Did we have the wrong Eric saubert the whole time, or did we just sign the wrong one?
He’s got some big shoes to fill. We’ll see if he’s up to it.

What an absolute masterclass by JS. Eric saubert was a complete disaster and was getting beat damn near every snap. To release him and get Eric saubert, a proficient blocker and great pass catcher for nothing? Just wow.
Hopefully a big upgrade, but seems like a lateral move.

I keep reading the release and resigning was a “procedural move,” does anyone know what that means? Like saving money, cap space, or rights or something?

> Saubert was on a veteran salary benefit contract, so the team was prohibited by the CBA from giving him a raise or signing him to a contract extension. If the two sides wanted to sign an extension, the only way to do so would be to terminate his original contract and then sign him to a new contract.

I’m about 50% surprised it doesn’t seem like we’re trying to get Lockett back. I think he would really open things up for JSN so he doesn’t get double or triple-teamed

Probably released him to clear room for lockett but when the signing took longer they left him on the roster.
