Miami Heat Take Out Knicks In Home Opener! | Norman Powell 29 Points | Jaime Jaquez Jr. Stays Hot!
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Your Miami Heat beating the New York Knicks 115 107 in their home opener and run their record to two- one. It was, and I don’t think I am exaggerating when I say this, gooseies on top of gooseies on top of gooseies on top of gooseies galore. All right, the rest of my house is sleeping. I don’t want to wake them all up for a for a regular season. But let me tell you something, dude. Uh enjoyed the holy hell out of today. Uh I was in the radio booth today with uh with Jax, Amy Otterbert, Solana. I was filling in for Tommy Ty. Uh shout out to the uh the entire crew there. Ben Rivera, uh Gary Abar, everybody on the radio broadcast today. We had a grand old time because the Miami Heat sent the New York Knicks packing with a big time win today. Uh really just a a a fun fun dynamic that this team has, man. I mean, it really, you know, last year I was just thinking about like, you know, I said this at one point where I was like, I enjoyed parts of the preeason more than I enjoyed any part of any of last year’s regular season. And one of the things that has really been missing has been taking advantage of home and getting big-time home wins and making it mean something to play in that building. And I not to get all sentimental on everybody, but like they did the uh the honoring of Mike Biamonte today and you’re just like, man, he home games are just never going to be the same without Mike B. Man, he’s the best. He’s an element, you know? He’s he is he’s he is an an icon in that building. And I’d really love it if this first if this, you know, I would really love for his last year to just have a a a kick-ass home record. And look, I don’t know what this year is going to be, but I will say that the Miami Heat did stay true to their word early on. This team is free flowing, more fun, electric, and it’s a good time. It’s a good time watching this crew right now. I don’t I I just, man, there were times in that second half when the Miami Heat really felt like they were putting the hammer down on the Knicks, and you’re just like, man, I I just this is crazy to see the chemistry they have amongst each other trying to get everybody involved. And this was a weird game. It was a very strange game. I mean, you had Jaylen Brunson, one of the one of those peak of his powers Jaylen Brunson games where he just leaves you with squeaky cheeks. Every time, you know, the Knicks, they’re they’re going through their own little transition of not having uh of having Tom Tibido gone and having Mike Brown as the new coach. and you know, so they’re trying to figure their own pace and style and not all just be like Jaylen Ball and whatever. But quite frankly, they needed him today. They needed every every bit of the 37 points that he brought to even make it respectable at the end because the Miami Heat looked like they were about to to run away and high with this thing. And then all of a sudden, he’s like, “Not so fast, my friend.” I mean, he he seems to really enjoy playing in that building. Um, but he’s such a he’s such a hard coverver. He is like every he’s so patient and then he knows how to mix an explosion and he knows how to bait the fouls and you know you knew going into this game it was going to be a game of DaVon Mitchell and we’ll see what Spo throws at him and and Spo usually loves playing against the small guards and giving them nightmares and for this this is this is a different this is a different dude. He’s a different cat this Jaylen Brunson. So, um, Long has had my respect, but every time he plays it, he seems like he gets even more of it. But you know how many points he scored tonight, though, ladies and gentlemen? I’ll give you a hint. It was not enough, dude. That’s how many points he scored. Not Not enough. That’s how many points. And let me tell you something right now. I I gotta say something. This bam out of bio, okay? because this is going to go undersold today in a game where like he did not have the prettiest game shooting. Although he did have the coolest alleyoop dagger ever and basically told all the Knicks, “See you, dude.” But there was a point in this game Jaylen Brunson is cooking everybody. They’re throwing DaVon at him. They’re throwing Wiggins at him. They’re throwing Drew Smith at him. They’re throwing everybody they can think of at him to try and make this happen. But let me tell you something, dude. There was a point where they threw bam out of bio on him and like that was the lone guy Jaylen Brunson wanted no part of at all. Bam. Autobio was sitting in here and he there was a point where the Heat were starting to go away in the fourth quarter and really uh get this going. I mean, you know, this this second unit’s been something. I mean, it’s really been something special. I don’t want to deter off, but they were in the midst of a run and Jaylen Brunson, you know, he’s going to try and bring shot for shot and they go to Bam. And Bam is like sitting there on the wing is iceoed with Jaylen Brunson. obviously has a huge size advantage, but like it kind of brought you back to the days of when he was a young rookie and sticking Steph Curry in the corner and those fast feet because Brunson was like, “Oh boy, he’s like trying to get by and you’re just likem not doing that dude.” And he just he couldn’t he couldn’t get by. Every was getting everybody but he couldn’t get banned. And I’m just like, man, that dude, the fact that this guy wasn’t on all defense last year is such a joke because he is such a freaking demon. And so Brunson throws up this heave, nowhere close. Fonteio comes back the other way, gets a bucket. The Heater up 14. It’s an absolute party. And man, I was just like, look, look at the look at this dude. What he’s able to do when he is got when he is just like I’m going to I’m just going to smother him. He did it again, too. Like right before two minutes left, he’s like all over him and Brunson just throws it out of bounds. I think he wants no part of being around Bama Bio. And I’m just like, dude, we could talk. Did he turn the ball over? Yeah. Did he have the Did he have the the prettiest shot today? No. Now, one thing I will say I love about his game, uh, is that he is getting to the free throw line at a a at quite a pace in these first couple of games. So, that has been noticeable from BAM. So, but that that one just really stood out to me because Jaylen Brunson was an absolute monster today. all the otherwise they needed to basically cut off the head, you know, of the snake, throw gasoline on it, light a match, and then bury it and hope that that was the end of it because it felt like Jaylen Brunson just would not go away quietly at all for the Miami Heat. Thankfully, after he got it to a f, it went from 18 to five. And I was like, Andrew Wiggins hits a monster three to put the heat up eight and that was about all she wrote. Cat got an offensive foul. He stunk tonight. And then after Bronson had a miss, uh, Nico willy-nilly down the line, throws up a a moon alleyoop and and and and bam just cracks it into the rim and it was it was awesome. It was it was an awesome night, dude. It was an awesome night to see this. But um you know the first guy you got to go to to talk about this going shot for shot with Jaylen Brunson man. Norman Powell this guy is he’s something. I mean he is he is himself a I mean obviously a very talented scorer but this was like you saw him a little bit in the preseason. Um, but being boots on the ground and getting to watch him in a in a highly contested game, you know, not this nonsense of the preseason and the Knicks come into this game two and 0. I know that they don’t have Mitchell Robinson. Boohoo. He don’t have Tyler Herro, so you know, go go crying your pizza. I don’t know what to tell you Nick Knicks fans. Um, but Norman Pal, like first of all, they give him the mic. Uh he does a little intro to everybody and he’s just he’s starting off heat from three. He’s just like, “Okay, we’re just gonna looks like we’re just going to do this. We’re going to go about it and we’re going to be just just cranking it in from three.” It was a Goose Galore night. Uh Goron was there. Goran with I think Goran’s got a new podcast coming out. I think I saw like a hint. It said Gogi’s Garage or something like that. I and I got to tell you, subscribe me three times over to any Gore Andragage podcast because uh that sounds delightful. But they go to Gogi and Goi was like usually he keeps it cool, but Goi was even fired up for the building. Like you just tell Heat Nicks, dude, right? Like you look down, you see I got to be like I was walking through the corridors of uh of the the Cassaya Center. I was getting ready to go to the water the the booth and um I was like, “Holy crap, that’s Patrick Ewing.” Cuz like I couldn’t go anywhere cuz the the bowl was closed. When the bowl is closed, they’re doing shoot around and w I was like, “Oh crap, Patrick Ewing is here.” All right, let’s I don’t normally see him at Knicks games in Miami. You know, you usually see the the crew. I saw Mike Breen at the old media dining while I was watching the Dolphins finish throttling the Falcons. you know, very dapper that Mike Breen, he uh does the old napkin in the uh in the in the in the shirt, keep it all looking good for TV. But I was like, “All right, stakes are up here tonight for the Knicks first road game.” And Gogi’s in the building. But Norman Powell just like he he had it all working, dude. He had the the the shot, the putbacks. He was just getting to the rim with ease. And it was really like it was a Brunson Powell bucket forbucket early on in this game and I was like man I I I was loving every bit of it. It was it was a beautiful thing to see and know Powell just is like he fits in man. He fits in and he brings that punch right away. It has been I can’t believe that Heat got him for not like I I I watch him play and I’m like respect to the Clippers know that he needs a new contract and we’ll see what happens with that. How do you let that guy go out the door for for for natada zip zero nothing? That’s crazy to me. He’s so good. Did you guys like did you know he was this good? He’s good. Norman Powell is good. I I am I am like wow. I I love watching him play basketball. And the other thing that was noticeable today, he’s got this thing about like he’s got a sneaky way of like stealing the basketball, dude. like he’s just like he kind of just always like kind of you know you always see like when Jimmy was great with offball stuff like getting into passing lanes but he does like this really sneaky like little low on the dribble back tap on the uh on the uh on the dribble with like a little hand to get in there and I was just like sneaky sneaky Mr. Norman Powell. So he and Brunson did the majority of the scoring in that first quarter. 13 for Powell, 11 for Brunson. Um, we get to the second quarter and this this Haime Hakez, I mean, what can we say about him? He has been incredible for his first three games. Incredible. This man is been a downhill demon. Triple Hota. He has been just getting his head down, flying to the rim. And it was interesting because the game started off today and Haime, you could tell like it was like one of these things where like it looked like guys were trying to be a little physical, slow him up and he was almost kind of like letting them buy like letting their defense dictate that to him. Again, a little bit of a wonky game. The Heat the the Knicks, they weren’t shooting very well. They was shooting like 40% in the first half. So guys were finding some footing, but man, he got on the run and you were just like, oh, he got like he got one to fall and just like bing. There it is. Green light for Hime Hakez and it was like meep meep right down the court. That hair was flowing, the buckets were falling. He was looking so damn good. He he just no hesitation. He’s just he’s he’s like a he’s like shot out of a cannon to get down the court and he’s really turned himself into just such a great catalyst for this second unit. This second unit with Haime Nico Simony Fonteio and Drew Smith who Drew Let me tell you something about Drew Smith. Needle mover Drew Smith. Drew Smith had this point where there’s a loose ball off of Carl Anthony Towns and mind you there was already a loose ball challenge that went against Drew Smith and he was like and you were like Drew Smith would never he was he’s I touched the he would never. So the Knicks win that challenge and Drew Smith’s like mission is I’m gonna get that back and by by George if he didn’t like right off the bat and he looks at Spo and he goes you know cuz he doesn’t want to be like the review but he looks at Spo and he kind of gives a and Spo’s like I don’t Drew you don’t even need to Eric Spolster trusts the word of Drew Smith you know more more than a judge more than a surgeon whoever the most trustworthy voice Eric Spol will ever go to is Drew Smith because he goes to the challenge and he’s just like if Drew says it I follow and that was the case and this guy man he just he just does such a great job because you know it started off a pretty tough night for DaVon Mitchell defensively got some tough calls and got in early foul trouble so you needed Drew Smith needed Drew Smith especially against uh especially against Andrew Wiggins but man he was he was he was just very impressive tonight. That second unit, man, with with those guys. Fonteio, what a this Fonteio. I mean, he’s come out and Spo said this today after the game. I think uh Brady asked him a question about him and he was uh he’s like, “Yeah, he’s got the ultra green light.” And he’s just come out 13 14 every single game. He’s come out. He’s made five, six buckets. He’s made multiple three-pointers. Um, he’s given you four rebounds, couple of assists. He’s just been dynamite. He’s been absolute dynamite for the Miami Heat, finding the right spots. He is just everything everything’s in the flow. He’s not forcing anything. And and and just as a team, they’re not like this wasn’t even the prettiest shooting game today. And I think both sides could say that. Like the Knicks, I’m sure could see this, but there was a big difference when we got to the third quarter cuz the third quarter was just like everyone’s getting downhill and the Knicks couldn’t stop fouling the Miami Heat. And I think they got to the free throw line. I think it was 15 times in the third quarter it ended up being. It was 13 of 15. 13 of 15 from the free throw line. Really, really impressive. really really impressive. Um, but yeah, I mean it was it was it was a it was a great great performance by these Miami Heat and it just a spirited effort all around. I just love the vibes of this team right now. Uh, I like the jokey jokes. Uh, Simony is breaking down the the huddle afterwards. Just just nice, man. There it’s an enjoyable brand. The coach feels like he’s in a great place right now. And even still, you know what I like about it? The team seems like they’re in good shape. They got practice tomorrow for in between home games. This Eric Spolra feels like he is gonna he’s going to work these guys, but they’re enjoying it. Like they just they feel like they’re playing free flowing right now. They’re looking for their stuff. And you get a win tonight against the New York Knicks who everybody loves, everybody says in the East they’re going to be the best team. And the Heat haven’t looked over Matt. I mean, obviously the last the the the Memphis game, forget it. they blew the doors off them that they did not seem overmatched tonight even with the characters missing on both sides. Uh the Orlando game definitely didn’t feel overmatched. It was just underwhelming how it ended because it seemed like it was right there within their grasp. But this is this Miami team has looked good. I think we can all say like I I I mean sure guys could go into big slumps. I mean yeah but I don’t I don’t think that the I don’t think there’s outrageous stuff happening here. even the even the development during the game that I thought was good because like Kell like Kell didn’t have like this monster game today. Um but man did he bounce back strong in the third quarter cuz like the big thing that was the big crux for Miami in this game was the rebounding and Kell came out and he had like six rebounds in the third quarter and I was like that’s it kill that and the Heat really felt like they took control of the pace of that game in the third. they they felt like they were in a spot. They had a they had a seven-point lead by the end of it. Um and man, I mean, dude, just it really was like Hakez and Yoic. I mean, Hakez was doing such a good job of getting in the paint, spraying out to his shooters. get a beautiful one to Nico Drew Smith hounding fools uh getting the Knicks to throw it away and then you had a Haime Hawz fade away and he just has it going for him so good right now. It was like rolls in there nice and and you just see the hair qua down the down the uh the lane. Um it just felt like a a a really really really great job by Miami in this second half adjusting to what the game was bringing. Yeah, Carl Anthony Town stunk up the joint, couldn’t hit a three, couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, whatever. And he got one to drop, but then you’re like, uh oh, this is going to be go time for him. There was a weird spot in the third quarter where Bridges got a flagrant foul on him from Norman Pal because Norman Pal closed out too recklessly. So, that was a flagrant foul and he came right back and he ended up getting a foul on a three-point shot. And it was like whatever mistakes the Heat made today, like the guys made an effort to just go and make good on it right away. And I love that about this team. I love the I loved how they brought it today. Um and then the start of that fourth quarter uh was was just dynamic. We talked a little bit about the start of the video. Um yeah, I mean just just just an absolute great win anytime you beat that team. Riley and and Zo were like embracing it was, you know, like grabbing the doing the thing where they’re grabbing his arm. They’re smiling. They’re having a good time. He were up by 18. And yeah, it got squeaky cheeks there at the end because Brunson’s a monster. But all in all, Miami gets this win tonight and improved to two- one. And I think you’ve just liked a lot of the elements of what this team brings. Noman Pal’s an absolute procorer. DaVon Mitchell has has gone into the uh the the true point guard role to try and get people involved. And even for a tough night for him, he still had some clutch buckets at the end where he’s like, you know, in the fourth quarter, he’s not scared. He’s going at Brunson. He beat him one time for a bucket, which was really great. and uh you know Wiggins who who couldn’t hit anything today stepped up and hit the biggest three of the night to really like finally put the game at ease and put it away. So I I really could look at everybody who played today probably except for like Pella and be like yeah I remember two three plays from that guy where he at least two or three plays from that guy where he helped win the game tonight. It was just it was a great collective effort and that’s even with the numbers like not looking the prettiest. Neither team killed it from three. Neither team killed it from the field. That he were just a little better. The Knicks got a lot more shots up. The Knicks were just like torpedoing balls off of the rim and they were taking weird bounces all day. Um, and then the He were better at getting to the free throw line today. So, awesome effort by Miami. I’m excited about this season. I I hope that like people are watching this right now. And if you came into this year skeptical, if you came into this year, I get it. I understand they won 37 games last year. This team right now is a fun watch. It’s a vibe right now, dude. It is. If you’re missing Heat basketball, you’re only hurting yourself because you’re missing a vibe, dude. Yoic, dude. Haime Hakez is back. Bam bio, best defender in the world. Norman Powell has found his home. Andrew Wiggins is comfortable. DaVon Mitchell is a true point guard that don’t even have Tyler Herro back yet. Simone Fonteo has the best name to say in the world. Also, he’s awesome. And just like, hey, who doesn’t like vibes? And if you don’t like vibes, then don’t watch this team. But if you are all for vibes and you would like more, I would recommend some more heat basketball for your

We beat the sticking knicks !!!! That’s SIMONE
Does anyone know the name of Gogi’s podcast?
3 games in this season and it's already more fun that whole last season😮
Heat gang 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
we will win nothing because we dont have that 1a, but i love this team and it makes finally fun again to watch heat basketball
Canes, Panthers, Dolphins, and Heat win! The quad-fecta! Tobin just might beat the mush allegations 😂
Where all you folks at that said ian know basketball that said jovic is going to start over ware yall also should give bam some respect
Seeing Jaime coming out playing like this got me smiling and shit
Norm Powell was a goated pickup as well
Now I'm wondering what the rotation will be once Tyler returns
Would you look at that..I got MY joy back☺️
I’m going to say it…. I don’t like Dru Smith
Normam powell is a framchise player
Bam adebayo is not a defensive threat anymore we have to stop with this narrative great win though
3rd game of the season bam don’t average a steal or a block we have to be real
The Heat desperately need to trade Herro for another 3 and D guy and some picks and they can be a very competitive playoff team
I think we winning because we don’t have a 6’5 player playing power forward named haysmith that was very dumb of Spo last year also Duncan had no defense, and powell is a lockdown 2 don’t sleep on his defense
Goosies Dude!!
JOY
The SF or 3 position is very deep. Jovic, Simone and Jacquez are really SFs or 3 players. Its currently played by Wigs!
The 2 spot is also very deep, Powell, and Herro are really SG or 2 players. Heat is shallow on the 5 and 4.
I hope those NY fans enjoy this BTA. It really sucks how they hijack our building and are so loud. Safe travels home 😂😂😂
We BACK BABY!!!🎉🎉
rest of the house was 100% woken up
GAME BALL – TUA!
I'll wait to teams get a little more tape on the heat to see if the offense real, but for now let's go Heat.
Trade Bam.
Retire Pat.
Let's go Heat.
The Tyler hate won’t be tolerated he was the only one that was scoring last season and coach didn’t have enough time with Wiggins now Tyler don’t gotta be first option he was getting trapped every game because everybody didn’t wanna touch it coach spo doing a good job this season Tyler will make us better
We just want to see a competitive team on the floor and some offense ! And beating Boston and New York!
Statement win last night it was definitely fun to watch great win fellas!! #heatnation
That Italian !!! Is Mr CheffBoyAreThree
Jaime looking like a quicker version of Boris Diaw
Norman Powell is the steal of the off-season. Makes u wonder if the Clippers knew or appreciated what they had with him because OMG… He is completely unlocked for the Heat. One thing for sure we shouldn't be saying this year… We are too small. We are faster, and our bigs are athletic and can stretch the floor
Thank you Tobin for the indepth and entertaining breakdowns. I cant watch every game so I enjoy these very much.
Great game. Tyler who? Duncan who?
Trade Bam as his value is good now, his shooting always sucks!
I live in France, went to bed at 1:30 with a big smile on my face.
f*ck the Knicks
Tell spo I see right thru him the only reason he starting Ware along side Bam is because he feel pressure to do it he really wants to play small ball. I want everyone to see how spo only play Ware and Bam Together at the beginning of the game and at the beginning of the Second Half. Spo will loose us a lot of games because of his stupidity at the end of games leaving Ware on the bench while we struggle to secure Rebounds
We have a good team only spo can Mess this up by refusing to use Ware along side of Bam for most of The game
Love you, Tobin, keep up the good work
Norman Powell is exactly what we needed a good defender that can shoot and drive pretty well.
We are looking good without herro. Trade him?
jesus, how bad is bam offense it's ridiculous. if not 3 uncontested dunks and layups he will be 2-12 this game with 6 turnovers and under 30%fg for power forward in 3 games. this is really bad. hope herro comes back fast and we stop running our offence through bam. imagine that they don't want trade him for giannis. greak freak in the paint surounded by herro and powell who both can shoot high volume 3 points on great efficiency. instead we have bam who can't do shit in the paint and next year he will make 50 mln xd bam should give some of his money to jjj, powell and fontechio. if those 3 wasn't playing as good as they playing now we will be 0-3 and bam will be the first person to blame for his bad offense. the efficiency of jjj and fontecchio in those 3 games is not sustainable for entire season.
Should we trade hero 🙄
FUN & GUN OFFENSE….. Its so awesome to watch. Im so glad Jaime has found a role he can excell at. Norm playing really well and fits like a glove. Still love everything Niko is doing. #PointJovic era is gonna be fun. The bench (Niko, Jaime, Simone, and Dru) and Bam were the only plus guys in plus/minus on the floor. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I swear I thought I was dreaming when I saw the score 😱😱😱
