ESPN NFL LIVE | Dan Orlovsky BLOWN AWAY By How ELITE Seattle Seahawks Have Been
the game. What’s up to you about Seattle’s offense? Um, right now watching JSN is like watching a young Devonte Adams. You know, when when Devonte was cooking at his best, it was off the line of scrimmage destroyed people at the top of the routes. Destroyed people and just had that nuance to his game that he knew how to attack leverages and it looked like he was wide open every rep. I mean, these are elite corners that he was working against. 24 Stingley’s an allp pro and he got the better of him for the majority of the night and just watching, you know, the threelevel ability of him to consistently win versus leverage and then do something with the ball in his hands and how effortless it looks. This is a complete football team. The the play that stood out to me was the Sam Darnold fumble touchdown. JSN got mad right after it. It was like and our producers going, “Why does he get mad?” I said, “He wants him to throw the ball every play.” And he’s like, “Wasn’t covered.” And I said, “Those guys don’t think they are.” They came back the very first play and threw that ball down the left sideline to them. It’s It’s that right now where it’s like, “Hey, I don’t think you’re covered ever. I just got to make a good enough throw.” Yeah. Mina, what about the other side of the ball? Now, now we get to talk about Seattle’s defense. I mean, story of the game for me. Um, I thought it was a masterclass in pressure and coverage working together. They had 10 pass breakups, which is the most of any defense by any game in any game this season. Happened for a number of reasons. One was the pressure. I mean, Mike McDonald’s so diabolical. It was mostly a fourman rush, but the things he does with Sims, stunts, they were getting after it. And CJ Strad having to check it down. You saw guys rallying to the football. That’s how you get some of these pass breakups. Uh, I thought they did a fantastic job of taking away Straoud’s throwing lanes over the middle of the field on those inbreakers. The first pass breakup was a was a simulated pressure. Boy, Mafi was at the line of scrimmage, dropped, took away the slant. I mean, Warrior had a great one, too. And then finally, separate from the scheme, I just thought the corners were amazing in this game, Josh and Tariq Woolen. Super sticky. Some of those pass breakups were just go balls, man coverage. So Wan’s a beast. The scariest part, by the way, is they didn’t have Deon Witherspoon and Julian Love. This is one of the best defenses in the NFL. Let me hit you something. Mike McDonald was talking about Nicki Minwari, and he said so many offenses in the NFL right now, all they do is kick the ball to the perimeter and get cheap yards because they’re not big enough out there. He’s like that that that’s the thing that he takes away for us defensively. He’s so big and physical. Offenses can’t just throw the ball to the sideline and get three or four cheap yards. He’s Kyle Hamilton. Exactly. Or bigger. The the corners you mentioned, y’all, the most beautiful defense is being played by Seattle right now because it’s tied to rush. And these corners can be super aggressive because the timing that you have to get the ball out of your hand is insane. And it’s coming from the interior with Leonard Williams and Jiren Weed. Maf is having a phenomenal job. And then Mike McDaniel, Mike McDonald, I’m sorry, is only pressuring when he wants to. You look at this game against against the Texans, there was never a need for him to bring extra rushers or never a need to play a different type of coverage. And it speaks to not only the ability of these guys up front in the rush, but it also speaks to the physicality in which they play with. And I think that sometimes because we in such a pass heavy game and we love the the track meets on the outside, the physicality in which Seattle plays with when they get to the ball and when they rush the passer. It’s not just trying to swim around people. It’s bull rushing intentionally. It’s also the the deepest defensive line that too six or seven guys that does not change when guys come. I love watching them play. But we also loved Baltimore when he was calling that defense watching those guys play. One of the Yep. I want to hide that like this for so many different reasons, but two main ones. I was so blown away by Collins take with the Seattle Seahawks after watching that game and how he was just like, uh, this team isn’t ready. They’re not good. He kicked him out of the out of his herd hierarchy, out of his top 10. And I and I just I couldn’t believe like Sam’s too inconsistent and this and that. And now you hear like Orski who was actually at the game like literally at the game call it the game and he just can’t say anything but positives. It’s just it’s just it’s I find it fascinating how people can watch the same game and have such different perspectives. was like I I I was blown away. I was thinking Colin was going to give a little bit more of a of a positive Seattle take, but he he kind of went I don’t want to say scorched earth, but he was just like, I’m I’m off Seattle now. And I’m like, what? That that’s not what this game showed us at all. So, I was I was happy that I came across this clip. Um because it’s just it’s what I’ve been looking for. Honestly, it’s been so hard to find like actual grounded nuance takes on the Seattle Seahawks and obviously I tried my best. Um but you know um I I can only do so much. So the other thing though is this. You hear about Jackson Smith and Jigba getting upset but like in a positive way. Obviously you see the defense and it’s so funny because they talked about this where it’s just like the tackling, the intensity, the physicality. Before he started saying that, I’m thinking to myself, you know, really what stands out to me about this team, if I can really just take a step back and just be and just kind of summarize it in the most basic, elementary, fundamental way possible, it I just I just think of like the Matrix meme where it’s like he’s starting to believe. This team is starting to believe and you’re getting you’re you’re getting examples of that everywhere. Just the two examples that they gave us here signifies that Jackson Smith and Jigma engaged immediately like, “Hey, let’s fix this.” That we this that what just happened didn’t need to happen. Let’s fix this. And then literally next drive, boom, big time pass down the sideline and just an absolute just breathtakingly gorgeous pass that no one will ever talk about because, you know, because it wasn’t a 75 yard touchdown pass. um identified the problem, cared about the identified the problem, cared about the problem, and then found a solution to the problem. Snap. Snap. Snap. And then also now the example of how engaged this defense is. It’s because they care. It’s because they believe. It’s because they know that they are a team that can actually accomplish something to me. I This is why I do my tears the way I do my tears because the Seattle Seahawks are clearly a top team. They’re clearly a top team. The only reason why you doubt that is because it’s Sam Darnold and McDonald and the Seattle Se that that it’s not the names and the faces and the coaches and the players that we’ve known for like the last three, four, five years. The Eagles just won the Super Bowl. U Patrick Mahomes is Patrick Mahomes. Josh Allen is Josh. Lamar is Lamar. You know, Shanahan is Shanahan. McVey is McVey, you know, like and on and on we go. And it’s just like recognize what we see here. Like this is special. Jackson Smith and Sam Darnold right now is special. This defense is special. It ju It just is. It just is. And I and I and it’s it’s just it’s it’s actually kind of a borderline tragedy that we’re so obsessed with what we’ve already seen, which is why there’s still the hyperfocus on um you know, great teams and good teams like the Eagles and the Chiefs and whatnot, but we can’t look beyond that. We can’t get out of our own ways and accept the Indianapolis Colts look really awesome. Hey, the New England Patriots, like, hey, I know it’s a young quarterback, but like, hey, their quarterback’s been playing great. Sam Darnold, uh, for whatever reason, we’re obsess we’re obsessed with the the pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin. Uh, looking pretty awesome right now. Looking pretty awesome. Uh, following up a season where he was unbelievable the year before that, right? With a defensive coach who’s proven himself not only as a coordinator, but also as a head coach now as well. Um, and again, it’s not like this this team is perfect. It’s not like this team is absolutely complete, although I’d make the argument no team is right now. Uh, and it doesn’t feel like any team this season will be. So, like there there’s absolute things, you know, absolutely things that this team needs to work through undeniably. You know, the play call, you know, which we discussed and whatnot, but it’s just like I find it so confusing. I mean, I’m not really confusing because I just explained why, but like find it so absurd that you don’t get just such strong positive takes about what we’re witnessing with the Seattle. They’re 5-2 and you would think that they’re like a three and three team or something, you know, that they’re they’re like six and seven, like they beat a good team, they lost to a bunch of bad teams, then they were real close. They played like a real great game, but they ended up losing against a great team, right? You know, they played this great game, but they like they came up short against the Detroit Lions from last year or something, right? Like you would think like, yeah, they’re good. They’ve had some interesting moments and a little bit of juice there and they’re like, “Yeah, they’re they’re a feisty team.” It’s like, “No, they’re five and two. They’re a top team in the NFL. Their defense has been great. Their offense has been great. Their weapons have been great. Their quarterback has been great. Their coaching has been great. Like I like it’s just great, great, great, great, great, great.” So, like I I I I don’t I don’t know what we’re missing here. That’s why it’s like my mind can only go to of like it’s because we’re just obsessed with the names and the faces that we that we’ve known, which I get. It’s comforting. I I I’ll I’ll admit this as someone who just preached and just praised the Seattle Seahawks as much as I possibly could. I get it. If you forced me right now and said, “Who do you have more faith in? Sam Darnold and Clint Kubak or Matthew Stafford and Shawn McVey?” I’m like, “Yeah, Shawn McVey and Matthew Stafford. You know, you have to pick one between, you know, between the two of them. Who do you want as your coach quarterback duo in the in the playoffs right now?” I’m like, “Yeah, sure. I get it.” Right? Like I I know who they are, right? Josh Allen isn’t having the best season of his career right now. And it’s like, who are you going to pick, Josh Allen or Sam Dur right now? It’s like, yeah, I’m still going to go lean on Josh Allen. So, I I I do I get it. I I I get that feeling, but I think sometimes you have to tiptoe around it. Sometimes you have to navigate around it and really appreciate what you’re seeing. Um, and it’s just been such a joy to be able to watch this team. And again, I I think actually kind of last year is such a perfect example because the Seahawks were kind of that team that they kind of pretty much were treating that they are this year where they’re like, “Yeah, they got a little juice. They got a little fight in them.” Like honestly, ironically, they kind of did have a a close game against Lions. The score ended up I, if memory serves me correctly, didn’t end up necessarily being uh indicative of how that game unfolded, but there were like moments when you were like, “All right, Seahawks might make this a game.” It got weird with some of the trick plays and like Jared Goff catching some, but you were like, “All right, you know, like you you’re watching that game and you’re like, I I can see the Seahawks, you know, make a little bit of noise here. They’re they’re they’re a feisty team, right? Can they hang with the Detroit Lions?” Like, probably not, but like could they maybe in in a winner take all playoff game? Like, yeah. You know, they’d have a puncher chance. And like that’s what it’s being treated as this year. And to me, it’s clearly different. To me, it’s clearly different. clearly clearly different. Um, and it’s funny, ironically, I’m just reminded of this because obviously I’ve been so pro- Seattle this season and, you know, I’ve been so grateful for all the fans and and the subscribers from the from the Seahawks. You guys have, you know, absolutely showed up, added thousands of subscribers and I just got, you know, nothing but gratitude and just ask that you all keep doing it. Um, and it reminds me of how last season I was just like, yeah, I don’t, you know, I was like, I they got some juice. I pretty much, yeah, they got some juice. They’re interesting, but like, you know, I don’t know if they’re going to be able to keep up. And some Seattle Seattle Seahawks fans were upset. They’re like, “No, you don’t know. You don’t know. You don’t know.” And it’s just like, you know, I kind of knew, I guess. And now this year, I’m saying, “No, this is legit. This is real. Like, this is different. I’m telling y’all, this is different.” And I feel like I I feel like I’m the person in the beginning of uh, you know, of like a natural disaster meeting. I’m the scientist and I’m like banging on the wall and I’m just like, “You don’t understand. There’s a meteor coming.” And they’re like, “Oh, this guy, he got fired from his job as at a he hasn’t been a professor in 10 years. He’s, you know, he’s a disgrace professor. Don’t listen to him.” And I’m like, “No, trust me. I’m telling you. I’m telling you, it’s not a conspiracy theory.” Um, that’s what it feels like cuz I’m just like, “I don’t understand.” You know, it’s just like I’m going to wear a shirt that says like, “Ask me about the Seattle Seahawks.” Um, I it’s just it’s just crazy. So, it it was a a welcome a welcoming sight to hear them just be like, “This team is for real. This team is legit.” And it’s like, “Yes. Yes, they are. Yes, they are. Yes, they are.” I’m just bummed that they got to buy now. I mean, it’s a good time. Then they play the uh what is it? The Commanders. Um yeah, they play the Commanders November 2nd, Sunday night. That’ll be an interesting game because um Jaden Daniels, I don’t know if he’s going to be playing. He’s already out for the Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Either way, even if he’s back, you know, he hasn’t played a lot of football this season. Then, of course, you got the Cardinals, the Rams, Titans, Vikings. I mean like you know this schedule even if we give them even if we just say they’re going to lose the tough games which again I’m not not predicting they will right but let’s just say they lose all the hard games the games that should be you know more difficult and win all the easy ones they have a top record in the NFL right even if they lose to the even if we say they lose to the Rams both times which again not a prediction not saying they won’t beat the Rams Can’t emphasize that enough obviously as I just went on a whole rant as to how great I think the Seahawks are. It’s like even if they just lose those games, but you know, beat the Titans, beat the Cardinals, beat the Vikings, uh, you know, beat the Panthers, beat the Falcon, like it’s just like it’s all right there. It’s it’s all right there for them this season, man. It is all right there. And it is actually cool because the way how their season is now um you know obviously obviously playing the Rams and whatnot like and the Colts like you there there’s still a handful of other barometer games specifically the Rams um definitely the Colts and then even some of these other kind of inbetweeners the Falcons the 49ers will be interesting to see what they look like by by the end of the season. Who knows who what starters are even playing? Who knows how much that game even matters. Um, you know, uh, yeah, this is a great schedule to to round out this season post buy. This is a great schedule. There’s a lot of wins that you should be coming away with. And if you’re a legitimately great team, then there’s a ton then there’s true wins here. Again, even if you split a couple of, you know, because technically their toughest games in theory will be the Rams twice, the 49ers, and the Colts, right? That’s four games. Even if you just split those games, it’s like, okay, you you take that because again, you can’t expect to win every single uh tough game as the Seahawks have already learned this season alone. Um that still puts you in a tremendous position, a tremendous position. And then it’ll be interesting to see the rest of how the how the rest of the NFL, you know, specifically the NFC, what everyone else’s record is, you know, how many more losses do the Eagles have in them, the Bucks, the 49ers, uh the Lions, the Packers, like the the Seahawks will be right there for a top seed. you know, I I I don’t know if it’ll be officially the number one seed. Um, but they’ll they’ll they’ll be in a pretty nice position to at least legitimately obviously contend for the division. And of course, if they win the division, uh, should be an up, you know, a somewhat higher seed, which then if there is anything that gets a little crazy in the playoffs, you get homefield advantage, which I don’t know if the Seahawks want because they seem to be a lot better on the road. So maybe they should just be the seven seed uh and just be wild card and just, you know, do that. May maybe that’ll be better for Seattle. Um but yeah, man, it would it would something special is happening this season. It’s a meteor. It’s coming. But those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about the Seattle Seahawks? um how impressed were you um with their play um both offensively and defensively? Uh let me know in the comments below. If this is a bad seahawks game… then they are a top 5 team. If they figure out how to run the ball better, the season is over for the rest of the nfl.
And we don't have everyone on defense just imagine when it comes back after biyo week defense gonna just get even better
Darnold had his worst game so far, and it was a decent outing. Take into account how stout the Texans defense is supposed to be and you have a B- game.
Welcome to covering southern Alaska. Always under valued.
We need more nfl live clips
Te game was frustrating because it genuinely looked like they didn’t take this game seriously from an offensive standpoint
Valid rant
Who takes Colin seriously? I don't.
Keep talking about what you’re seeing man. The main stream narrative will catch up. And so will those who rely on them to form their opinions.
We can beat any team in the NFL trust and you will believe
seattle is the best team in the NFL right now. No ty on josh allen
How bout some love for those throws by Darnold like damn
That last game was an emotional rollercoaster, and proves we are legitimate superbowl contenders, had strong offensive performance against one of the best defenses in the league, and working up the ranks to being the best defense in the league. Sky's the limit, cause that win, was the Seahawks only playing like 75% power. There's so much room for improvement and we still won solidly.
They are 2nd youngest team in nfl darnold the veteran at 27
i get what you're saying … what's missing and why there is still this sentiment about the Hawks is – they lost to the Niners. They win that game and it's an entirely different vibe with the media.
Colin has so many bad takes, remember when he was all over Baker Mayfield and now, he loves him? It's ridiculous. I don't know what is so hard to understand about this game, Seattle played (at times) HORRIBLE on offense. Questionable play calls, conservative and also overly aggressive, 4 damn turnovers — and the game wasn't even really close. I know the final score is a one score game, but anyone who would have watched would agree that Seattle dominated. We simultaneously should have lost that game for our own failures and should have blown them out. You know what that means? It means the other team literally doesn't matter, if we lose the game it has nothing to do with getting beat by a better team. That is how you know a team is ready, they are equal or better than their competition.
Don’t be one of those typical delusional fans. There’s a reason why people don’t like Sam. Everything else about the Seahawks is great. The coach the defense the offense is just the quarterback is a little shaky. We always got to hold our breath with Sam Darnold
I’m with you on Colin’s take. It was dumb we had 4 turnovers and still dominated to me that goes the other way
I appreciate you letting them talk then reacting. My least favorite videos are the constant pausing by people. Great to let them breathe a bit.
Darnold + JSN = Montona + Rice?
A What If : Wilson + Largent or Darnold + Largent ? Both of those having the LOB as the defense. Zorn + Largent with LOB that would be Extremely Interesting.
For all the youngsters out there that dont get why the national media is perpetually confused about seattle sports,… its called east coast bias. Its just built into our dna. Lambardi #2 is on notice
Don't quit your day job this video reallly blows chunks of crappola!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think listening to colin or rich eisen is bad for your mental growth.
