cannot help, and every basically every Padres’s fan will tell you the same thing. you can’t help but feel like and I felt like this even midway through this season when they were still doing well 2024 reach a shot and that’s the question that a lot of Padres’s fans are trying to grapple with because hey you know what Blue Jays someone asked a question about this I’m going to do this on my show in a future episode if anyone wants to tune in but they said hey look at the Blue Jays I said you know what Blue Jays spent a lot of money they were bad they had trades that they lost with Arizona giving up um Gabriel Marino for nothing basically, right? They had a lot of bad trades and they missed out on a lot of free agents. They’re the World Series, so it’s not impossible. Certainly. Uh it’s just going to take a lot and I just Oh, you had the Dodgers right there, man. You really did. It’s It’s hard to get over it. Talk about I mean, you know, unfortunat I think Padres’s and Rockies fans do a lot of living in alternate realities. I mean, who knows what happens to the Dodgers if that’s what if they lose to the Padres’s and instead of looking like a team poised to go back to back for the first time since uh like 20 plus years, something like way longer than that, I’m sure. Um, but you know the I guess here before before we we we wrap this up. Are you is this Padres’s team still going to be a we can fight for, you know, let’s be honest, we can fight for a wild card spot the division or can can do they have a shot at still being the Dodgers killers? I mean, can can they can they be the team? Can they be next year’s Blue Jays? I mean, I I think the Blue Jays are a team that’s kind of taken it off the chin a couple of years when you’re talking about postseason exits. I mean, I’m part of that and and and I’ll dive more into this when we uh in our final segment, just making it the World Series so hard. I mean, that’s what makes it so heartbreaking for Mariners fans right now. I mean, it just I mean, they’re going to be saying that same thing I think you’re going to be saying if they have a quiet off season if the team doesn’t bring back Naylor, you know, do the things because when when you’re an owner, these are the moments that you have to fully commit to because it’s you just need that one championship really. I mean, the Dodgers might be the but for your for the Padres’s, for the Rockies, for the Mariners, you got to just capitalize. And the Mariners have a win. You know, there’s still those windows. You got to capitalize on those windows instead of being so sheepish and saying, “We can’t do it.” You got to have that confidence there. Um, it’s going to be tough, man. It’s going to be tough, especially with all the farm system being depleted. Although, that’s going to be another question is are we just going to find out that there’s two really good prospects that AJ Peller found again? Because he keeps doing it every year. So again, there’s I I want to emphasize with Padres’s fans that it’s probably wild card. That team had all those starting pitcher injuries and they just frankly the Padres’s choked in the last month of the season. They could have had that division, they didn’t. Um but you sneak in the wild card, hey, maybe someone takes the Dodgers out for you. Who knows, right? Like things can happen. And always remember that there are worse teams that exist uh and teams that do not have a as nearly a hope historically based on how baseball works cuz their ownership is just like I love revenue sharing and I really want another Bugatti. So hopefully you take that as a silver lining. Yeah. And I and and I think you know one of the takeaways I think from this uh as we set the stage for our World Series conversation here in segment number three is the Dodgers didn’t really care about the division. They didn’t really care about the the the regular season. They were perfectly f obviously they ended up winning the division, but they didn’t care that they had to go to s, you know, being the lower seed. I don’t think the Dodgers would care that much if they didn’t win the division next year. And as long as they get into October, they’re going to feel good. And I think that might be the mindset that the Padres should have. You got to just be you have to just be able to create a team to be successful in the biggest moments. And I think we’re seeing that in the World Series this year. Let’s talk about the World Series matchup a little bit and let’s talk about cursed franchises cuz it is indeed Halloween month. Before we do that though, I got to tell you about the folks that help make this show possible. That includes FanDuel. The NFL season is here and in full swing. Because every time I get to chat with Javi, it’s a special time because it’s a good time here. Uh the World Series is set, Javi. Uh I am in Mariners Land. Heartbreak around here. It was a really good Mariners team. It was an incredible run. Unfortunately though, in the cruel world of sports, it’ll be washed away. And getting back to that spot is, as we were just talking about in that previous segment, is going to be difficult to do. But it’s Blue Jays versus Dodgers. And I got to say, I’m pretty fascinated by this matchup after watching this Blue Jays offense. That’s a team everyone’s talking about. Of course, the the Dodgers pitching staff being locked and loaded, dominating throughout the postseason, but I was so impressed by Toronto’s at bats. They every one through nine, not a lot of striking out, fighting off a lot of pitches, and then hitting the hell out of the ball when they did. What are your thoughts about the matchup here? Um, I don’t think that one side of the matchup is that all that interesting for obvious reasons, but no. Um, in all seriousness, hey man, that team fights. Um, and it’s just they were so quietly good this year. Like I genu I did not know and part of that is cuz we covered the NLS, right? I didn’t know they won the division or at least were leading the division until I think 3 weeks left on the season. I was like, wait a minute, I just assumed it was the Yankees that were leading. Um, and we know how that went, right? I think that the Blue Jays, first of all, their best player, uh, being Puerto Rican, we love that. I’m kidding. I know it’s Vlatty, but, uh, George Springer, hopefully future 2026 WDC member of team Puerto Rico. Love him. Just an amazing swing. I was rooting for the Mariners, but hey, amazing swing for them. And at least it’s a team that hasn’t been there uh, in a long time, right? Like, it’s always cool to just see a new team. Not that the Blue Jays don’t have any titles, but it’s just cool to see them back. They were good in like the 90s and 80s and that was it. Yeah. 30 30 years between uh the 30 years. Yeah. Like that’s that’s really cool. Mariners I would have liked because they’ve literally never been there. And if you know anything about the history of the Mariners, oh god, and we’ll talk about that in a second, but I think that you could see a lot of offensive heroics here. I think it’s going to be a fun series for sure. Um and I personally can I get my my hate now? Should I do it now? Please. I’m really really looking forward to how national media spins a team that spent $2 billion over two years as they should. I’m not making fun of that. Awesome. Great. That’s how teams should go. But that being said, I’m really looking like what’s going to be the new Buster Only tweet. Do you know what I’m referring to? Wait, I for those who don’t remember what I mean by media like jumping over themselves to try and convince everyone that and all the fan bases that are really upset that their teams don’t do anything as this team does well because of a really broken infrastructure. I think in the sport the Dodgers have a lot of money and will always be in a strong position to bid for players. But they also have an excellent culture that players love. It’s a group that has a lot of fun together and a lot of success. Okay, not bad so far. And they have the Jackie Robinson history and resulting tradition no other franchise can match. This was after the Roki Suzaki signing. Basically trying to make us all feel bad for being upset. So shouts to Buster Aldi. I can’t wait to see. Insane, right? I don’t know if you remember that tweet. I was just like my brother and God. By the way, he was Brooklyn. All right. Shout out New York, baby. New York versus the world. I’m from I’m from the metropolitan area. So that’s it came out of me when I saw that tweet. I was like, shut up. he’s Brooklyn, you know. But, um, in all seriousness, um, I think the Dodgers are basically the conversation will be, in my opinion, I think they’re going to win the series. I don’t think that’s a shock to anybody. Um, the rotation’s dominant. They got a former Padre on there. Uh, two former Padres’s on there. And I think what’s going to happen is we’re going to be talking about like 90s was the evil empire. We have it back. And it is in the form of the Dodgers in the sense of first team to repeat. They spend all this money, right? like they are the team in the sport and they’re just going to go be a rocket ship I think. Um and if the Blue Jays won it would be one of the wildest upsets ever that I’ve seen and I wouldn’t even make fun of the Dodgers. I would just be like, “Oh my god, shout out to the Blue Jays. That’s so cool, you know.” So, um I’m I’m looking forward to at least watching some games, but I will not be surprised if this one gets out of hand very quickly. Interesting. I I think they’re Yeah. I mean, I think they Well, they those first two games in the ALCS, they were just so cold and then they just and and the Merit staff, it’s, you know, that’s a bunch of good pitchers there across the board uh uh that they were able to take down. But I’m uh I think it’ll be I think it’s very cool for baseball to have Vlatty versus Showi on the biggest stage to I think now I think this is where Vlatty is going to take that step into he is one of the biggest faces. I mean, he’s obviously a legend in in Canada and and and that, you know, in that region. Uh, now this is his chance. I mean, just imagine a a home run derby slugfest. You know, you know, MLB would love to see a game where Showi pitches, Vlatty takes him deep, show hits another one, and it’s there cuz I’m I’m Jav and I certified Dodgers hater, but I can’t hate show man. I I will be watching the show start. I promise I will hate watching the greatest thing to step on a baseball field. Despise that he’s in the division. Despise that he gets to go against Rocky’s pitching at Coors Field. Uh, you know, but um, yeah, if right now I I I think it goes six. I think the Blue Jays steal a couple. Uh, but I think it goes the Dodgers way. Did you see the video of someone asking him about Babe Ruth Show? And then he’s like, “Oh.” Oh, and it’s through a translator like I’m I’m going to butcher this, but he’s basically like, yeah, you know, I heard he feels like this mythical creature, but you know, I’m not there yet. Or like he said like, I’m not there yet. Or he was like, that’s not me yet. Something like that. I was like, okay, all right. Smack guy that is just so locked in. He is he’s locked in. Um I love seeing, man. I mean, that’s what I mean, you paid all that money to bring in. I mean, again, we hate I I I we it’s it very frustrating to watch, but there’s a reason why they’re so good in these big moments. The all the players want to play as much as the culture, you know, as much as BB Buster would a different thing, you know, it’s fun to win. And then when you have guy a team that really believes in winning and doing what it takes to win and they have the guys that constantly do it. So, I think unfortunately I think we are just in the beginning of a of a deadly Dodgers run here. We’re just about out of time, Javi, but I do want to ask with the Mariners missing out on the on the World Series, them being the still the longest I believe I was seeing in sports now, they are the longest team to be introduced without making it to the appearance across sports. Are they the most cursed franchise or do Rockies and Padres’s fans have a have an argument here? Still, I would say that I think it’s funny because I think 2010’sish decent Rockies teams. Maybe not always like super contenders, but some good Rockies teams. Aronado, Cargo, Tulo, like you had some fun stuff. Now the Padres’s are in that position where they’re the kind of like fun upstart team to a degree. The Mariners, look, everybody go watch I say this every time, go watch the history of the Seattle Mariners by Secret Base. It is the best sports documentary I think I’ve ever seen. It is so good. They are cursed but also so weird and lovable. It’s got to be Seattle, man. I mean, they’ve never made a World Series, right? Le Padres’s have at least gotten a little bit close, right? And then also, they’ve been there in ‘ 84 and they were there in ’98. And in ’98, they ran into the Yankees buzzsaw, right? So, another parallel to why the Dodgers might just be the new Yankees. Um, so I think that it I just feel like you have to say Seattle all sorts of I mean this is a team that had A-Rod, prime A-Rod, prime Griffy, prime Edgar Martinez, prime Randy Johnson and like missed the playoffs one of those years and they also traded Randy Johnson who then went on to win like three more SCUGs. Like they’ve had some exceptionally bad luck. Part of it is the lack of spending. I will say they have a very cheap owner, but it’s got to be them, man. And for you to get this close and that George Springer home run, like this is the type of stuff that like makes you just not want to follow sports anymore. Like my condolences to Mariners fans if for some reason you’re watching, I’m genuinely so freaking sorry. The Bryce Harper home run against the Pers from 22 is not nearly as brutal as that. Like like genuinely, especially being up. So really, really tough. But maybe you can hope that this is their moment that they’re going to become more of a thing. So, I don’t know. We’ll have to see, man. Hope this is the moment. I do I I hope that it was we went in, we knew it, got it close, now we go in the offseason and get the job done. Easy to root for the Mariners. I’m I think they have to, by the way, I think you’re going to get too much flack for it. I really don’t. If you don’t if you don’t you you if you don’t capitalize, you burn a fan base that is ready to buy in more than it has probably ever. Again, you mentioned that led those legendary lineups. This team went the furthest they’ve ever gone in the playoffs technically. So, this is and and being here in in Seattle, that’s where that’s where I’m at right now. I mean, Mariner took over everything. It took I mean, so these and and it was a quiet day around the office for for all my friends there and stuff, but uh I think you’re right. I mean, and I think if you sign Naylor, if you go at be a ton of stuff, just show that you care. Exactly. Show that you’re going to make some improvements. Yeah, because again, you’re not going to get 60 from Cal Next. Maybe. Who knows? I I mean, is there really reason to believe that Cal Raleigh, I mean, he’s he has shown be creative. Trade one of your pitchers to get some more offense. I don’t know. But you can’t do what say Cleveland did last year. Cleveland made the ALCS. All they did was sign Shane Bieber and trade away a player. Yeah. This is the problem with baseball, by the way, not the Dodgers. That’s the problem with baseball. You made the ALCS, that’s all you’re doing. And Astros, good team. Rangers, good team, but they aren’t on the way up. That that division could be Seattle. They don’t have the big boogeyman that that you and I have right now. So, in my opinion, there’s no there’s no excuse to at least just try, especially because they tried this year. They got aggressive at the deadline and they were rewarded for it. So, you have to go out, man. You have to be like, “All right, we don’t have to necessarily go and sign Pete Alonzo, right? But maybe you sign one of the Padres’s guys, Ryan O’Harn. Maybe you go and trade one of those four pitchers and get someone awesome in return.” Like, I don’t know exactly what their their teammates are, but I and I I honestly think they will. I’m optimistic. I’m hopeful. I’m rooting for them. I I really am. They’re such a fun little team. No, I’m I’m I’m with you. I’m on the bandwagon as well. But we are out of time, folks. Great baseball franchises stick together to share their hardships.
Rockies and Padres the chosen forgotten one. đ
We need HITTING!!! And Pujols!!!!
Rockies need to hire Bob Melvin as manager so he can add another NL West team to his resume of the other ones he's managed.
I feel for Rockies fans having to watch a really bad team year in and year out. At least they have a nice ballpark and great beer to drink.
