Is it really just “bad luck.” Especially when you go back 8 years with multiple different players.
Is this a Dustin Perry issue? A Shanahan issue? Are they not subbing frequently enough?
It would be different if Lynch was knowingly signing injury prone guys for one reason or another – but it just seems like every year, with different players, the Niners lead the league in injuries.
Completely takes all the wind out of your sails as a fan.

It’s not luck. One or two seasons sure but this is systematic problem from head coach to conditioning to practicing hard instead of smart. It’s especially upsetting because team hasn’t changed anything to address this pattern
Something has to change. New training staff or the training system????
It’s not just bad luck. We do something I’m sure can be proven wrong. But team decided to stay course. Sunk cost fallacy.
Some of those are literally bad luck or unrelated freak injuries.
Sam’s injury today. Warner basically getting rolled on after the whistle. Bosa’s injury. And so on.
But what can be blamed on Shanahan running them ragged in practice – has he acknowledged this? Has he changed that?

If they could address this they would have already.
Any idea who #2 is and how many games missed? Curious how big of a margin this is
49ers training room and staff rank in the bottom 1/3 of the NFLPA poll this past year.

How about the Harbaugh years?
How about Kyle’s years with the Redskins?
Shanny should lose all control over strength conditioning hires and no control over medical decisions. One major thing Lombardi has reported on several times is the lack of stretching compared to other teams prior.
Shannys the 2nd best play caller in the league but the injuries were unacceptable even prior to this season.
Shame many don’t want to put the blame where it rightfully belongs and that’s Shanahan but being a real fan means burying your head in the sand and pretending nothing is wrong.
Do the same as the Rams, Eagles and Raven did, combine weight training and athletic training into one, give the athletic trainer complete control over who starts. It’s what these teams did. Little [our current trainer] came in to this after we fired the last staff in 2019 or something.. so it was a shit show, but he needs to be replaced with a hybrid person with modern techniques like using AI to customize training to the individuals, expand the rehab facility and please use or cities freaking TECH! we’ve had three trainers in the history or this org, like what?
Who has the best outcomes over this time period? Hire them all, copy their turf and facilities, train like they do, eat like they do. Whatever it takes
People want something to blame but the problem is what the hell is causing the problem in the first place? How do we address the problem if we don’t know the cause? The training staff is the easy scapegoat but you look at all the ways the injuries happen no training staff protects you from that.
Nah, it’s not luck.
– We don’t shy away from injury-prone players. In fact, you can argue that it’s how we’ve gotten some of our gems in the draft.
– We run an offense that leads to more wear-and-tear and injuries and our guys get a bit too overzealous in their blocking.
– Our players go for kill-shots on defense rather than wrap up. Guys like Hufanga, Greenlaw and Mustapha are always going to being more injury-prone because they use their bodies as missiles.
Lots of bad takes in this thread fueled by depression and frustration so I’ll forgive it. It’s all horrible bad luck. The sports gods, for whatever reason, continue to sick their grim reaper on our players every year. I can only hope that the scales will eventually shift our way and we win 3 super bowls starting next year.
Idk but i know they don’t stretch in practice
I love Kyle and want him forever but I think he needs to do something about practice.
They don’t believe in static stretching. The times I did dynamic stretching only, I strained a groin/quad. Make static stretching cool again?
They really need to stop doing the “callusses” thing. 3 practice days in a row in preseason, seems pretty clear it’s contributing to the injuries at this point
I agree some of this is bad luck. But there other concerns. An OL that isn’t anywhere near what it should be. Players being pushed to their limits. To name two other possibilities.
I can’t easily find all the data. Who are the least injured teams since 2017?
A couple searches indicate the Bears, Cardinals, and Commanders.
I’ve excused it for a long time I’m also becoming convinced it has something to do with the conditioning/training/physical therapists/coaching or something. Idk about any of this stuff but it just can’t be bad luck anymore at this point.
Anybody got a stat on which field have the most injuries? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Practicing too hard and not stretching
At some point it has to be a training staff issue.
Didn’t see the game today….did we accrue more injuries during the game?
2036 compared to what? We all know it’s bad but would love a little perspective.
At the end of the day I think it’s a combination of all of the above. The sample is way too high for this to just be bad luck.
I’m sure it contributes, but so does drafting injury prone players, our notoriously physical practices, maybe our training staff, maybe our practice field.
But at the end of the day is shanahan who has to adjust and he clearly hasn’t.
And maybe this is the price for being so good these last 8 years. Some years our luck is bad, combined with all of the above and we end up with a talented team that can’t play on the field due to injuries.
Maybe we don’t go to the Superbowl a few years ago without shanahan risking our team with his decisions.
But clearly there has to be some changes. This really feels like a lost season and the window is closing
Yeah its a legitimate issue in the Kyle Shannahan regime but criticizing Shannahan on this sub means you’re a fake fan so🤷♂️
Have move out of Santa Clara. Clearly we are cursed.
Need more context. How far ahead are they from the other teams? I’d be more curious for starters/big names being injured since 2017.
they added 5 new pork dishes to the cafeteria this year. This is no coincidence
They draft players who have been injured in the past. They also trade and sign players who are injury prone. They look for deals, so to speak.
That’s only part of the problem. I do think it’s too easy to say “it’s conditioning.” These guys aren’t huffing and puffing. Fred Warner couldn’t condition himself for the injury he sustained.
Me after reading this stat…

The last city I worked in had less citizens than that by 100 people, smh!
It has to be their strength and conditioning program because it happens every season. Does Shanahan have them doing Navy Seal training or something Monday through Saturday for 12 hours a day?
I’m all for having the players be physically dominant and in incredible shape but for anyone that’s played any sports and trained in their life, recovery is just as important as training. Maybe emphasize recovery a bit more, Kyle.
I’ve liked Shanahan as a coach and his tenure has been great but this has been his biggest flaw. There are just too many injuries under his leadership
Once our injuries regress to the mean you guys are fucked /s
