This episode in particular goes into really good detail about why it’s really hard to land someone like Trey Hendrickson during the season.… apparently, at least in preliminary talks, the Bengals wanted Grover Stewart and a second rounder for Hendrickson. If I’m Ballard I’m not making that deal. And the Bengals might not even “sell” bc they’re not completely out of it yet…Crosby isn’t going anywhere either because they’ll want too much for him. It’s a pretty good listen, and a reality check for anyone on here thinking we can just grab some big name player. I do think we will make moves for guys that are serviceable, and depth pieces. They do mention some names later on in the podcast that would be more grounded in reality.

They do need to make some kind of move even if it isn’t a blockbuster trade. Ideally addressing the needs at CB and edge rusher
We may not get them but we need to do something at least to help our CB and LB depth, ideally DL too. If Ward has another injury or is unable to play that CB room isn’t enough to get you past the 1st round maybe the 2nd of the playoffs
I don’t expect a big name, but I do expect our weaknesses to be addressed.
For those saying CB. Within 5 weeks our starting corner room should be Ward, JJones, Moore. I’d rather wait for them to be healthy than trade for someone who’s not a starter in a month.

I would do Grover and a third. Big grove is one of my favorite players but with how good Latu is playing having a second threat could seriously push the colts into the superbowl. An elite pass rush and the cbs getting healthy this defense could be top 10.
The only way most teams move a signed player is with a trade that’s too good to pass. I’m not seeing Ballard going that far.
Remember, Ballard is looking at the likely hood most players are coming off IR after the bye…
At the end of the day it takes 2 to tango, if no one wants to play ball then it is what it is. Ballard does need to try and address some weaknesses. The defense could use some depth.
People really don’t get it. These kinds of players cost a shitload. So we would be making deep cuts somewhere to do it. Get some depth pieces and let’s roll.
This is Ballard. Its not a Ballard move to trade for a playmaker in the middle of the season
To be honest, I can’t think of the last big midseason acquisition the Colts made. The only one I can think of was Trent Richardson. Have there been any others I just can’t think about?
Will any “big names” even be moved at the deadline? I think Chubb & Phillips from Miami are the 2 most realistic “big names” to be traded
Wouldn’t be surprised if Ballard just rolls with what he has honestly. The offense is keeping them in games and it puts pressure on the other team, leading to increased mistakes. DB room just needs to get healthy at the right point in the season.
I would expect big nothing burger. Most likely if Ballard talks he’d say something along the lines of “Look, we fielded some calls, but ultimately didn’t feel like the right offer was there for the price”. Turn the page and move on.
