Will Campbell is proving his doubters wrong | Patriots 1st Down

question. Question will Campbell, how you doing today? Um, I wanted to ask a question. Um, how has it been for the first seven weeks for you in the NFL? You know, you have a great leader at Morgan Moses that shows you the way. How has it been? I mean, I think you kind of said it for me. Whenever you have someone as great as Morgan Moses around, life is just butterflies and rainbows every day. Ah, they loose in the locker room having fun. Morgan Moses having some fun with Will Campbell in the locker room today. Campbell the third overall pick has played terrific as the Pats left tackle regardless of his hand size. Remember, everybody’s making a big deal about his hand size. Today, he was asked if he’s proved all his doubts wrong. I know uh that I was chosen here for a reason. Uh so it was never really about proving anybody who said that my arms were too small wrong. I was just coming here to try to help this team. And you know, I uh just want to keep continuing to do that uh each and every week in any way that I can. But I’m really not worried about what anybody else has to say. Well, Cam, I say he was the third overall pick. Actually, he’s the fourth overall pick. Peaches could have been the third, though. He’s been playing. No question about it. Uh let’s talk about the offensive line. Let’s talk about Will Campbell because Campbell uh you know what? When his name’s not mentioned, that means he’s doing pretty well. Yeah, he is. Stephen, I think you you heard him talking right there. He is just really steady for a young player, you know, at that position, he just mentally he’s just very very like in the, you know, doesn’t ride the ups and downs. A lot of times with rookies, you know, it can go up and down. And he told the story today, Steve, in the locker room, so you know, you talked about hand size and arm length, like his his shorter arms. Remember that whole topic of conversation leading into the draft? Oh, is are his arms long enough to play left tackle? He told the story about how someone sent him a T-Rex in the lock to to the stadium that he had in his locker. These like little And can you imagine being a rookie in the NFL and someone sends you a T-Rex into your locker? That’s right. And and he but he said he laughed about it and that and that and then he looked at the return address and he said, “Oh, maybe I’ll send something back.” But but Steve, the whole point being like, you know, that’s what you’re getting from, you know, uh you’re in the NFL, but the way he handles it, he just lets it roll off his back. So pretty impressive mentally. Joe Giza sent me an alligator once. I I saw you. You handled it, Peter. I appreciate that.

You haven’t heard Will Campbell’s name too much this season, which is great news for the Patriots rookie left tackle. He’s more than held his own and is proving his pre-draft doubters wrong through the first seven weeks of the season.

  1. When you’re an offensive lineman and you go fourth overall in the NFL draft, the expectations and pressure can be enormous. I’m glad to see that he has a good head on his shoulders, hasn’t succumb to the pressure, and is playing great football. He is learning, he’s growing, and it’s great to see the organization getting a return on its investment. I wish this young man nothing but the best and hope he has a fantastic career in the NFL

  2. Mr. Will Campbell is doing a very good job for his rookie season. But seriously if Mr. Campbell needs any inspiration or guidance. He need look no further than studying films of New England Patriots Hall of Famer John Hannah. Who today is recognized and arguably as the NFL greatest offensive linemen to ever play the game.

  3. He looks decent. But he was the fourth pick in the draft so decent isn’t good enough. Hopefully he improves but let’s not go overboard here

  4. In Typical New England fashion the sports talk guys were crucifying Will Campbell because his arm length was a 1/2 inch shorter than average. Didn't like the pick, didn't like the player. And just like the sun will come up tomorrow they didn't have a clue about what they were talking about. That means you, Beetle, Maz, Felger, Zo, they all said he wouldn't be able to handle pass rushers in the NFL because of a 1/2 in arm length. You know if they called their own show with some of their own takes they would hang up on themselves and say that's stupid, you don't know what your talking about. Keep up the good work guys.

  5. Will, was a great pick but the o-line is til missing that nasty road grater player like a Logan mankins..we need some nasty to go with the fitness.
