NHL Highlights | Maple Leafs vs. Sabres | October 24, 2025

It would be not pretty. He’s played lights out
for the Sabres here thus far. Kyle Raymond, John McKisac, the referees. Brandon Garowitz,
and Jonathan Desamp will work the line. Starting lineups brought to you by American Express. Matias
Samuelson on it there. Got it away for Tuck. Spins away from the check. Backhand to forehand.
Here’s a chance. Centered in front score. coming late. Matias Samson gets it done. Tuck. He
curls. He drags. He makes the slip pass right here in the middle to Ryan Mloud. Ryan Mloud looks
see Matias Samson. Samuelson uses the screen in front. Stlars has no chance with the screen.
This slip play on the back hand. What a play by Tuck and Mloud sees the late man in Samson and
Samson has all day. Absolutely, Steve. I mean, just a a guy that you really need to have going
if you want to win hockey games. Terrific plays. Backhanded towards the front of the net. Starlage
to his right. The puck went to his left. Here’s Knander on the break. William Knander shot. Score.
It rolls through Alex Lion. William Knander who led the NHL in breakaway goals last season. But
it counts. We’re tied at one. Start through this breakout here. It’s a jailbreak high flip right to
Willie Knander. And that’s Willie Knanders first non empty net goal of the year. He’s had two empty
netters. That’s the first one on a goalie. You get that high flip settle perfect little back spin
like a 60° lob wedge. Stops on a dime for Willie Knander and he pots it five hole to a shot right
on Lion had to make the save there. Work through for Zack Mets playing in his third NHL game. And
here’s Tage Thompson. Got to let go. What a shot. Koulique gets that one. What a tic-tac-toe
passing play that finishes with Yuri Koulique. Sabres. This starts all the way in the defensive
zone. Metsa makes a strike pass up to Thompson and Thompson. Beautiful little cross ice feed.
Absolutely perfect pass right on the back door to Kik. Buffalo Sabres are. Only one player
has ever scored their 500th goal in a Maple Leaf sweater. The great Mets Sundine raced out
in center. Look out. Here’s Speed. Guess who? Dander drew a penalty. Here’s Austin Matthews.
Got it through to N. Goes across to the middle and nobody could tee it up. Beck Malenstein
looking a break. 44 games without a goal. Malenstein nearly had it. Shorthanded opportunity.
Somehow that turned into a twoon one. Malenstein and Buffalo tremendous on the penalty kill. You
highlighted that in the open, EJ, even though he had a short-handed goal there. Toronto was caught
tired. Malenstein has great speed and just managed to get that nice chance there at the end. Here’s
Max Doy makes the move. Lets it go. Excellent pad stop there on Allen by Alex Lion on Doy. Max
Doi sitting with one goal in this the eighth game of the season for Toronto. Another turnover.
10 seconds left in the power play. Quinn back. Got all the way across. And a save. Skolars made the
save. All while short-handed. Too far for Knander. Drop the pass. Couldn’t make the play. Leafs have
another chance to set this up. They burned off a minute on the two-minute power. Touch shot in.
Score. Austin Matthews from the angle getting Alex Lion going post to post. And Toronto
with a power play goal. They tie it at two. This is so slick by the Toronto Maple
Leafs. They use every inch of the ice here. They have to respect the shot at
Tvaris in the middle, but he slingshots it on the back door. Really tough for Alex
Line to make that push. Has the glove there, but Matthews is able to elevate it just over the
glove. Really great stuff from the Leafs power play. Feels good for them to get on the board
there with that power play units. for Austin Matthews. He picked up his first power play point
of the season. That’s That’s hard to believe in the eighth game of the season. All right, here
they come. Peter lets it go. It’s got looking to break back the other way. Here’s Matthew
Nye. Breakaway in backhand. Saved by Alex Lion. Sandson got mates to the official got
it back. Koulique able to get it ahead. They’re going to break now. Thompson
leaves there. Get the reverse feed. Tage Thompson. Little give and go. Gets it back
and gives Buffalo the lead. Three to two. Off the rush. But this starts in the Buffalo defensive
zone. They come 200 ft again just like they did at the end of the first. They come 200. Fire
him on the entry. Makes that little slip pass right into the honey hole for Tage Thompson.
and he handles it on the buttercup of the blade and buries it blocker side. Beautiful
rush by the DI is in deep. Rolls around for Krabs. Sabres are set up pretty well here.
Got it all the way through. Samson shot the score. Matia Samuelson lights the lamp again.
Second of the night and the Sabres lead by two. He sneaks down the backside here. Dene one
touches it on the back and Samuelson picks his spot. Head up the whole way. Pulls and
shoots and snipes it over the Koul League trying to work it free. But it’s the Leafs
who come away with Machelli for McMahon on his backhand away from Samuelson. It’ll
circle the cage back to the point. Look for the turnaround. Machelli. What a move.
And how did that not go in? 42 hockey game. Mloud right back. He’s got it through for
Dome. Shanners trying to play a goalie and he says it’s in. Don is celebrating.
The official waves it off immediately. Dakota Joshua to work three. Nicholas Wah has it. W loose puck in
front. Dakota Joshua gets the critical goal for Toronto. And the Maple Leafs deficit is reduced
to one. He elects to cut back on the other side of the net. And Joshua right here. W cuts back,
finds Joshua. Savers can’t box out. Not one, not two times. Joshua gets a crack at it. Puck goes
off. Byum skate. Brian makes the first save and the puck just pops out right in front of Dakota
Joshua. Huge goal for the Maple Leafs to make this a one-goal game 2 minutes into the third.
Really good hard caves in deep for the benchman. Sabres look to counter and take advantage. Saucer
pass very nice and across the line. Zucker to the middle gets the return. Oh, what a save by some
great action up and down the ice. Little give and go from Quinn to Zucker. Look at that. Look at
that push on a podcast or radio show or walk into an NHL building. So much love and support for our
old coach Barry Miller. What a legend he is. Yeah. Here’s another break. Jack Quinn’s got a step.
Roars in. Saved by Snowhorn. Lion got over for the pants. Save. Matias Machelli robbed for the second
time tonight. Buffalo comes back. He scores. Alex Tuck short-handed goal and Buffalo
back on top by two. Savers counterattack the other way. Owen Power knows he has
time. Knows he has Alex Tuck streaking down. Tuck shows forehand makes Stard open
up the five hole and slips it. Line was terrific. Sabres played hard in front of
him. The Leafs played hard too. Another faceoff win. Topy gets in. Shot deflected
and that’s kind of the story of the game.

  1. Another good win for the Sabres. It’s nice to see them playing with confidence in themselves and having fire in their bellies. As I’ve said before please boys don’t lose this momentum. Also, gg Leafs we will see you tomorrow in your turf.
