How Does THIS Keep Happening To The Cincinnati Bengals?

We’re about 18 or so hours removed from that very embarrassing loss yesterday to the New York Jets, 39-38 in a game that you definitely should have won. So, we’re going to do the same thing we do here every single Monday. It is overreaction time for us today. I want to hear from you guys though down in the comments section before we get to some of these overreactions. What is your one-word reaction to that loss versus the New York Jets? Mine I think maybe unacceptable, embarrassing, abysmal. There’s a lot of things that you guys can uh you know, choose from there. Get creative. Uh you know, you can make some jokes down in the comments section as well. This is just a joke. Maybe that’s another one you guys could use. Let me know what you guys think. Your one-word reaction to that loss versus the Jets yesterday. All right, let’s get into some overreactions here. Now, number one, I’ve seen a lot of this on social media. It is time for the Brown family to sell the team. You have to start at the top if you want any kind of change with this Bengals franchise. You have had years and years of mediocrity under Marvin Lewis, and I’m afraid now it is the exact same thing under Zack Taylor. Don’t expect a firing to happen, though. That’s just what it is. You know, we talked about the defense yesterday. uh you know it is a you know is it a personnel issue or is it a coaching issue? I think it’s a little bit of both right now. I think they draft guys that they know that they won’t have to give these massive extensions to once that time comes. Uh you know they haven’t signed an offensive lineman that they drafted to a second contract since 2011. The front office is stretched just extremely thin right now. you only have two scouts because you don’t want to pay more guys in the front office. How in the world do you expect to be able to scout all of college football, NFL’s free agency pool, the UFFL when you only have two scouts? It is a complete joke what the Bengals, you know, ownership, you know, goes into. It’s to me it seems like it’s uh more of a pet project than going out there and trying to win games. Yeah, we can place a lot of blame on Zack Taylor, Al Golden. Those are the coaches of the team. But it all starts with a subpar ownership that you have right now in the Brown family. You know, they I think they look at this franchise more of, you know, how can we spend as little money as possible to be good enough to keep the delusion going and keep it alive and just keep people in the seats and just keep making money instead of how do we put ourselves in a position uh in the best position possible to win a Super Bowl? I don’t think they really have that type of mindset. I think they’re just super cheap. You know, there is a reason that the A’s didn’t win the World Series in Moneyball because you have to do more than just get on base. And right now, all the Bengals are doing week after week after week. They’re getting on base, but they are not scoring any type of runs. So, if you want Mike Brown to sell the team, drop a like on today’s video. Get down there. Um I I think it’s time, man. To me, it just seems like this is a pet project for the Brown family. It doesn’t seem like they have any type of real intention of, you know, putting money back into this franchise to actually bring a Super Bowl to Cincinnati. So, if you want the Brown family to sell the team, drop a like on today’s video. Overreaction number two, it might be time for a fire sale. I think you get one more week before you have to make that decision. If you do not beat the Bears next week, I think you have to start trading pieces. And I even saw somebody on Twitter earlier while I was scripting this video, um, you know, say maybe the Bengals instead of trading players, trading players for picks, they should trade some of their picks for players. The problem there is you just don’t really have any picks that you can afford to give up right now because you don’t play the draft compensation game in free agency either. I think the only two players that should have a, you know, not for sale sign on them right now is Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow. Everybody else should be free game. This all of course, you know, if you don’t beat the Bears next week, uh, you know, I I think you have to load up on draft picks because right now there just isn’t any type of fix for this Bengals defense in the season right now. And I don’t think, you know, building around Trey Hendrickson is really going to be the answer either. So, if that’s not the answer, I think you just might as well trade him for a couple of picks here. And when you only have the minimum number of picks every single year, you can’t fix it that way either. You know, the way that you evaluate talent in the draft just is not good enough. You have to have enough picks to factor in the fact that you are going to miss on a couple of guys throughout the NFL draft. Every team misses on picks. That’s just is what it is. We’ve showed this graphic before, but going back to 2019, all the top 100 picks from this, you know, Zack Taylor/Duke Tobin regime, uh, you know, Jonah Williams, maybe you could call him a miss. I’ll give that up to you or not. Drew Sample’s okay, but he’s a blocking tight end. He’s not really, you know, a major factor, I don’t think, in this Bengals offense. Germaine Pratt was a good player for you, but he’s not on the team anymore, and that’s only going back to 2019. I don’t think you should get any credit at all for drafting Joe Burrow or Jamar Chase in the first round. Those are no-brainer type of picks. You know, T. Higgins, maybe you could give him a little bit credit there for drafting him in the first or in the uh second round there. Number 33 overall. Jackson Carman’s a bust. Joseph Osai, I don’t think he’s really bringing anything to the table for you right now. The Bigles have absolutely zero pass rush no matter who is on the field. you know, Daxon Hill, uh, you know, maybe you could say that’s a hit there. Um, you know, in the first round, you know, Zack Carter, he’s not on the team anymore. Miles Murphy, I’m going to go ahead and say that’s a bust as well. DJ Turner, that’s a good pick right there. He’s playing at an allp pro level right now. Jordan Battle, uh, my god, dude. That angle that Jordan Battle took on that long Bree or Bree Hall run yesterday was just absolutely freaking atrocious. You can blame the coaching all you want, but the players as well, they’ve got to go out there and actually make plays on the football field. Um, there was another one, I think it was Demetrius Knight, got his ankles just absolutely took from him. Uh, you know, trying to come downfield and meet Bree Hall in the uh in the hole there. That that that run by Bree Hall against Jordan Battle was just absolutely atrocious. You keep going on here. I don’t necessarily want to call some of these guys bust because they’ve just been in the league now two years. But, you know, Marius Mims hasn’t necessarily looked like he’s uh, you know, really panning out right now. I just say he’s kind of mediocre right now. Same thing with Chris Jenkins Jr. I don’t really want to call him a bust, but he’s kind of mediocre right now. Germaine Burton, McKinley Jackson, both of those guys are constantly healthy scratches week after week after week. You know, Shamar Stewart, he’s been hurt since week two. you finally get him out here uh you know the past couple of weeks and he has been a non-factor for you. Demetrius Knight missing tackles constantly. I it’s just you know Dylan Fairchild may you know he’s a starter for you maybe you could say you know put him in that maybe category as well but just with the talent that you have right now I think a lot of that comes to you know talent evaluation in the draft and it really doesn’t matter under this regime right now you know if you only have two scouts you’re not going to evaluate talent very well that just is what it is man you got to be able to invest in the franchise you got to invest in some scouts. You got to invest in the front office. You got to have some help. And you also have to have some coaches as well that can evaluate talent and also put these players in a position to actually succeed. It is unbelievably bad. It really just going out there week after week after week. It is the same exact thing constantly. Paul Danner Jr. Hey, there’s been some crazy stats put out there uh you know on social media over the past you know whatever it’s been you know 18 20 hours or something like that since the game. Paul Danner Jr. putting this one out. We’ll get to another one here in just a second saying over the last three seasons the rest of the NFL is 866 and2 92.6% winning uh percentage there when scoring at least 38 points in a game. The Bengals are 1 and3 the only team in the NFL with a losing record. same kind of different type of statistic, but only for the Bengals on this front here. When scoring 38 points in a game, last two seasons, the Bengals are 1 and three. The first 56 seasons, they were 54 and four. I saw people online making, you know, some of these NBA, you know, investigation types of jokes. I’m not going to make any type of, you know, accusations or anything like that, but I do find those jokes kind of funny there. But this defense right now is just criminally bad. how how bad they are. The the Jets didn’t even have Garrett Wilson out there playing with them and they still got torched for over 500 yards. You couldn’t do anything stopping them on the ground. You couldn’t stop him through the air. You let Justin Fields have the best game maybe of his career. Uh it is just so bad, man. week after week after week, whether it’s missed tackles or guys just being in the wrong spots, whatever it is, um is I I hate griping on it because we say the same thing week after week after week now, but uh the the defense is criminally bad right now. Now, we’re going to keep calling out the ownership for being cheap. We’re going to keep calling out Zack Taylor, Al Golden, uh you know, for you, just really, really bad games here. You’re still sitting number two right now in the AFC North standings right there, you know, uh still just a game and a half right there behind the Steelers. Now, next week, the the Steelers did lose to the Packers last night, by the way. Um you know, so next week the Steelers play the Colts. Maybe that’s a loss for them. that might be a little coin flip type of game. The Ravens play the Dolphins. They might end up winning that game. The Browns play the Jets. That might be a coin flip there, but still the Browns defense is really really good. Uh and the Bengals play the Bears. So, a lot of different things could be could happen over the next week here. So, you could possibly be sitting, you know, tied for last or you could be, you know, a half a game behind the Steelers next week depending on how some of these games turn out. If the Bengals beat the Bears next week, I just know I’m going to be right back to my delusion phase that I was in, you know, the past couple of weeks here, thinking that they they’re going to turn this thing around just to, you know, get my heart ripped out at the end of the season. But technically, right now, the season is not over yet. So, what is your confidence level that the Bengals will beat the Bears next week? Let me know what you guys think. Type uh or scale it for me, one to 10 down in the comments section. one, you have no faith at all. 10, you think uh, you know, the Bengals are going to go out there and turn things around and, you know, beat the crap out of the Bears. Let me know what you guys think. Uh, scale for me 1 to 10 down in the comments section. Overreaction number five, they lied to us. This is not an overreaction at all. Do you guys remember back during the preeason when Zack Taylor kept saying that, you know, they weren’t showing anything on defense? The defense was actually playing pretty good against a Joe Burrowled offense in practice. And oh, by the way, Trey Hendrickson wasn’t on that defense either because he was holding in. They were lying to us. There is absolutely no way that they could or that that could have been true. This defense is absolutely horrid. They have given up now 16 points to the Browns. That’s actually not that bad there. But then after that 31 points, 48 points, 28 points, 37, 27, 31, 39. They have given up 500 yards twice already this season. They have given up at least 400 yards four times already this season. I really wanted to give this defense the benefit of the doubt because the offense was so bad under Jake Browning. They were constantly turning the football over three or four times per game. You know, the defense was constantly out there on the field. you’re going to give up more yards and more points naturally because of that. You know, somebody I think should tell Zack Taylor and Al Golden and the guys actually playing out there on defense that the preseason was over two months ago. You can actually go out there and start playing real football now.
