The Mariners Game 7 Loss Was So Heartbreaking It Had a Seattle Radio Host In Tears
I already made a video recapping Seattle’s game seven loss where I also mentioned J-Rod’s scream of agony after the contest, but I happened to find something on Twitter today that I thought deserved to be shared because it was, in my opinion, a perfect encapsulation of the kind of desolation a true fan feels following something as heartbreaking as the kind of loss the Mariners had. I’m assuming you already know how things went down, but I’ll do just a little brief recap for those who might not have seen it. The Pacific Northwesterners were up three to one entering the bottom of the seventh courtesy of an RBI single and a couple dingers. It was then that the Toronto Blue Jays struck, putting two guys on with nobody out, eventually cashing them in and more when George Springer hit a go-ahead three-run homer following a sacrifice bunt. This was completely deflating for Seattle’s team as they would manage to register another base runner in this one, eventually striking out an order in the ninth inning, ending their season with a bit of a whimper. This led to the scream I mentioned postgame. A sound that summed up pretty much everybody’s feelings in the long-suffering Mariners fan base. This brings us to the radio broadcast I mentioned in the intro with Dave Softy Mer of Softy and Dick Fain on 93.3 KJR having this to say the following day. I’m actually kind of at a little bit of a loss for words. The number one topic, if you will, on my mind and in my brain is just absolute profound sadness. I cannot believe what we saw last night. Everybody has shared a dream together for 49 years in this town and it slipped through our fingers at the worst possible time. Now, I’m going to have included a decent amount of this without a high degree of editing because I think the kind of raw emotion on display here matches a lot of the feelings that fans of long-suffering teams throughout sports have had to deal with. And I did also especially appreciate his point about how it brought the city together. It always sucks to lose a game like that. Believe me, I would know as a Tigers fan who actually attended ALDS game 5 this year. But all we can do is hope that the time for our squad is coming at some point. And in the case of both Detroit and Seattle, it does seem like the pieces are there to be good next year as well. All right, everybody. If you made it this far, I appreciate you watching. And if you did, consider checking out any of these other videos on your screen right now for other content just like this. Also, if you ever see anything you’d like to see me detail in the video, feel free to reach out to my email, [email protected], and if I end up using your idea, I’ll give you a shout out. Thanks for watching. Tough yesterday.

ahh, so that was jrod with the primal scream, I was gonna guess bazardo
😂nah I stopped crying about the Mariners when I was 11. Back in 2001.
DAAAAAAAA MARINERS LOOOOOOOOSEEEEEEEEE
Look at the Braves. They blew it time after time seemingly without end, then 2020 and 2021 happened. Everyone gets their time eventually, just not when you want it or expect it.
lol buddy…
it's a game
settle down
at least ACT like a man, even if you aren't one
I like the blue jays team, don't get me wrong. And they're missing arguably their best hitter.
But I was SO rooting for the mariners this series. One game, one inning away or two away from the organizations first ever world series. Which is honestly criminal considering they've had some absolutely disgusting rosters in their past
This is the first content I've watched post game. I'm still in shock. Sports can be crushing when you care too much. I need to gpo back to being a casual fan again next year.
While I do want to see Seattle hit a World Series, just so we can finally say every team has played in one, Seattle has this nasty habit of collapsing in the worst possible ways. This was the worst thing to happen since tying the record for wins in a season in 2001 and getting steamrolled by the Yankees.
Why do you sound like a 16 year old who eats Uncrutables?
Putting in bazardo in the most important moment in mariner history was almost as bad as a decision as throwing from the 2 yard line
We really have an opportunity to take it home next year. We have the momentum and the heart, we simply need the budget. Mariners have a $122 million budget, Blue Jays $254 million and Dodgers $321 million. We did so much with what we had. At the end of the day, we were surviving with our pitchers, but relying on homeruns for runs isn’t a great strategy. Going down with three doubles in a row is not good. Some of these things are just bad luck, and some can be solved or mitigated with a proper budget. If we want to win we need to start acting like we want to win and not relying so heavily on miracles and heart. Management and owners need to find the dollars. Period.
The Seahawks' blown Super Bowl play isn't worse than this?
That was good.
Minnesota Viking fans have entered the chat.
Damn Seattle was so close
The fact that the cheater Springer did this to us, was so brutal. The guy is a good ball player. But he was complicit in cheating to win a World Series. My heart isn’t broken. It was broken by many sports moments in my 33 years as a Seattle sports fan.
Ugh.
That scream 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Top of the lineup and 2 runners on… this calls for your best pitcher. Wilson blew it.
Once the pain of losing is gone you feel appreciation for what the team accomplished. Just making the playoffs is hard in baseball and the team gave an exciting season with the run to get into the playoffs and then two series that went the distance. It’s always good ball when you got a guy who can hit 60 bombs too
As I life long Toronto (maple Leafs fan) I know this feeling all too well.
It was a great series.
That’s had to be Naylor in the background lol
It's just baseball, folks.
I couldn't lose game seven as I would be happy with wither the Jays or Mariners in the World Series but the fact the Kraken beat the Leafs in Toronto the same night was the best part.
Honestly comparable to the 1998 Vikings losing their shot for their first SB win with arguably the most dominant offense in NFL history. Yes, there were higher scoring teams after them, and yes there were more complete teams before/after them. But at the time in 1998, you can safely say that no one could've matched them. Unfortunately for them in the NFC title game, the Falcons simply found a way and after Gary Anderson (who was perfect in kicking up that point) missed a doable FG, the Falcons got the equalizer and then wore the Vikings D (which sustained injuries in the game) down in OT and their kicker Morten Andersen kicked the game winner to seal the Vikings fate. There was even the 2009 team that were closer to a chance to have a game winning FG in the same NFC title game, but that team wasn't nearly as dominant as the '98 squad.
Sometimes special seasons don't equal a championship. Unfortunately for the 2025 Mariners, that is what it ended up being. So close yet not enough.
Keep your heads up, Mariners fans.
We've been there before. (TX Rangers fans). Choked many times. Especially in 2011.
We finally got one (WS Title) in 2023. Yall can get one in the future too.
Mariners fan would hate me for saying that: what is that big deal about 49 years of agony ? It is not even half of the 108 years in between the Cubs World Series drought. Before 2016, there were actually 4 to 5 generations of Cubs fans that had never seen a World Series champion. Indeed the last NL pennant Cubs won before 2016 was in 1945. That was a 71 year gap.
I am not downplaying the emotion of distraught Mariners fans. But many sports teams consistently breaks their fans hearts. Mariners fans are not the only ones that have World Series dream torn away from them in the last 2 innings.
it's almost better to have a garbage team because then there's no risk of being let down like this in the playoffs
I didn't pay much attention to baseball growing up in Ontario. But i did like the Jays because it's my local team. But this playoffs, i just kind of had to watch because i kept hearing about the hype. And for the first time ever i was actually interested in baseball. I didn't know of the history of most teams in the League. But when i found out a day after that Seattle never even made an appearance in the world series. I actually felt really bad about the win in terms of fan base. Every team that makes it this far deserves to go, and best team wins. But man i do feel bad for Seattle as a whole.
This was one of the best way to end a series! A bunch of bandwagon fans that show the minimal support to their baseball team boo a man that gets hurt, and, in game 7, that same man wins the series with a home run! Absolutely amazing! Unfortunate that the Mariners have the sh******t fan base in the MLB. Seattle hold this L for another year and, hopefully, decades to come! 😂😂😂
There is nothing to cry about. Just making the ALCS is a big achievement and the Mariners put up a good fight.
I turned my phone off and didnt say a word for the rest of the night. Traumatizing
The loons in Seattle deserve this
I thought you were an Angels fan…
They got bigger problems. Like living in a dem s-hole.
At least you still have a team. The Expos were stolen from me. I will NOT watch that relocated team.
I knew it was over when they didn’t walk that M’s killer to have a chance for the basic bases loaded double play. To me it didn’t make sense to bunt with no outs 2 on and the M’s were going to walk anyway which didn’t happen?
As an M’s fan, I felt our World Series win was when Geno hit the grand slam after Cal’s solo tied the game.
It's SBXLIX all over again. People want to say they get it but they don't. They've never seen their team win 116 games and miss the World Series. Just to see their catcher hit 65 total HRs two dozen years of disappointment and failure later and lose in game 7 of the ALCS. It's AGONIZING. It's something hard alcohol can't fix because the Mariners have already put 30 years worth of shots into my gut. And we HAD it. We had a 2-0 lead in the series coming back home. It never should've gotten to games 6 and 7 in Toronto. But we still had hope when it did because we won games 1 and 2 there. And we just…….blew it. In the worst way we've ever blown it before. Worse than 2001. The Yankees had every motivation after 9/11. Even a 116 win team that seemed due. I'm shocked the Yankees didn't win the World Series that year. It's been four days and it still hurts just as bad as it did when it happened. I've been a fan since 1995. When I was 5 years old. I wore 24 in little league because of the Kid. I would be used to it by now but I got caught up in the hype. I bought in and had hope. I guess that's my fault for having hope. Everything just felt different.
I'm tired of us being the Seattle Losers
Mans Game , not for Seattle Sissies . Green Card Gomers . hahahahahaha
Here´s to the next 49 Years . hahaha LOSERS :
pitiful at bat
After that fucked up loss I am done supporting them. This was too hard for me to let go.
I do think the mariners will be back in the playoffs next year
we'll still be good next year 🙂
As a Vancouver Canucks fan. I feel that…
But, as I’m also a Blue Jays fan. I’m happy with game 7 🇨🇦
Thanks for showing the raw emotion that surrounds the M’s fanbase. This was a rough one to watch and swallow through
Thanks for another season of highlighting the nuances of all our favorite sport, the good, the bad, the ugly, but mostly the stuff that gets by most casual viewers. My favorite ball channel. Your work is greatly appreciated! ✌️🤟
