Bryce Harper RESPONDS PUBLICLY To Phillies President?! | @SportsRadio94WIP

Where we have to begin is with the fighting fills. Literally the fighting Phils because there is an internal problem happening right now inside the organization. And the truth is Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. He had no business publicly addressing Dave Dumbrossski and the fans. And that’s what he elected to do with John Haymon on Friday night and with Matt Gelp of The Athletic earlier today. Bryce was wrong and he did more damage. And I’m going to lay out the timeline for you to set the stage, but I want you to answer this question for me as we talk about it at 2155929494. Are you disappointed that Bryce Harper went public? Because I’m extremely disappointed. He let me down this weekend. So, let’s work through this timeline together. Where things all started was with Dave Dumbrossski when the season ended. He had this to say about Bryce. In Bryce’s case, of course, he’s still a quality player. He’s still a all-star caliber player. U he didn’t have an elite season like he has had in the past and I guess we only find out if he becomes the elite or he continues to be good. I mean there it’s not like he’s like if you say to me uh I look around the league I was trying to think Freddy Freeman is a really good player, right? He still is a good player. Is he elite like he was before? Probably not to the same extent. And so that’s nothing nec you know Freddy’s a tremendous player and that’s to me as Bryce. Can he rise to the next level again? I I don’t really know that answer. I mean and really he’s he’s the one that will dictate that more than anything else. I is what it comes down to. So um I don’t think he’s content with the year that he had. And again, it wasn’t a bad year, but when I think of Bryce Harper, you’re thinking elite, right? You’re thinking one of the top 10 players in baseball, and I don’t think it fit into that category. But again, very good player. I I have no idea when you see somebody I have seen guys at his age, again, he’s not old, that um level off or I’ve seen guys rise again. So Dave didn’t say anything wrong from a factual standpoint. I didn’t think Bryce Harper had his most amazing season. And I’m sure a lot of you agree with me. And I wonder at his age if he still has the elite play in his body or not. So from a reasonable objective view, his comments and thoughts were fair, but he was wrong to criticize the superstar of the franchise in a public light like that. You just don’t do it. It’s completely off base. He’s right with what he’s saying. He’s wrong to use that platform to say it. So, just so you understand where I stand with the day front. He started this fire. But that doesn’t mean Bryce is correct with the way he handled it either. But that’s where it began. Then Dave Dumbrossski did damage control on the Foul Territory podcast. This was Dave. Your comments about Bryce, do you feel like they were misconstrued? because we talked about it on here and I was kind of like I don’t know maybe it’s a little motivation which do you feel like your comments about him you know not being elite right now and or if he’ll ever get back to being elite because you are honest and we appreciate honesty in baseball that is like the greatest trait besides hitting homers. Well and it’s of course got a life of its own. I said so many things in a one-hour press conference and this is the one thing that gets out there. First of all, I mean to me Bryce Harper is one of the best players in the game of baseball and when I say he didn’t have they asked me what type of year did you think he had and I said he had a very good year. I don’t think he had an elite year. And when I say that, when I think of Bryce Harper, that’s a compliment because the reality is there are, I don’t know, eight, 10 players in the game of baseball every year, when they’re not, let’s say, in the MVP consideration for whatever reason. Sometimes it can be an injury factor. Sometimes they just have a bad year, but whatever. It’s it’s not an elite year for them. So, the reality is is that he’s a great player. He’s a future Hall of Famer. This thing’s got a life of its own. Now, I’ve been reading that, oh, the Phillies may trade Bryce Harper. That couldn’t be further from the truth. We love him. I think he’s a great player. He’s a very important part of our team. So, he did damage control there to try and put water on the fire, if you will. I’m just pissed off that we’re even having this discussion because I want to focus on how to change this roster and change this core to win a championship. And I want the focus to be on the Phillies becoming a juggernaut and competing in the World Series. But instead, I have a president of baseball ops and a superstar of the team bashing heads and using the public to kind of do this in a way that’s just disgraceful. So, I’m sorry. It’s it’s just difficult to get through this, but this is where we are. And I think Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. So, now let’s get to what Bryce said. And unfortunately, it’s not audiobase. It’s in written form. But John Haymon on Friday said people close to Bryce Harper said he was pissed off with the comments made. Then with Matt Gelb, he’s disappointed that the contributions he has given are being questioned. Now, what does that mean? Does that mean you’re getting angry that the fans look at the results and then wonder if we could get the job done? Cuz if that’s the case, that’s extremely misguided from Bryce or is he upset because he feels the franchise and John Middleton and Dave Dumbrossski are looking at his contributions and questioning him. But either way, I don’t understand how going out and voicing this frustration in the way that you are is beneficial to anything. He’s uncomfortable with trade talks. How do you think Jaylen Herz feels? How do you think Joel Embiid feels? How do you think these guys feel when every day they get criticized based off of the performance on the field? It’s part of the business. It’s the nature of the beast. You chose Philadelphia. This comes with it. There’s the good. There’s the uncomfortable. If you can’t handle the uncomfortable, good luck. He said he gives all to this city. Yeah, you’re supposed to. But you can’t cry when things go wrong and get mad when you say you give all to this city. It’s almost like 50% of his aggravation is going towards Dave and the other 50% is going towards us. And that’s crazy to me. I know you give your heart to the game and to the uniform and to the city. I don’t question your want to, but it’s fair to question if we’re going to get a damn championship or not. And we had our chance when we were very close, but we’re going in the wrong direction year after year. So, it’s fair and objective to raise questions about this current group, and you have to accept it. Jaylen’s been to two Super Bowls and won one and has bowled out in both of them. Every week this dude gets crushed for every throw he makes. Welcome to Philadelphia, Bryce. I mean, it’s unreal. Imagine this. Imagine, just to put it in perspective on what Bryce Harper is doing now after Dave Dumbrossski said what he said. Imagine your manager at work criticizes your performance in front of the whole office and it hurts. It’s painful. You don’t like it. It’s unfair. So, you send a companywide email CCing everybody, defending yourself, and taking shots at the boss. You’re both wrong. And now you’re adding more drama. But you’re both wrong. You shouldn’t handle it that way. You’re you’re CCing the entire company to voice out your frustration. That’s what Bryce just did. That’s crazy. This is absurd. So when you say the fight in Phils, I mean it’s for real now. It is literal. 2155929494. Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. Are you disappointed that Bryce went public? I am. And the more and more I talk through this, I’m even more pissed than I thought I was. I gotta be honest with you. I turned this mic on, I knew where I stood, and then I started to kind of rip through exactly what he’s doing. My blood’s boiling. And I think Dave sucked with the way he handled everything. That is abysmal leadership from the top. He was wrong, too. But I expected more from Brian. I thought Dave was Dave. Okay, whatever, Dave. I I don’t I don’t know if you really care about us. You wanted to be in Nashville. You kind of took this job because you knew Nashville wasn’t getting pushed fast, you know, in a fast way. So, this was sort of your side gig to get you to Nashville. And he’s really an outsider just holding the fork down. But Bryce came here going, “This is part of my journey. And I can’t wait to pour my heart out here and be here.” So Dave doing what Dave did, I mean it sucked and I hated it, but I don’t have an emotional tie to Dave Dumbrosski. I think he’s overrated and he hasn’t done a great job. Bryce, really? Come on, man. Really? How much of this is Scott Boris? How much of this is a leverage play to try and win people on his side? to try and paint the franchise a certain way, whatever they’re trying to manipulate so he can get his extension, which he shouldn’t be fighting for. That’s ridiculous if Bryce Harper thinks he’s going to get an extension at this particular time of his career. and to make this chaos be the chaos that it is because you want more years added now with the current state of the franchise. That’s disrespectful to us, the city, the hardpaying customer. Unreal. I mean, unreal. Okay, here’s another example for you. Imagine you’re in a play. There is a director of the play. You’re the lead role. You’re on tour. So, you’re going to all these destinations to be the lead person in the play. The director gets interviewed three shows in and he gives his opinion about how, you know, listen, the lead was okay. I thought maybe he’d be a little bit better. he or she would be a little bit better, but it was okay. And the next show on stage, you stop and derail everything and you point at the director who’s watching in his box and you start yelling at him about the critique in the middle of the damn show. That was Bryce Harper. He was wrong. Dave was wrong. Bryce just made it even worse. Bryce was wrong. And I And I think Bryce is really trying to push for this contract. And this is where it all starts. This is where it all starts. And he just has no business taking this route. It’s unreal. I mean, let me tell you something. There’s a fracture. This is going to get ugly. This is just the beginning. Buckle up. 2155929494. Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. Are you disappointed that Bryce went public? Because I am. Let’s go to the phones. Let’s start things off with Jim in Germantown. What’s up, Jim? How you doing? Good. How are you, Jim? Uh, I’m cracking up because I I did a Bryce Harper like hash Bryce Harper. I I can relate to what he did. Okay. I was uh just started a new job, maybe not even a year there, and I brown bagged it and next thing you know, it’s lunchtime and I go into the fridge, company fridge, and my lunch isn’t there. Uh oh. I’m like, “Oh my god, no way.” I I thought I brought it and I figured, yeah, I did bring it. And I’m like, “Somebody ate my lunch.” So, I went right to my computer, sent a companywide email, everybody, and to find out who ate my lunch, it was the founder, CEO, and president of the company. No way. Now, I don’t know how this actually compares, but this is a wild story. It’s a true story. No, I’m not saying it’s not true. I just don’t know how that relates to Bryce Harper getting called out by the president of baseball ops. But, it’s a very interesting story. And 23 years later, I’m still at the same company. Well, Jim, I just wanted to share that. Congrat Congratulations, Jim. I appreciate the phone call. Wow. There was zero correlation. Maybe that’s on me. No, no. I mean, listen. Wow. He said companywide email can relate to Bryce. This guy Lewis, you’re doing a lot of things. All right, I respect your work ethic. I see you back there. You’re working your ass off. I’ll put the blame on you. Okay, now that’s leadership. Not to pat myself on the back, but that’s what Dave Deowski is missing. All right, that’s what Bryce Harper is missing. Bob and Broom, you’re on WIP. What’s up, Bob? What’s up, bros? What’s up, man? I’m not going to get into it, but is your diet still good? Diet’s fantastic. I appreciate you checking in every time. Thank you, Bob. I’m getting better. I lost another 12. Good. Good. I’m proud of you. Keep it up. All right. So, listen. I agree with Harper. If I I’m put in a situation, I work for a major company and if my top guys coming out and questioning my ability and letting every everybody in the company know that you’re questioning my ability, I’m coming out fighting. Could I ask you this? Can I ask you this, Bob? Yeah. Do you have to do it this way or because I don’t have an issue with Bryce taking a stand? I don’t have an issue with Bryce being upset. Actually, I think he should be upset with what Dave Deouski did, but I don’t like the route he’s going. I think you can do what you’re trying to do with these pieces that are getting leaked publicly. You can do that behind the scenes to get your point across to your teammates, to the ownership group, to Dave Dumbassi. I just I didn’t like this method. I’m okay with being mad. I’m not okay with using these platforms to show your frustration because it only makes things worse. And I got you, bros. But Drowski started this. So if you get my Italian temper up, I’m coming out boxing. You know, it’s you did this publicly. Drosski started this this and he tried to retract. You’re right. He did. He No, look, Bob, you’re absolutely correct and I appreciate the phone call. You’re right to say Dave started it, but it goes back to what we learned when we were 5 years old. When you’re in elementary school, just cuz little Jimmy did something that was stupid, little Billy doesn’t have to do something stupid, too. It’s just what it is. And with all due respect, they’re not five in elementary school. These are grown men making millions of Bryce Harper has been in the spotlight since he was 12. Okay, there are ways to do this. And the fact that Bryce Harper pulled this card, it’s disappointing because I hold him to a high standard. This is a guy that was almost uh like an a a highprofile athlete since he came out the womb essentially. This is wrong. And unfortunately, when someone does something like this to you, if you’re Bryce Harper, you have to be the bigger man and you must put on a different face and you must attack a different way. You just have to. It sucks. You got to swallow some pride. But come on, man. Now, the one part of this that I actually feel is a little disturbing from the Middleton front is in the piece to Matt Gilb, Bryce said he hasn’t heard from John Middleton or Dave Dumbrossski yet since the season ended. With everything going on, they haven’t communicated. That’s the only like Thank you Harper for sharing that moment that I got out of the piece. Other than that, he’s uncomfortable with trade. Well, then win. Win a World Series. I’m sorry that makes you uncomfortable that when there’s failure. Hey, listen. Boom is hurted every day. Nick has hurt it every day. Trey, your boy Trey Turner has been annihilated every second and you can’t take the trade talk talks, which by the way, you have the final say on the way your contract is constructed. It’s a little soft, Bryce. It’s soft. And I’m a Bryce guy. I’ve been here long enough. You’ve all listened to me. I ride with my guys. I’m a Jaylen Herzman. I’m probably one of the last and bean guys standing. Okay? I ride with my guys. Mitchoff looks out of shape as hell riding with him. It’s what I do. I ride with Bryce. But I’m going to tell you how it is. This is soft. It’s embarrassing. And he let me down cuz I thought he was bigger than this. I could see a world where Dave Dumbrossski sinks to that level. I didn’t think Bryce would sink to this level, but it keeps going back to that stupid contract and wanting an extension. And how much is Scott Boris pushing buttons? It’s unreal. Before we get back to the phones, Jim Salsbury shared his opinion on the Philly show, which he does a a phenomenal job on with Rube and Todd Zeleki. So, take a listen to what Jim Salsbury had to say about Bryce Harper and and the Dave Dumbrosski drama. Yeah, I said this last week. I don’t think they want to trade him. The owner wants him to go to Coopertown with a pee on his hat and I think he wants to stay here. I I do think he really likes it here. Uh, and he wants to win here. I didn’t have a problem with Dumbroski’s comments last week. I thought, like we said, you know, sometimes it gets tiring listening to podium speak and GM speak and cliches and and non-committal answers and uh political answers I used to toss out there. Yeah. Being afraid to speak your mind. I thought he spoke his mind. Yeah. Um and I’m sure those were conversations they’ve had upstairs and and maybe it just came out in a press conference setting. I don’t know that it was premeditated because I don’t know that you can anticipate that question, but I honestly commend him for being honest because I thought it was a really good season, but not a Bryce Harper season. Correct. Uh the thing he left out was, yeah, Bryce had that that wrist. He missed a month. Might have been a lot different if he didn’t have the wrist soreness and and played that entire month. But nonetheless, I think everybody should be able to take this. Stop being so sensitive. the boss said something, he critiqued someone. Now it’s up to the athlete, the the employee to to respond. And knowing Bryce a little bit, how competitive he is. And he’s almost a little bit like Kurt Schilling because he finds that little motivation streak where nobody else can. You know, like Tito used to say about Schilling. He used to get motivated on bobblehead day. If you slighted Schilling in the simplest way, he’d come back and stick it right up your nose. You know what I mean? And maybe that’s what Bryce can do. And maybe that’s what Bryce has in him. I think he does have a little bit of that in him. I I do too. I do think that this is a button push. Um but I think it’s a button push hoping for that response. I think you may get that response, but the path to get the response is going to be uglier than you wanted. If that makes sense. And maybe Dave Dumbrosski doesn’t care about how he gets there. He just wants to get there. He just wants Bryce to be out of this world elite. And he felt questioning him is a way to give him a spark that he was missing. But where he miscalculated was what was going to transpire before you actually get the onfield product. But again, maybe Dave doesn’t care about that because if the onfield product is what he’s looking for, then that’s what he’s looking for. But it doesn’t mean it’s right. I I think there’s other ways to get Bryce Harper back on track. And now look at where we are. Now look at how messy this is. Bryce Harper doesn’t speak. Okay. Bryce Harper doesn’t sit down on October 25th with Matt Gelb. All due respect to Matt Gelb. I’m just saying this is not a Bryce. Look, when BG was retired, you could get to BG. Okay? You could sit down with BG, Jason Kelsey. You could get Kelsey. He’s everywhere. Bryce Harper’s not everywhere. This is off season and he’s sitting there putting out pieces on the weekend. Two of them, one national, one local. So, this thing’s getting ugly. And I’ll disagree with Jim here. Obviously, Jim is phenomenal. We all love Jim. But I don’t commend him for that. I don’t I I just I don’t think that’s what a leader does. I don’t think a leader pulls that card. I think he’s right with his assessment because we all watch the season, but just because the assessment was fair from what he saw from a baseball standpoint, you don’t put him on blast like that. If you missed it, Bryce Harper is using the media over the last 48 hours to throw shots at the fan base and to throw shots at one Dave Dumbrossski for the remarks made after the season ended. Is he elite? Can he get back to being elite? How great can he be? Freddy Freeman’s this other players are that? What’s Bryce Harper? I don’t know. It’s unbelievable. And what I think is going on as we talk through this is I think it is obviously a media play to keep pushing and being obnoxious about a contract extension, which is flat out wrong for Bryce to pull those strings. But he wants people, they want people, him and his team and his agent to feel sorry for him. That’s where we are right now because most fans side on the player. AJ Brown, Bryce Harper. Now, there are some that don’t like Abid. No. Trey, no. There are some where it’s not, but there are certain guys where if it falls in that category where they’re very pro that player, they get obnoxious, insane amount of love to the point where it’s probably irrational and they always side with them. Bryce falls in that category. They know it. So, they’re using that to their advantage. Woe is me. The trade talks. I don’t deserve the trade talks. I chose you. He He’s being manipulative. Or they are. See, I keep saying he is, they are, but he’s allowing, even if it is Scott Boris, he’s allowing Scott Boris to play this hand on his behalf, which is why it disappoints me cuz at some point Price has to step up and say, “This isn’t good for my image. Screw my image. I don’t feel strongly about this enough to even take this route. I have a name to represent here and this isn’t good. I don’t like this.” But no, so he obviously co-signs unless he got talked into it and he hates every second of this. But I find it hard to believe because at the end of the day, he wants the contract extension. And if he gets that, then he doesn’t care how he got there. He just wants the money. This is a sticky situation. Let me tell you, it’s not trending in the right direction. That I know for sure. Nick gets a new agent because he was representing himself, which is fine because we knew he was walking out the door anyway. Why do I know that? Well, I know that because Dave essentially told you, which also means what Dave is saying, there’s truth to it. And there’s something messy going on between him and the superstar Bryce Harper. How do I know that? He’s telling you. And it’s getting rough right now. And Bryce, he did the wrong thing. He did. He played right into this on a public level when it’s clear you got to sit at a table behind the scenes and talk this through. He said, “I didn’t hear from Middleton or Dave since the season ended.” Then reach out to them. Be the bigger man. Be the responsible adult. Be the professional. If Dave makes those comments, you don’t like them. Then you talk to you read. What was that? What was that? Is there a problem with sitting down with someone? For example, I had something come up in my personal life. Nothing insane, but something I didn’t like. I called the individual. I said, “Hey, I would like to get together.” We sat down. I said, “This is how I feel about it.” They said, “Okay, I totally understand. This is what we’re going to do moving forward. I apologize. I also apologize.” Say like, “Listen, I you know, I I’m uncomfortable even putting us in this situ. I don’t like this. You know, I’m just just letting you know this is kind of how I feel about things.” And we we talked like responsible adults. They haven’t spoken to each other yet. This is the first time they’re hearing Bryce’s side of it. How is that possible? How is that mature? How is that being a leader of a franchise? That’s crazy. And here’s one last thing that just hit me before we get back to the phones at 2155929494. There’s going to be a strike. The union players union owners, there’s going to be a stoppage. I got to imagine that that’s making things boil even more. How this is going to play out, I don’t know. From a league standpoint, but between the players association, it’s trending towards you ain’t seeing baseball. And that’s probably also causing a fracture throughout the talks with money because people don’t know. It’s an unknown. How do you s this off season, let alone just Bryce this off season? How do you operate when you don’t know exactly how these contracts and numbers are going to impact everything right after the bar bargaining agreement is all squared away unless there’s a grace period, but we don’t know. So, I think that’s probably making things uncomfortable as well. Rob in Overbrook, you’re on WIP. Hey, Rob. What’s up, Bruce? What’s up? I’m really disappointed in you, man. Oh, no. What’ I do? I mean, just continually whining about the last time I checked, Bryce Hopper was a man fullown. Yes. So, stop with the Scott Boris is manipulating him. What is he a puppet? Is he Pinocchio or something? Popper is saying and doing exactly what he wants to do. You know why? Because I’ve been saying this since he got here. He’s a loser. And people uh you know the the the previous call, I love I don’t love Bryce Harp. I don’t love people that don’t love me back or can’t love me back. All right. He’s a nice ball player. He’s not one of the top 10 players in the league right now. And I never thought he was. And well, that’s very like he once was. That’s why it’s upsetting is because he once was that and now he’s obviously getting older and it seems to be slipping. And that’s why we’re in this controversy that we’re in. Well, and that could be that that and that and that’s probably true, but would you please stop with the Scott Boris? But Scott Boris runs the asylum in the in the baseball world. So, so, so what? So, what you’re saying that uh uh Bryce Harper isn’t a man of his own of of his own doing. Bryce Harper is by somebody else exactly what you said. No, Scott But Scott Boris does. It’s like a It’s not an opinion, Rob. It is a fact that Scott Boris runs the show for the most insane high-profile baseball athletes and he manipulates everything. But you don’t know that. No, I No, no, no. It is a fact. But you’re not making But you don’t know that in this case. Okay. So, it’s a case. It’s a case all the time. It’s a case all the time, but it’s not with Bryce offer me. open the show with this as my statement which is written down in front of me. Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. Bryce was wrong and he did more damage. That is literally the first two sentences on my notes to set up my show today. So I am not deflecting blame, but Rob, excuse me, u Scott Boris is a part of this problem. He runs the asylum. I until I know for sure you’re making assumptions. No, I’m not. I’ve been making assumptions. It’s not an assumption. Bryce Harper says what Bryce Harper wants to stop. Like Bryce Harper is some innocent path in this. Bryce Harper let me down. Bryce was wrong and did more damage. Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. He had no business publicly addressing Dave and the fans. He leaked information to Haymon Friday where he said he was pissed off and he spoke to Matt Gel for a piece today. Bryce was wrong and did more damage. You let me know where I’m letting Bryce Harper off the hook. Bryce Harper let me down this weekend. He was wrong and he did more damage. Are you disappointed Bryce went public? 2155929494. Let me know where I’m letting Bryce Harper off the hook for what he said. Now, it’s fair to point out that Scott Boris runs the show. You don’t understand how much of an impact this man has throughout the sport. He’s the biggest name in baseball. Scott Boris is literally up there with show Otani in regards to names in baseball. This guy controls everything. That is a fact. That doesn’t mean Bryce Harper gets off the hook. Both can be true. We can put all the blame on Bryce for not handling this properly and also realize that Scott Boris is playing the game cuz he wants to get paid and he wants Bryce to get more money and they want the extension together. 215929494. Coming up next, your phone calls. Okay. And how much when you look at this situation with John Middleton, how much does he have his ties with Bryce compared to his ties with Dave and where he probably leans on all this, the owner? That’s so damn important. It’s bros with you. It’s 94 WIP.

  1. Dombrowski's initial statement was not necessary, and was showing lack of faith and confidence in Harper. If he was going to say anything, he needed to be more positive and supportive of Harper. Considering Harper missing 30 games and I'm sure more games than that dealing with his wrist issue, he had an excellent year, in being second on the team in doubles, homers, walks, slugging, and OPS. Also, there's nothing wrong with Harper giving his opinion on the statement and all the other talk. Oh, one more amazing stat…during the season, Harper saw pitches in the zone only 43 percent of time, the fewest out of 532 players (minimum 200 pitches). He didn't get pitches to hit, but still managed to do well.

  2. The big question. Will. Harper. Fire. GM. Dave dombrowski. Harper has never had an impact high power right hand bat batting behind him

  3. People were ripping me defending Harper in your last video about this massive disrespect. I was right, this does nothing to help Harper's motivation, only hurts. Why on earth would you say that stuff in public??? If you want to criticize, fine, but you HAVE to do it behind closed doors.

  4. Scott Boris did the same thing with Pete Alonzo last year. Not good all around. I do believe neither Dombrowski nor Harper should air their dirty laundry in public. Everything is getting out of control.

  5. 11:08

That’s how you describe not just Dave , but also Bryce as well

Sorry , you’re the superstar and you gotta deliver

Don’t wanna. Hear now “oh don’t talk about your superstar like that publicly, how dare you hold him more accountable then the people do to Jalen hurts”

Jalen hurts has done more for Philly than Bryce Harper has, and it hurts to call him out 🤷🏽‍♂️

  6. Fans have coddled Harper since he signed here, it’s been time for him to get the same criticism that Jalen and embiid get. Y’all dog hurts every play but Harper gets a pat on the back and a we’ll get him next year.

  7. Here's how I see the whole Bryce Harper and Dave Dombrowski situation. So throughout this past season, it was reported that Bryce wanted to work out a new contract extension. It was also reported that he's after a much bigger payday – we're talking somewhere in that crazy money territory like what Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto are pulling in. My guess is that when Dave Dombrowski came out and made those comments about Bryce's 2025 performance before they even sit down to negotiate, he was basically sending a not-so-subtle hint to Bryce and his agent Scott Boras. He's pretty much saying "look, I don't think Bryce has earned the right to be making Ohtani or Soto money, so don't even bother walking in here asking for anything close to those numbers."

  8. Bryce also had an injury this year too where only Bryce truly knows how that affected the rest of his season. Bryce Harper I guarantee has a lot more left in him to give us on the field

  9. This is why John Middleton needs to fire Dave dombrowski as team president and GM. His disrespect for the fans and the players are a disgrace to me. If he’s not fired then I’m done watching this team play.

  10. It's obvious to the most casual observer that Harper did not have an "elite" season. It's not even close to his existing contract ending. Something's lacking on this team. It reminds me of the '76-'78 Phillies who had talent but could only rise to a certain level year after year. Leadership? Is Harper another Schmidt with the talent and numbers but not a motivator? Who's another Rose to bring in and get his teammates to perform in the playoffs and reach the promised land?

  11. BRODES, you weren't even born when this happened but THE GREAT ONE, HALL OF FAMER , ELITE PLAYER and perennial .300 hitter, due to nagging injuries once had a sub par season, hitting just .291. Some people in baseball and the media thought he was done. Well, the bext year he hit over .300 again. My point is that even superstars have sub par seasond and get injured and BRYCE isn't the exception . All of thus stuoid contrversy was because of DUMBrowski lack of discernment. He lit the match and BRYCE has kept the fire going. STUPID MOVE BY DUMBrowski going public like that. Now he better start mending fences fast and concentrate on his JOB. BY THE WAY, DUMBrowski better get a deal done with SCHWARBER because BRYCE will need protection in the lineup in 2026. THIS IS MY HUMBLE OPINION CONCERNING THIS MATTER, AND I'M NOT NOR WILL I EVER BE A PHILLIES' FAN. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I DESPISE THEM 'CAUSE I'M A METS' FAN.
