  1. 40 – 11 run, holy cow!

I’ll find my copium in that the Spurs were without Fox, Luke, Sochan, and Olynyk today 😅

    During that awful stretch.

I think I’m just traumatized from how many times we’ve let that happen in that the last two seasons. Thought we were past that, but guess not.

  3. They left Wemby out too long n the 3rd 🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿 but we got da dub 🤷🏿🤷🏿💪🏿💪🏿

  4. It reminded me of when the championship Spurs would play bad in early scheduled games. Thankfully we still got the win but unacceptable for sure.

  5. I think that wouldn’t have happened if some of the veterans who were out were available.

  6. Basketball is a game of runs. These things can happen, especially when you’re down to your 4th string 33 year old center taking up heavy minutes due to injuries.

If this had happened while he had Olynyk or Kornet i’d be more concerned

  7. This can happen to any team any given night in the NBA. The important thing is finishing and they got the W.

  8. It was another uglyish win, but honestly no team is immune to a game like this. basketball is all about runs, the biggest thing to me is we ended on a 10-0 run to put them away. This team loses this game last year or even the past few, but they rallied without their backup C, starting PG, and two forwards who will be rotational pieces.

Also, let’s be real, the Nets hit some bullshit lmao

  9. Gotta run the bench with that stretch. It should not have gotten that close but they need the practice.

  10. This happens every night in the league. It will happen again and again. It’s how you respond and they responded and won. Props to Harper and his calm, confidence presence. This team is still trying to figure out how to counter the double (triple) teams to Wemby and they’ll figure that out and it should be pretty smooth sailing from there.

  11. It was disheartening, but it happens. Just another example of how good the talent in the league is. Even mid or bad teams are capable of going on runs and getting hot. The important thing is that we preservered and got the dub. We don’t win this game last season.

  12. tbf, last season and even the season before, the Spurs would not have held on and would have lost that game. A Dub is a dub is a dub. Let these young guys gain this experience.

  13. On one hand, thats abysmal. No one could respond properly and our defense was collapsing. Bad look all around.

On the other hand, no Fox, no Sochan, no Kornet and we still won. Our young guys are starting to be able to close games. This and the last game we probably don’t win last year and absolutely don’t win 2 years ago. The growth is there.

  14. I’m sorry, I started watching in the 3rd. I stopped when Brooklyn went up, so I turned it off.

    You’re welcome, SA.

  15. LUKE KORNET MVP CASE STARTED TODAY but seriously Kornet probably takes away at least 8-10 points from that nets run alone

  16. That’s my bad guys, I stopped watching at half time, tuned back in when we were down in fourth.

  17. The Spurs have five players injured including Fox Kornet Sochan, no team in the NBA is that deep that this wouldn’t happen when many of their best players are on the bench.

  18. These things happen. Even to good teams. If you’re already getting weak knees, you’re going to have a hard time. This team is talented, but they are still very young. There’s going to be growing pains and rough stretches. Gird your loins, kid.

  19. This one is on me guys. During the third quarter I said something like “what if we get a close finish too?” because I was excited to be in attendance for the game. Love to see a spurs blowout and a tight fought closing stretch in the same game (selfishly).

  20. We had no depth at the 4 and 5. If we had Kornet, this wouldn’t happen. It will get even better once we have Sochan as well. Bismack wad atrocious today.

  21. You mean: *This cannot happen ANYMORE 😵‍💫”
You used a double negative which means you are asking for it to happen MORE often not less often. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

  22. This will happen again because the 3 point shot has made any lead not safe and our team is still young led by young players so mistakes will be made.

  23. Last two games have been awful for us. These games should have been easy win for us but we almost lost both games.

I badly want to have Fox back ASAP. Hopefully we get him soon. We need more stability when Wemby sits down to rest.

The good thing is our young players experience more nerve-racking moments which will be helpful in the future.

  24. The thing is, we have the tools to avoid this kind of shit. When we can’t buy a bucket, we’ve shown in these last couple of games that we can force our way to the line (making em is another issue).

    1.) Scoring droughts

    2.) Can’t defend the 3

    3.) Turnovers

  25. This was a nice test for the team and a wonderful response, very much unlike last year when the guys would get a big lead, then lose it

  26. A 40 to 11 run, my god. These are ghosts of the 3rd quarter Spurs that haven’t been fully exorcised yet.

  27. Sure it can, and it will. 20 point leads are nothing in basketball, which is an especially elastic game (or a game of runs if you prefer that).

The best teams find a way to get it done anyways when this happens.
