Welp, I guess after 1 year of being “right”, Chris Simms can go back into the trash can. Wondering when someone would show this infamous graphic.
Yes it did
In all fairness, Drake was a Talented Project.
He’s no worse than a lot of scouts and gms. Brady went in the 6th. Trubisky was picked before Mahomes. Rodgers and Marino were picked in the latter part of the first rd. Favre went in the 2nd. Montana went in the 3rd….
Statistically so far all six of those quarterbacks although in the wrong order are still pretty good. The only one I’m still concerned about is McCarthy.
Yeah I’m a big Simms fan, and genuinely his draft QB record is pretty good compared to most of the media I think, but this was a big oof. At least he’s said he’s happy to have been proven wrong. If you listen to his episode after we beat the Bills you will see he’s pretty high on us as a team right now. I think he’s picking us to win the division.
It hasn’t been nearly long enough to say whether it’s aged badly. It’s barely *aged* at all — much less badly or well.
The tiers he made makes it worse.
Caleb looks mediocre at best and i think hes gonna be a okish starter that gets replaced eventually. Generationally mid QB.
Jayden looks legit if he ever can stay healthy but guys with that frame and style of play dont last.
I actually like Bo hes not a bad QB at all but Maye clears, Pennix is mid, and JJ is straight dogwater anyone who thought he would be good in the nfl is out of their minds
He was a talented project Qb. The thing is he progressed really quickly. I thought it would take him year 3 to be a great player.
I mean talented project aint wrong, luckily hes panning out and projects near completion
Chris Simms is an untalented nepo baby hack who sucked as an NFL QB so I wouldn’t take much from his hot takes. It’s fun watching him be wrong all the time though 🙂
Ryan Poles must have been chilling with Simms pre-draft
Caleb Williams being mid is the most obvious thing if you look back at him in college.
These comments are actually destroying my braincells lmao
Ya I am not letting Chris Simms off the hook for his bad Drake Maye pre draft take. He was the only mainstream analyst that was this low on Maye and it felt like forced clout farming at the time and sure enough, he’s run from it this year.
If Maye stinks he’d be insufferable with the ‘I told you so’s’ so he can live adrift in the sea of bad takes while the rest of us party on Drake Maye Isle.
What gets lost in much of what goes into analyzing a QB is how much the imterviewing process matters. Getting to meet, go over film, and pick at what makes a QB tick is invaluable information that is really only available to a few people outside of organizations. Certainly, very few scouts and even fewer mock draft guys are ever going to get the opportunity. KoC and Daboll knew what Drake was capable of when they met with him. They saw just how cerebral he was and how quickly he could learn new concepts. That’s just something you won’t be able to pick up on if you only observe a guy’s film. Maye’s talent was great, but his work ethic, processing, and leadership have all helped him get to where he is now.
I honestly think that the 2024 class will be the opposite of the 2021 class; I think at least half of these players will play for their franchise for 10 years and a small chance that all of them do. As opposed to 2021, where we have at best 1 mid starter, 1 semi-successful reclamation project, 1 failing reclamation project, and 2 busts.
Lol 3 so call franchise qb still notfrnachise qb yet
Chris Simms is all you need to know that it’s going to be very, very wrong.
I mean, talented projects usually have the highest ceiling but their floors are very low. While the takes are a little weird, I don’t think they’re inherently wrong.
I understand how people may have some doubt on him before since he’s the only non-SEC / B10 QB on the list.
This just makes me appreciate Drake and the Pats management more, as Drake has worked hard to prove himself, while the management actually is trying to help him achieve success, by acquiring weapons and protection he needs.

I mean it’s impossible to predict the future.
