I’m starting to realize something

  1. No scoring and a somewhat above average defense. We are one Demko injury away from last place.

  2. Haha just enjoy the ride – don’t take it too seriously. Cheer for the Canucks and beak the other teams when we win, and just put your head in the sand with the losses. Buy some gear too if you want friends and family to constantly make comments about your choice of a favourite team – it’s all just entertainment

  3. We dont have a team. This all falls on aquaman.

He thought he knew better, hired torts. Fired Linden all because he interviewed yes men.

  4. Well. Definitely not great. Honestly should not be a surprise to anyone.

Lets hope they get healthy and pick up some top 3 support.

  5. I’d say we’re average. We got potential when we’re healthy, gives us a chance most nights. I think we are lacking that young superstar forward that other average to bad teams like Chicago and sharks have that make them entertaining to watch. Similar to the old oilers 5 years ago when they would score 5 but let in 6, gave lots to cheer about. We don’t have that so we rely on shutdown defence and strong goaltending right now. I’d say with lank in net and our current forward group we bad. We’re not the team that will out score problems on the backend.

  6. Half the team was in the AHL last year. They’re doing pretty good considering it’s basically a good ahl team playing proper NHLers.

  7. Going into this season I had major doubts. But reality sunk in when I looked at the schedule, and started noticing I was expecting more losses based on how good the opposing teams are.

That’s when I realized it isn’t so much how good other teams are, it’s how much we’re lacking in skill up front.

Always a Canucks fan, I think the team is playing with heart. Gutsy wins are happening. But when opposing teams turn it on, we just can’t compete. Unless Demko steals a game. It really is 2006 all over again, but without a future in sight

  8. We have almost the exact same roster as last year but arguably worse lol so I’m not sure why people thought this was going to be any better. We added Kane while losing Suter and Joshua lmfao. Our ownership sucks, this core isn’t going to compete for cups, they need to rebuild but refuse to do so. And to top it all off they’re about to lose the best player in franchise history for nothing because of their own stubbornness.

  9. I accepted this fact when we weren’t threatening at all during a 90 second 2-man advantage yesterday

  10. What was the expectation? 2 of the top 6 forwards from 2 years ago are gone (Petey and Miller). Boeser and DeBrusk are top 6 but not point per game players. The team generally forgot how to play offense after 2 years of Tocchet. There’s just not much offense.

  11. They did decent on the road trip but I just can’t see them sustaining anything close to this record. Just look at our roster. A few relatively minor injuries and we have Raty at our 2c.

No scoring, no depth, average defense, elite goaltending with a substantial injury history, team is too small. Just not a composition you win with (especially if we somehow sniff playoffs).

Keeping an eye on the team but watching them just isn’t enjoyable and its not like we can look forward to the future either.

  12. Honestly, the start of the season has me coming around to needing to trade Hughes for a bunch of assets that would align with a contention window for a team that is led by Cootes, the Abby guys, Lekky, Willander, D-Petey, etc.

  13. It’s a long roadtrip. As a fanbase we would benefit from a goldfish memory until 1/4 the season in at least

  14. How are you just starting to realize this? They re-signed a core that can’t even make the playoffs let alone compete for a cup. They have an at best 2nd line centre making 11.6/year. Their captain and Norris winning defenceman will be getting out ASAP probably for nothing in return. They are doomed until mid-2030s at a minimum

  15. Blow it up. Rebuild properly. If we commit to that, I’ll stay around, and I’ll see the rest of you in 5 years.

  16. This all started with the hiring of Benning and signing of Vrbata and Miller (Ryan), instead of selling off the pieces from the 2011 run.

I predicted a decade of being mid, and here we are.

Time to do what we should have done then. But sorry guys, this isn’t the canuck way. Get ready next year for a Huges trade that brings in some “win now” pieces.
