Houston Texans get offense going in victory over 49ers | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
THE HOUSTON TEXANS HAD A ROUGH NIGHT MONDAY NIGHT IN SEATTLE. THEY GOT HOME LATE GAME ENDED AFTER 1:00 EASTERN TIME ON TUESDAY TO TURN ON PLAY AT 1:00 EASTERN TIME, ON SUNDAY AT HOME, THEY GOT THE SHORT STRAW ON THE SHORT WEEK. BUT YOU KNOW, WHAT DIDN’T MATTER THAT DEFENSE SUFFOCATING AND I THOUGHT A LITTLE SHANAHAN DEMO. RYAN’S, I THOUGHT SHANAHAN WOULD HAVE THE EDGE, RIGHT? IT FELT LIKE DEMO WENT OVER TO THE TEXAN COACHES AND WAS LIKE, HERE THIS IS WHAT SALAH IS DOING. THIS IS, THIS IS WILL GIVE THEM PROBLEMS. GIVE THIS PLAY TO CJ, STROUD, AND SEE HOW THEY HANDLE IT. HE KNOWS THAT DEFENSE AND HE DOES RIGHT, YOU KNOW, SO IT’S A VERY BASIC DEFENSE THAT YOU CAN BE RIGHT. IF YOU KNOW THE RULES, YOU KNOW, THE WEAKNESSES ARE EXACTLY RIGHT. THE RULES ARE NOT EVERYBODY KNOWS THEM AND IT’S TOUGH THAT WAY. AND AND, AND WE KNOW THAT HOUSTON DEFENSE FIRST OFF. YOU WERE JUST ALLUDING TO IT. IT’S SO GOOD. IT CAN ALMOST WIN GAMES BY ITSELF, LIKE IT DID ALMOST ON MONDAY NIGHT AND WE SAW YESTERDAY. I MEAN, THEY PHYSICALLY WHOOPED THE CRAP OUT OF THE 49ERS YESTERDAY, AND YOU USUALLY DON’T SEE THAT THEY COULDN’T RUN THE BALL. THEY COULDN’T PASS THE BALL. RIGHT? DO THE 49ERS DEFENSE COULD NOT GET OFF THE FIELD, ALL THE TEXANS SCORING DRIVES WERE 9 PLAYS OR MORE, RIGHT? THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE GAME WAS A 10-MINUTE DRIVE FOR A 60 YARDS. BASICALLY, REMEMBER THAT IF YOU SAY THAT IT’S IMPOSSIBLE FOR A TEAM IN OVERTIME TO TAKE THE BALL FOR THE FULL 10 MINUTES AND KICK THE FIELD GOAL, RIGHT? BUT TIME OF POSSESSION WAS A THING YESTERDAY, IT REALLY WAS. NOW THE 49ERS PUT UP A FIGHT, THEY SCORED AT THE END OF THE FIRST HALF AND YOU WENT, OOH! THEY’RE GETTING THE BALL TO START THE SECOND HALF, MAYBE THEY CAN MAKE A GAME OF IT BUT THE TEXANS DEFENSE FORCED THEM 3 AND OUT. AND THEN THE TEXANS WENT ON A 94 YARD TOUCHDOWN DRIVE TO MAKE A 23-7 AND THAT WAS LIKE NIGHT NIGHT MOMENT RIGHT THERE. BUT THEY RAN THE BALL A LITTLE YESTERDAY AND CJ, STROUD HAD HIS BEST GAME OF THE YEAR, THROWING THE FOOTBALL. I’M STILL A BIG BELIEVER IN CJ, STRAD. THEY JUST NEED TO HELP HIM OUT A LITTLE THERE. WELL, AND THERE WAS SO MUCH CHATTER ABOUT THAT TEAM COMING OUT OF THE LOSS TO THE SEAHAWKS, THE OFFENSE LOOKED SO BAD, BAD DEMO. RYAN’S WAS ASKED WHETHER OR NOT HE’S GOING TO AND I CAN’T REMEMBER WHETHER IT WAS LAST WEEK OR THE WEEK BEFORE THEIR, THEIR OFFENSE HAS BEEN SO I DON’T KNOW WHAT WEAK HE WAS ASKED, IS HE GOING TO FIRE BUT IT, IT JUST NEEDED TO START TO GEL AND THEY NEED TO DO A VOID FALLING FARTHER AND FARTHER BEHIND THE COLTS. SO THEY STILL HAVE AN UPHILL CLIMB. THE AFC IS GOING TO BE A DIFFICULT CONFERENCE. IT’S GOING TO BE HARD FOR THEM TO WIN THE DIVISION. IT’S GOING TO BE HARD TO GET A WILD CARD SPOT AND THIS IS A TEAM THAT HAD SET A STANDARD THE LAST 2 YEARS. I SAW SOMETHING LAST WEEK THAT LIKE THERE WAS AN ARTICLE THAT WAS LINKED BY SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL. SUGGESTING THAT NICK CASERIO COULD BE IN TROUBLE. IT’S LIKE, I MEAN, THEY HAVE TURNED THIS AROUND, THAT’S CRAZY, RIGHT? IT’S TURNED THIS AROUND. THEIR DEFENSE IS IS ALMOST PERFECT. IT’S FROM A ROSTER LOT OF PIECES, BUT THEY JUST DON’T HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER. THEY HAVE SOME YOUNG RECEIVERS THAT ARE KIND OF CLIMBING THE RANKS AS WE TALK RIGHT NOW. THERE WAS NO NICO COLLINS YESTERDAY, THERE’S NO CHRISTIAN KIRK. SO THERE’S THAT TOO. I MEAN, THEY THEY’VE DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB DOWN THERE IN HOUSTON THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE ORGANIZATION. I’M A BIG FAN OF IT. BUT YEAH, THE OFFENSIVE LINE AND THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR THINGS KIND OF BEEN THEIR KRYPTONITE AND THEY GOT TO GET IT FIGURED OUT. I’M NOT GIVING UP ON HOUSTON AND SNEAKING INTO THE PLAYOFFS QUITE YET. I’M NOT BECAUSE OF THEIR CULTURE, BECAUSE OF THEIR DEFENSE BECAUSE OF THE AFC AND SOME OF THOSE TEAMS AT THE BOTTOM, IN THE PLAYOFFS RIGHT NOW. I COULD CERTAINLY SEE THEM COME BACK, I COULD SEE THE JAGUARS FALLING OFF, SOME OF THESE TEAMS THAT ARE IN THE FALLING ENOUGH, RIGHT? SO I CAN SEE THE TEXAS GETTING BACK IN THE MIX OF THINGS HERE. SO YOU GOT, YOU GOT THE BILLS, YOU GOT THE STEELERS RAVENS, RIGHT? YOU GOT THE COLTS, YOU GOT THE CHIEFS, AND YOU GOT THE CHARGERS THE BRONCOS, AND THE PATRIOTS, THERE’S A LOT. THERE’S NOT GOING TO BE. THERE’S GOING TO

Both of these guys picked the 49ers to win and now they flip the switch😂
My Texans beat a good team we are back Texans SWARM
If the Texans can somehow make the playoffs Will Anderson will be DPOY. He’s unreal and not being talked about enough cause CJ gets all the attention
Texans are making the Playoffs. Let them stay under the radar.
Idk how Chris Simms thinks the Houston Texans almost beat the Seahawks on mnf with their defense? Shows he clearly fell asleep watching
I'm not asking much, just an okay offense to complement to this excellent defense. Not a world beater, just an okay offense. Please
The 9ers defense was the worst of the year. Didn't beat a good team? Missing 6 or 7 starters on D. Trains lose ne x t week watch.
The issue is EVERYONE knew the o-line was an issue since last season and it doesn't seem like Caserio did enough to address it. That and having a reliable #2 to the oft-injured #1 Nico. Thinking an oft-injured Christian Kirk would be able to hold the slack was a poor move. Those are the 2 main issues with management right now.
Three of four loses to NFC teams… big games ahead
Go watch the all 22. The Texans stopped trying to zone scheme everything. They wamed and cracked and busted out for 150 on the ground and gave up no sacks.
Niners injuries can't use as excuse because texans were injured
As a Texan Fan, we played an average defense, not to mention they didn’t have Bosa, Warner, and Both their back up Defensive ends. Then had 3 starters on the defensive side leave the game yesterday.
Next week we’ll be talking about how bad this offense is after we play one of the top Defensives in the league. Our schedule is going to be tough as we finish this season. Only games we have a decent chance of winning is against Tennessee, Oakland and the Cardinals.
We gotta win against the Broncos and hopefully Jacksonville loses tonight against KC
Colts have had easy easy schedule lol
LETS BE HONEST GUYS, I WOULD LOVE TO SAY WEREBACK, BUT THE WHOLE 49ERS DEFENSE IS OUT! IF WE CAN DO IT AGAINST A REAL DEFENSE, ILL BELIEVE IT
Stroud struggles when pressured. If the Niners had even an average pass rush yesterday, the game would have been different.
