Demercado Fumbles on the goal line

SPERO: SHIRD AND SHORT.
FIRST DOWN, DEMERCADO OFF TO THE RACES, 20, 10, TOUCHDOWN.
A 72-YARD SPRINT. DID HE DROP IT EARLY?
BOY, THAT’S GOING TO BE CLOSE. SPERO: BOY HE EXTENDED IT WITH
HIS HAND A LITTLE BIT. SNEAD’S TRYING TO SAY THAT HE
GOT THE BALL OUT. WOW.
YOU SEE HIM KIND OF PUT IT ON HIS FINNGER TIPS BUT DID HE HAV
CONTROL? BOY, WE HAD THAT CRAZY PLAY LAST
YEAR WITH THE JETS WHERE WE SAW

  1. this was the wrong call, for so many reasons. i still say he had the ball when it broke the plane of the goal line, but even if he didn't he flipped the ball forward, which should have been a dead ball and penalty for illegal forward pass. once it hit the ground in the end zone, it should be dead there. if they ruled him short of the end zone, it should be arizona ball 5 yards from the spot of the foul.

  2. Is it REALLY such a big flex to drop the football the millisecond you cross the goal line? Is it REALLY so important you can't just hold on for a second? Whatever happened to a good old fashioned end zone spike?

  3. Why aren’t these types of plays treated as illegal forward passes rather than fumbles? He released the ball intentionally and it went forward. I’m not a rules expert, just generally curious.

  4. I think he had control of the ball to the actual line… but why risk it? Why do people do this? Hold onto the ball, run through the back line with a VISE GRIP on said ball, then literally touch it down to the ground. Or hand the ball to the ref and do a dance.

  5. This and the Adonai fumble are particularly bad. I know I’m late but given the touches they’ve received after their mistakes is relevant now. These two had chances to stamp their mark to become a guy, whether their current team or another. All they had to do was cross the line to fully showcase their big play potential and a need to get the ball in the hands of these guys more. What do they do though they drop the football before crossing the finish line. Years of hard work, perseverance, blood sweat and tears all about to pay off for you and you drop it at the finish line literally.

  6. That sunday ticket ad is real cute considering you steal Giants games from Connecticut fans and attempt to sell them back for profit. I will be taking those games BACK for FREE thanks to piracy. Nice try though!
