Minnesota Vikings News Dump (10.26.2025) | IR Issues, Lamar Screws Vikes, Trade Greenard?????
What’s going on, Jerome? Beautiful Sunday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, of course, the Vikings playing Thursday Night Football. Got the mini bike going on right meow. And just got a full Sunday of hate watching. It’s going to be good. And it has not been a very good couple of days for me and football teams. Uh Vikings got boat race on Thursday night. Liverpool lost their fourth straight freaking Premier League game. How? How? And also, I guess I I guess sort of quasi proximity-wise, I’m a Gophers fan and they just got destroyed by Iowa. They lost a pig, man. No bueno, right? Uh but for the Vikings the rest of the way, I I know that three and four wanting some more is not looking great, but it is what it is, right? And the Vikings have weathered adversity and injuries, and hopefully JJ McCarthy will be coming back. And also, it it’s not like this is an untalented team, right? They’re they’re just playing far below their potential right now. They’re not playing cohesive football. So, this isn’t a talent issue, per se. It’s a organization, it’s a motivation, it’s a execution issue. And JJ McCarthy returning, will that be the beall endall? I don’t know. Remains to be seen. You know, uh quarterback play being above the rim or at least freaking average can certainly help out a team. But hopefully numero nine number nine gets things done right. Also getting thing done uh getting things done is Jaylen Redmond, the pride of Oklahoma Boomer as well as uh UFFL, USFL, what whatever veteran. He’s really come in and he’s quietly been the most impressive defensive lineman which is kind of saying a lot since had high hopes for Joe Javon Hargrave who’s been eyeed and Jonathan Allen who’s been subpar hopefully turning things around. But Redmond this year, three sacks, 21 pressures, 16.9% pressure rate, which is good. Uh about 10% is really good for a defensive material. He was first in the league amongst DI’s 20 tackles, five tackles for loss, two passes broken up. Uh one uh deflected pass led to the Mattel interception against the Chargers. Had a solid momentum as well as his his 76 point 79.6 PFF pass rush grade is 10th in the league. Uh and also he is exclusive right free agents next year. So, he will be back, but he’s definitely playing himself into some dough. You you could say right now, uh, that Granard and Redmond are the two best defensive players for the Vikings right now. All right. And, you know, with the trade deadline coming up, ideally, the Vikings won’t be turned into uh into sellers at the deadline. Also, you’re not getting rid of Redmond, right? Because he’s great against the run. He’s great and disruptive against the pass. Can get his own rush 100%. he is that guy that that you do need, right? Also, speak of the trade deadline. So, don’t want to say that there’s speculation, but there’s a lot of logic that comes to the Vikings potentially trading Jonathan Grard. Now, I am not for it at all. I think that Grard has been the Vikings best defensive player. I know, oh, he’s only got two sacks. Pressure pressure-wise, he’s got 30 leading the team and everything should be good to go in that regard. And Gernard’s out there fighting the good fight. He’s also got nine tackles for loss this season. Uh and just been he’s sort of been tilting at windmills, you know. Uh but Gernard this year, 30 pressures, two sacks, 17% pressure rate, which isn’t pretty damn good on the edge. About 14% is good for an edge rusher. Uh 24 tackles, nine tackles for loss, like we said. Two passes broken up, force fumble, 77.9 PF grade, which is also good. Uh and his contract is interesting. So, he’s averaging 19 million per year and a team that traded for Grard would inherit about 9 million in cap space for this season. Uh, his next two years, there’s no guaranteed money. So, it would be a spot where Grard is due a new contract. Are the Vikings looking to pay for it? They should be, right? And you look at the the premium edge rushers in this league making 3540 million per year. Grard’s making 19 is definitely a steal of a deal. That’s why I feel like the Vikings could be fielding tra or not feel could be fielding. Uh they’re definitely going to be contacted by by teams about Grunard where he’s a premium edge rusher just hitting his prime on on a sweetheart deal this year. Yes, you do have to pay him down the line, but if you focus on this year, all right, but honestly, no one’s off limits except I say Justin Jefferson. But on a minimum two firsts, then want Gernard cuz all those other factors in number one, you don’t want to get rid of him. Number two, in his prime. Number three, great price. Number four, yes, you’re going to have to pay him. That’s fine. But no, if you’re going to move Grard, I say, say the Vikings, impossible. But say the Vikings do lose to Detroit. They’re three and five, lost three in a row. Then the following Tuesday on the 4th is the NFL trade deadline. The phones are going to be lit up. looking for Gennard, but no, don’t do it unless someone also so some people have been wondering why, you know, JJ McCarthy, why Andrew Van Ginkle haven’t been placed on injury reserve. So, the NFL and their new IR designate for return rules. It’s kind of tough, right? Because the Vikings have had so many injuries and they’ve had a bunch of players already to return from IR. So the rules right now, a regular season limit. Each team can bring back a maximum of eight players from IR during the regular season. If they make the playoffs, you can bring back two more. So 10 total. The Vikings are already brought back, Ham, Cashman, and Jones. That’s four. Likely to bring back Kelly and Tai Chandler soon. So at six, right? And you can’t tell the future. You don’t know what’s going to be going on down the line, but you don’t want to burn up your eight spots because it really limits your your flexibility on what what’s happening. Also, it could be read as being uh a little bit rosier outlook on injuries, whether it’s McCarthy or AVG or Brian O’Neal, etc. But that’s one of the reasons why the Vikings have have been pretty stingy when it comes to, you know, IR designate for return because they’re already up against it. Also up against it. So, Kelshi. Yeah. Uh, so it puts the Vikings chances to make the playoffs at 4%. So, you’re telling me there’s a chance one time in 25? Uh because the NFC standings right now, it’s weird that the NFC standings start at number two. Yeah. But the Vikings right now in that log jam of three- win teams with the Cowboys, Falcons, uh the commies, etc. Uh and you know, allegedly their schedule is going to be tough coming up. So, I’m sure that that factors in. But also, you know, the Vikings do have five division games left. They’re already 1 and0. Three of the division games are at home. And all they need is just a little spark, a little momentum. And as we said, this isn’t an untalented football team. They just haven’t been playing up there to their potential. And JJ McCarthy, the demon, hopefully is coming back very soon, and hopefully they’ll be good to go. Hate watching guide. So, the Bears play the Ravens at noon, which we’ll freaking get to. Uh, and then DPers uh against uh the Steelers on the road uh in Pittsburgh, Three Rivers, the Aon Rogers Bowl. So, I’ve never rooted for Aaron Rogers in my life, but I’m rooting for the Steelers. So, go Steelers. Go Ravens. You know, Bears on the road. They’ve already won four in a row. Uh, they got their chest puffed out. Chicago. And here’s what’s sort of messed up about things. Sher, more quarterback news. Raymond’s quarterback Lamar Jackson will miss his third straight game Sunday due to a hamstring injury. And Ravens quarterback Snoop uh Snoop Huntley blah blah blah blah blah. Jackson expected to return from San Shank Thursday night against Miami versus the Dolphins. Now also the Vikings do play Lamar week 10. So off of the mini buy because the Ravens play on Thursday. Uh the Vikings will get a pissed-off Lamar Jackson, fully healthy Lamar Jackson week 10. So great. So the Bears just tiptoeing through the tulips yet again. Also, Lamar was listed as a full participant on Friday. The Ravens had to go back and change that. So they’re probably going to lose a draft pick with all these injury report shenanigans. So yeah, again, the the Bears just like the Bears face Tyler Huntley, the Vikings two weeks later get a fully healthy Lamar Jackson. That’s just how things go sometimes. It’s frustrating. Also, uh so good for him. She sources Falcons quarterback Kurt Cousins is highly likely to start Sunday’s game versus the Dolphins as Michael Penn Jr. recovers from a bone bruise in his knee. So Pennock’s bone soft. I don’t know. PEX is limited practice all week. Blah blah blah. So, you know, good for Kurt, you know, playing things out with the Falcons as a backup. Now, here here’s what will be ground zero the worst thing for the Vikings. So, Darnold’s looking great. Daniel Jones looking great. A A-Ron Rogers is whatever. What if Kurt Cousins looks good against the very bad Dolphins team, right? Just lights him up, right? And meanwhile, Carson Wentz is getting beaten beaten down. JJ McCarthy’s miss time. Then all of a sudden you’re like, “Wow, wow, wow, wow.” Actually, I think it speaks to, you know, Kurt does good. Uh, Kurt does good. Darnold and Jones do good. It just speaks to Kevin Oconor’s quarterback prowess, man. That’s right. Uh, lastly, so I feel like sometimes the these lists are just put out for engagement rage bait, which is fine. Uh, FanDuel, top 10 players of all time for the Vikings. Dante’s a one which I don’t know Ellen Page two Chuck Foreman three Randy Moss four Tark five Adrien Eller McDaniel Curts Cousins at nine Jared Allen so obviously this is like rage bait cuz I love Dante Co Pepper 2004 is probably the best season for a Vikings quarterback ever but he’s not top like he’s not one like he might be top 10 he’s not one for me Moss Paige Tarkington Washington put up there too. Jim Marshall, how’s he not on this list? Kurt Cousins should not be on on here. Adrian’s up there, too. But I don’t know. I don’t know, man. Like, again, this I This is us falling for the trap because we’re doing exactly what they wanted to do because we’re talking about we engage with the post, but FanDuel, I think they know what they’re doing. So, anyways, that’s it. But enjoy the hate watch today. Please get things together. That’s all I I I don’t ask for much. I’m a simple kind of man. I just hope my football team doesn’t kick me in the nuts. That’s all. I need my nuts. Anyways, uh that’s it. You guys are the best you to do. Goal production value.

Lamar should play for a different purple team
Can okudah switch to safety like Bynum?? 6ft1 205 and He can blitz and tackle but he hasn’t been great at corner recently. ; Id also like to see Ivan pace get more reps with stunts inside or setting edge on tight ends /covering flats n screens
pls dont trade greenard
Let's not dismiss that in the past 3 games, the refs missed a call back for Will the Thrills rekick from hitting the camera wire, and the refs also calling back 3 of our touchdowns for rinky dink reasons.. 🤔🤷
Miss having a QB like Culpepper.. and a RB like AP.. 😩
I’m throwing money on that 4%
Every other year KOC has wins in the teens, I guess this is the down year and then 15 regular season wins next year.
I’d love to see this team go all-in at the trade deadline. The season is still very much salvageable! The focus should be on building a tough, dominant defense. Like build a real bully on that side of the ball. I’d like to see additions at center, a standout defensive tackle, a big cornerback, possibly a safety, and a dynamic running back! Will and deal Kwesi! The NBA does this every year.
Can we just run the ball in short yardage
We are sellers! We need to get rid of the injury-prone mercenaries, Addison, and the bad manager! You can only play like the Patriots or Chiefs with young, hungry players and be successful for a long time! Spielman drafts twelve players and five make it to the team – Kwesi drafted ten in two years and no player made it to the team… the strongest TE class comes and trades for Hockenson instead… the strongest RB class comes and instead commits to A. Jones… oh yeah… Drake Maye looks pretty good behind Bradburry… WTF!
Trade KOC.
KOC needs to GO
Captain Dork Kirk Cousins being top 50 is beyond laughable
We're not going to trade. Gernard, there is logic behind trading every player. There's no logic in trading. One of your best players when you're still a contending team. I am a Minnesota Vikings fan first but my second favorite team is the Jets. Their team has logic and trading every player not when you're 3-4 even if we're 3-6 we got to stop treating everything like the sky is falling. It's not. We're three and four. We've been here before. Hey that rhymed and besides we all wanted this to be a super bowl year but this year was supposed to be about McCarthy developing. You keep the team around him for next year
Kwesi was not yet ready for the GM position and responsibilities, no more drafts for him, let’s move on. Sellers for the right packages.
How in the hell can a center get soo many concussion in such close proximity when the defense is inches away when the ball is hiked? SMH!
Wentz to start @ DET please 🥺
2 1st for Greenard is nuts. Thus is why fans are fans and not Gms. He's gone for a 2nd
The one positive thing about today. I can watch some damn football games in peace.
