The Oilers are sending a clear message that they are not taking their foot off the gas in this third period here, Cheryl. Well, you can certainly tell that they bought into the game plan and the coach is certainly ecstatic with the performance of the entire bench. I mean, look at the way they’re moving and holding the puck, attacking the net at the right times. It has been a seamless effort with authority. I like that there’s no put and they keep their feet moving and that hit is executed. But when you’re down a bunch of holes late in the third and you know it’s over, that’s frustration. And too much traffic in front. Blocks that one. [Applause] Edmonton’s manufactured plenty of offense tonight and they lead here late in this third period. [Applause] The Oilers win the defensive zone faceoff takes it center and called for the offside. We’ll get a face off. Skinner’s got the puck and he’s going to hang on. Centers glide into the dots. We’re ready to get things back going again. The Oilers start with the puck in their own end. They’re picking up steam through the neutral zone. Moves inside. Here’s a shot. Demco is going to give everyone a chance to breathe and hang on to the puck. And they win the face off and set up to go. Stooped up along the wall by O’ Conor. Handles the pass from the right wing. The Oilers gain possession in their own end. Oh, and he steps up with the glove to stop that one. [Applause] [Applause] Rogers won the draw here in the offensive zone. Comes up with the stop and the goalie covers up for the whistle. [Applause] The Oilers are just minutes away from closing out this blowout. They have had plenty of scoring opportunities and have maximized most of them. takes the puck at the point. Quick shot blocked in traffic. Moves it to Ehold and now he tries to get it across to Heyman. Pass across to Ratu. Here’s a short pass to O’ Conor. Edmonton’s gained possession along the boards. Magan’s moving it ahead into the middle of the neutral zone. Fats it over. Puck exits the zone. Quick feed to Akhole. Puck scooped up by Newton Hopkins. Vancouver’s got a hold of the puck now. The Oilers are looking to protect the lead here late in this third period as they have been the dominant offensive club. Cougars won the draw deep in the defensive zone. Good fight for the puck along the boards. Final horn sounds bringing this one to a close. Cheryl, I like to try to preach to my kids, sharing is caring, but in this one it was all about puck possession here. No sharing. Well, sometimes there’s a time to share and sometimes there is the time to keep it to yourself and be selfish and really felt that they were evasive. They held the puck well.
