Mike Brown on the Knicks’ 105-95 victory over the Celtics: “A tale of two halves”
A tale of two halves you know Boston did a great job
of staying with whatever they their game plan was you know I thought in the first
half we did a great job even start the game of playing the right way just
making simple plays touching the paint and spraying
it. We had 12 sprays in the first half and that’s the
way we want to play. They’re a good defensive team
and good defense teams. Usually are heavy shift team. They want
to protect the paint and I thought our first 10
possessions we had probably five wide open Catch and shoot
threes. It just didn’t go in that normally go in but our guys stayed with it they
didn’t go away from the way we play the
game of basketball. And and finally, the search I started
going in and then, you know, our defense
picked up a little bit and we went on a big run. You know our second unit. No, Tyler Jordan. I think Josh is out there. Yeah boo. You know those guys
made Mikhail might have been mixed in Rog might have been
mixed in those guys really, really good. Jordan end up being our defense
player to game, but because he sparked us, I thought
defensively during that time but it could have been. It
could’ve been anybody? Tyler it in the in the game with I think
four or five deflections if not more Josh man. Monster monster Monster. Now,
Josh could have easily got it as well. He guarded everybody.
Not only did he guard everybody. He had six offensive, rebounds eight defense revenge for I don’t know if I’ve ever
seen this before. 14 rebounds in 19 minutes just a phenomenal
phenomenal game during the dirty stuff by Josh and and again I thought
that group they were huge for us and the second quarter help. Let us get the lead but in
the second half again tale of two halves. I thought their pressure
bothered us a little bit with 16 turnovers first half. We had
16 assists, second half we had seven assists and so when we
were touching the paint, we weren’t spraying it. We’re
taking tough shots. When We Touch the paint and it resulted in them getting
a nice little run and making a game of it. So give them a lot
of credit. I know. They feel like they can play better. I truly I believe we could play
better. We just got to keep trying to
string it together for 48 minutes. The right way. You know, we just wanted to do
that because they started small they
had you know, four guards along the perimeter and you know I wasn’t sure how fair
would be for Ariel and or or cat to guard one of those
guards and start the game and you know we feel like we’re
extremely versatile. This team is and we can play a lot of
different ways and that’s why I made the move. Now I could have put it back in.
Yeah, he was cramping. He’s cramping. Yeah. Yeah, just just got, you know, if if I feel that we need to match
up I may go that way. If I fill of we don’t I may go there, you know again all our guys need to be ready to
play. Whether it’s starting the game
or finishing, a more plan in the middle of the game. So the starting lineup is is nice
but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter much to me.
Now to those guys in the locker room, most of them, maybe it
does. I don’t know, but I have a lot of confidence in this
whole entire roster so we could start a lot of
different ways. I thought they got some good
looks too and they knock some
down, you know, in the same breath, I
thought we did as well, and that’s kind of what happens.
Especially verse a good team. They’re, they’re extremely well, coach,
they play hard, you know, they move a lot and they do a good job of trying to
share the basketball. It’s been great. You know, we haven’t shot the ball, well,
you know, for quite yet, you know, we 38%. I think 30 little
over thirty eight percent from the to tonight and decent from
the three at 37 38 percent, but, you know, the 21, Rebounds and I said it Joshua’s
a an absolute monster on the glass and then cat had
six and then everybody else, you know, you talk about. Yeah,
vesely. He had three in the short minutes and
everybody else sprinkled in with one or two here. And and so
the effort on the glass is helping us generate winds. While
we’re still trying to X find out how to play the right way, all
fensively, but but we’re getting there and
we’re learning every day. You know, I get them around 20
minutes tonight was was our goal. If it was a little bit more than
that than great, he end up playing 19 so he was close and
have the game that he had and that short amount of time was
phenomenal to watch. And you know again, Then it just it adds to our team
and as to the versatility of our team and adds to the
defense into the floor when it comes to us garden and being
able to do a lot of different things. So I was excited to see Josh out
there. Engine whirring. How do you evaluate town so far as that
sort of Hub and his decision-making with the ball
and sort of the quickness that you guys are getting into
actions through pretty good? You know, he missed
a lot of time so he’s playing a little catch up but
he’s doing a great job especially for the amount of
time that he’s been. He’s been able to practice. I
think he missed two, two or three preseason games. That’s two or three preseason
games. He missed the practice, Has along with it. And so he’s kind of learning on the fly
to in with us playing four and seven nights. It’s, it’s hard to practice and, you know, so they have to keep
learning during the Florida game. They got to keep
learning watching film and and us talking to him. And, you know, I give them a lot
of credit because he’s doing a great job of trying to
learn five all five positions. and I think our guys know it and, you know, when we get that
ball off the glass, or we create a turnover with our
activity, and we just have so many Happens in so many guys that can
push the pace. You know we want to be able to
attack before that defense is set and we showed flashes of it tonight. We just got to try to string it
together now for a little closer to 48 minutes.
Mike Brown explains the Knicks starting strong, having too many turnovers and believing that this team can play better.

Sloppy towards the end but I'll take the win
Knicks 2-0 Let’s Go!
Coach of the year 🎉
Terrible second half like 6 minutes of no field goals and 16 turnovers
Thank God OG is good. I Was nervous … Go Knicks. KOLEK is looking good.
a little sloppy towards the end but glad we stayed committed to staying to a 10man rotation and not overusing players in early season games.
we're locked in for the endgame – process > results.
Good win Knicks I don’t know why they didn’t show the game
The Knicks’ utilization of wheel spacing to manipulate help defense has already led to a really strong mix of three-point volume and efficiency. Excited to see that keep developing. Awesome.
Why is Clarkson only playing 16 minutes. He is one of your best scorers and u r struggling to score and you dint out him in. Get Clarkson in before Hart
More time ti the bench, that the way Knicks are winnig
NICE win at home – LOVE beating Cleveland AND Boston to start things off. Ok, 80 games to go – LOL
Mike Brown's coaching is so refreshing. 🧡💙
THANK YOU MIKE BROWN
CREAMED THEM!
Josh Hart is making too much money to be a glorified bench player, he shouldn’t start either
Rob Base Awards
I love how he’ll openly talk about data he’s using
Thank god we got a real coach
This is probably the best team Brown has ever coached. I think he's going to do good things here.
I don’t expect us too look smooth this early… but the 2nd 1/2 turnovers were alarming
I really don’t understand why KAT IS ALWAAYS ON THE FLOOR??
I have never in my life seen a “big” who is always on the floor
It leads to 5 on 4 fast breaks and easy open 3s
He is always crying for a call….extremely annoying
Yabusele needs to slim down to thrive in our offense
Clarksons shot selection is abysmal
Really hard not to like this coach
Dec 7th we will be 22-4
hart looks like fish out of water. I fear he will be traded. Something is off.
Um have you heard of a guy name Dennis Rodman? He had more than that in rebounds.
No team is playing 48 minutes of perfect basketball, they did a great job staying committed to the plan. They took the punches and they maintained control and won the game. Cant ask for anything else. I am sure they'll get better as the season progress. 2 down 80 to go LFGK.
I must say he is correcting the mistakes thibs made good job early on
Let's goooooooo
Good news on OG that was scary
The Knicks are playing with a new sense of urgency
Tom Snitchodeau was holding the team back, specially my boy Kolek!! Imagine if Payne minutes were given to Kolek from the start!!
Sprays???
Coach of the year incoming
Ok, midtown Mike! We see you 😅
It was a great game. Could the Knicks have done a little better, for sure. Still too many turnovers, mental mistakes, poor judgements. But they have played 2 of the very best teams in the entire league and beat them respectfully, so congrads to the team and the coach. So happy with coach Mike Brown so far, great coach. Don't think the Knicks play the Thunder during the season but I think overall they are the team to beat. And lastly, I have seen a remarkably improved defense from the Knicks which is great as well.
He is the best coach we have had since Woodson!
Lets go coach
