Elias Pettersson, Lukas Reichel & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks vs. Canadiens (Oct 25, 2025)
Yeah, I think we started good. Um, second pair was pretty good. I think uh that’s 57. I think they got some momentum and and in the third I think I don’t know they got some bounces but we got to do a better third when we play play with the lead. You proud of the way you guys pushed once you got behind to try and get back into it? Yeah, I mean it’s hard to be proud when when you stand here uh losing the game, but uh I mean the effort’s there but we just got to tighten up some spaces. Is that the kind of a game where that shows what a swing of momentum penalties can create? Yeah, definitely. I mean, they have a lot of good players. Um, and we if you give them too many opportunities, they might capitalize. I mean, I I like our power play power play uh PK. Uh, we’re playing good, but um yeah, it’s tough. How about your power play? How did you feel about that element of the game tonight to get a goal? Yeah, felt better. Um but we just got to that’s one goal. We want got to got to bring it to every game and um yeah they score a couple power back plays. Is that something that you identified in a pregame scale? Yeah, we identify it. I mean they they’re going to make plays. We’re going to try read them. They’re going to try break our PK. But um yeah um today they came came up top. Personal level. you feel like your individual performance? I don’t I mean, yeah, feels better myself, but um stand here losing the game, I don’t really care about that, right? Changing the focus with Edmonton tomorrow now in another big game. Yeah, I mean Edmonton’s Edmonton uh top team uh top players. So, um another big big test for us and um reset and be ready for them. Your thoughts on adding Lucas Reich to the lineup? Uh he looked good. um big change of scenery from him moving and everything, but uh he looked good out there playing with speed, confidence, and uh that’s what um what I’d like to seen off him playing against him. So, it’s good to have him on the team. Yeah, dropped it to Ron and uh he made a great play. I tried to find a back door area in case the puck found me and it was right in the tape. So, let’s just try to hit the net for the open goal. So, you have some chemistry with Garland. What do you like most about playing with him? He’s a good player, make plays, but um yeah, he he’s been showing it all these years here, but I think this year been taking more steps in his personal uh yeah, it was like just really quick everything. Um I think when I got the call packed for 2 hours and I went to the airport and uh so I went like everything pretty quick and um yeah so uh it’s like always tough to leave uh you know your buddies and a team. Uh but I think uh it’s a good opportunity here for me and I’m really looking forward uh to it. Great city uh great team. So um yeah. Can you say the opportunity getting to play right away with some quality players on your way? Yeah, it’s uh it was fun. It was definitely not um my best game. I uh I still got more to to give, but I feel um yeah, I felt good, especially in the first two periods and uh just try to get my legs going and uh gain some confidence and uh try to keep it simple and uh um the boys helped me a lot. You haven’t played a ton of center at the NHL level, but how confident are you in your ability to play down the middle? Yeah, I think it’s uh fine uh everywhere on the ice. It’s just uh today if you look at the draws um I’m not happy with that, but I’m working on it. Um the last yeah like you said the last uh couple years I’m didn’t take as much draws as I wanted to but um working on it but uh you know as a center I can gain my speed and use my speed a lot so uh that’s where I’m most comfortable at. Your first game for a Canadian team an all Canadian matchup on a Saturday night with a great atmosphere in the building. What was that like? Yeah, it was great. Uh I think you could hear the fans. Um it was awesome. Great atmosphere and uh uh always fun to play here. Talked about admiring Julius Person before. What’s it like being on a team with him now? Uh great. Uh just like watch him even today when he’s on the ice. Just so smart. a really smart player and um I can’t wait to you know talk to him in practice and um ask him questions and um so hopefully he can help me out a little bit. On a personal level is do you like the fact that you’re going to be playing three games in four nights right out the bat? I mean I don’t have a choice but um it’s it’s good. It’s good. Uh, I I want to play. I want to play as much as I can and I uh want to show everyone uh what I can bring on the ice. With a 4:00 start today, arriving close to uh game time, what was your pregame uh preparation like today? Uh I went was here at the rink. Um had some food. Um didn’t have much time to nap. Uh just took a shower. uh dressed up and went to the to the game. It was uh pretty quick everything and uh I just can’t wait to like settle in a little bit and uh have a couple days, couple practices, games in me here and uh then I feel probably more comfortable. Start with your assessment, Adam, on the game as a whole for your group. Played a good hockey game. I mean, we out chanced them by a fair amount. Five on five. it was four or four chances on the on the special teams. So, um you know, when there was a subtle mistake, it seemed like they were able to capitalize uh you know, very very close one. You know, it was a close game that way. So, uh we we were we gave nothing for a very long time and um you know, maybe two subtle breakouts where one we get a penalty off it at the end of the period, we could have skated that one out. Um you know, and then we had a rushed on a on a goal. We had a rushed breakout that we could have probably came around that and skated that one as well. And that’s that’s how fine the game is when it it comes to, you know, to little things like that, but it was it was a game we uh had full control of. You didn’t take a lot of penalties in the game, but is this an example of how the wrong penalty at the wrong time can really hurt you in terms of when you gave up? They were getting the next power play. We all know that. I mean, we’ve been around hockey a long time. So, um, but it was more of it was more of just uh we could have maybe we were talking at the end. Maybe we could have had a little bit better of a breakout. We would have got in that situation. Um, you know, it’s little subtle things. The young guys in the corner, the guy beats him in the net. He’ll learn. He had him covered for a little bit, but then he he let it go. And that’s stuff that we’ll learn. Your penalty kill was such a strength for the first few games of the season. What has changed in the last couple games here? Well, the the second one tonight, we got we gave him the top. So, one four was supposed to come off, cut the top off. They got the top. They took a wrist, hit their guy in the chest, and he popped it back door. I mean, the next one, we had another block shot and the uh you know, there’s a there’s a I mean, there there’s nothing to do with that structure on those except our forge should have cut the top off. But, I mean, we have a good penalty kill. We’re not going to change how we kill because of two bounces. That’s for sure. And what about Lucas Raquel? Um, obviously short short span from the trade to getting him into the lineup. What did you what were your first impressions? Oh, he played great. I mean, the guy was in, you know, tough travel. I think he slept at the airport and got two hours sleep and he had a hell of a game. I for coming into a new environment. Um, you know, it’s a lot of lot of lot of heat out there and he handled it well. Ilas Person has a three-point night. Uh, what did you see from him that was maybe an improvement from previous games or has this kind of been coming for him? Did you say Pety? Yes, Petey. He played a great hockey game. He’s was matched up against the top of the line and um he was feeling it. I thought he did a lot of great things. He had a big head. He was physical. He was he was everywhere all over the ice and uh I liked his game. Uh, Adam, you mentioned a couple of bad bounces on your PK tonight, but it has been about six games now that you guys have been giving up goals. You’ve had a lot of personnel turnover and you’re trying different guys. Do you think this is just indicative of that early in the season, a lot of new people on the on the PK? Yeah, you need reps by guys that are on there. Like you just said, it’s a great question and it’s true. Like some guys are just have to be put in situations till they get the reps and they’ll get it. You have to you can draw it up on the board, but you got to get out and play and get the feel for it. And yeah, that probably is part of it right now is you got some guys that aren’t normally in those situations for that amount of time, you know. So, but uh that’s the way it is. The second half of that is tomorrow’s going to be seven and 11. The teams that are rolling along, they probably love that. The teams that want to fix some stuff, you have no practice time, you know? How how tough is it on the fly like this to kind of We’re we’ve known the schedule since the summer. So, we’re we’re we’re not even discussing the schedule. We’re just working every day how we have to work and um you know, we we got slammed with some injuries during a tough schedule and that’s no excuse. We’re going to keep on going and we were this close again. We controlled completely controlled the game. Um, and you know, a couple couple little things and they’re they’re a good hockey team and um, they they were they were very frustrated with with with their game and they get a they get a first bounce, the first PK and hey, here we are in a and won at the end and we miss even at the end there. We could have tied it at six on five. I think best just I think it bounced on a little bit, but you know, we’re we’re right there. We got to find our positives out of that and and keep keep uh keep us keep it going. We got, like I said, 7-Eleven. We got another one tomorrow. So,

Yeah, it's fine, it's understandable we lost to the habs. I mean they are so good – yet the youngest team in the NHL by far.
jt is coming
Props to Reichel, I thought he adjusted really well all things considered. Excited to see more from him.
Im tired guys
Shoulda started demmer
Lanks looking like Silovs from last season in the NHL…
Petey has matured, and he's starting to go into boss mode~
Loving this guy more and more, and his play was positively ethereal today.
Also, I love Foote!
The hardest thing for a coach to do is to find the positive and prop players up, and he has done that night on night.
And yeah, its a loss, but with 9 injuries:
1. Hoglander
2. Blueger
3. Woo
4. Chytil
5. Mueller
6. Lekkerimaki
7. Tolopilo
8. Brisebois
9. Forebert
No team this year in the NHL is facing this much adversity, and yet, we are making it close.
Go Canucks; and prayers for Chytil.
zacha incoming
Lankannen sucks right now
Lanks looked good! Penalties piled up on us
Lank with the clutch choke to ruin peteys best game in a long time
Did Sasson get injured? He had like 6 mins of ice time.
Wish we had Silovs still for the backup .
You got Demidov'd don't feel bad. It's the first of many, for many teams
The schedule has been ruthless. Good game tho. Couple bounces couple penalties. That’s the game. Skooo
Can block a puck but can’t win a face off. It’s pretty embarrassing that a young buck like ratÿ has to come in on the last fave off and kick you out. Like not a single faceoff won by Petey. And we need a second line center? I think we need all new centermen it’s just piss poor
Lankinen was average, best game yet from EP this season, Reichel was ok. My biggest beef was not getting EP out there on their(Mntl) first PP leading 2-0 but instead going with the rotation and saving him to PP and 5v5. In those situations he needs to play PK since he is one of their best PK forwards. Also Garland/De Brusk played a good game. Boeser/Kane wasnt very good
Allvin is clueless
Y'all suck. I've witnessed 3 cup finals (0 cups), 2 presidents trophies, and 2 riots, this is the most pathetic team to date. Absolute embarrassment to the city of Vancouver.
Great game Vancouver yall gave us our moneyworth !!
not pleased with kane's performance so far
Kane is pretty useless offensively. He's good at causing havoc like a 4th liner…
