Seattle Mariners ALCS Game 7 Thoughts 💭
something that was echoed and preached and talked about a ton during spring training and throughout the season and specifically when Cal signed his contract at the beginning of the season was nobody wants to feel how they felt at the end of 23 or 24. Those guys that had been there, done that, came up short, whatever, they better feel that times a thousand after this moment after being on the precipice of franchise history to come up short with that glaring three-run home run from George Springer in the seventh inning where it’s so painfully obvious it feels like to go to Andre Munoz. I get that Bazardo’s been awesome all year long. That is a moment that Dan will learn from and he has to learn from it or else he will be out of a job faster than he expects. He will be back next year. He’s not going anywhere, I don’t think. But he has to go to Andre Munoz there. And he knows that now cuz he learned a lesson and so many players and so many aspects of this team learned a valuable lesson in this seven game series. It’s a long, arduous, grueling battle. I hope that the amount of people and the time and energy that went into everything is not understated by any means. This was a phenomenal season, the best season in franchise history in terms of how far that they’ve made it, how close they were, plain and simple. I’m not regretting. I’m not dis dejected from this team in any way, but it feels so much worse when you are one inning, one blemish. That’s what separated you from being eliminated and going to your first ever World Series. They learned from it. They will absolutely learn from it. They will take it and go into next year. and all of the players on this team, whoever is returning next year, will undoubtedly not want to feel what they felt tonight. And I hope that that means that we will be back sooner in the sit in a similar situation with a chance to make franchise history sooner rather than later. I think the core of this team is good enough to do it again. I don’t know how soon and a lot of it depends on how the free agency and offseason goes and ultimately how things pan out. But one thing is for certain is that it’s Mariners till I [ __ ] die and until one team decides to raise that trophy.

Honestly, they should have moved away from woo at the beginning of that inning
It gets hit 3 feet to the left, and JP starts a double play and they get out of the inning. Baseball, baby!
You know what gets you to a World Series? Hitting the damn baseball. When your 5-9 hitters are collectively averaging about .150 for the postseason, you’re not going anywhere. Even Randy, Julio- sub .200. Naylor and Cal were carrying the entire offense on their backs the entire postseason. The fact that we were even in game 7 is incredible considering the sheer statistical advantage the blue jays had on offense. You can only survive on home runs and fairy dust for so long, and we found out exactly how long that was. 6 innings into game 7 of the ALCS. And what a fucking ride it was. I hate this team. I love this team. See you guys next year!
My thought was if they went to the world series they'd run it back and sign Naylor. If they didn't they'd purge a healthy portion of the roster to make room for the young kids and stink for another 5 years
You can’t win by striking out. You have to hit the ball. I don’t see how you could be proud of this team. What did they do well?
This one hurt. Still mega proud of these boys. Wanna see ownership run this core back so hard. Glad I got to meet you and Colby on my trip from Arkansas. Bummed our guys couldn't pull it out, but GOMs forever 🔱
it was a lesson he should not have had to learn, that being said fire him
Give it up!!!!! LOSER.
Lets Go Blue Jays!!!!
Why did he pull Kirby so early is what I want to know?
I agree you have to go to your best guy and we will never know but Andres has struggled with guys on base. Arguably bazardo has come through working out of a jam. I do wish that woo never started that inning. I think the blame sadly falls on the offense. All the runners in scoring position and no big hit to break it open.
Well spoken
Yeah they prolly aren’t doing this again sadly, Dan Wilson sucks, not just tonight the entire play offs, oh and regular season, how do you let Rivas hit and pinch hit for canzone holy fuck brutally stupid
Love you, M’s nation ❤
Blaming it all on Bazardo, acting like Munoz pitching two innings was the difference between winning and losing, is a cop out. It was nearly a complete team effort to let this one go
Resign polo naylor get a bullpen arm and a bat
It wasn't just not putting Munoz in at the bottom of the 7th. They lost 4 out of 5 with 3 games on their home field and all that entailed.
Garbage franchise somehow finds new way to terrorize fanbase. Why is anyone surprised? Embarrassing franchise, Embarrassing week of performances. Actually horrible.
But do we still blame Dan if he goes to Muñoz and Springer still homers?
George Springer continues to live rent free in all of the Seattle Mariner fan head base heads. The Astro’s will never die. Expect the team to look significantly different next year. The return of Naylor, Suarez and Polanco are doubtful due to the franchise reluctance to participate in free agent signings. Ownership is responsible for this failure. Yes, they did trade for Naylor and Suarez. However, the true failure came over the last 2 to 3 years when our pitching staff was at the very least in the top 3 of all of baseball. But, we couldn’t hit our way out of a paper bag. This year, our starting pitching took a step backwards. Injuries were a contributing factor, and basic wear and tear. The bats arrived late in the season, but the pitching was a little off. I’ve followed the team since they were born in 1977. I’ve never been so disappointed in my entire life. I’m not sure they’ll get this great of a chance to play in the W.S. In the rest of my life time. Go M’s. Hope springs eternal.
They need hitters not home runs all the time. Plus speed on the bases
Up 2-0 to losing a best of seven is unacceptable, and I blame the players. The pitchers who blew it, the hitters who choked. Unsat.
Had Castillo too
He needs to be fired
Still the worst franchise in the history of baseball, I don't even want to hear the bullshit, they suck.
We would have lost pretty quick in the dance against the 300 + million dollar Dodgers
And by a cheating Astro, no less.
I'm just broken…not for me but for them. They've played their butts off this year. It's been a hard fought battle!
I hate to say this, but "Why didn't they walk Springer" is the new "Why didn't they run the ball with Marshawn?"
I think what makes this sting even more is I could see them take a step back year to make room for a lot of the prospects coming up. It’s not reasonable to expect all those guys to be good right away. Hopefully I’m wrong and ownership responds properly and gives us a full season with this good of a roster.
That shouldn't be a lesson that needed to be learned. Your facing the top of the order with the tying run on base. This is pasing at the one yard line all over again
We’re pretending JP wasn’t 20 feet of 2nd base to miss double play on Woo single???????????
They got 2 hits right away off Munoz. So in that case with 2 on, score is tied or ….??
Mariners essentially played well in game 7. They lost mojo with Springers blast and so did Toronto with Julio's and Cal's blast. The difference was batting 7.8.9.
That scream from Julio when they were talking to Woo was all of us
Honestly, I would rather see them loss like this. Rather than get swept by the Dodgers. Well you can say goodbye to Suarez and Randy and Ferguson.
They shouldn't have walked Springer. WOO was great in those 2 innings but shouldn't have been brought back for a 3rd.however,still extremely proud of these guys!
Heres the big problem, how is this team going to improve going forward? We were last, dead last, in batting average with runners in scoring position. We went all in to get suarez and naylor. Julio hits .220 in the playoffs. Robles Canzone Rivas Suarez Crawford Arozarena all hit below .230 in the playoffs. We have a major major problem thats not going to be solved with farm system guys, we’re not clutch our guys don’t know how to move runners and hit for contact with people on. We’re losing one of our 5 starters in the next year or two. I think its gonna be a long long time until we’re back.
I'm just worried front office will not do anything. We need a DH bad.
I was scratching my head in game 6 when they brought in Bazardo while down 5 in the 5th if I recall. Considering game 7 was the next day and he has been their best reliever not named Munoz throughout the post season. At any rate.. while it ended painfully all in all a successful season. One important thing is ownership saw was how much money they could have made if there was FINALLY a WS in Seattle. Hopefully that motivates them to spend the money to not only bring back Naylor but also Polanco (shout out on the rebound year). Plus find another outfielder (right field)but also an infielder (third basemen). Not having about 20% of your payroll going toward a guy sitting the season out and a back up catcher will help as well.
MARINERS TILL I FUCKING DIEEEE
And walk a known home run hitter when you got a lead 3-1 things could have been done just differently enough to grasp the win😕🫶🔱
As a jays fan it hurt my soul seeing Seattle lose I was honestly rooting for you guys
You seem to have forgotten that Schneider made the same mistake in Game 5.
You had 5 chances to win 2 games. You didn’t
