NBA LIVE: Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks | NBA Regular Season | October 23, 2025 2K

with the big man match up in this one. Yeah, I I love to see skilled bigs dueling down low. Kind of a throwback in some ways, but there’s still plenty of physicality in the modern game. Here’s the starting group for the Cleveland Cavaliers. A lot of length inside. It’s Mobley and Allen in the post. A loaded back. It’s Carl Mitchell. It’s Hunter at the three. We talked about the guys who play bigger than their listed size and Donovan Mitchell is at the top of that list. Cleveland shooting their first free throws of this and going back a season ago they were a pretty average team at the line about 76% altogether. Free throw drops for Mitchell. Richard, something amazing about Donovan Mitchell. He averages over 20 points per game every single season. Yeah, he is just a natural talented scorer. He beats you in so many different ways. What I like most about his numbers, they go up in the postseason. and Mitchell thread the Cavaliers in recent years establishing a defensive identity. They do a great job of locking down the paint, Kevin, forcing teams to shoot over the top and just vacuuming up those misses. Now here’s Brunson. It’s good. He makes his first shot of the game. And Brunson recognizes how to execute inside. The deep must be more physical than here’s Portland for three. That’s rebounded by New York. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off. Oh, thank you very much. He he can really fly and combine that with some nice penetration too and you’ve got two points. Now here’s Moy Hunter. No one around him. It’s the three-point bomb. A very consistent three-point shooter. Hunter shoots it well from there because of how confident he is. Runs in the post to an on the triple. Cleveland’s gone one or two from long range in the first quarter. Mitchell kicks to Moy. [Applause] Garland surv can’t hit from the elbow and usually that’s a bucket for him but look nobody’s perfect in the mid-range now here’s towns pass to heart from outside the arc comes out again empty he’s 0 for one for Cleveland they’ve gone one of three from the field to start this one so far now Hunter And here’s Mitchell from the AR. It’s rebounded by Brson. New York’s gone 42 from And here is Bridges. There’s Towns and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. The Great Van Knicks have certainly brought hope back to the city of New York. And it’s been fun to watch. The fans are rallying behind this team. And it’s not just because they’re winning, it’s the way they’re winning. They play with heart and hustle. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. And guys, you might remember that he was not at his best from the foul line in their last out. First free throw is good. You know, the size, talent, and fearlessness of Towns is a lethal concoction. A prime time player who poses many problems for the defense. Seconds and throw, no good. This team thinks they should be up in front, but at least they tied it up. Moy is string on and it open deflects the pass with the steel and it has broken for New York. That’s good. And the defense to start that play was terrific. I love the fact that they attacked early in the shot clock. The Cavaliers trailing. Garland dishes to Allen. Pass to Mitchell. Allen with the screen for Mitchell. Back to Allen. Good. And the assist goes to Mitchell. Watching Allen go to work inside is a thing of beauty. He’s so confident operating around the rim. And Mike Brown decides to call timeout. He is going to have a discussion here on the sideline. It’s time now to hear from our Hall of Fame reporter, David Aldridge. What’s the latest, David? Yeah, I was able to talk with Mike Brown for a little bit. Now he’s worried it’s going to be one of those nights when Donovan Mitchell just goes off. He told me it’s like burning a ticking time bomb. You never know when he’s going to blow up, but they’re anticipating it. So, coach is expecting the best out of his team, preparing for the worst, guys. Thanks, David. Heat up here. [Music] Heat. Heat. The Knicks have a number of famous fans like a boogie with a hoodie. He’s here. Just one more thing that makes New York home games special. Games here just feel bigger because of the names in the crowd. on defense, the Cavaliers. Now here’s Brunson. Jared Allen grabs the miss. Hunter against Anobi. Hunter the pass to Moley. Good for the basket. Starting off one for one with that shot. A nice touch from the interior. Kobe looks very comfortable shooting from there. Took him no time at all on that one. Well, he is looking confident. Love how they’re using him so far. Yeah, when he gets engaged this early in the game, it’s bad news for the defense. He can roll this start throughout the rest of the game. Now, here’s Allen and it’s good for two. Hunter’s got five with a number of moves and shots to choose from. Hunter is scary. Nice bucket there. Brunson against Garland. Here’s the three. The Cavaliers pull it in. Here’s Hunter. Five points in the game. Harland kicks to Mitchell. shoots over Bridges and there’s another one for the Cavaliers. Showing off his skills as a shooter. Mitchell knocking down that mid-range look. With it, still scoreless. Six on the shot clock. Good D by Mitchell. Cleveland leading by four and the points coming for them now. Greg and Bunches and we’re seeing what a high team offense should look like. Here’s it from three-point range. When you shoot hundreds of these shots in gyms by yourself, it will make you automatic just like Mitchell. Now here’s Towns to the inside. Here’s Anobi. And Anamovi slatts it in. And didn’t do anything fancy there, but didn’t need to. Nope. He his only concern right now is getting the points on the board. I I don’t mean style points. Carterland against Princeton on the wing. Mitchell. He’s got seven. That one no good. Bridges with some nice defense. It’s trail by five. Anobi kicks to Hart. Carterland against Brunson. Wide open. That’s rebounded by Cleveland. Now Hunter. He’s got five. [Music] Pass to Allen. Kicks it out to Mitchell. And a great assist by Allen as that one goes in. Whether he’s initiating the offense or playing off the ball, Mitchell is equally effective. Runs in the pass to Towns. Bridges deciding where to go with it for three. Sinks the triple. Come at us and we’re coming right back at the end right there. You drain the triple and I’m coming from now. Here’s Garland still without the basket and the great shooters know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice on that position. Rangard Mitchell Greg is on the floor. He is the offense. Yeah. And that goes beyond just his ridiculous storm. Look at he’s also a skilled passer. So one way or another Mitchell is finding 200 and so is Cleveland with it after New York gets the three to Moy against Charlotte and he wins the score. Hard’s got seven points. I tell you what, it’s it’s almost like stealing to watch how he plays the game from this seat. And here is Garland. Mitchell outside. There’s the triple. And Carl Anthony Towns pulls it down. He knocks on two five from three-point line here in the first quart against Bridges. Astro out to Brunson. And no good. Not a chance to take the lead there. Cleveland’s gone three of seven from three-point range in the first quarter. Moy outside. Now on a screen on Hart to the middle and big time. Also a miss shot. And you don’t see that every day. Usually he’ll convert when he gets that close to the rim. [Music] Towns a screen on Mitchell comes in with a clean look. Gets it to go from beyond the ar now a three-point New York lead and Kenny Atkinson calls timeout here. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Mitchell Robinson’s check in for the Knicks. Jordan Clarkson comes in for Bridges then for the Cavaliers. hands a check in for Evan Mobley and cruises are in for DeAndre Hunter and the Cavaliers with possession here. It’s a three-point game. And with an update from the sidelines, let’s check in with David Aldridge. Thank you, Kevin. Jaylen Brunson is a very cerebral player. He says he focuses on the little things. The attention to detail has made the game a lot easier. I know what I’m capable of. So, as long as I keep working on my craft with the same mindset, only good things are going to happen for me. Kevin got you. Good stuff, David. Amazing how far he has come. We appreciate the report. Now, here is Garland. Hasn’t made one yet. And here’s Mitchell from the arc. Good on the triple. Right now, this is what you want to see. Mitchell playing without hesitation and just taking quality shots. Here’s Towns. Towns is double hard against Truce. Shot clock at six and Bronson has it in the corner. Towns for three. That’s rebounded by Cleveland. outside. Garland stolen by Benson. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for the Knicks showing their energy so far, sprinting up and down the floor, getting out in transition and taking advantage and you can’t turn it over against this team. That’s a recipe for disaster. And we’re seeing the results of that. That free throw no good. A different look for New York. Bridges is checked in for Towns and Bracken subbed in for Jaylen Brunson. Cleveland also making some changes. Evan Mobleyy’s checked in for Allen. Sam Merrell comes in for Donovan Mitchell and B subbed in for Garland. And he sinks the second. And here’s Ball. He’ll bring it up for Cleveland. They trail by three. Moy outside. And they call the foul. So he’s got the and one chance here to make it a three-point play. Oh yeah, it’s a lot of body there to cover using that to his advantage. and he’ll be shooting his first free throw of the game here. And he hit 72% of his foul shots a season ago, but I’m not sure he’s real thrilled with those numbers. Yule, he’s checked in for Josh on the free throw. No good. When you’re talking, where do you start in terms of length, skill set? He’s got a great offensive skill set. He’s got a great defensive skill set. This man has the old school grit and grind mentality. The Cavaliers trail by three. Outside ball fast to spruce kicks up a three. It’s good. The assist that time from Ball. Such a good facilitator. ball has nice touch on that pass. Marson outside. A shot by Brock wide open trying to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. [Music] Ball against Roden pass with the ball and that won’t go. missing that bucket. Cruz against Bridges goes up and it nice and easy. Bridges got five points so far. One tough customer. Bridges fighting for the basket in close. Ball against Rodney. Right side ball. Lat [Music] one quarter in the books and it’s been a close one so far. Nick lead by two and we’ll get the second quarter underway on the other side of the spring. and we hope you’re enjoying the game. Both teams tonight keeping things pretty even so far in the scoreboard. And what stands out to you from New York in this one? Yeah, in that first period they look to push in transition at every opportunity. It leads to some easy buckets and I think it’s giving them control of the pace in this one. They’ve got Jordan Clarkson bridges out there with Yabu. Then there’s Malcolm Brock and it’s Robinson and at the center filling out the middle. That’s the five for New York right now. Hey Greg, you talk about toughness, a compete factor. How does a team create that culture? Call it critical match. When you have the entire organization and enough players committed to that kind of effort, everyone has to meet that level. Nice ball movement there. Delivered the pass right on time. Shrew against Bridges one up and a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. Richard, one thing you don’t see Muel Bridges do is miss games. He is always out there. I think it would take a lot to make him sit out of a game. He is committed to being there for his team. It’s so impressive. The first free throw is good. I consider Male Bridges a high motor player. He’s always ready to turn up his energy if he thinks it will help him get the better of him. Both shots good from a strike and the Cavaliers with possession here. Here’s Merrell still yet to score. Stolen by Brock. And here’s the fast break. Clarkson leading the way. And sometimes we forget about Fox’s vertical. He’s more than happy to remind us on those throw downs. The Cavaliers trail by five. Ball. The best to Moy. Throw on the wing. Moley is behind. Narrow. And another three for Cleveland. You give a shooter of his caliber that much time to seam it up. Oh yeah, you’re done. Second quarter. We’re a little over a minute and a half in. [Music] Clarkson looking for an opening. Steps back and finds. And again, it’s New York. And this is what Clarkson is out here to do. He’s consistent about looking to score from the mid-range. Ball against Rodney. They get it back and change shot. Pass to Spruce. Just five on the clock. And N gets to Moy. Stru for two. And three chances on that possession, but they just couldn’t find a way to score. [Music] Now here’s Clarkson. Defense right on. It’s Bman on the wing. He’s covered by Ball [Music] with the block. Already a stellar defender. Proving he can be relied on to anchor for this team. ball from long range and nothing seems to work as that one misses and he’s open for five outside number two around 3 minutes gone by three assist by as that one goes in got the lead up to seven now for the next balls to Ming in. It’s going to be out of bounds. The Cavaliers will retain possession. OG’s check in for the Knicks. Switcher also for Cleveland. Others check in first. Hunter bounce pass. Mans finds ball. Hands it from downtown. Love whenever ball is assertive like this. This is how dangerous he can be on offense. Here’s to Bridges. And here in the second quarter, they do as we approach four minutes played. Anobi outside. Bridges sets the screen for Anobi. Four on the clock. The best three and D wins in the league. We’ll start with OG Anobi who excels from the corner. and Kevin about 45% on quarter threes the last couple seasons. So OT can space that floor horizontally. That’s in addition to his elite defensive ability. Take a break right and he makes the first Anthony Towns checked in for Clarkson Garland. He’s checked in for the Cavaliers. [Applause] The free throw is good from Anobi and Kenny Atkinson calls timeout. Looking for a breather and maybe just one or two things to talk about. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat up here. [Music] Heat up here. [Applause] And so it’s Cleveland with it outside. Garland [Music] shot from 12 and he connects with the jumper. Garland’s got his first points of the game. Whoa, he really got his defender on his heels on that one. What a fantastic play. That’s the 35. Good. Honest for the Knicks, man. What an assured player. Anobi believes in his ability to shoot the ball off the catch. Back to Garland. Fires from deep. A shot. No good. And here’s Bridges. They’ll bring it up for the Knicks. Robinson sets a screen for Christians. Robinson finds Brockton. Robinson a screen on Garland in the pass. Bridget for three. That’s rebounded by Cleveland. And here’s Cruz for three. It’s hauled in by Carl Anthony Towns. Towns has got his seventh rebound of the game with that last Bridges passes to Towns. Bridges against Drew. Pass to Towns. Knocks down the people. Towns has got six points. It really is something else to watch about right now. shoot from that far. Harland picks the hunter with it. Here’s in the corner for three minutes. The offensive rebound. Robinson with the block. Anobi against Hunter. I don’t know if he passes to Brian. Oh, good with the triple. The Cavaliers trail by 10. Structs for two and some very quick points for him on that possession. He’s got eight. New York’s gone three of five beyond the arc since the start of the second quarter. Bridges against Drew. Now here’s Brockton G right on and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. Here’s Garland picks one up for New York. They had shot 75% of the strike. Six of eight. [Music] And the first one drops and he’s the glue that holds this team together. Broden’s calm demeanor and lead by example approach is so valuable to this squad. The Knicks making a switch here. Brunson’s checked in. Ryan, he’s checked in for Cleveland. Down to the Mitchell comes in for Nance. [Music] London gets him. No surprise there. He’s about as automatic as it gets from the stripe. Hope I didn’t jinx him. And Kenny Atkinson calls timeout here. He wants to talk to his guys. [Applause] Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] making a switch. Check in. [Music] The Cavaliers trail by 10. Brian is on Clarkson. And here’s Mitchell from the ark. He scores his fifth field goal. He’s taken nine shots to get those five. He’s found his rhythm from deep and and you can see the confidence and of course it helps space the floor which gives this offense more room to operate. Now here’s Brunson. He’s got seven. New York no good that time either. [Applause] Now here’s here’s and Brian throws it down. He gives up a bit of size at the center position, but his leaping ability, well, let’s just say that makes up for it. Mitchell against Clarkson to Robinson. And here’s the whistle. 3sec violation. Now, he’s checked in for New York. The Cavaliers trail by five. Garland. Here’s Hunter. Count the bucket and he’s got a free throw coming up as well. How about the strength and focus on that one? It’s clear Hunter up to the challenge at finishing on a physical defense. Cleveland shooting their fourth shot at the foul line here. [Music] The free throw drops for Hunter. an athletic forward with with a versatile skill set. Hunter has also proved he can come up big in big moments. Now here’s Brunson. He’s got seven and it’s Clarkson that time on the assist from Brunson. Eight points for Jordan Clarkson. And you can expect him to make it when the D is trash like GA. As you know, Jaylen Brunson is a second generation NBA president. His dad Brunson was an 11year-old who also played overseas and eventually settled in as a coach in this league. So Jamie grew up in those NBA locks. First one falls for. So after making the first, he goes one for two. The Knicks lead by three. And no one near Clarkson as he lets it go. misses the three. Cleveland’s gone an even 50% from three-point range in the second quarter. Four for eight. Back to Garland to the paint. Here’s Mitchell. That drops and it comes off an assist from Garland. 18 points for Donovan Mitchell. Whatever he lacks in size, Mitchell makes up with craftiness. It allows him to be effective inside. Here’s Yan. And that one is stuffed right through. He may not have that traditional power forward, but his bounce, well, that kind of levels the playing field. That’s Mitchell shoots the three. They get the rebound. Bryant and finish off by Bryant. Good to see a player going all out in the games this time. You know, G, he knows what his job is. Control the offensive glass. He’s just giving them everything he has to make his teammates appreciate and enjoy playing. Here’s Garland. No luck that had time in the shot, but wouldn’t put them on top. Clarkson for three. Bryant with a rebound. And here are the Cavaliers. They’re on a 15-6 run. And it’s Mitchell missing. And here’s Brunson. He’ll bring it up for New York. They’ve led by as much as 10. Honobi passes to Brunson. Brunson far finishing shot. Way bigger than he looks. Brunson has a lot of heart. The Cavaliers trail by three. Bass to Stru. [Music] There’s 159 left to play in the first half. Garland with the bucket and giving up some inches inside but makes up for it with an aggressive style. Yeah, you can give up some size, but that shows you how fearless he is willing to attack the basket no matter who is in front. Here’s Arnold Scarland picking up that last offensive rebound. Brunson finds Towns. It falls. Nice feed that time from Brunson. Brunson’s got three assists now in this one. And they are really racking up the assists in this one. And their team chemistry is evident. These guys enjoy playing with one another. Now here is Garland. He’s off on that one. With some nice teeth. has the opportunity. A great puncher punch. Beautiful pass from Ny. Oh, what a find. The ball just comes out of punch and spins on time. Outside Garland Hunter three. He makes another one. That’s four up and four in to start his game. He can really stroke it from deep. You have to keep better tabs on him. And outside. Clarkson with the screen for Anobi. Master Clarkson trying to find Towns. Gets it to him. Cover Bryant and is Towns missing. The Cavaliers trail by three about 7 seconds separating the shot game clocks. Garland. The layup missed. New York’s gone outside a lot tonight. 17 times in fact. Seven of 17. Brunson against pretty bucket inside by Brunson. Nice job getting inside for the layup. Got the deep thinking jump shot. Gave a little pump fake and then off to the races. Here’s Mitchell. Oh, nails it just in time. One eye on the rim, one on the clock. What a play, boy. That was close. Got it in just in the nick of time. And some good action through the first two quarters as we reach halftime. Nick’s out front. They lead by three. It’s time now to go courtside as we send you over to David Aldridge from the sideline. David, take it away. Thank you, Kevin. Carl, you guys have built the lead. What is the key to maintaining or increasing it going forward? We don’t change what we’re doing. Let’s stay together, keep passing the ball, keep playing great defense, and just keep making them think, make decisions, especially the difficult ones. We had the advantage in the first half. Let’s see if we can keep that advantage in the second half. Thanks for your time, man. Back to you, Kevin. Thanks, David. And we’ll be back shortly following halftime to get the third quarter underway. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] And in that first half, we saw a pretty tight battle. We’ll soon find out what sort of adjustments were discussed during the half. It’s been one outstanding game from Donovan Mitchell. And how about the amount he’s contributing in the scoring column through two quarters? He has been terrific. He always wants to be a go-to guy for them. I’m sure he’ll be calling for the ball even more in this half. New York leading by three. Checking out the group for Kenny Atkinson to start the second half. A loading back court. It’s Garland and Mitchell. A lot of length inside. It’s Marberry and Howard in the post and it’s Howard with a small forward position. So skilled working inside. Towns knows how to operate down low. The Cavaliers trail by five. Garland. The pass to Moy. Moy. A screen on Anobi. Inside is Allen. Slam it down. You got to love his aggressiveness to finish inside. Well, his leaping ability gives him a great advantage. Now, here’s Brunson. Shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. That’s on DeAndre Hunter. Oh, staying strong inside. Brunson going right into the coverage to get the call. The Knicks have made their free throws at a pretty good clip. They’ve hit eight or 10 and at the line last season about 78% as a team. Pretty solid numbers. That one falls for Brunson. [Music] No good on the second free throw. The Cavaliers trail by four. [Applause] Hunter on the wing defended by Bridges. Hunter kicks to Mitchell. Three off the mark. I’m sure they’ll think twice about shooting against him next time. Now here’s Brunson. He’s got 12. Shoots over Moley. Brunson. No good. Trying the defensive effort there. Not giving him room to operate. Hunter the pass to Moy. Easy two points on the lane. Mo’s got six. It’s a great move and he catches the defense completely off guard. Yeah, taking it right to the rim. One imagines that might be discussed at halftime. That’s going to be on. Here’s Brunson on the arc. Brunson for three. Wipes the look and dreams it. Man, can get going. He’s got some speed all over this. Here’s Garland and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. And the improvement ar from Garland’s triple drive game has been immense. Kevin, his confidence when he is ready to attack is next level. He’s got great footwork, throw a great handle. Very few defenders can stay in front of him in a one-on-one situation. The first one falls. And I love watching Garland mature into a leader. And you know what? He is not done yet. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. G, you look how Garland can create for himself. Very good off the catch or the bounce. So deadly off of those high picking rolls because he can dribble into that three. A playmaker that can do that is to create that space. Wow, what a pass there. He made that a very easy basket with that setup. Moy outside Bridges against Mitchell. [Music] A kick out to Moy. Six to shoot. All shots off. The Knicks leading by five. Here’s Hart and two free throws coming up. unable to get that one to go with all the contact. That one on mobile. The Knicks have been shooting right around 75% of the line. Nine of 12 so far. [Applause] Free throw good drops. It’s Merlin with the ball for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kenny Atkinson calls timeout and coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Clock keeps going. 3 minutes into the second half now. Hunter kicks to Garland. Here’s the chair drop. Kicks it out to Mitchell. That drops and it comes off an assist from Garland. Mitchell’s got 23 points. Great instincts with the ball. Garland just kicks a guy. He sets him up to score. Bridges outside. Just under three and 12 minutes played here in the third quarter. Good. Benson gets through the contact. How about how he sets his man up there, runs him right into the screen, and then gets the basket. Brunson against Garland. Pass to Hunter down low and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. Hard to stop the guy with physical decency. and forces the defense against the counter. This is his first free throw of the game and as for last season he was a 94% shooter at the line. He’s off on the first pure five isn’t trying to shoot a bunch of threes. He bangs down low. He rebounds, protects the paint. He is a rare breed. He hits the second from the line. He’s been with it. He’s got 19. Towns a screen on Golden and good as it just cuts down through the net. It works well there. Not much. distance from the deep. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting to the screen. Now here’s Mitchell. 53 points in the game over Bridges. That one’s in there. The New York lead is cut down now to just five on the basket for Mitchell. Coming off a big game, his confidence couldn’t be higher. A coach knows it. When it ain’t broke, leave it alone. Until someone stops him, just let him roll. against Brunson. And Brunson, a very physical player, someone that understands how to bait defenders into fouling. And guys, let’s get your take on the scoring breakdown for the Knicks. I like how they’ve been attacking the lane. It’s been beautiful. All game long. They’ve been successful penetrating and getting offensive production. And all game long, they they’ve worked the ball inside. It’s really worked well for them offensively. And that one misses. [Applause] And he’s good on the second. The Cavaliers trail by six. Garland. The pass by Ellen. Now here’s Mitchell. Six. Pass to Garland. Shoots over Brunson. Garland. No good. There are nights where the shots just don’t fall. Unfortunately, I know how that feels. Now, here’s Bridges covered by Moy. And oh boy, a lot of contacts out there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. Garland picks one up. And Bridges is a crafty player. Knows how to draw whistles and get to that line. He’ll take his third and fourth free throw shots of the game right here and converted more than four out of every five free throw attempts last year. So just solid at the line. And that one falls for Bridges. Free throws good from Bridges. It’s Merlin with the ball for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mobley outside on the wing. Mitchell. Mobley sets the pick for Mitchell. Back to Moley. Mitchell outside. shoots over Bridges and the rebound goes to the Knicks inside Hart and that’s good. Good pass to get it done. Hart’s got the lead up to 10 now for the Knicks. The defense got crossed up and Bridges takes advantage with that pass. Pass to Hunter. Good D by Arnobi. The Knicks have gotten six of their seven shots to go down this court. What a fantastic strike against Brunson. The Cavaliers pull it in. Moley’s got six rebounds in the game. Vigil feeling it out a bit. Allen shot is off. New York lead by 10. Now Benson two points for him has the open. Hunter grabs the miss. Hunter’s got five rebounds tonight. Garland on a screen on Brunson. Garland gets the moley. on their miss. They desperately need a bucket. New York gone one or two from beyond the arcs. He’s coming out of the break. Pass to Brson with his feet and in off the glass. Brunson’s got 13 points in just this. And I like seeing Brunson drive inside. Good at just keeping the pressure on the defense. [Music] Garland. The pass to Allen. Bridges against Mitchell. A three ball. Bridges with the board. That is not a guy you want to allow. Opens for rain. Lucky for the defense. He just couldn’t get it to go. Brunson good. Just a reflexive move by Brunson putting complete trust in his mechanics. Here’s Garland. Six points for him. Beyond the arcs it from outside. Garland’s got nine. How about dueling from long range just going at each other. Take that, he says. I see your three and I’ll raise you another three. Now here’s Brunson. He’s got 27. [Music] Bridges against Mitchell outside. Garland rebounds with a rebound. Towns has got rebound number 13 for him here tonight. And let’s head over to the sideline and catch up with David Aldridge. Really recalibrated its emphasis on fouling during last season. Silver said there was a sense that offensive players had too much of an advantage. Still an adjustment this year. Fans want great offense, but they want players to be allowed to play defense as well. And I think that’s what they’re seeing. Leon, it’s a welcome change. Welcome indeed. No doubt about it. Da a solid mid-range shooter. Hunter knows where his strengths are. Runs and kicks to Jones. to the inside and it’s Anobi that time on the assist by Towns. And now that’s 11 points for OG Anobi. And it’s the Cavaliers with the ball. And here is Garland. He’s got nine. Mitchell outside. buries the long range jumper. Measures got 28. Okay, this is what he does. Mitchell, he’s got a scorer’s mindset full on against Hunter Brunson. Count that one. Brunson’s got 18 points just in the second half. Unwilling to let up even for a moment. That’s his pure instinct just fanning to the point. Always plays hard until the final whistle no matter what the situation is. Now here’s Mitchell and he has 28 points for the game. He gets rebounded by Jones. 127 left in the third quarter. Here’s Prince Jared Allen grabs the miss. Allen’s got four rebounds in this game. [Music] Brunson against Garland. Pass to Mitchell. Front pass the arc. Nicks with the rebound. Anobi outside. Now Brunson. There’s 49 seconds left in the third quarter of the game. There’s no one around him on the three offer. The Cavaliers trail by 13. Wild there for Allen. And slam dunk by Allen. Making full use of that reach. Allen able to pluck the ball out of the air for that easy lob. And here’s Brunson. He’ll bring it up for the Knicks. Anobi outside. 26 seconds left in the third. Down low. He’s against Allen. And too much time in the lane. They get called for the 3second violation. [Music] Cleveland’s gone. Three of seven from three-point range here in quarter number three. Ball against Brunson to the paint inside and he gets the whistle for the 3second call and just a little too lax with that possession and it cost them. And if they want to come back in this game, look, they got to clean up those mistakes. 12 through 3/4 of play down double digits. It may be difficult to overcome. Knicks lead by 11. And we’re coming right back after this break to get the fourth quarter underway. And it’s time now to bring you our State Farm assist of the game. And how about the big fella here showing us he’s got some point guard skill here with a tremendous setup. And for the defense, it’s so tough to guard a big man with that kind of court vision and dime dropping ability. And there may not be a lot of drama down the stretch as we head into the fourth quarter, but stranger things have happened. Carl Anthony Towns is out there with Robinson. Then there’s Jordan Clarkson. Then it’s OG and Obi and it’s Broden in at the one on the floor for the Knicks. Here’s Brogden. The Cavaliers making the shot outside Towns. Towns is double. New York moving the ball around. Five on the clock. New York needs to get off the shot and Robinson throws it down. Making the right play with the ball and moving it to the guy at the right time to get the play open. Spruce against Clarkson. Spruce passes to Darwin. And this hustle right there is why he leads his team in rebounds tonight. And let’s be honest, guys, rebounding is about he is playing with 110% effort. You love to get the ball this every trip. You can almost just not miss Garland. The pass to Bryant sends a screen for Hunter. Pass to Nance. Wide open shots Bruce. Three-pointer off the mark. And even without that three ball dropping for him, the defense should have done more on that last play. Clarkson with the ball. He’s picked up by Nance and he gets the basket. Officials blowing the whistle. So a chance at the line for one more. And that sends Jordan Clarkson to the free throw line. That one on Nance. [Applause] [Music] Heat up [Music] here. And that one misses. The Cavaliers trail by 15. Here’s Truce and Full over the rim and in for New York. They’ve gotten all three of their shots to drop here in the fourth quarter. They came out of the break for 15. A shot by Clarkson. No good. Cavaliers have gone two of four from the field since we started the final quarter of play. Spruce finds Garland. Brian a screen on Brogden. I am the best to Garland. Shoots over Broden. Garland. No good. And he keep trying to get himself out of this round. But maybe it’s not meant to be. I focus on with his teammates at this point. Oh, and the lead gets bigger by a ridiculous offensive. That dunk alone would have been spectacular. Never mind it coming at the end of an alley. Now, here’s Garland. Here’s Hunter to Garland by Bracken. And now the passen with the ball and the rejection by Bryant. And it’s out of bounds. And they see that touch by Bryant. [Music] We’re in the final quarter of play here, 3 minutes in. You can’t look at the result of that shot. They’ll take that whenever they get it. Yeah, it’s a great look for them. Number one now after Darius Garland missing on that last three-pointer. Here’s Hobi and he’ll get another chance. Oh good on the triple [Music] and Hunter. Here we go. Bryant and Carl Anthony Towns pulls it down. Towns has got his 20 to rebound here tonight. Saw that coming. Clarkson finds Brogden. block shot and it’s good off the glass and the Knicks lead by 17. He is getting everything he wants. The defense is seemingly powerless to slow him down Garland. He is guarded by Bron fires for three. Carlin no good. And the well is running dry for him right now. Nothing for Yeah. And the risk now is that he gets inside his own head. Time to take deep breaths in through the nose, out through the mouth, and let the game come to you. Shot good by Clarkson. Nice feet by Robin. Excellent at whipping those passes to open teams. And so Garland will bring it up for the Cleveland Cavaliers. 19-point game. Pass to Hunter. And there’s the call on Brock. That’s his first foul. That’s It’s close, but you know, didn’t get on balance quick enough. Hard. He’s checked in for Mitchell Robinson. And Cleveland also making a change. Allen’s checked in. Here’s Hunter. Nance outside. Now Allen defended by Towns. Allen kicks to Hunter. Just five to shoot. They can use a bucket. The rebound by Malcolm Brock. The Knicks leading by 19 points. Anobi finds Brockton against Clarkson. High arcing shot. Towns. No luck. Cleveland’s gone 0 for three so far in the fourth quarter from long range. Bounce pass from Guardian. Two open that time. Made it look too easy. Look, as Allen is going to hit that shot, your whole defensive strategy has to change to the middle. Here’s Hart. The Cavaliers pull it in. Ellen’s got six rebounds here tonight. Honor the best and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws. And the defense foul there to prevent the layup, but that’s exactly what you need to do. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Music] and he knocks down the first one. A different look for New York. Mitchell Robinson’s checked in for Carl Anthony Towns. Male Bridges comes in for OG Anobi and it’s Jaylen Brunson in for Brockton. Cleveland also making some changes. Mobley, he’s checked in for DeAndre Hunter. Mitchell comes in for Max Truce. It’s Lonzo Ball in for Garland. So he gets them both. The Knicks leading by 14. Outside Robinson. Brunson sends a screen for Robinson. Stolen by Mitchell. [Applause] lets it go from deep. Tracks in the tray. Measel’s got 31 points in perimeter scoring. I have to imagine it was a topic of discussion at halftime. Can you see this so much more nowadays in the NBA team emphasis on jacking up threes? The Cavaliers trail by 11. Ball kicks to Moy. And there’s the drive. [Applause] Moy. A screen on Brunson. Down to five on the shot clock. Here’s Ball. A kick out to Moy. Mitchell against Clarkson. Mitchell passes to Allen slams it in for a big Allen is so true. hitting a pick and then gracefully rolling into position. And so it’s Mike Brown here calling timeout. He’s very aware of the timing here and the significance of getting things squared away with his team. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat. A different look for New York. Towns comes in for Mitchell Robinson and Anovi sucked in for Clarkson. Hunters check in for the Cavaliers. Garland comes in for ball. And now the latest from our reporter, David. Hey, thanks guys. I was able to hear Mike Brown during the break. These old players, I love the energy right now. You look like you’re having fun out there. Keep playing for each other because our chemistry looks great right now. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Here’s Moble. Jaylen Brunson picking up that last basket. Here’s Mitchell. Drops in the layup for two. Mitchell’s got 13 points in the second half. Well, they’re getting stopped and they’re attacking on the offensive. The momentum seems to be running in their favor. They’re close to taking the lead. Now here’s safety move and that’s two points on the lane. Brunson’s got 33. Big miscommunication on defense. He recognizes it and quickly takes advantage. Yeah, they got to do a much better job of putting a little bit of pressure on him on his way to the moley against [Music] another shot. Basket is good. He’ll get a chance for one more at the line. What an effort by Garland. Battling through the foul to get his shot off. No good. Garland. New York leading by eight. Brunson gets the chance the three-pointer. Look at the release. Towns with a quick trigger. Cavaliers have gone 7 to6 from the field here in the fourth. That’s about 43%. Harland finds Mobley. Moy hits the pick for Mitchell. The kick out to Moy. Shot clock at six. Tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Anobi outside lead away and Towns the bucket on the assist by Anobi and that’s now 20 points for Carl Anthony Towns. Here’s Garland. Ellen on pass to Mitchell. Loads it up there for Moley and he uses the glass on the lane. Eight points for Evan Mobley. The defense has been locked in on Mitchell, but he’s done a good job making the right play. Bridges passes to Brunson. Some nice passing by New York here. Puts up a deep three. Evan Mobley with the rebound. Moley’s got nine rebounds now tonight. And here’s Carlin for three. on the three-point shot. Garland’s got six here in this quarter. And Garland can get going from deep, which is why you can’t give him very much space. Brunson against Garland. Towns a screen on Brunson. And there’s another one for the Knicks. It works well there. Not much resistance from the just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. Now here’s Mitchell. Basket good. Mitchell’s got 15 points here in the second half. You can tell Mitchell loves finding shots. He never gets tired of looking. Here’s Brunson. Uses the glass to finish. And the next lead by doing it all night. Why not? Yeah, just keep feeding him down and the defense bro. Well, I guess we could give him credit for not getting discouraged. They’re still playing hard. He’s doing his job out there. It’s too hard against Brunson. shot back by Allen. That reach from Allen, let’s just say it’s tremendous. And that kind of stifling effort on defense needs another look. And guys, that is lock down defense at its finest. It’s going right at the shot and then able to knock it away. 104 left in the fourth quarter. Cleveland’s gone beyond the arc seven times here in the fourth and been successful three times. And then slams it in. Easy for the get up and throw it down. And here’s Brunson. He’ll bring it up for New York. And that’s an intentional foul. on. They trail by six. Times wide open. How good on the three. Not sure they’ve got enough time to save himself. And if everything isn’t thinking about to get through that, the adjustments they’ve made offensively, they’re putting guys in a position now to succeed. It took him a little while to get there. Just goes the show. As long as you persevere, you’ll figure your way. [Music] First line up by front is good both at the line. It’s a six-point. He knows how important it is to converting out the line and building out this lead. 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter find and Carl Anthony Towns pulls it down And so they choose to intentionally foul. First free throw is good. And that makes it a seven-point lead. And so he drops them both. It’s an eight-point game. And the Cavaliers call time here. We’ve got 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter is what you’re saying. And I don’t think they’ll be able to climb out of this hole. And I’m sure coach is encouraging them to play to the final whistle, then they can get out of a deep free and they’re no good. And so here is New York. Brunson outside.
