Full Highlights | Sabres vs. Maple Leafs – Oct 25, 2025 (w/Joe Bowen)
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Scotia Bank Arena as the Toronto Maple Leafs finish off a home and home series with the Buffalo Sabres after losing last night in a game that they got back into but not all the way back. Whether that is more telling as to the games leading up to that one. Puck is dropped. There was an improvement. Apologies. Yep. And we’re underway. Brought to the line. N takes his man down, but the puck comes to center. Quickly back in for Tavvarus. Tavvarus fakes the shot, then let it go. A big rebound in front and a penalty coming here as Ny was driving the net and is dragged to the ice and the faceoff one and Riley drops it off into the corner for Matthew. Centering pass. Big pad save made by Lucinan. Still with it down low it goes for McMahon. McMahon into the slot area. One-time on the far side just trickled past the near post as Lucan and got most of it. McMahon with it on the far wall. Back to the blue line DD. It’ll come to Benois. His shot deflected just wide of the far post by Austin Matthews. Centering pass is intercepted. And now a slamming hit there by Benois around the boards far side to the blue line. Kept alive by the Maple Leafs in front of the net. NY dropping trying to get a shot away. a rebound in front that was blocked. My goodness, the Leafs have had a couple of really good scoring chances here. So, the Leafs have activated uh Nick Robertson. Here’s Thompson with a shot that deflects up into the screen, but the arm of the official is up and a penalty is coming here to Jake McCabe, I believe. Maybe a cross check. Carlo, it comes back to the point. Kept alive by the Savers into the slot. a shot and Primo got low to make a save on that. I think that’s really the first shot that has been on goal out here. The Sabres coming up from a sharp angle and Primo had to hug that far goal post. It’s wedged up against the boards and then fed around the wall. It’ll come to the near point, but an arm is up and another crosschecking call is coming and a Leaf defenseman is headed to the penalty box once more. Here’s the Sabres on the power play again to the pointed drive. Good glove save made by Primo off Dalin from the point. Some of the four goals I’m sure he would like to have another shot at. Here’s Dalin now with the puck get down into the left wing corner centered in front and a pass there blocked. Another shot is kicked away by Primo. Well, the Leafs had some moments pushing back and then penalty trouble. Back of the net on the near side for Jason Zucker. Zucker to the near point. Ben fencing in. Wraparound attempt jammed at. Down is Primo. Where’s the puck? And I’ll tell you what, the Argo’s defensive stand on the goal line. Couldn’t have been much better than that. Boy, Tes Thompson though went roaring into the pile late. But the Sabres have outshot the Leafs nine to four and carrying over the line on the right wing side. Tuck missed the net by 30 ft. Everybody’s got pizza up here now. Goodness. Leafs get it back to the point. Riley a deflection off the goal post. Former Leaf gets it up on the wing for Benson. And out comes Thompson to center. A right wing feed for Yuri Kulich. And a long pass on the wing scores. Thompson I believe. But Doy couldn’t identify the man to go to and ended up not taking anyone and Tag Thompson has opened the scoring for Buffalo and makes a pass up on the right side. Tuck getting it into the pass into the slot. A shot and that carums off the goal post and now we’ve got a fight going. Whoa, what a right hand by McCabe. He flattens Tuck who took exception to a hit on Bow and Byum and Jake McKay flattens him with a right hand. Wow. Tuck got spun around and basically because of his positioning it was almost a sucker punch. With all the players number 22 has five minutes for fight eight. Uh, Buffalo number 89 has two minutes for instigating, five minutes for fighting, and a misconduct. Power play for two minutes. I see that coming. Riley stretching it out to Matthews on the right wing side. A pass in front of the net. Banged out. Another pass and banks into the corner. Kept alive by the Leafs. Here’s Riley in along the far half wall. Bobby McMahon coming off the wing and his shot was blocked on a good play made by Connor Timonss who is limping as he heads to the bench. But the Savers get back in with a shot in on goal and Primo had to make a save there and they’ll get it ahead to Jack Quinn who’s going to launch it high and then take a hit from Oliver Ecman Larson. Slides it into the corner back of the net for Matthews. Matthews trying to work free from the check. Still has it and then lost it there to Bow and Byum. You got it back again. They score. [Music] A quick turnover and it is Robertson getting his first goal of the season. But some diligent work by Austin Matthews back of the net. [Music] Matthews and Cowan both go playing it into neutral ice. Leafs are back there to get it ahead to John Tavvaris. 498 career goals for Tavvaris as he works in over the line into the slot. Got a shot. They score. Melli off to the right wing side and John Tavarus the shot in redirection into the net for a two-1 lead. [Music] same end of the ice as his first goal is the lead for Machelli and maybe just slightly more difficult. The first one was a great setup from Willie Knander. This one is a great setup from John Tavvaris. Puck against the boards on the near corner now to the front of the net for Thompson. Big P. The rebound is blocked in front. Matthews saves a goal. Play a goal. He was in behind Primo and was able to block a shot as it comes in front of the net again. Even the score in the physical department here on this shift. Puck against the boards in the near side and a penalty coming for a cross check in front of the net as Tavaris got flattened. Matthews on the near half boards in front of the net. Tamaris snapped it over top of the goal. Oel has difficult. He’s on the near boards in the turnover. Here’s the Sabres trying to come to the front. Another shot scores. Oh wow. A horrific giveaway by Oliver Ecman Larson. Leafs are going to look at this though, Joe. Primo got bumped by the saber going to the net. Discussion by the Allight officials. There was goender interference. We had no Robertson starts back to Matthews on the wing to Robertson on the right wing side with a shot. Oh, and Matthews tried to redirect that but it went past him and just wide of the net. dies with a feed into the slot area. Machelli got the shot away and a good save by Ukabakalinan. Not get it in any deeper. Now here are the Leafs bringing it back the other way. Loren trying to drive in. Got a shot away. Oh, and a good save made by Lucinan. But an excellent play made there by the Leaf winger over on the near side for Byron. He returns it to his defense partner. Gets it returned again. And now a shot in traffic. Scores. Bowen Byum from the left point through a screen has tied the game at twos. Cycled the puck in along. They do back to the pointed drive. Oh wow, that blocked in front of the net by Yarn Crook and he is slow to get up and it is played by Tavvaris out at center ice. Now an interference call is coming and he had the giveaway last night on the short-handed goal late. Lee turned the puck over in the neutral zone and now a twoon-one break going the other way. Matthews in with a pass into the gold crease and it rolled to the near side. Back to Thompson. One-time coming and he whistled it high and wide and it explodes off the glass. Doing a nice job and it comes back to the blue line. Timonss keeping it in and the pass on the left wing side. Penalty coming to Toronto. Rasmus Dene. Dene in the slot off onto the left wing side. The Leafs have looked like they’ve had two or three chances to get the puck out but fails. Now a centering pass, stop scores. Loose puck in front of the net and Tag Thompson snaps it home. And the Sabres for the second time in the game have a one-goal lead. Drops it back for McCabe. Pass back on the far wing. Brought in over the line trying to drive the net as Joshua with a shot. He scores. Dakota Joshua had eyes and it’s redirected and into the net was wide in front. No, I don’t think he celebrates. It’ll be Joshua getting the goal to tie the game at three. And Bowen Byum now gives it to Timmons again who finally gets it up on the left wing and the Sabres gain the zone in on the left wing with a shot off his body in front of the net. Tavvaris Tavvaris had it picked away. Sabres breaking back on the right wing side going hard to the net as Thompson a shot. It comes in front of the goal. Oh, and mishandling it there. There was Owen Power. Liz trying to get it ahead. Tamarz has a breakaway. He’s in a goal. scores. Holy buck. Johnny Toronto wins the game in overtime. 499 career goals. Sabres look like they’ve got three opportunities showed for easy goals. One pass is blocked. Another is a missed pass and John Tvarus is able to get in behind the Buffalo defense. Races down shading to the left wing side and rips this short side blocker side under the crossbar to give the Leafs a much needed two points against Buffalo. Go Blue Jays as uh the next bit of business is just down the

I was at the game, hotrible play on the part of both teams, waste of money and time.
Domi has been a massive defensive liability this year……brutal
Everybody's got pizza up here now. Goodness!
Once again JT comes up big in overtime. It's only against Buffalo, but a win is still a win and we'll take it. Matthews played a good game defensively, but he's been a bit slow out of the gate on the offensive side. The backup goaltending is a bit of a concern, though Primeau didn't get any defensive help on at least one of them.
As for the game misconduct for Tuch, I thought that was ridiculous. He was just defending his teammate, and still got his butt kicked by McCabe. And then he gets a misconduct. The league has sure changed, and not all for the better. I'd like to see the Leafs doing what Tuch did in standing up for his teammate, especially when the opposing team touches our goalie.
superb game,Tavares is fucking lovely match point❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥Thank you guys for full satisfaction🔥Go Leafs Go
They need to put Joe on tv, especially considering it's his last season.. dump Chris Cuntberg and Hag Simpson
Sabres looks way better now anyway.
This team look so weak without Nylander
Tuch forgot to check the game notes
Someday tell this guy it's not 'TAG' Thompson lol
Spin into the punch is the play of the night
Fighting in sports…..disgusting
Has JohhnyT got faster???
Johhny Torontoooooooooooh skated FLAT OUT from PILL to POST to thwart a 2-on-1 against – then did a U-wee – and skated FLAT-OUT from PILLAR to POST to POT ONE
Joe Bowen is GOLD
Thanks JellyHD .. always nice to be able to see the Leafs against these juggernaut teams like Buffalo or Detroit….If it wasn't for your great work I wouldn't even bother to watch the Laffs. Over 120+ TSN and SN channels and I could not find this game .. CFL & college football, NBA and WNBA (yea like wtf watches that), even golf and teams practicing for the Olympics ..but no interest in covering the Leafs game… Remembering way back to last year, these games where more points to help the Leafs towards playoff standing….Today they are meaningless games for this lower mid-card team. But this win did help keep them in 22 place in the league so that is something…..
Dam Tuch got slouched and hit with instigating and misconduct. Hatty. McCabe threw a great hit i really don't agree with smoking a guy with his back turned its not a street fight but ultimately a fight and you do what's necessary..
John T.. still producing, still battling, still the epitome of class and leadership, will go down as one of the great leaf Captains in history, and who SHOULD still be and retire as the leaf Captain. Equally so will the decision to strip this warrior of the C and give it to a soft, sucky baby uninspired milk toast entitled player like Mathews be judged as one of the dumbest, ill considered decisions in leaf history. Hopefully the leafs realize and admit this blunder, trade Mathews at the deadline this year…. and start a rebuild with the stud D and young gun acquisition they can get for him and his $13 million terrible investment.
Primo did well, maybe except the last goal.
Oh wokada, you changed the lyrics. Pittyful.
Cowan Matthews Robertson line was cool to see
This is looking like a long and painful season. This team is terrible. I wouldn't pay money to see that.
So where is Mathews. He cant score without Marner. You the Media and the Fans got rid of the best player on the Team.
Wwwww
