Minnesota Vikings News Dump (10.24.2025) | Zay Screwed, Wentz Pain, Defensive Woes

What’s going on, Jeromes? It is indeed a beautiful Friday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, allegedly, allegedly, a Vikings fell on Thursday Night Football, which was just a treat to stay up late. and Al Michaels. Well, the the kick hit a hit had hit a wire in London. just it’s really frustrating too because the Chargers are not too dissimilar from the Vikings have had a lot of injuries wildly inconsistent and then you just get swacked. And that’s the frustrating thing about the Kevin McConnell regime is that way too often this team just does not show up right and that’s a fle reflection of leadership that’s a reflection of everything and you know off of the buy supposed to be good off the buy you fired up tan rested ready to go and they gave away the Eagles game and then this one was just a they may as well have not showed up. It’s just frustrating. And it is the Kevin McConnell versus jumping Jim Harbaugh bull. I wonder what would have happened, but I guess we’ll never know. And I still I still love and believe in Kevin Oonnell. I’m just We’re not mad, we’re just disappointed. Also a little mad. Yeah. Uh, and Carson Wentz I’m I’m actually fleshing out this conspiracy theory that maybe Kevin McConnell’s actually setting up Carson Wentz to fail. So, so JJ McCarthy looks good in comparison. And also, you refusing to play Brosmer because what a bromer had looked really good. Uh but Wentz, hey you 144 touchdown and a pick, five sacks, 67.5 quarterback rating was all over the map in terms of accuracy. Couple of hospital balls tossed in there and well at least he and Josh Macau had a nice little chuckle heading into halftime down 21 to3 which is just a which is just a good look. Yeah, and you know, we didn’t get uh we didn’t get the screen grab, but you know, JJ McCarthy on the sideline jumping out of the way of Justin Jefferson. Ankle’s looking pretty good. Yeah. Gestling strip. Kevin McConnell said if JJ McCarthy is healthy, he’ll start against the Lions. He thinks McCarthy is right around the corner from being ready to play. That says nothing. All right. And when it comes down to it, you’re starting McCarthy next Sunday, no matter what. Honestly, if Wednesday practice ahead of the Sunday game next week, if JJ McCarthy is limited in any capacity, we’re going to burn Udica to the ground because it just feels like Kevin McConnell has has failed all three of these quarterbacks this year, frankly. And maybe it’s because he’s got the contract. He’s got the ego. He’s a quarterback whisperer, man. I I know that Sam Darl, Daniel Jones, a Aon Rogers are looking good right now. But we we added Carson Wentz right before the start of the season. Damn it. As our backup quarterback, how how are things working? The guy that I bet my job on, I’m not going to let him play until he’s one bajillion percent. Yeah. Now, now part of it, again, going back to the conspiracy theory that maybe he’s just setting up Wentz to fail and may maybe if Darasaw and O’Neal were 100% and healthy on Thursday, like maybe they would have started McCarthy, but m maybe the throne uh went to the Wolves, pun intended, because um you know, McCarthy, you didn’t want him behind Justin School, Walter Rouse, I don’t know, but the pro show. I I feel like there’s something because Carson Wentz was clearly incapacitated. Like he he was injured, was not playing well, and w was never in danger of leading a comeback. This like this is not going to be the Browns game, right? He was limited by his injuries. And the Okcon didn’t toss Brosman in until under two minutes to go. Didn’t call timeouts on the drive. And again, Kevin McConnell is all about reps and process and football journey. Why? Why not try and get Max Bros a touchdown? Oh, because that would have taken away from JJ McCarthy because the fan base would have been split. Oh, Brosmer let a touchdown. The end of the Chargers game. Then we had 10 days of discourse of Brosmer or McCarthy. I honestly feel Kevin McConnell wanted to avoid that. So he limited Brosmer’s run and he he literally only start only put Brosmer in the game because Wentz physically could not go out there. And of course you know Kevin Connell postgame press conferences had everything that you would expect. Waget Sports Trip Kevin Connell nothing much to say. We got outplayed. Uh we got out coached. There’s uh there are no excuses. That is not in any way, shape or form our standard. It starts with me. I did not have our team ready to play. prepared to play. So nice that he’s taking ownership of the situation, but I don’t know, do something about it. And Darasaw, there’s so many damn things with this game. So Darasaw had an extensive workout pregame with coaches, medical staff, you know, decided to give it a go, uh, played two series, uh, and then hopped out. And then Justin School was at left tackle, Walter Rouse, uh, was at right tackle. Vikes vampage. Uh Kevin Kyle touched on Christian Darasaw based upon the idea of the type of injury he’s come back from. I’m not going to go into detail with what that injury was, but I would say there is a layer to Christian doing everything he can, but when he has a higher snap count or you’re on a very short week of travel, there’s just only so much we can do. You’re either healthy or you’re not. All right. And the whole thing with Darasaw like against the Browns on a pitch count taking him out of the game in on the final drive playing two drives uh against the Chargers on a short week. Either you’re healthy or not. Hey, if if you have reservations about your knee, don’t play because this whole pitch count half pregnant thing, it’s only going to get him hurt, right? If he doesn’t have 100% confidence, don’t even put him out there, right? And also, Darasaw being active took away another roster spot where you could have elevated uh a player like you could have had another player active on the game day 48, but now like Darasaw is extremely special player and love seeing him play, but if if he’s going to be tentative, he’s if he’s going to be less 100%. Don’t do it. Also guessing strip Kevin said Brian O’Neal came out of the Eagles game with some left knee soreness after playing through his right MCL injury on Sunday. So the other knee great O’Connell said the soreness might have come from O’Neal needing to compensate for the right knee injury and said we just couldn’t get that out of there. So you have Deraw on a pitch count not 100% confident his knee. Yeah, Brian O’Neal, both knees injured now. Great. Other than that, just feeling really, really good about things. Also, more injury news because why wouldn’t there be? Uh oh, this is the wrong caption. Anyways, Grard has an ankle. They’re going to monitor it. Also, Josh Josh Oliver was carded off the field with an ankle injury his own. They’re going to get some MRIs. uh Grard. So, it seemed like they they kept they kept Grard out of the game late. Uh it looked like he was wanting to return and you know the Vikings best defender be kind of good. Uh but the Vikings defense the last two games has been just so frustrating. All right, so last two games total 780 yards including 400 plus against the Chargers, six passing touchdowns, 8.125 yards per play which is not good. uh and also 12 of uh 23 on third down, right? And it’s issues all over the place. They can’t stop the run. They can’t defend the deep pass. They can’t get a consistent pass rush. They can’t stop a mobile quarterback, which apparently Justin Herbert’s more mo more mobile than Jaylen Herz, but it’s frustrating and it’s something that that has to get fixed. And yes, part and parcel is especially against the Chargers. The Vikings offense couldn’t stay on the field time possession. The Chargers won almost two to one. And it it’s a big issue. Yeah. Fatigue late in the games getting worn down, but just tackling has been bad, coverage has been bad, pass rush can’t close, everything’s going on, man. Yeah. Also, you know, so Jefferson, if this nonsense continues, I think Jefferson’s going to force a trade or politely to request a trade, and I don’t blame him at all. Vik page, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson says he’s surprised by where the team is at right now, but he says the team has to change something fast. We just got to think about what we need to do to change this thing around and figure out it figure it out fast. Yeah, he’s right. And I returning a McCarthy, does that solve everything? Probably not. But it also could solidify the quarterback position. You know, McCarthy doesn’t block on the offensive line. He doesn’t play defense, but having some continuity at the quarterback position where Jefferson has not had that throughout his time would be a good start. And also so many damn things happened in this game. You almost forgot. Like I feel like so the Vikings were here to play and you had Zay Rogers, you had the interception run back for a touchdown and then the review came in and of course when it’s ruled on the field as a touchdown, you need indisputable video evidence to overturn. And of course the Vikings had this issue last week with TJ Hawinson. Uh, but and again, the ball can contact the ground. I I always love the argument, well, the ball hit the ground. The ball can contact the ground. You just can’t lose control. And Isaiah Rogers clearly did not, but and even the replay um official uh on the broadcast is like, “Yeah, I’m not can’t overturn that.” Overturned. Yeah. Uh and then that led to a third and 13, which the Chargers picked up, and then a march down for a touchdown. So, the VI that was literally a 14-point swing. The Vikings went from a another pick six by Rogers to the Chargers scoring a touchdown. And I feel like they just never recovered from that. And Rogers, yeah, went on social media, good night, GN, and you talk about the Kelsey catch which also hit the ground and he did not maintain control after the ball hit the ground. But of course, that’s the Chiefs and the Vikings are the Vikings. also Devonte Smith and the Eagles. So, uh, and also so Pace Jr. sort of got unbenched and then I feel like he got benched again, but I feel like so there there’s a couple things going on. Well, first off, I still love this meme. Uh but also the just read the room, you know, and it it’s like this, you know, it’s like Macau and Wentz having a chuckle. Maybe WZ is down in the was down on himself. Sure. And Macau cracked a joke. You know, Gallow’s humor. But you know, fans watching this, that’s BS, right? And with Pace, Pace essentially got benched two games ago. Maybe he got benched tonight. Uh because Wilson played a lot of snaps. Uh Cashman had 11 tackles, Wilson had 10 tackles. So, it’s very possible that Pace got benched again. And after the game, you tweeting out the little care package that uh the logistics staff got for the players on the flight back. Little in-n-out action. A little double double. Let’s go. Little salt and vinegar chips. It looks like Yeah, In-N-Out. So, I know people love hating on In-N-Out. I respect it. So, it’s like In-N-Out, California, West Coast, What a Burger, Texas in the South, Culver’s in the Midwest. They’re all good. They’re all good, man. And but read in the room where it’s like you probably just got benched again. You You just lost in a no call, no show game. We got burgers. Yeah. Uh again, perception is kind of everything, but yeah. Yeah. Uh but now the Vikings do have 10 days. They got the mini buy. Uh get ready for Detroit next week with who are off of an actual buy. Great. And also the Vikings run defense can’t stop anyone again. So you got Jir Gibbs. But here’s what’s going to happen. All the money is going to go on Detroit. All the prop bet money is gonna go on Gibbs and Amanra and Jerigof and then all of a sudden Las Vegas is just gonna make a call. Hey. Hey. Hey, baby. It’s what we’re banking on. And also, I know it’s Detroit. I know their defense is humming right now. Eli McNeel is back. That’s a big deal. But do not care. Hopefully Darasaw and O’Neal will be good to go and let’s rock and roll, man. Because we got to try and do something. Carson Wentz is not the answer, but he’s banged up anyways as it is. So, get your guy. He’s 100 bajillion bazillion% with that ankle. And let’s go. That’s what we got to hang on to, man.   8. Kevin coddles the players , to afraid to get in a player's face when they screw up. He should not be a head coach, and i'm starting to feel that way about Flores. There must be something internally going on with this team that we aren't privy to.

To everyone saying we should have played Brosmer: my personal conspiracy theory is that Wentz was left in because once again, no QB in the league could have had a good game behind that o-line and KOC knew it, and he would rather the mediocre backup get clobbered than one of his young "QBs of the future."

  12. Kwesi screwed this team from the very start with 3 terrible drafts. No depth at ANY position. The ARROGANCE of picking up 20 re-treads thinking you're either gonna "fix" them or they're gonna take you to the superbowl is just ridiculous!

  15. KOC acted like a piece of shit after the game. When I look back at all of the successful coaches around the league in the past they would have rolled with what they had. Not letting Max have a shot shows there is a conspiracy going on. I want to note that McCarthy hardly played in preseason as well. He is basically a rookie with very few reps. What’s KOC hiding?

  18. The problem is bigger than whether JJ McCarthy is a good or bad quarterback. The problem has to do with the fact that the Vikings are going to waste two all time great wide receivers because they failed at the qb position

  21. Starting to feel like oconnell doesnt have full faith from the players and i feel like the defense shit the bed because they are tired of playing all out and the offense just sucks

  22. So we spend money on the OL AND the OL is still hot garbage. We brought in guys who have injury history and guess what Kwesi, they got injured. It really doesn’t matter who we have behind center they’re gonna get destroyed. They’re gonna put JJ in against the Lions , against that defensive line. This boy is gonna get crushed.

Why are you continuing to throw Wentz out there the whole game who’s CLEARLY injured, can barely keep his arm straight and isn’t himself. He’s giving his Olineman pitch counts?? either they’re good to play or their not!! Also his staff is approving players to play before they fully heal look at CD, Van Ginkel and Brian O’Neil. 3 core players, now they’re missing games. Tf is going on this year?

  25. The Vikings have a "culture" problem. The players are not playing to their ability. The OL is not good even when healthy. The D is soft and needs better coaching. The Blitz is not getting through!!! Stop blitzing already cuz its not working.

  28. I don't understand why the coaches are going "MUSH, MUSHHH for fuck's sake!" – Wentz showed he can't hit open targets, and he's riddled with injuries as well. Max is so obviously the better option. What are they seeing that the rest of us are missing?

  29. Pretty sure KOC knows what he has in Brosmer but also knows what he has for an offensive line, there are also rumors Carson Wence slept with KOC's wife before the game.. Not sure if that had something to do with Carson's fate last night…

  30. Some things that need to be addressed in my opinion:

    1. KOC’s mismanagement of the QB position. Last night was infuriating.

    2. We get penalized on damn near every kickoff/ punt return rep.

    3. KOC’s short yardage play calling is literally sabotaging drives and arguably costing this team games. He will not change.

    4. The medical staff needs to be fired. They’re approving players to play before they fully heal and it’s setting this team back. Look at CD, AVG and O’Neil for example

    5. Flores defense has personnel issues and is getting ripped apart, there’s no reason to be confident in them moving forward.

  31. If Jefferson is the "Best receiver in the NFL", then where was he? He does need to figure it out. As well as the other leaders on the team, and ESPECIALLY the coaches.

  34. KOC is a great coach as long as the oline is good and has a better than average QB behind center. I think his adjustments to personnel changes are lacking. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think any QB is going to be successful with the oline being what it is. If he starts JJ, he is going to either be injured or his confidence destroyed…..or maybe KOC knows JJ is not the franchise QB that was promised.

  36. First 3 times we touched the ball vs LAC, in order:

    1. Pick 6 overturned when it shouldn't have, per video.

    2. Block in the back on kickoff, for 1st and 10 on the 15 instead of our own 45.

    3. Wentz throws behind Jones in the flat for an incompletion, ruining what could have been an easy 7 yard gain on 1st down.

    I knew the game was over at this point, and sure enough…
