Cowboys Report: Live News & Rumors + Q&A w/ Tom Downey (Oct. 23rd)

Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Welcome back into the Cowboys Report. I am Tom Downey, producer Aiden. Behind the scenes on today’s live show, we’ll go through all the latest on the Dallas Cowboys as we rapidly approach week eight of the NFL season with Thursday Night Football getting going tonight. And we’re less than two weeks away from the NFL trade deadline. Do you think the Cowboys will make a trade before this year’s deadline? Why for yes and for no? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. And in the pinned at the pin poll, in the pin poll, on the pin pole, whatever it is, why for yes, N for no. 75% uh 74 kind of fluctuating back and forth there. Uh Vinnie says yes, not a huge one. That might be the answer that it ends up being. And also define huge. Um you know, Crosby Hendrickson caliber trade I don’t think is going to happen period in the NFL. Does someone in like the maybe Germaine Johnson which feels a little bit less unl likely today. Uh and the Jaylen Phillips bucket make a little bit more sense. I I am I think there is a the possibility of that. I’m also very curious like what it looks like etc. Uh, so will the Cowboys make a trade with the deadline, Y for yes, N for no? Let me know in the comments of today’s video. 73% now voting Y for yes. So, there remains some fluctuation ongoing in those. I think honestly maybe like a decent number for like what the percent chance the deal ends up happening is. I do think in general the Cowboys are I think they’ve learned some lessons and they’re a little bit more playing it close to the vest they have in the past where like they’ve straight up said they were about to make a deal and then they do a deal. I I do think that them saying we haven’t called anybody. I think that’s a little bit more posturing this time around. I think that’s a little bit more posturing than it’s been in the past. Abra $5 super chat into our raffle today. Thank you my friend. Uh, Shotti needs to stay aggressive on offense and not give the Broncos an inch. 43, 33, 87, and 88 should be the centerpiece and focus of this offense. I think you think that’s absolutely the path this team is going to pursue. It’s going to be those three guys as the four guys, I should say, as the main focal point and then Cavonte Turpin gets involved with some of his other stuff there and occasional targets and touches for other guys, breathers for the, you know, backup running back, etc. Um, Denver’s a tough matchup that that’s just that that’s a top five defense in the NFL. Like it’s, you know, this is a great, this is maybe a great game of like, hey, the other team gets paid, too. And, you know, they’ve got the best corner in football, one of the best pass rush duos in football despite not being the biggest household names. It’s, it is not going to be an easy test. You need your defense to show up and actually contribute. Otherwise, I I don’t know if this is the type of game that the quarterback can just go out there and win by himself. Like, I I don’t know if this is that that type of matchup there. So, I do agree. You need you need points in this one. Um, and get yourself that chance to let Aubrey hit a 75 yard field goal. 70 70 yard field. How about that? Not Jeremy Chugs’ burner. If the Cowboys can’t resign Pickicket in the offseason somehow, upside down smiley face, which is like the sign of death. Uh, what’s the compensation for a tag and trade? Great question. Um, I don’t know. I think at minimum you’d be asking for a three. And I I think you’d be able to get that that three back. Frankly, I’d be a little bit surprised if it wasn’t at least a two. The receiver trademark in general for years now has been super weird. Um, you know, DK Mechaf goes for a two, George Pickkins goes for a three. I’m also old enough to remember when Muhammad Senu went for a two. The receiver market is often kind of wonky. There are some good prospects this year. Jordan Tyson, Mai Lemon, um, Carell Tate or Chris Bell if you like him out of Louisville are all very intriguing prospects. I don’t know if any of them have the same ceiling of what we’ve seen so far from George Pickkins. You also got to pay in big money. So I think two, three, somewhere in that bucket is going to be realistic. Um, but I also know that you can afford to pay him. So you don’t you shouldn’t have to choose unless you bungle this a little bit. GKD records one or two stops a game away from being five and two at minimum. Yes. I I would also say you’re, you know, one or two nonstops away or, you know, on either side of the ball and really I think one one or two nonscoring drives away from, you know, having a worse record um and being two and five. So, it it does kind of play out both ways. Over kind of a longer stretch of time, you’re normally going to go around 500 in 500 games. There there are some exceptions, but normally you’re going to go around 500. This year you have the loss against the Eagles, the loss against the Panthers, and the tie against the Packers. You also have beaten the Giants. So, you know, you’re a little bit negative on that side. You should get another win, give or take, on that front in the future. Jonathan C, trade a first for Burns or a second for Kavon Tibido. I don’t know if that’s the cost for either guys. I mean, Brian Burns when he got traded originally, don’t think he went for a two. Now, granted the or didn’t go for one, went for a two. It was a second, a fifth, and then another fifth. Um, so it was an early second. That was also a couple years ago. That was pre-extension. I don’t know if it’s really going to cost you a first for Brian Burns. I also think the biggest issue for the Giants is that regime is still kind of fighting for their jobs. They don’t have immense job security. I don’t know if trading away two of their one or two of their best players and best defensive players um is really going to be the move they pursue. And I don’t think it’s a two for Tibido given he’s going to be a rental. That that might be a four frankly which I I think Tibido is the odd man out in New York. That’s the one I I I would be calling about for sure. So uh Bird’s probably not as readily available slash you overpay for him. Roman need to sign Eric Hendrickx, trade for Jaylen Phillips, and sign Justin Simmons if everything is good with him. I will say, and we’ll revisit this again after the trade deadline, but the fact that we are almost into November, and there’s been very limited buzz on Eric Kendricks and on Justin Simmons actually makes me worried there’s not something right with them. Um, cuz they were both playable guys last year in the NFL. not as good as they were in their prime, but they were still usable, playable. Like, so that that actually is like sirens going off my head. I’m like, “Oh, is that actually the longer it goes, the more concerned I end up getting.” Roman Wolf Gaming says, “Trade for Crosby or Simmons,” I think. So, Max Crosby, Jeffrey Simmons. Uh, I Jeffrey Simmons seems to be a bit banged up right now. Also, in general, I honestly don’t understand the desire to go add another defensive tackle. Like that’s that’s a lot of investment when you can’t play three of them at once. Like I would it’s not if if it’s Crosby over Simmons, I think that like he’s not available. I don’t really think Simmons is available either. Now, if you want to start Everyone got mad at me when I put Mitch’s trade idea in there, like we’re not trading two ones for Max Crosby, but then it was like, well, the Raiders should trade him anyway. Well, that’s what the two ones are for, to make them say no to you. Um, also Titans injury report just dropped. Jeffrey Simmons was a DNP again with his hamstring injury. So, make note of that one. He did get hurt last week and that’s not a not a great sign there for Tennessee. Um, I don’t think those guys are available. Demario Davis might be. Um, I don’t know if he wants to leave New Orleans, but I do think that is that that’s a name I think you could call on and wouldn’t cost you more than a mid to late day three pick. GKD records 0.1 a decent player uh can make a huge difference. I I agree. I agree. um a a good another good defender would would help you out. And if you can be average on defense, I think you can be a playoff team. Is that enough to be a Super Bowl contender? I’m not so sure, but it is certainly worth at least trying a little bit. David M, did you know that the time do you know the timeline for Seville Rebel? I have not seen on Twitter. I think we’ll play more man or will we be stubborn? We’ll talk about that in our preview show. Um look, you’re gonna play a bit of both. I think and hopefully you do more man than what you’ve done in the past. You had success blitzing. Bo Nicks has been solid against the blitz. There hasn’t been a huge difference blitz, non-b blitz, you know, relative to where he sits in the rest of the NFL. Uh he is better against man coverage though. Uh so I wouldn’t be shocked if you saw the Cowboys deploy a bit more zone than what they did last week. Hopefully not 95% zone as they did did in some previous games, but I do think you’ll see some more zone because the matchup indicates that makes some sense. Still do some man, please. I would like you to um Rebels timeline is the same as Demarian Overshon’s timeline right now where the goal is to bring him back for the uh Raiders game after the buy. That’s that’s the timeline goal there for Overshon and for uh Savone Rebel. JetWolf 90, Grant Delpin, an option for a trade, possible cost. Good question. I don’t know. Um, the Browns are also kind of in a weird spot where honestly that defense is good. The points per game don’t always show it because, you know, sometimes the offense is so bad it just kind of kills them. Um, but they’re having a lot of success at all three levels. I don’t know if there’s that much better of a defense playing out there right now. My gut is that the Browns are adopting more of like a multi-year view with their coaching staff and front office and they don’t want to trade away guys that they don’t have to. Uh Grant Delpit looking at the contract side of it super cheap if you trade for him because they’ve really already done some of the max restructure stuffs. The Browns actually lose salary cap space if they trade away Grant Delpit over the next two years. So, I unless they blow it all up, I I would be a little bit surprised if he ends up getting uh on the move there. Who do we got in this one? C for the Cowboys and B for the Broncos. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. C or B in the comments, though. Delp would be a fun guy. We’ve spent you go back to some of our early videos. He was on one of the draft targets to go get and then he just kind of slid down the board. Safeties will slide sometimes. Uh that’s more often than that’s what they end up saying or end up they end up dropping a little bit. C for the Cowboys, B for the Broncos. We’ll preview this game later on in today’s show. Uh so stay tuned for that. But get your votes in. C or B for the Cowboys and the Broncos. No B’s in there yet. Dallas is a narrow road dog. The fact that they’re only slight underdogs is kind of like interesting. Interesting. David M. What are you the wide receiver DV matchups? I in the preview I mostly focused on Patan because he’s special. Riley Moss has played really well for them. Uh McMillan the nickel has been really good as they haven’t even played that much of Jade Baron because they’ve gotten such good quarterback play from everybody else. Um it’s it’s a tough matchup for you. It’s it’s just this is just a good defense. that kind of fell off a little bit last week and the Colts gave them some issues too, but this is a really good defense and I, you know, they’re any given week they can be the best defense in football. So, they’re going to have to come prepared on offense and really have have your agame going. Who you got? C for the Cowboys, B for the Broncos. Get those votes in for me in the comments of today’s show. As a reminder, the super chat menu on today’s show, any super is a shout out, $5 is a raffle entry, $10 gets you three raffle entries, 50 bucks for a shot, and $100 for a beer bong. Same menu prices as we do for our games. Who you got on Thursday Night Football? By the way, of note, Aaron Jones officially activated from injured reserve for the Vikings. So noted Cowboy killer Aaron Jones is back uh this time against Minnesota. V for the Vikings, C for the Chargers. Aiden, you were correct about the Bengals last Thursday. Who you got in this one? Yeah, just just shout. You’re good. Just shout. Aiden’s got the Chargers in this one. C or V? V for the Vikings, C for the Chargers. I got the Chargers as well. I took on minus three and a half. Uh, so that’s we’ll see how it plays out, but I just I I you can’t get me to bet on Carson Wentz. I’m sorry. You just can’t get me to do it. You just can’t get me to do it. Daniel Tom for Nick quarterback spy on him for sure. I didn’t get the updated numbers uh for this week’s game as it wasn’t as big of a focal point. But remember last week how we said Jaden Daniels hadn’t been as good as a scrambler this year and his uh first down conversion rate on scrambles was second worst in the NFL. Going in last week, Bo Knicks was the worst actually. Um, but they they will do some design run stuff for him. He’s very athletic. I do think, you know, a similar uh, you know, spy package plan that they deployed against Daniels is a good idea. He’s not as dynamic as Daniels, but he is he is athletic and a dual threat for sure. William Cook, $10. Would trading for a top defensive player keep Jerry from signing Pickkins? No, it doesn’t. You have money available. Uh we we’ll break it down kind of on today’s video, but honestly the money isn’t an issue in Dallas. Um they’ve got a ton of it and they’ll have upwards of $100 million in salary cap space this year as long as they do the simple things. They can push it to 150 if they need to. Um I I I would not be surprised if if you know I I would be surprised they didn’t have a bunch of money available because it means they did something stupid and just like didn’t handle it it properly. Abra Pawar, do you think Lamb and Pickins are the best wide receiver duo? I think you can make a pretty good argument right now because some of the other guys we put in there like the Bengals are still one of them. The Higgins Chase combination is is electric. I think you’re right in that conversation. We mentioned the Dolphins going into this year. Well, Wadd and two Tyreek’s hurt again and Wadd has been as productive because quarterback play matters. Addison and Jefferson are Addison’s actually been really good. I think that’s probably in that conversation, too. Eagles combo hasn’t been as good this year in Brown and Smith. I think there’s no doubt they’re in the top five. And I don’t know how big of that of a gap it actually is, if there even is a gap. Uh, Ill K says, “Zion is back.” We will mention that on today’s video, but yes, Zion Childress is back. All the ones who got away from you uh at roster cutdown time are back on the Cowboys practice squad, by the way. How about that? Kind of funny how that how that works out. GH24 into our raffle. Uh, if the defense plays like they did last week, I can see the Jones boys saying, “See, we like our guys and not trade.” I suppose you can’t rule it out. Um, but you do want them to win because I think that makes it more likely they think that they’re close and that they want to get better on defense. So, I I do think this this front office is aware that they do need defensive help. what they end up going for in terms of the talent level and position I think is is up for debate. So, do you want the Cowboys to beat the Broncos? If so, like the video right now. More likes, better we do from a viewer perspective. If we ever get to 50% like ratio in buildup, we’ll do a free beer bong. Uh we’re not even a quarter of the way there. So, help us out. Like today’s video, please. And thank you everyone who already has. Coming up on today’s live show, we’ll run through some Cowboys news and rumors. Pickings extension talk updates from ESPN. A part of that Cowboys trade rumors. Plenty of those going on. Diana Rousini with another update. A mailbag. Two ways to get in on the show. # Cowboys skip the line all together via super chat. And we’ll have another Cowboys versus Broncos preview for you here on the channel. All coming live here on the Cowboys Report. [Music] Coming up on today’s Cowboys report, rumors on the potential George Pickkins extension, Cowboys injury news, including when Overshon plans to be back, Trayvon Diggs, Cooper BBE, and a little practice squad movement once again for the Dallas Cowboys. It’s Cowboys Broncos. This week we are in a like battle against our Broncos channel. We are this close to doubling them up. Let’s do it today. Like the video, especially if you want to take down the ponies in this matchup. Let’s go to the George Pickins extension status. ESPN reporting the Cowboys have kind of begun to plan out a possible George Pickins extension. Here’s what ESPN’s Dan Graciano reported uh yesterday on one of his insider articles. The Cowboys have had internal discussions about a possible extension extension for receiver George Pickkins to the point where they’ve been examining the rosters and cap situations of teams like the Bengals and Dolphins and Eagles who are all paying multiple high-end receivers. I don’t think anything gets done on this until after the season. But Dallas has been happy picking since acquiring him in an offseason trade with Pittsburgh and is at least considering what it would look like to keep Dak Prescott’s wide receiver tandem together. It would be weird if the Cowboys weren’t trying to figure out how they would make it work with George Pickkins. It would also be weird if they hadn’t considered how to make that happen in the first place when they traded for him. It is, by the way, completely possible to be able to retain George Pickkins and still make your defense better. They are still able to go out and add talent because they have extra draft picks. And as we’ll get into on today’s show, they got ways to create cap space. A Dak Prescott restructure will save them $30.9 million. CD Lamb 19 restructure. OSA’s 12. Tyler Smith is 17 plus. Don Bland is nearly nine. Jake Ferguson is nearly five. You can cut Terrence Steel and save eight or 14 million. You’ll cut Trayvon Diggs and save 12.5. Either cut or extend or restructure Kenny Clark can save you a pretty wide amount of range of money there because he’s only got a year left on his deal. Cut M Cooker, save you $7 million. Yeah, you then have holes at right tackle and maybe you need a corner and a safety again and we’ll see about defensive tackle, but you got a projected 2.8 right now on spot track. You do all that different stuff. You’re well beyond $125 million in salary cap space. George Pickkins is not going to cost you $125 million in salary cap space. That’s not how it works. you have the funds available to pay pickings and build out the rest of the roster better as long as you hit on your draft picks. You don’t you don’t hit on your draft picks. That’s how you end up being frankly what the Bengals and Dolphins have been where they’ve missed on too many picks. So, do you want to pay George Pickkins? Why for yes, N for no? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Look, if George Pickkins continues to play the way he has been playing, there’s really no justification for at least not tagging him. That should be the minimum you do this off season. And the correct move would be to pay him, by the way. It’s going to be expensive. I don’t think you’re going to get George Pickkins on anything resembling a discount. This is going to be his first year getting a chance to get paid. He is rep by Athletes First and David Mogetta. And those guys don’t take discounts. But that’s a champagne problem for you in the end where oh no I have to pay my awesome receiver and keep my you know maybe it’s not Batman Robin maybe it’s Batman Superman combination together and you don’t let the really good players leave and walk away cuz that’d be kind of a weird path. I think at minimum Pickkins has already surpassed the $30 million per year projection on on the contract and it could easily grow a little bit higher and continue to uptick there. That wouldn’t be shocking to me. The Cowboys have the franchise tag as an option and this projection is kind of like the minimum would take in light of the franchise tag. So do the right thing for your team, Jerry. Don’t play the who’s the agent’s name game. Just go about your business and get it done before the start of the combine. Get it done around the combine. Get it done before the start of the new league year so you maximize your cap space to which you can play with. Uh today’s show is made possible by prize picks. You and I make decisions every single day, but on Prize Picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this football season on Prize Picks, where it’s good to be right. It is the only app that offers stack, so you can pick the same player up to three times in the same lineup. Hey, maybe you want to go Cavante Turpin more than receiving and rushing yards if it’s available. Or maybe you want to go Dak Prescott more than passing yards and passing TDs. That’s one of the uh prize picks options on this lineup. Doing the flex play can get one wrong still cash out. It’s more than on Lamb and Sutton receiving yards. Mentioned Dak TDs and Javvante in the revenge game. More than 15 and a half rush attempts. So if you haven’t already, go download the prize picks app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. Link will be in the comments section and the description of today’s show. It’s prizepix.com/lns. Use code cls to get $50 in lineups after you play the first $5 lineup. Let’s talk injuries now. Cooper BB is not ruling out a return this week as he recovers from an ankle injury. In fact, I think the Cowboys goal is to get him back this week, which would by the require another roster move to get him onto the 53. Maybe someone like Trevor Key or maybe someone like Johnny Cornelius ends up going on IR. BB said, “I’m feeling pretty good after Wednesday’s practice.” Uh, obviously working through some aches and stuff, getting back in the groove. Realistically, based on how I feel Thursday, we’ll see if I can go this week. if not for sure next week. I think the return of BB would be a significant boost uh for the Cowboys up front. Not that Brock Hoffman’s been bad, but I do think BB is just a better player overall. I think there’s been some I honestly probably tougher matchups for BB to begin the season than what has been for Brock. Hoffman has had these ones. Derrick Brown, for example, is a tough one as well. Get out. Hoffman is I like him a lot. He continuously does his job as a backup offensive lineman. and I love me some captain and so but he’s like the ideal six lineman and BB is a better starter and I hope that that I hope it happens this week. We’ll see what happens throughout the week of practice but Cowboys at least keeping that door open. For more Cowboys YouTube videos including live shows here on the Cowboys report and watch parties hit that sub button so you don’t miss out. youtube.com/cowboyv. Let’s go to Demarian Overshown. He is working his way back and is very much hyping himself up for his impending return. He said his goal for the first game back and this has been the plan is the Raiders game. Monday night prime time zero will be making it it its debut. I’m excited for it. It’s not going to be anything short of extraordinary. I am ready to truly show how blessed I am. How do you not love overshan’s attitude? Like everything about him and I’m a sucker for the for the linebackers. Like I always love Shawn Lee. Jaylen Smith was fun until he really kind of fell off. Overshon is has kind of become that guy where it’s just like he’s always around the football. His instincts are good. He’s athletic as all get out. I hope he’s back and healthy. I I am going to keep cautioning like hey you know you have to be patient and like not expect him to instantly be back as good as he was. Overshot though. He said a lot of people claim that this knee injury is one of the worst of the worst and not too many people come back the same afterward. I am ready to put that to the test. I’m stronger and we got the numbers to prove it. Stronger, faster, I jump higher, I’m more explosive. I mean, you name it, I’m all of it. I mean, I hope so. I’m ready. I’m ready to run through a wall for that guy. I I do expect when he’s back, the first couple games, you saw it with Cavonte Turpin and Don Bland, they will probably limit him a little bit. Like, I don’t think he’s going to play 100% of snaps in his first game back. 50% might be a bit more likely. Um, but I do think that it could be back against the Raiders. That’s a bad team. Maybe he gets some some big time uh splash plays. So, what is your excitement level for Demarian oversh? Scale it for me from 1 to 10 in the comments section of today’s show. On the flip side is Trayvon Diggs. Diggs remains in concussion protocol. His return looking less likely for week eight in most cases. the rough even like return to practice you end up seeing for a lot of these players is is closer to like 10 days. That’s what it was kind of more for Jack Sanborn where he missed an entire week and then was back on Wednesday. That still wouldn’t put Diggs’s recovery until like Sunday or Monday. So I I I wouldn’t be shocked if Diggs does not go. I don’t know if we are ever going to be able to figure out what exactly happened to Trayvon Diggs. The fact that it hasn’t leaked, you know, kind of makes me suspicious that it was not a fun or a good story for Diggs, whether it was embarrassing or something worse or whatever. Like, the fact that it never came out indicates that the agent in his camp and the player didn’t want it out there. So, probably wasn’t the greatest uh for Diggs in the end. I don’t know if I ever find out what happened. Um, I don’t think there’s any grand conspiracy of a trade. The Cowboys are mad at Digs, don’t get me wrong, on that front, but you know, you don’t normally invent an injury to trade somebody. That’s not it’s not how it normally works. Although I do think there is frustration and there has been for a long time now front office and uh player-wise. One player is back. Zion Childris making his return to the Dallas Cowboys. He had recently been waved by the Houston Texans. Cleared waiverss and he came right on back to Dallas on the practice squad which is kind of funny. The last three players that like got away that we were all upset, mad about, etc. um for you know losing on waiver claims at rush cut down time. Isaiah Land the edge, Zion Childris the corner, Julius Wood the safety. They’re all back in Dallas now. Land and Childress and Wood are all on the Cowboys practice squad. So funny how a they don’t often get away and in these three cases at least ended up finding their way back to the Cowboys. Who we got in this one on Sunday? C for the Cowboys, B for the Broncos. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. C or B in the comments of today’s video. C or B. A lot of C’s in there, which I think is I I mean it’s Cowboys channel. I I expect our Broncos have a bunch of B’s on there. Um Daniel says, “We got to break this curse against Denver.” Mentioned it on our Wednesday morning preview. Um, you haven’t won a game against Denver since 1995. You haven’t won a road game at Denver since 1992. I was 11 days old. That’s how long ago that that that was. And I’m now getting into the old head category. So, C for the Cowboys, B for the Broncos. Get those votes in the super chat menu. Then we’ll get to some super chats that just came in, by the way. Uh, any super chat is a shout out. $5 is a raffle entry. 10 bucks is three. 50 bucks for a shot. $100 for a beer bong from Samuel. First round pick. Fourth round. Diggs and Tolbert for Max. Would that work? No. Look, the reason you go back and look at the video we did on Max Crosby. The reason Mitch and I were like, “Yeah, it’s probably going to take two wins to even get the Raiders to consider it is because they don’t want to trade Max Crosby.” And Max Crosby does not want to be traded. Like that’s This is different than Micah Parsons. Micah requested the the the the trade. Max Crosby has not done that and it would change if and when Max ever does does that. The price point would probably change too, but you know it it we can’t do not that you’re doing this Samuel, but this was very much my mentions the other day. We can’t do the well, we’re not going to trade two ones for Max Crosby and then also say it’s unfair that the Raiders won’t trade Max Crosby. Like you you have to pick one. Like that’s that’s you have to either pay a lot or you’re just not going to get the guy. And if that the answer is I don’t want to pay that much. That’s fine too. Like that’s perfectly reasonable. Um but like Diggs and Tolbert don’t have a lot of value. Like maybe day three pick maybe. But that’s like a first, a four, a six, and a seven. Like it doesn’t does Diggs even have positive trade value? It was negative in the offseason. It still might be negative trade value. So, I just think like you have to at some point like if you’re going to get the the best players available, you have to pay up quite a bit. Max, I know there was Kale, but I would give a one two and kneeland for Max. I probably would as well. I don’t think the uh Raiders would though. I I I think that they’d be asking for that two to potentially become a one even or something else on top of that given that frankly Neand hasn’t made much of an impact so far in his NFL career, which is is disappointing. So, we’re going to get some more Cowboys coverage coming up right now. NFL trade deadline is days away to the surprise of nobody. The trade rumors are hot right now. We have several more to discuss with that NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching here on the Cowboys report. If the Cowboys make a trade, we’ll have live trade deadline coverage no matter what. And as the news and rumors continue to flow, we will have you covered. So, do not miss out. Hit that sub button right now. YouTube.com/cowboystv. Now Diana Rousini on I think it was one of the Fox Sports shows uh First Things First, whichever one it was, I don’t remember. Uh talked revealed that she talked with Jerry Jones at the NFL’s owners meetings and I bet this will come out in one of her Friday trade art buzz articles. Says Jerry told me on the record they are not going past rush. I walked away from the conference with him as they’re going they’re going to look around, but I just don’t think they’re going to make some big splash. I just don’t think there’s any player available that makes sense contractually and worth the picks. In regards to Rousinu’s report, I hate the idea of the Cowboys completely ignoring pass rush. And it means one of two things. the Cowboys and Jerry were being honest when he told her that and they don’t want to acknowledge they maybe miss Michael Parks as a pass rusher or maybe they got good at lying finally and they have been calling around shopping on an edge rusher. Maybe the good edges aren’t available. I don’t think the Cowboys are going to make a big splash either. But also, what does a big splash mean? Does a big splash mean the Cowboys are not going to go get Hendrickson Crosby? Yeah, they’re just not going to. Like that’s I don’t think those guys are available. What what do like Jaylen Phillips and Germaine Johnson fall into in terms of the big splash category. If those guys don’t count as a big splash, maybe it is in play. I do think the Cowboys have kind of learned some lessons. My conspiracy theory is that they did call about Max Crosby. They were quickly told no and they’re just trying to play their cards close to the vest and leaked to local media that they had not called. How it plays out, we’ll see over the next 10ish days. But I do think the Cowboys have some at least internal interest in making a trade. Let’s go to what Jordan Schultz reported earlier this week saying the teams coming out on the Jets ahead of the trade deadline mentioning notable names Bree Hall, Quincy Williams, Germaine Johnson, Will McDonald, Michael Carter, Alan Lazard, the future Steeler. Schultz also reported one source told me there’s an element of trying to figure out who are Glenn’s guys and who aren’t. Remember when Detroit suddenly traded TJ Hawinson? a building block from the last regime is not going to be a guaranteed building block in this one. That’s valid. Now, I do think Schultz’s report focuses more on players other teams have interest in. That doesn’t mean those are the ones the Jets have interest in shopping. The names that stick out to me specifically for the Cowboys, Will McDonald, Germaine Johnson, Quincy Williams, the the front seven players, three names that I am intrigued by. Let’s begin with Will McDonald IVth, who has been solid this year. He hasn’t been maybe as impactful as what I would have hoped, especially given to how good he was last year. McDonald was playing at an incredibly high level last season. He had 10 and a half sacks uh in just his second season. A guy the Cowboys liked a lot, by the way, coming out of Iowa State. Had he gotten to the Cowboys pick in that 2023 NFL draft, obviously did not materialize this way. I think there’s a real chance he would have been the pick. Uh they did like him quite a bit. Just ended up not working out that way in the end. Uh Jeremy Fowler though did say in one of his ESPN Insider articles that New York would be more willing to part with Germaine Johnson than Will McDonald IV. So let’s check in then on Germaine Johnson who has missed some time this year. The pressure rate has been a little bit better than Will McDonald’s. Neither have been as good as it’s been in years past. I do think part of this is, hey, the Giant or the Jets are just in a really bad spot and can’t do anything right on defense or offense right now. Just kind of limits everything there. He was really good in 2023, even though the even the the raw numbers might not indicate it necessarily. Seven and a half sacks and that one was a Pro Bowler that year. Uh 16 quarterback hits, really good pressure rates as well. The pressure rates aren’t that different this year and last year combined, but only played in six games the past two seasons. So, would you trade for Germaine Johnson? Why for yes, N for no? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Now, I have interest. I don’t know if the Jets are quite as inclined as maybe I felt a week ago. And even then, that was always like tricky. Uh Germaine Johnson did tweet out the I’m not leaving expletive deleted uh gift from the Wolf of Wall Street. You guys saw the movie, right? It was awesome movie. Um he also then said it with media availability on Thursday that uh he spoke with the front office and they’re in alignment that he’s not going to get traded. Okay, if that’s off the market, so be it. If he is the market, it’s actually probably a problem. Uh I think in general this is a sellers market for the edge rusher group. There are multiple teams who have been linked, have been mentioned, who are in need of edge help and there aren’t that many available players cuz Hendrickson’s not going to get moved. Max Crosby’s not going to get moved. all of a sudden your groupings kind of get thin real quick, real fast, and that raises some concerns that we’ll get to here in a little bit. Now, other Jets player I want to mention is Quincy Williams, who I’d be a little surprised if the Jets traded him away because that’s Quinn’s brother. And you know what? Shout out the Jets for nailing that one because he was bad in Jacksonville. Like, he wasn’t playing well. And I thought I I took a victory lap here. um with him being a bad pick by Jacksonville and then he’s been really good with the Jets. So like all of that’s like ah okay maybe this wasn’t the most likely outcome here. One assistant GM reportedly told Fox Sports that the Jets are listening but their prices are high which tells me they’re not serious about trading yet. Or maybe they’re just not in fire mode. Remember uh Quincy Williams, Germaine Johnson under uh and Will McDonald all under contract going into next season. They don’t have to make a trade if they don’t want to. Link will be in the comments section and the description of today’s show. Let’s go to the Dolphins here. They have multiple edge rushers who I think could end up being put on the market at the trade deadline. Ralph Aachi over at Fox Sports had this to say. As for the Dolphins, the personnel executives uh said they seem frozen because neither GM Chris Greer nor head coach Mike McDaniel knows for sure how much longer they’ll have their jobs. the the the the Dolphin status is is interesting uh in in terms of they should be sellers. They they should be a team that tries to shop and get assets back. They’re in a weird spot. I mentioned how the edge market I think is a sellers market. I think the Eagles, they’ve been linked a lot in, and this is all teams mentioned by Fox Sports, by the way, teams that could be in the market there. Uh the Chiefs have been mentioned. The Niners are an obvious team. The Lions are an obvious team. Patriots I’m not as convinced about. receiver makes more sense for them. Cowboys, the Colts have been linked in the edge rusher market. I don’t see a lot of truly available pieces right now in that edge group. Um, but two of them reside that are noteworthy reside in Miami. Bradley Chub is first up here. Now, his sack numbers are are good. He’s under contract for several more years. The Dolphins don’t have strand. They just pay. They don’t see a lot of money. I would almost be more intrigued depending on what the cost is for both guys in Jaylen Phillips. I know the sack numbers aren’t as high compared to Bradley Chub. The pressure rates higher. I think the athletic juice is a little bit better right now. He is a rental though and that that makes it tricky of like how much does it cost? Like if it’s a four or a five, I have interest. So I would like to have one fourth round pick at some point this this year or these next four years for the Cowboys. Um, but he’s a pending free agent. You know, the Dolphins might not spend a lot in free agency, but maybe they don’t want to go the the comp pick route there on Phillips. He strikes me as the most logical trade candidate of the Dolphins edges. It’s going to get value back. Like, they trade Matthew Judon, but I don’t know who wants Matthew Judon at this point. So, name a player who you want to trade for. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Two Titans players mentioned by Bleacher Report specifically for the Dallas Cowboys, Cody Barton and Roger McCreary. Let’s go to Barton first and foremost, the linebacker, which I wouldn’t be shocked if offball linebacker ends up being a need for the Cowboys. Even with oversh I would like try to find an upgrade there if I can. I don’t know how much better Cody Barton is. I he’s put up some good tackle numbers over the course of his career. He’s been a little inconsistent in coverage against for Seattle and for the Commanders and Tennessee. He’s been okay. I just I don’t mind the player, but I do think that this trade idea that Bleacher Report cooked up is a little bit expensive. Uh they proposed a fourthround pick for Tennessee and the Cowboys get Cody Barton. And I just I think that’s a lot. I that that that’s rich for me. So, would you do this trade? T for trade, P for pass. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Look, I don’t hate Cody Barton as a player. This seems a little rich for low-end starter. Like, I don’t know if if the difference between Cody Martin, Shamar James, and Maurice Leaf as three linebackers, right, is a fourth round pick difference. I just I don’t think that’s the case. He’s not that expensive. The pro-rated figure is about half of the $2.3 million price tag depending on when you trade for him. But, you know, $6.5 million next year, it’s not that bad, but 1.5 is guaranteed. I just I just wonder if you could find a a better linebacker that probably is cheaper even. Roger McCreary, also mentioned by Bleacher Report, and he’s fun. I’ve always liked Roger McCreary. He’s a little undersized, but he was a secondary pick out of Auburn. He’s scrappy. He He’ll He’ll fit the run. He can do that type of stuff. He actually think does somewhat fit Matt Eberloose. Um not a huge interception guy, but he had 12 TFLs last year. When you’re when you’re one of your nickel corners is getting in the back field means he’s a good run support player. I think McCuri fits that mold. The trade package for a rental was rich. A fourth round pick. It’s expensive. Uh, in general, I have found that uh, Bleacher Reports trade ideas are not good. They are either way too expensive or way too cheap. Like there’s like there’s never like, “Yeah, that makes sense.” Always like, “That’s that’s a lot.” And I’ve been a fan of McCreary since the draft, but he has sub 29 in arms. And the Cowboys are ableist. They want long armed corners. They They don’t like having short armed guys. They never add them. Even Ready Stewart, who’s undersized, has 30 like and a quarter inch, which is about as short as they go. I I would be pretty surprised if the Cowboys went after McCree because of that. Williams $10 super chat in there as well. So get your questions in. Last call # Cowboys. Skip the line all together via super chat. A $5 super thanks from CJ D. Young III. Uh says, “Yes, this is reference to like trades and stuff. Please go do something. Edge or corner is tank available?” Seriously, thank you. uh Demarcus Lawrence is not available. Like now within a reasonable price tag, if you called the Seahawks and said, “Hey, we’ll give you a first round pick for Tank Lawrence.” They’d say yes. Doesn’t make any sense for you to do that. The realistic available player is no. He’s he’s not available. Seattle’s good. I Their defense has been awesome this year. By the way, Mike Dan’s is a wizard on defense. Um but like realistically, no, he is not available. Other edges, other corners. Yes, in Seattle, I do think Reek Woolen, for example, is on the market. Now, if you want entered into our weekly raffles, all you have to do for each game day is send in a $5 super thanks. Get you into our raffles each and every single week. Or super chats also count. From skeptical fan, if every team doesn’t play their two best receivers, our defense has a chance to play great. That is a very valid point or thing to point out about the Cowboys when they’re the commanders. They didn’t have McLaren or Samuel or even Noah Brown. Um I also think that the quarterback did not play well in that game. Daniels had guys open and he missed them. It’s still progress. It’s also why you can’t just assume they’re now great on defense. And even 20 points allowed isn’t the greatest showing necessarily, although the game was over for a while. Marcus Arnold says, “Thanks. Tony Banks is the ultimate Cowboys legend.” Uh Banks lasted what six months or so. Um and then they went with Quincy Carter and Banks was I think it’s Commanders picked him up. Uh but I always like it when it’s like the guy lasted for six months. Like haha Clinton Dixs is the defensive version of Tony Banks. In reference to the Max Crosby trade, CJ D. Young says, “Didn’t believe it for a second, but seriously, thank you. Appreciate that, CJ. Cheers to you, my friend. I the Crosby trade in general was was always a pipe dream, but it was fun at least because he’s an awesome player. From Tyrone Smoochie Wallace. Guess we’re going Kee and Peel in the comments today. Uh Dallas said they weren’t trading Micah, so why can’t the Raiders do the same thing? Uh look, there there’s a huge difference here in that one player wanted out. That’s the the difference. I know we all kind of didn’t want it to be true, but Micah did request the trade. You know, this isn’t like player A, you know, wants out and player B decides they don’t want him any and team B doesn’t want him anymore. Like, this was the Raiders don’t want to trade Max Crosby. Max Crosby doesn’t want to be traded. So, you’d have to blow them away to make a deal happen. Everyone got mad when Mitch and I did the the two ones and more for the trade. But, like, this is the price of, you know, making them say no to you. you know, a first and Sam Williams doesn’t do anything for the Raiders. Like, you have to do a lot more than that. So, what is the percent chance the Cowboys trade for Max Crosby? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. I think it’s always been low. It’s fun. You know, I think it’s zero, frankly, but I know how everyone operates. So, go vote in the comments. From Brendan, Houston needs offense. Cowboys need defense. trade an offensive lineman for Lacer or I think you mean uh Devin Singleary. Uh unfortunately, we have to go to the meme, produce Aiden. We have to go to the meme. Brendan’s my guy, but uh you’re right that that Houston needs defense or needs offense. Excuse me. But this this is like the Cowboys version of trading George Pickkins for Christian Harris. Like you’re not getting two very good or one of their best defensive players or a top three corner in football for players you don’t want anymore. Like TJ Bass and Jaylen Tolbert is not getting you uh Derek Stingley. That that’s who you met. It’s not getting you Lacier or Jaylen Petri. It’s just like Houston’s not doing that. Like they need offensive line. Yes. But you have to give a you have to give a hell of a lot more. Like honestly the cost of of of Derrick Stingley is two ones and more. Like that would be the price tag and Houston just paid him. It’s just not going to happen. William Cook, I wonder if you keep the Green Bay first, trade it for another first in 2027 and use the three first to trade up and take a top QB. That wouldn’t make any sense though if Dak’s playing like this like that. I if if something happens or injuries or whatever and you need a quarterback, that is a valid plan. But if your quarterback’s playing well and with the way quarterbacks can play forever these days and his playing style should just translate to you know if he can stay healthy knock on wood big question mark um like then you know then then it makes sense but if he’s healthy and playing well like you’re going to use those assets for the players. I do like the idea of getting another 2027 first though. I do like that idea. If you can pull off what the Rams did last year, trade down, get an extra one, I am all for that idea. Can we trade for Crosby and Hendrickson? Definitely not both of them and almost assuredly not either of them. The Bengals don’t view themselves as sellers. Now, if you were to come to either team and go, “We’ll give you everything you want. We’ll give you two firsts and a second for Max Crosby.” Oh, maybe they do it then. If the if you give the Bengals a first, a second for Trey Henderson, they might do it then. But like those teams don’t want to trade those players. They’re they’re not sellers. the a the Raiders are sellers but not for their best player who’s a Raider hard. He’s got like he’s got tattoos of the Raiders like he is Las Vegas and Hendrickson the Bengals are going to be beat the Jets and they’re going to be 500 and right in the mix of AFC North. So like I don’t think either guy is getting dealt this season from Steo. I don’t think Diggs 100% recovered and I flu is compensating by running zone uh to preserve Digs’ trade value. First off guys, there is no Diggs trade value because he’s been bad in zone. I look Diggs I don’t think he’s back to the same form whether he’s healthy or not like putting him in a bad defensive scheme for his play style doesn’t preserve his trade value. I is running zone because he wants to play more zone. Diggs somehow got himself concussed. He would have been better in man coverage had they been out there doing that. And I don’t think there’s some grand conspiracy with Diggs. The the team has made it very clear they back to training camp. They are mad at Diggs. They are frustrated by him. He came back sooner than than they thought he was going to. Is he the same guy he was in his prime? I don’t think so. I feel like he’s lost a half step, but I don’t think they’re trying to save his trade value because there isn’t any. From Spongebob Squar Dance, does Reek Woolen make sense for Dallas? I think he does. I was actually surprised he wasn’t a cowboy draft pick given how far he fell. I don’t know why he fell. Um the the the the length, the athletic ability very much fit the Dallas Cowboys mold. I think he’s much better in man than zone. So, I do wonder how he fits the Matty Buffu scheme. I also wonder he’s going to be a free agent. He wants to get paid. Like, are you going to pay him? And if he’s just a rental, how much are you willing to give up for him? So, will the Cowboys make a trade? Why for yes, N for no? Get those predictions in for me in the comments section of today’s show. from bust 714. Can we just add Kendricks and Gilmore? You can. It’s also October and I think going the free agent market at this point with the guys that nobody else wants might not actually fix your defense. Um I do think Gilmore would actually be a decent fit in zone. He’s smart enough to to handle it. Um but I just I I wonder if those guys actually help you out. I I think that they some of the upgrades. I wonder if corner they feel they feel okay about because Carson is back. I think she does fit decently in zone. Uh Cone Rebel should be back in in November. I don’t know if that’s going to be the path. A uh Pawir, why does Dak look like his 2016 self? What changed? I He doesn’t look his 2016 self. He looks like his 20 uh 23 self. Honestly, the 2016 Dak was great. 2023 was better. He was doing more things with less support. Um people I think just get caught up in like the Ted interception ratio and not just like the level of command he has over the offense. I I think Dak may honestly guys maybe last year was just the outlier season. Maybe that’s what happened. Daniel, what about this trade idea? Cowboys get Minka Fitzpatrick and Jaylen Phillips and a 2026 third for the Dolphins for a second, a fourth, and a 2027 fourth. Thoughts on this this I don’t think you’re getting a third back from them. I think you’re getting greedy there, Daniel. Um cuz what moving down from a late second to an early third like that doesn’t move the needle for Miami. That just becomes two fours for those guys, which maybe isn’t that far off from the trade value. I don’t know what those guys’s true trade value is. I like the idea of Minka Fitzpatrick. I know the Cowboys had interest the first time he was traded. I think that original Minka trade, by the way, whoever put it in the show or not, but like that when the Steelers, who were not that good, you have a first was like, damn, I don’t know about that one. That was a lot for them to give up, but he was a long-term piece. If you’re making a big splashy trade, that type of trade is the one I would have interested in this year’s version for the Cowboys. I don’t know how much it costs to get Minka and Phillips, but I think those are two good players as well. I I like that one. I like it. So, if you want to be featured on future Cowboys mailbags, subscribe, tune in, and ask any questions you have. Hit that sub button right now. YouTube.comcowboystv. Ra Gray Fish said the Bengals have with Hendrickson and he’s happy with them either. I believe I have a chance to get him. Honestly, I I don’t think I do. Um, now look, if the Bengals lose against the Jets, I am willing to revisit this conversation and being unhappy, which they were in the off season very clearly with each other. No doubts about that. He’s requested a trade twice. There’s issues there. But being unhappy in the off season is different than shoot, we are a game away from being 500. We’re playing the worst team in the NFL. We just upset Pittsburgh. The schedule’s doable down the stretch. The Bengals don’t view themselves as sellers. If they did view themselves as uh a selling franchise, I think that’d be a different conversation with Hendrickson. I don’t think they want to sell. Again, check in again on Monday. If they lose to the Jets, we will do videos on go getting Trey Hendrickson because then I think it makes it makes more sense. But if the if you’re 500 and you want to go buy somebody, why would another 500 team not want to have him? So, I think like that’s the issue is I don’t think the Bengals want to sell right now. Might be available in free agency though this this offseason. That that’s also very much in play. Aaron Jones, I assume not the real Aaron Jones. He’s probably busy getting ready for a game. Says, “Trade for Deario Davis if he’s available at the right cost.” Yes. I don’t know if he wants to leave the Saints. The Saints I guess they have a good culture because all those guys said they don’t want to get traded. I I mean Alvin Kamar said, “I’d rather retire than get traded away.” Like, so good for good for them. Um, now Davis has bounced around the NFL, too. He’s been with the Jets as well. I I would call cuz he’s he’s an older player. He’s a rental. He’s not going to be very expensive. So, if you can get him relatively cheap, then yes, I have interest because I think he’d be a good fit for your defense and a big upgrade as well. from Jack Marius. Boy, we we we are deep into the key and Peele game today. Uh how about bringing back Tony Pard? I actually don’t hate the idea of Tennessee selling someone like Tony Pard. The contract is if they trust Taj Spears, they have to protect Cam Ward. Like you’re probably okay paying extra couple million dollars and not getting back a fifth round pick, whatever, uh to keep your best running back. It’s not that bad. It’s it’s a little bit less than $6.5 million. That’s, you know, so three and a halfish over the course of the season. Um I don’t know if Dallas wants to go give up assets for a running back right now. They are they’re in kind of a they’re in a weird spot where as long as Javon Williams is healthy, they don’t need another back right now. They they have enough. Although Pard has not done a great job this year on the ground. I don’t know if that’s a step has been lost. He is 28 years old now. or if it’s just Tennessee’s offense blows, which is a very real possibility. He’s been a thousand guy for three years in a row. Um, is we know he fits the Cowboys obviously. I just they don’t need a running back unless Javvante gets hurt. Do they want to go have an insurance? And how much would you pay for insurance? Pard might be a little bit expensive insurance, but it’s it’s a it’s a very fine line you have to you have to ride there. And probably for the cost, I’d say no. But injury happens. He’s at the very at the very top top of of the list. Do the Cowboys need another running back? One for yes, zero for no. One or zero? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Cowboy Rob 28. You think Jerry to see how these two games go before pulling the trigger on a trade. I do think I think across the NFL, this is probably the mindset. There are some teams that like the Jets know, okay, we suck. Like, let’s sell. But the deadline is the deadline. And look, Jerry says it, deadlines do make deals. Um, so I I would not be surprised if they do want to see how these next two games play out, especially this one against Denver. They play on Monday night going into the Tuesday deadline, so it’s a little bit tough timing wise. Uh, but you know what? Just have have an energy drink and stay up late if you need to. Um, I I would not be surprised if they do kind of play things out um and and go go from go from there. Chris H $10. In my opinion, this is our only this year is the only real window given Dak’s injuries and losing in the second half of the second playoff game. You’re trading Dak if the season gets away from you. Why is this I kind of this kind of annoys me. Um not dealing with you in particular, Chris. I appreciate your super chat. I have heard the window closed every single year on the Dallas Cowboys. Every year I have heard, “Oh, the window just closed.” every year they lose a playoff game. Well, the the window’s over now. They’re they’re not going to be able to to go win games. It’s it’s over. And every year, well, you know what? If he’s healthy, they’re 500. Every single year, that’s that’s the case. I don’t think this is the real window. In fact, I think next year’s window is better. That’s why I’m not sacrificing everything to go trade away that type of of player. Like, I don’t think that’s the case. I also don’t know what exactly the second half of the second playoff game like the first half’s been the bigger issue in some of those playoff games. But like the Jets, no, I’m not trading him. Like he’s playing really good. Like I’d keep that guy and I would build the rest of my franchise around him. Next year you’ve got two first round picks, two first round picks the year after that and 100 plus million dollars in salary cap space. Plus you don’t save much by trading him. I would just I would go set up my window the next three three to four years and then if it doesn’t work then I can bottom out. But I I would rather try to be aggressive than to just kind of punt or worse do nothing like they essentially did the last two offseasons. This is the super chat menu on today’s show. $5 gets you into our raffle. $10 like Chris just did gets you three. 50 bucks equals a shot. $100 equals the beer bong as well. So, get your super chats in here on today’s show. We will uh check in on Thursday Night Football. I believe Mitch is going to be live again on Thursday night, which I don’t know what we’ll do this time around. It’ll be something weird, I’m sure. Uh who you got? V for the Vikings, C for the Chargers. Uh the Chargers are going to wear like they’re kind of throwbacks. It’s it’s the the dark navy with those ones. Look, the Chargers unis are elites. I don’t know why they wore the all yellows. Those were terrible. No, they’re Teletubby uniforms. Yes, but that’s not all yellow. The all yellows blow the the dark navies, the the the the powder blues, elite uniform combinations. So, who you got? C for the Vikings, C for the Chargers, V for the Vikings. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. V for the Vikings, C for the Chargers. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. VC or V. Decent a decent split here. I do I do lean Chargers. I just I can’t get on board with the with picking Carson Wentz. I I just can’t get on board with doing that. Um I just I just I just can’t. I just can’t. C or V, let me know in the comments section of today’s show to see V Chargers choke. I just I I don’t trust Carson Wentz quarterback. He’s going to start for Minnesota. Um Aaron Jones is back for Minnesota, but I’m I’m going Chargers in this one. They’re getting a little bit healthier, too, with uh with guys like Joe Alt, I think, is going to be back tonight as well. Before we preview Cowboys versus Broncos, the most comments on today’s video gets a free raffle entry. Let me know whatever you want to spam, see, win, whatever it is. The most comments on today’s show get the free raffle entry. Dallas on the road in Denver in what is almost a nationally televised game. The afternoon window kind of stinks. It’s like a couple one- win teams and then the Cowboys Broncos are playing which is going to be an interesting matchup there. Dallas is the underdog but not by a lot in this one which certainly is worth monitoring. The Cowboys injury report what to monitor and again as note we’re filming this on our Thursday live show. We’ll know what the actual answers are by the time the video goes out. It’ll be in the comments and the description the full like in injury report finalists there. Um, Trayvon Diggs, I would lean towards not playing with his concussion. You we’ll see. A lot of times that recovery is closer to 10 days, which would not put him back in time for Sunday. Was in the protocol still as of Thursday. Cooper BB and his ankle may or may not be brought back from IR. I think we’ll know more later in the week. Donovan Wilson has been managing his injuries. Kenny Clark as well, uh, should be fine. Marshon Neland missed last week with the ankle. We’ll see about his status. Tyler Smith, again, they’re kind of managing his knee issue, but he should be fine. Denver’s injury report is pretty much empty. Uh Jonah Ellis missed last week, but was upgraded to limited in the middle part of the week. So, would not be surprised if he is back out there for the Denver Broncos. So, mostly healthy for both sides in this one. Let’s talk matchups to watch here. Number one is, and I could have gone the entire receiving core against the entire Broncos secondary cuz you got an elite duo and George Pickins and CD Lamb and Riley Moss has played really good football for Denver as a corner as well. But I wanted to go with who does Patrick Certan follow? Does he go on the slot? Does he stick on the outside no matter what? Does he shade and follow uh CD Lamb around? Do they because they have Pickkins and given the play styles, maybe they think he’s a slightly better match against Pickkins and they try to like take away Pickkins with Certan and do some uh shade coverage stuff with like Riley Moss and you know rotate a safety and a linebacker against Lamb. You know, who does does Jaquan McMillan stay in the slot and get Lamb? Like it it Certain’s awesome. This is one of if not I think he is the best corner in football. Eight pass breakups against 16 completions allowed. It’s a 50/50 chance. He’s going to break it up by himself or you will catch it. Let alone not catchable balls because there’s no window. He doesn’t get thrown at very much. He didn’t get thrown at against the Giants. Didn’t or didn’t allow a catch. He is a elite elite corner. So, what is your confidence level in the Cowboys beating the Broncos? Scale it for me from 1 to 10. One on the low end, 10 on the high end. Matchup to watch number two that is there’s a lot of ways I could have gone with this but I’m just doing in general the pass defense for the Dallas Cowboys against Bicks and the 2025 stats I use these uh summer sports data here man coverage for Bon Knicks and zone coverage for Bonix not including scrambles and stuff like that just pure drop back passes uh higher completion rate against zone coverage way more yards but he’s had more chances teams typically run zone against Denver, but the yards per attempt are startling here. 5.8 against 7.0. And when we’re talking in terms of the volume of attempts here, uh, for Boone Knicks and the Broncos, we’re talking 61 against man, 95 against zone. The touchdowns are 5 to six, interceptions are three to one. Uh, you know, he had Matt Rafuss out there saying, you know, we ran man against commanders, was the right thing to do against against the Commanders. May have been like a coaching speak of like, we’re not going to tell you we’re going to run each week. like we did last week essentially. I do think you see a decent amount of zone again this week. I think given what Bo Nick struggles with, make him read it out. I don’t think he’s as good as some of the other quarterbacks you’ll face this year are. Also of note, what Denver does downfield. This is a quick passing offense. Uh in some ways, you wonder how much Shawn Peyton trusts Bo Knicks out there. Under 10 yard passing, Bo Knicks has the second most attempts, only completing 71.4% of those plays. He is fifth in yards, but he’s 21st in yards per attempt. There have been some big after catch plays involved here. Six touchdowns, zero interceptions, but only around league average in terms of the EPA per play. His air yards per attempt under 10 yards is 1.3. That is the second lowest in the NFL. There will be screens and there will be many of them against the Dallas Cowboys. 10 to 19, the intermediate area of the field. some league average numbers in terms of volume, but again kind of below average here overall. He’s 16th in attempts, but below average completion and accuracy rates and 15th in yards, but 23rd in yards per attempt. A little high in the touchdowns, by the way, or a little low touchdowns, high on the interceptions. Worth noting. EPA play again is not that great. And Denver hasn’t had many successes with the uh deep ball either. 20 plus yard attempts. Bo Nicks is 25th 25 attempts. That’s eighth most. He’s completing 24% of them. He is 28th in yards per attempt. Two touchdowns, one interception. The Broncos are losing yards per attempt when Bo Knicks takes vertical shots downfield because they are not completing throws. These 27th and EPA per play. Don’t let this be the week where Bo Knicks in the deep passing game gets going like they like the Panthers did with Bryce Young. Numbers aren’t that different. do not let them get those big chunk plays to probably a few diversity, but one we’ll talk about here in a second. But first, today’s show is made possible by prize picks. You and I make decisions every day, but on prize picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this football season on prize picks where it is good to be right. It is simple to play. You pick more or less on at least two player stats. You get your pick right, you could cash in. It is the only app that offers stacks. to pick the same up to three times in the same lineup. You can pick more than on say Dak Prescott passing yards and passing TDs. We did one of those on producer Aiden’s flex play which is you can get three out of four right and still cash in. Went with Sutton and Lamb receiving yards. More on Sutton in a minute. Dak Prescott more than passes and Javon Williams revenge game more than 15 and a half yards on the or for 15 and a half temps, excuse me. Download the prize picks app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get 50 bucks in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. Links in the comments section and the description of today’s show. That’s prizepix.com/ns and use code cls. Matchup number three. Is it Don Band? Is it Kyrie? Who covers Courtland Sutton? Denver’s go-to number one wide receiver who does a bit of everything for this Dallas or for this Denver Broncos team. 33 catches, 469 yards on the season. Three touchdowns. He has been more reliable, more impactful than Troy Franklin. Marvin Mims still kind of feels like Denver is missing one other corner. Uh, Diggs’s size would be nice against him, but I don’t know if he’s going to go. Are they going to put Bland in the slot? I’m very curious if it’s zone. Is he in the slot? I’m very curious what the what Dallas does to kind of try to cover those Broncos wide receivers. We mentioned on our earlier week preview that Denver blitzes a pretty decently high rate. Will they do that against Dak Prescott? Historically speaking, teams don’t like blitzing Dak. Now, he’s faced a decent amount of drop backs against the Blitz. He’s also dropped back more than most quarterbacks. So, that is an asterisk there. Seventh the completion rate, fifth in complete percentage over expectation. That’s CPOE based on like drops and down in distance and tight window throws. He’s been very accurate. Eighth in yards, 17th in yards per attempt. There’s a lot of short quick passes there. You take out the Bears game, these numbers are all easily top five. He Dennis Allen had his way with the Cowboys that game. five TDs, one interception, top nine in EPA per play. Despite being fifth in drop backs, only 13th in sacks, he hasn’t taken very many of those. He has been very, very good against the Blitz. I am curious if Denver and Vance Joseph bring more pressure in this one for a very blitz happy team. Of the two quarterbacks, who is better right now? DP for Dak Prescott, BN for Bo Nicks. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. DP or BN matchup to watch run defense against the run offense for both teams. Denver will run the football. They have been a fairly run-happy team led by JK Dobbins averaging a smooth five yards per carry this year. Haven’t seen a ton of RJ Harvey. He had the one nice game uh with the receiving catch late, but Dobbins has been the focal back in Denver. He’s averaging five yards per carry. You know, it’s funny. Dallas very happy that the the uh the Broncos let Zuck go with Jvante Williams. I think Denver is very happy in what they have in JK Doppins. Both sides kind of won uh their running back shuffle there. Cowboys have to be be better against the run just like they were against uh the Commanders last week. They did a great job shutting down Bill Crosky Merritt, but overall this year has not been very good. 30th in yards per game, 26th in yards per carry, 30th in explosive runs. They do need to be better. Uh the stuff rates the wrong way. A lot of these numbers are not very good. They’re going to have to show up and come correct against a good Denver run game. Players to watch. Number five, how about Cavante Turpin? You know, Mile High Stadium. He was kind of limited last week. Uh didn’t play the full amount of snaps think we normally expect there. I’m curious what return looks he gets. Did the Cowboys get him a heavier workload? I think Shy kind of alluded to it though. The play sheet the play sheet for the guys. You’re you’re going to the lamb one first. you’re going to the the pickings one second. There’s not as many chances to get Cavante Turpin the ball because you’ve got better receivers in front of him. I am curious now that he’s probably more healthy and might not be on big of of of a pitch count. How involved is he in this one? Who scores the first TD for the Cowboys? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show who scores that first touch. Now, was Javvante Williams last week? Do we once again go back to the uh Javvante Wales at somebody else time around? Let me know in the comments of today’s show. Number four, Osa Odigizua. I’m waiting for better play from him. Not that he’s been terrible, although I don’t think he’s been good against the run. I think both he and Kenny Clark had a couple rough games in a row uh you know, in week uh weeks uh five and week six. The pressure rates remain high. I do think he misses having a legitimate game changer near him. uh alongside, you know, allowing him to not have him be the focal point of the pass rush there. I just haven’t seen enough yet out of OS Odigizua. I think Denver’s interior of the offensive line is probably their weak point. Um you I think he’s seen really good play out of out of frankly Derek BS and some good play from Mike Mlin. I don’t think Luke Watenberg is as good. Ben Powers is solid. I would like to see the Cowboys win up front in this one. If you have not already, make sure you guys are subscribed. We will be live for Cowboys versus Broncos. Will be live hour 45ish before kickoff. So, make sure you’re subbed. YouTube.com/cowboystv. Number three is Kenneth Murray. I thought he was better last week. There were still some moments of ah it wasn’t as good as I would have liked, but there were some good plays, some good moments out of Kenneth Murray. He has to do it again. That’s always been his issue. He’ll have a game or two that looks great and then kind of fades and then, you know, a a drive. He looks incredible and then fades away and then, you know, looks good for two drives and then struggles. I need a good game from Kenneth Murray because they will try to get the ball to the running backs and the tight ends plenty. He’s got to show up. Number two is fun for me. I can’t I’m doing this. I’m doing it. How about Brandon Aubrey? Is this the week that we finally let Brandon Aubrey try a 70 yard field goal? He can He can do it there. I have no doubts he has it in him. You know, 66 yards is the current record. He’s a yard shy. He did it last year for for for uh for the Cowboys. It’s mile high stadium. The air is or the ball will go further. I think he can hit it from 70. That whatever one he tried last week, the 63 61 yard was good from 70. And it wasn’t even in doubt. It was good from 70. I want to let him try as long as it doesn’t kill the game. Let him try a 70 yard field goal. He can do it. I want him to have the the high mark. So, will happen. I’m shooting my shot early. Wish I wish I could get uh I’m just going to call my shot early. Why for yes, N for no? Will he try the record long field goal this week? gonna cheat at number one. Two players, it’s the tackles, Tyler Gton and Terrence Steel. And this is a very tough matchup. I think underrated tough matchup for both of these guys. Nick Bonito is not a household name necessarily say like a Max Crosby, a Micah Parsons, a Trey Hendrickson, a um TJ Watt, Miles Gared. He’s awesome. He is a legitimate dynamic pass rusher. He is among the NFL’s lead league leader in sacks. So too is Jonathan Cooper. They don’t flip sides. Denver’s edge rushers. It’ll be Nick Bonito against Tyler Gayton and Jonathan Cooper against Terrence Steel. The Cowboys have done a good job as a team of Dak getting the ball out just in time. I am curious how much help they’re going to give. They haven’t done that much chipping. They’ve kind of put them on an island more than you might expect. Those two guys have to have a good game or it’s going to be tough for your offense to move the ball both on the ground and of course through the air. So, will the Cowboys make a trade before the NFL trade deadline? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Y for yes, N for no. Let me know in the comments of today’s video. Y for yes, N for no. 72% typing in their Y’s for yes. Steo says, “Stanic will only cover one, the other will eat.” I like what what Moss has done. I like what um Nick McMillan has done. It’s going to be a tough match up for you. I I promise you there. Chris Haz, I will try like hell to remember that. I I I will try. I will forget and I apologize for when I do, but it is Hz. I hate Carson Wentz. This goes on said, needs to be said. He is mega booty ass cheeks. We’re going to get Carson Wentz prime time. He’s doing something stupid. Promise you he’s going to do something stupid today, which which will be funny uh in the end. So appreciate all these super chats that came in on today’s live show. 1. I'd be happy with Jermaine johnson or phillips I'd be thrilled out of mind with crosby more expecting to be happy then thrilled hope not just disappointed

  2. Logan Wilson just requested a trade. Any idea if the cowboys are interested, because they should be. Also if the Bengals players are checked out does that mean Hendrickson could be back on the market.

  3. Y- FOR TRADE, CONDITIONING WILL BE A FACTOR AS MILE HIGH ATMOSPHERE IS TOUGH , AS MUCH AS I LIKE HENDRICKSON ,CROSBY, AND SIMMONS, THERE TEAMS ARE PUSING THE PRICE UP BY SAYING THEY WONT TRAE AND THERE NOT INTERESTED IN TRADING THEM, YET IM SURE OWNERSHIP WILL HAVE FINAL SAY. BUT WILLIAMS FROM THE JETS MAY BE HAD CHEAPER BUT JETS COWBOYS TRADE HISTORY STINKS, DUMP MAZI, ROTATE CLARKE, OSA AND I HEAR SIMMONS. INJURY IS NOT SERIOUS. GOTTA GO MAN AT LEAST 50/50 IN THIS GAME. KEEPEM GUESSING. GIMME C OF COURSE BUT BE WARRY AS I THINK THIS WEEK DAK WHO HAS BEEN LIGHTS OUT WILL BE VERY GOOD AGAIN BUT HE DOES THROW A PICK THIS WEEK AS DENVER CORNERS ARE VERY GOOD. THANKS tOM ALWAYS GREAT TO WATCH YOUR REPORT, AND PEOPLE PLEASE LIKE THIS VIDEO. WHICH IS FIRST THING I DO BEFORE WATCCHING AT ODD TIMES IN THE PHILIPPINES, PAY PICK ABSOLUTELY HAVING A GREAT NUMBER 1/2 RECEIVER SHOWS IF ONE GOES DOWN YOU CAN STILL DO WELL WITH ONE TOP RECIEVER AND WHEN BOTH ARE ON THE FIELD ITS AN EXPLOSION ON OFFENSE FOR THE COWBOYS. YES THE FISH HAVE SOME PASS RUSHERS, HOPE WE DO SOMETHING SPECIAL, GIMME CHARGERS, AND DP MUCH BETTER. JEAVONTE FIRST TD AGAIN, SORRY 4 CAPS

  4. This will be our first test honestly. Away game in the cold of mile high. AFC top 7 team.

Run game will be key for both teams. I think we run better.

Might be a shoot out like when Romo faced manning as a Broncos.

Will see. Either way will know alot about the team after this.

  5. Dallas gotta buckle down and stop the run. Played better defense against Washington. Since Denver likes to play man coverage, Lamb, Pickens and Turpin gotta get open. Hopefully, the OLine can protect Dak and get Williams holes to run through.
