Stolarz BLASTS Leafs Stars… This is ridiculous | Toronto Maple Leafs News
There’s no way that he just said this is Anthony Stallars following was a ridiculous loss put the Leafs on blast. We heard some things in a game filled with Anthony Stallars getting hit. His players not standing up for him. Lazy hockey Stallers said something that absolutely had to be said. And for the first time in a very long time, Leaf’s goalender just came out and absolutely ripped into his own team. team. I’m going to break down the comments and discuss what this means as the Leafs have to prepare for another game here in a couple of days. But before we get into all that, you’re going to want to stay tuned to the Yanks. This is a juicy one. Quick reminder, hit that subscribe button if you guys are enjoying the daily content. Darius, obviously you weren’t there for the stream last night. I was. It was a pretty I mean, the game itself was pretty rough. We saw a lot like rough both physically and of course on the the box score. They lost the game in overtime. They managed to salvage a point, but the bigger story line was a the team not really standing up for Anthony Solar continually getting run in the crease. Stler had to, you know, really defend himself, flip over the net and stuff like that. The biggest story line of this was Stallar absolutely calling out the team for the first time in a I mean his lease tenure at least. So, let’s dive into it. I thought the first two periods we kind of let them walk all over us. They just outworked us, plain and simple. Enough is enough. We’ve got to start picking it up here. and he dives into a bunch of different things. I mean, he was talking about how he was frustrated, how the Leafs were lazy a little bit. He didn’t say lazy directly, but they were, you know, implying that they were he was lazy in the first period. They haven’t been playing spirited, inspired hockey. And he says here, maybe we can take a page out of their book and start getting to the net. I mean, for us, we like to go low to high and shoot, but for their goalie, it’s like playing catch in the yard. You’re seeing everything and we’re not making it difficult. Enough’s enough, and we’ve kind of got to start picking it up here. very rare you get anything remotely close to this in a postgame interview. Darus, what are your thoughts? Yeah, I think it’s absolutely inexcusable. We started noticing this with the Toronto Maple Leafs, I guess, a couple years ago at this point or really when the core four, yes, I’m going to say it. The core four took over, I guess, ownership of the team once JVR and Bozac and guys like that left, you really started to see this kind of, you know, attitude come through or lack thereof an actual attitude. And Stlars is starting to get mad. And listen, he threw the net off and it was ridiculous, right? You can see it since the whole Sam Bennett thing happened last playoffs. It, you know, other teams are running Anthony Stallars, right? They’re trying to take advantage of that because they know that the Leafs are not going to do anything about it. It happened the first game of this season, happened a couple games ago, and then it happened twice in last night’s game against Seattle, and it’s absolutely ridiculous. And Stallars throws the net off. If he comes down with the blocker there, he’s getting suspended, right? So, he knows in his head he’s just trying to start something. And I think most Lee fans sitting on their couch, I know I did, felt something in that moment. Like, give them a shot. Do something. Start a brawl because it’s ridiculous. They’re taking liberties and they’re making a mockery of you and you’re doing nothing about it. And Brandon Carlo came out and had his reasoning for why he didn’t jump in. He said, “We knew that we were getting the power play and we’re gonna go to work on the power play and if I retaliated, they would take me too and it’d be four.” Guess what, Brandon? Your power play sucks. So, it doesn’t matter. start sending a message and say, you know, we’re not going to stand up for this. Stop taking liberties against us or every team in the league is going to continue to do it. So, I think it’s ridiculous. I’m 100% with Stolars here. I love when players do this because too many times players feel like they can’t do this if they’re not wearing a letter. I like how your goalender has now come out and said, “Listen, I’m clearly the one who’s the best right now. I’m the only reason we’re in games. Make no mistake about it. And now I’m challenging all of you to be better in this way.” And not just that way, the physicality way, you know, just caring and the effort. Seattle just outworked them in this game. And it’s absolutely ridiculous to me. Yeah. I mean, he went on to say some more things. Thought the first two periods kind of let them walk all over us. They just outworked us, plain and simple. And Stallars has been the one guy who I mean, you look at the box score a lot of those one of the goal wasn’t his fault at all. Brandon Carlo cross checked someone into Stallars and couldn’t even see it. I mean, I’m with him here. I mean, the game was uninspired. They didn’t really play great. I mean, they were lucky to get one point out of it. Most of that was because of Anthony Stler and his ability to keep, you know, the craziness out of the out of the net there. And you see here, Sters has a cup. He knows how you need to play to get to the top of the mountain. It is early. Like, I’m not panicking on the season or necessarily, you know, saying that the Leafs is over and all these different things, but this was a fantastic call out by Anthony Solers. And it almost for the first time and it’s very rare you see this you’re kind of he said exactly what fans are thinking whether it be Brandon Carlo whether it just be even Morgan Riley playing soft defensively sometimes there’s so many things he went on and kept going by the way so let’s dive into some more of them how many times how many time points are we going to leave out there being here last year and that was a bit of a misquote basically how many points are they going to leave in the table by only getting one and not two in the overtime loss being here last year and seeing how far we’re able to go the potential is there we have the skill we have the grit we have the grind it’s frustrating that we just can’t put it together right now. I mean, we saw a lot of different plays. You see one here, Darius. There’s a lot of different things happening. What are your thoughts on all the it get just crazier and crazier. I fully respect Solars even more now. Let’s not forget he’s locked up on a contract the next three years. So, I’m sure he wants to get this out of the way early. Yeah, and I’m glad that they signed guys. Brad Living went out and signed guys that have won the Stanley Cup. So, you could have moments like this where a guy who’s been there and done that comes out and says, “We’re not playing well enough. You need to bring it to another level.” And yes, it’s six games into the season, but it’s six games into the season. This is not the first game of the season. You’re about to see all these teams hit their stride and, you know, really separate themselves, right? By American Thanksgiving, we’re going to know who’s going to make the playoffs for the most part and who’s not, right? So, you got to get going here and start closing out games. And I don’t mind games being close if they pull it out and they work hard, right? That’s fine. I’m happy with that team because that’s what the playoffs are, not this, right? You got outworked. And the it goes back to the whole give an F meter that they just, you know, they they don’t have it. They don’t have it. I don’t understand what it is. And the leadership group has to find it quickly and tell the rest of the guys this is how we got to play right. And this play, you know, the one I thought should have been called back the goal because clearly he fell into the goalender, the Marchment one is a whole different story, but I think he clearly, you know, was being pushed out of the way and then fell into Anthony Stolars. Thought that was ridiculous. So all night they were taking liberties. It wasn’t just the one time, it was twice. And then in overtime, you leave your goalie out to hang a couple times and then it burns you finally on that third time. So, it’s it’s ridiculous to me. I think the team needs they absolutely need to lock in, especially in this way. Start fighting for one another cuz if you don’t have that, you won’t find success in the playoffs. You need every single one of those guys on that bench locked in and fighting for each other and in alignment with each other. So, they need to find that now because a lot of these guys, like Stallar said, have been here for a long time. Yeah, obviously you can see Carlo pushing him in. Whether he fell on him, I Burbay didn’t challenge. Um, weird play by Carlo, but also I understand what he was trying to do. And if he doesn’t hit off Morgan Riley, it probably doesn’t go in the net. So, it is what it is. They obviously give up the goal in overtime there and uh they should have not given up that goal, but it is what it is. It it had multiple chances to win this game. Dakota Joshua could have he looked really good, so I don’t want to go too hard against him, but he had a goal he should have hit and uh very very disappointing. One quick thing before I wrap up here. you covered it. Brennan Carlo on the perspective of not stepping in as a side referee call a penalty. You don’t want to do too much to retaliate. But yeah, there’s a certain extent once you see Stole get up and angry too. You want to try and give him a shot. But overall, you want to go on the power play as well. So, it’s a weird area to give in. But overall, I think the power play is a useful thing in that situation. So, you already have your thoughts on this. I mean, ultimately, usually that is correct. Their power play is a whole another qu I mean, it’s horrible, right? And it’s been really bad for a while now and hasn’t been good in the core four era. The core for error is over. Now it’s not good in the first year thus far without Mitch Mara. So it is what it is. Blame whoever you want. One person I’m not going to blame is Anthony Solars. I love what he said here. He threw everyone not under the bus but into the spotlight. And hopefully they can step up on chooser.

Stolarz is a winner and his teammates are losers
And to add… I watched the replay when Carlo rammed that guy into Stolarz. That oddly looked like it was intentional. Curious if he doesn't like Stolarz mouth on the ice telling these guys what to do so he was sending a message. If so, that's petty and very f up. In the heat of the moment ppl can lose temper but I really thought that play looked very atypical man. I really did not like Carlo's behavior and response on this.
Wrong guy is captain. Team is slow. Overrated. Going no where.
Stolarz signs a team friendly extension and they repay his loyalty by hanging him out to dry the first time he gets steamroller. He should go to the manager and coach and say, "protect me or TRADE me !" He won't have any trouble finding another job with a 'real' team!
Matthews is NOT captain material!!
Too many decades of losing! This organization is rot from the top down. Lazy, over paid losers ~ good luck!!
Goalies can't wear a letter. The best ones are vocal leaders. We are very lucky to have stollie.
If something happens to Stolartz with Wall out, this could become a very scary scenario for the Leafs. No excuses, someone should of dropped the gloves and sent a message that FAFO!
Team has no balls
Welp, gen Z players make too much money, sit back and collect a paycheck. Gone are the days of aggression. NHL just aint the same anymore.
This has been the Leafs game plan since they fired Clark
Pay Big Money to some Floaters the Management prefer to be the Stars, then build a Team around them to make sure the Floaters get all the Points
Time for the Leafs to dump their Prefered Player Plan and hire a real Team
This is why we r stuck w 3 on 3 OT , the Management want their Floaters to be the Stars, Not U Common Canadian Players
We , the NHL, control who is going to be the Star in this League
I watched that game lase night & Anthony Stolarz was great but he has NO team in front of him…. come on it reminds me of last year's play off. No GUTS & definitely NO glory.
The Toronto Gentle Giants
Stolarz thinks he wins games all by himself….the team said ok , show us.
Good for Stollarz for saying it. This team was supposed to be a lot tougher to play against this year. Instead guys are running Stollarz every chance they get and no ome does a thing.. Matthews is starting to look like a very weak leader. And I HATE saying that.. But if someone runs your goalie, the rest of the game should be a blood bath… Look at the preseason game the Sens ans Habs had.. Tampa and Florida had.. How can they have that reaction to each other but we don't.. When our most critical player is getting run? It's totally unacceptable and makes me lose all hope for this group.. Years ago, I stopped watching because of stuff like this.. If we don't start seeing a major response, I'll be turning off the Leafs!
i watched the highlights for a bit, and it looked silly how they were running stolarz like that. I do not like trying to injure a goalie, not even in a cup final or something
On the 3rd Seattle Goal, Carlo did not push the Kraken player out from infront of the net and just cross checked him into Stolarz. Carlo did a poor job of boxing out and needs to do better at pushing the offensive player away from the net with his positioning.
Mathews doesn't have the same fire since they put a C on his sweater… useless shifts on the ice !! ……
Cowan. Minton. Knies. Stay. The rest, later for prospects and picks. Start from scratch. Its not a skill problem. Its an attitude problem. They are entitled and they dont care. 10 yrs in the making. Its all about the $.
Or like the team captain, Matthews, watching a Red Wing cheap shot Cowan, the 19 year old rookie, and skate away?!
What message does that send the team? I'm not asking him to be Muhammad Ali, just be mad, scrum the guy. But shrug and skate away? wft?
Leaf fan but boy Vegas looking good last game 6-1 two fights. 2 goals from Mitch
When are people going to understand that a soft American should not be the captain of the Leafs.
I've been saying for several years, 'Trade Matthews, he's a great hockey player, and the Leafs could get tons for him and build a serious playoff team that could win the Stanley Cup.
It's a team of loosers…always was, always will 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Everybody must have killer instinct. Its from captain down to cook must play with heart and soul.
Well I see the experts are on here declaring doomsday for the Maple Leafs . The Oilers lost to the Devil's yesterday and Detroit today . You don't hear a lot of negative talk about their loses . Nylander has more points than McDavid yet Willie is being brutally attacked . For heaven's sake people chill out . This site is not helping .
honestly, get rid of all these panzy, soft players. bring some leadership and other players that has some toughness and stick up for each other. not about winning a fight, it's about sticking up for your teammates. all these guys are gutless, from top to bottom. Jake McCabe is the only player i see that sticks up for his teammates.
Nothing will change unless you get rid of the most uninspiring, disengaged player on the team…#34. The guy lacks heart and looks disinterested at the best of times.
Going nowhere,1 more year.
It's each player trying to pump up his time.
The Leafs have enough Beef to play a rock'em sock'em hockey. Why management and coaching is against this is beyond me. As the players, I would say F*ck You to coaching and management if it meant war night in and night out. So in other words…. FINISH YOUR CHECKS, GRIND THE PUCKS, FIGHT THEM ALL, BLOCK SHOTS AND THEN SCORE !!!
Lorentz, knies, Domi, tanev, Reilly, Dakota, Roy are all guys who could have dropped the gloves. I love my leafs I do but this team is the biggest bunch and panzys I have ever seen. Why get rid of reeves when we need a guy like reeves on the ice what about all the pick ups the leafs got that were suppose to drop the gloves. I don’t blame storlaz he’s the only one on the team who’s awake right now holyyy
Bunch of softies
we need clark #17 captain crunch why did they go out and get all the big guys
To everyone clamoring about the captain, this is not a captain issue its clearly a coaching issue.
Stolarz is right, and seems to have more leadership charisma than the "captain."
Nice to see that somebody telling it how it is good on 41. It's time to call on the team to play harder and tougher.
I see this team and I don't see a tough guy that would step up and answer that situation.
Not even team toughest to stand up for one an other
That's really to bad winning teams do.
He isn't wrong, this team still soft..
Berube sucks, he’s even worse than Keefe in calling out the team, Stolie did what Berube should’ve done, call the team out, Berube is way to careful in what he says to the media and about his players, where’s the accountability that everyone thought he would bring as a coach, he doesn’t bench any of his top players when they’re stinking the joint out, instead he plays cks on Cowan for making rookie mistakes.
If we need the power play so badly that we can’t retaliate when someone runs our goalie than there’s clearly an issue with lack of scoring.
It's about time a Leaf goalie has spoken up about the Nancy's playing in front of him. stolarz gets knocked around players falling on him and his teammates are literally just standing there watching
if this was the Leafs of the 80s 90s and 2000s Wendell Clark Tie Domi or Darcy Tucker would be all over any player that got anywhere near their goalie
I am not surprised. Year after year, same thing.
Marner infected Nylander before he left.
Guys standing around pussyfooting all over the ice.
Nylander, and the rest.
Play some effing defense, and let's see some heart for f sakes.
Well, I can’t say I blame him. I mean, you know some players need to wake up and some players need to protect him. I mean he’s a big guy, but he’s the bread-and-butter of the team come on his defence may need to wake up.
And he’s right I mean we we graduate to a point out of it but he’s 100% right
It’s pathetic that the goalie had to do it. You know I feel sorry for stores I mean, like I said the rest of the team and the defenceman need to wake up wake up.
Boys you need to toughen up throw the body around finish the hits keep all the players away from you're tendy time and time again we allow teams to run our tendy and we choose to do nothing get it together boys
Leafs are on their way back to the golf course!!! Reservations already booked!!
I'm 60 so I know for a fact…. last time Leafs had any heart was when their Captain was named Killer.
Absolutely unacceptable, in all mt years watching NHL hockey have I ever seen a team not stand up for their goalie. START PUNCHING GUYS OUT TORONTO
as long as they have Mathews they will go nowhere no guts no grit wimps
